I’m from NZ and my dad just brought a 1974 Toyota Land Cruiser fj45 and it’s in restoration

I own a 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser. I bought it about 8 years ago, with 62,000 miles on it for $5000. It has electric leather seats, sun roof, seats 8. Today I have 132, 000 miles and this vehicle has never let me down.

You made me miss my '74 FJ40, my several FJ55s, and my FJ60. Of those, the FJ40 was my favorite simply because it was brutally honest.

I daily drive my 1974 40 series, and when I can, I volunteer at the museum.
I love how much you love Land Cruisers. Does Autoblog (you) want to come to Cruise Moab next year? or maybe Cruiser Fest? (Cruiser Fest just happened last weekend). If you thought driving an LC on a dirt road or up Little Cottonwood Canyon was exhilarating, I bet we could get you in the pilot seat on some red rocks and blow your mind. P.S. I dream of a 70 series too. Someday.

My first NEW car was a ‘77 FJ40 I bought in my teens. Took it all over the SW, including Canyonlands NP. Finally sold it in the early 90s to raise the down payment for my first house. I’m still missing it to this day.

I enjoyed this video very much! I loved your enthusiasm about the Land Cruiser. It's a good looking vehicle. I am hoping to get one. The 80 Series is my favorite. I have never driven one, but some day. Take care! Hope to hear more from you in the future.

80 series is my favorite, looking to find a 97 final year of that generation with the last time that the 4.5 liter inline six cylinder motor was available and final time that the solid front axle was available in the US. Would like it to be equipped with the front and rear locking differentials as well which were factory options also but can be added if not already equipped. I absolutely love all generations of the Land Cruiser but that 80 series is tops for me!

I was most looking forward to driving the FJ40 but I have to admit, the 80 Series ended up being one of my favorites. It was the LC they were making the year I was born too, so that definitely helps.

A new Land Cruiser is $76K while an Escalade is $64K on cars dot com. While a 2009 with less than150,000 miles the LC is $26K and a Escalade is $17K. A new LX570 3-row is $92K while a 2009 is $27K.
So the LC drops $50K and the Escalade only drops $48K. Toyota LC is not luxurious and should not have that depreciation compared to another luxury marque.the LX is more like a luxury vehicle in it’s high depreciation of $65 in the last decade.

You only searched on one website. I'd say that's not entirely representative of the entire LC market. You really ought to cast a much wider net than that.

I love the 70 series! It's my dream Land Cruiser to drive. The songs are Undertow by Low Light and Howling at the Moon by D Fine Us.

Video was very misleading, you only drove 3 land cruisers in the video. I would consider it 2 generations of land cruisers. And no body cares about your hotel room

Speak for yourself. I'd say that hotel room was pretty plush, considering it was a press gig paid for by Toyota.

Toyota once made trucks and SUVS for men that were Spartan, rugged, and as one of my friends said “The Workin’ Most Truck I Ever Owned!”. Then Toyota went the sad route as GM and decided to make every vehicle an “Imperial Land Barge for fat lazy Jabba The Hutt” drivers to ooze to the country club in. What a horrendous outcome for such legendary trucks and SUVS. They took Japanese samurai and turned them into fat, bloated geisha girls.
    Shame on Toyota!
