    That Safu leaders are very good, I just dont like the colour! Connor's casting is very good for junior. When he is a bit older and stronger will be casting a fair old way. I would say that you should look deeper into continental lines. When I fish a match I usually go with .20mm trabucco xps match with a .20mm to .50mm tapered leader over clean beaches. They rate the strength as 12lb for the .20mm and .50mm as 60lb. I have another spool with the .25 18lb and .25 to .57mm 18 to 70lb for when conditions are tougher. Also when fishing for flatties use a bright colour plain lead so that the rig moves and the lead can find a hole to settle into. You will find the extra movement also attracts them.

      Thanks for your comments. One of our resident casting experts thank you. I've found the slow Motion helpful too on this video. Pinned

    Hi a great effort at helping beginners. A couple of points, when you asked about the best leader knot in the shop all you got was a product plug, not an answer! I think when baiting up for beginners a baiting needle makes things much simpler for beginners when using worms. Good to see the young lad being shown the ‘ Brighton Bash ‘ as I call it. The best and easiest cast to learn, and for the doubters you can hit over 200 yards with some practise and it’s MUCH safer than the pendulum cast. I have had to take cover when I have seen some people (experts!) casting pendulum style. Ready made rigs for beginners would be good as well. A great effort with much better film quality than I can do on my own! Kindest regards Bill

      Thanks for the comments. Castings a funny old game isn't it there's definately not a one size fits all for sure. And the Brighton is all you need to catch fish 98% of the time! This was not a product plug it was my editing that probably made it sound like it was! This was a genuine conversation we were having regarding anglers that have changed to this particular brand. Authenticity is important in the industry and these guys were 100% honest about what they sell. Thanks again for all your help to the channel keep it coming as we all benefit from this

      Saltwater Angler Hi yes casting is a funny game but I have now been encouraging the inside lead layout for many years, high inertia, Brighton, Easy Cast, unitech call it what you want because it is the easiest way to hit big distances and the safest. Dean Bass does an excellent demonstration for Sonik hitting over the 200 yard mark, look it up on UA-cam and Jamie Blakehouse hits over 300 yards again on UA-cam with the same cast! I’m glad that was your editing that made it look like a blatant product plug. Regards Bill

    I'm thinking this is a great series, unfortunately the fishing coach started using technical terminology and a lot of it was lost on me, ie. what is a blank, what is a snood, I'm only half way the this video and I'm already confused.

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  Рік тому

      Hi yes thanks for that some good interesting feedback - maybe an update is needed
      - blank- = No fish were caught
      Snood- the bit of line that comes of the main bit of the rig. It’s the bit of line that has the hook and bait on it.

    Would be great if you could shoot a video of a pendulum cast shot from a drone immediately above you. That way a novice like myself could really see and understand what the lead is doing before the final forward stroke.

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  2 роки тому +1

      yes your right i will do that. Just need to make sure we dont take out the drone with the cast !

    Great video.....I use 50lb braid just started using braid ...is it necessary to attach a leader? 🤔 thanks

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  2 роки тому +1

      Not really i fish one rod straight through. However it does need to be really strong and a smooth cast. 60lb Braid with well tied 4 oz leads.
      Remember the Mono is stretchier and cushions the cast somewhat.Many factors involved, casting technique and a less snappy powerful cast will help you here. Also if fishing over rocks or reefs the braid will shear so a leader isnt just used for casting but to protect that main line as a leader of mono takes the nicks and cuts . Always check the line after a fish, Poerful casts and after snags. Have fun though Braid really helps bite ditection.

    At the 4:37 mark the tackle box comes out with the rigs ready to go on spools. I'm still new to fishing, but haven't seen or heard anyone using these spools here in America. After a quick amazon purchase, I think my life is about to get much better! Thanks!

    You don’t use braid on a multiplier?

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  4 роки тому

      Not on a beach multiplier where you would need 5 oz leads . It can be done on smaller baitcasters and lighter lures and even say 1oz weights. Generally a Fixed spool lends itself to much better to braid.
