    Just want to thank @DeepSpaceAstro for all of the great videos on processing astro photos. I watch them multiple times and try to follow along as I'm editing my images. I appreciate the time you've invested in producing these informative and very helpful videos.

    My name is also Rich, and I just wanted to say thanks a million for your Siril guides. By far the easiest, concise and detailed series on Siril on youtube. Been using Siril for a year, your guides have transformed my processing

      @@DeepSpaceAstro me too, but I have too little time to churn out videos. My editing time per playable video sometimes gets as high as 60:1

      Yeah it can take some time editing.

    Just recently found your channel, I'm digging it! I've just started getting back into Siril because of the added features. You do a great job of explaining them. So much of this stuff has so many things it's hard to follow them even with good documentation. Your presentation is so straight forward. Keep them coming!

    There are some rather counterintuitive uses of this tool. My favourite, which I discovered while writing the code, is it makes it really easy to make those "mineral moon" looks. Try taking a moon image and applying an *inverse* GHT saturation stretch with SP set to 0.5. This will actually increase saturation in the low-saturation areas you want to boost, and you can use the HP setting to ensure that the saturation curve stays nice and linear at the top end. Props to Mike Cranfield and David Payne for developing such a useful family of stretching curves in the first place!

      I cannot paste a url here. But I believe we did show the mineral moon example on the documentation :). Rich, you can thx Adrian for the development of this feature!!

    • @DeepSpaceAstro
      @DeepSpaceAstro  Рік тому

      Yep I saw that in your documentation but didn't have a moon image to try it on. I did mention that technique though in the video. Great work!

      Yep you guys did mention that in the docs. You guys are doing a fantastic job! Lots of people aren't even considering PixInsight due to Siril!

    I have watched all your videos with enthusiasm but as Siril has introduced new tools I have become a bit lost on what order I should be doing things (in linear or after stretching etc.). I would be grateful if you could give us a quick check list to keep us on track. Many thanks and keep up the good work.

      Soon I'll be putting together a video that uses the tools start to finish.

    Is there really any reason to buy PixInsight these days? I started my free trial and didn't see anything I wanted Siril to have other than the background extraction sample inspection tool.

      That's a matter of opinion. I've only started playing with PI myself and it does have a lot of advanced features but I think the have certain use cases. Probably wouldn't use them all of the time. Siril gets the job done nicely and I think for most people it's all they really need
