When I made my driving licence 20 years ago I said I want to be the best driver in the World but once upon a time when I was met him I just said I want to be Walter Röhrl.....:)

Er ist und bleibt der Beste. Ein unglaubliches Privileg dich 2x persönlich treffen zu dürfen. Und dann erkennt man endgültig was für ein großer Mensch du bist. Jeder zieht dir am Arm und möchte etwas von dir und du bleibst ganz gelassen und erfüllst geduldig jeden Wunsch. Einfach einzigartig.

What an awesome, humble individual. I love how he's so candid about his own fear and vulnerabilities despite all he's accomplished.
That's one thing I admire about him, his preparedness and passionate discipline are great qualities, but - he also refused to race in Finland and I can't really blame him. The Audi Sport Quattro S1E2 Group B car that he drove was actually quite a bit heavier than the other competitors like the 037 and Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2 and since Finland is so infamous for jumps and high speed I can't really blame him.
Sometimes a man has to be big enough to see how small he is.

Holy shit, I know exactly what he is talking about in regards to winning something and hating the celebration afterwards. I honestly can relate so much to how he thinks: I also have problems doing nothing for an hour. I have to do something with myself. It's like I'm hearing an older version of myself. He really is a legend, and such a humble and kind person.
Aye, myself as well. I'd rather be quietly congratulated and share the victory with my co-driver and engineers and techs and stuff while wearing my nomex overalls drinking brew instead of getting my picture taken with FIA heads and slick suits and cameras everywhere.
It's so cool to learn this stuff about all these drivers whom I heard the names, but didn't come to really know them until my adult life. Really, really awesome.

Walter ist der Größte, ich könnte ihm stundenlang zuhören. Vor einiger Zeit habe ich beobachtet, dass ich - wenn ich schnell in den Bergen Auto fahre - oft die Zeigefinger ans Lenkrad lege. Seit ich es bei Walter gesehen habe fahre ich nur noch so. Wenn man ihm beim Fahren zuschaut kann man so viel lernen. Extrem ökonomischer Fahrstil mit minimalen Bewegungen. Ich wette, wenn er "normal" fährt, im STVO konformen Bereich, hat er minimalen Verschleiß und Verbrauch. Danke für ALLES, Herr Röhrl.
Ich glaube er hat auch mal in einem Interview erzählt das die Leute bei Porsche es manchmal einfach nicht glauben können mit welch niedrigem Verbrauch er die Autos im normalen Straßenverkehr bewegt.

What a driver Walter and the other's were,
Personally today's rallying can never be as entertaining as Group B, ( those were the days of when for me rallying was at the peak and group A was the beginning of the end of the sport. For me rallying isn't as entertaining anymore.
Strong men don't need wearing masks in front of a camera...Have a great time with your classic cars sir !
