I know the film is getting a lot of love right now, but I think that down the road both we as fans and Hollywood itself will look back at what Damien has done here and really be able to see the massive impact this film has had on the genre. This is a truly special moment in horror history and I’m so bloody happy to be a horror fan right now.
Right, I don't know about others but I was born in 85, by the time I was old enough to be able to watch horror all the heavy hitters were already many sequels deep. Yeah my generation has had horror franchises Saw, Scream, Final Destination, but no iconic Slasher. Now we may have the best to ever do it all because Damien is one of us and will do this as an outsider without a studio to fuck it all up like they did in the 80s.

Yep, just like David Howard Thornton who plays Art. It's amazing how many horror creators come across as such genuinely lovely and nice people. Horror is very misunderstood to those who have a negative opinion of it.

@@slaveriotgaming1814 there's a danger to keeping it too vague though, because I think Damien realises to make terrifier movies each one needs to ramp up even more than the last in terms of effects but also the scale of the story to keep it interesting. otherwise you end up in a situation like Jason where he becomes incredibly played out and boring and your just churning out the same movie again and again. the violence can only carry it so far, its got to have substance too

How is he not bigger than what he is??????? He literally does EVERYTHING! Unheard of and very impressive. A true inspiration to all of us on the grind ❤
T1 showed me that it had been crafted by a master of storytelling simply because it did not hold your hand. It happened to you, and it didnt try too hard to convince you it was scary, me realizing I was having as much fun as Art a few times really messed with me a little. Should I be laughing at this? It isn't funny and i cant stop laughing and im starting to feel like something is wrong with me.... but holy sh't this is AWESOME! Dude your devotion to the medium, practical effects, the real bones and guts of the genre, and the joy you have making it is inspiring really. Years after seeing the 1st, I heard mentions that people were throwing up after watching the new one and falling out and I knew it was no gimmick and was remembering my dad telling me about the Exorcist and was super impressed knowing that modern people, who aren't surprised by anything anymore, could be effected like that 50 years later. After experiencing 2, it was obvious someone who absolutely LOVED horror was behind it. This has really cemented itself as one of my favorite horror sequels and Art is a masterpiece silently screaming in pain and all. 10/10 scary as f*ck, 11/10 rolling out the theater laughing uncontrollably, and man imagine if this was real for just a split second, the unpredictable creativity is legendary.
Looking at T1 & T2 It’s so obvious Damien took feedback from fans (as he said). Congrats to Damien for taking that constructive criticism and channeling it into T2 - so good! I loved T1 but T2 is certainly a wonderful improvement in many ways. This is really smart film making. And the pacing was perfect!
Same thing is happening in the game industry. The big companies and their employees are out of touch and making crap. Random low budget folks who really love horror or games are the ones pushing the genre/field
I think a huge part of the success is the grassroots underdog/underground aspect. so many horror movies had similaraties and could have blown up . but to see the interviews of Damien and all the work and dedication it just sets his movie apart from others. it's the ride, I'd never heard of it until a few months before terrifier 2 and you saw all the hurdles, expectations, and then it lived up to the hype. I've never seen a movie just materialize from an unknown low budget b movie to a huge hit overnight like that, all the years of labor making 1 and 2 just blew up on Halloween last year, so cool
What a trip. If you were a fan of Opie & Anthony, you were well aware of Sam and the other interns. He was always a soldier. To find out that you achieved one of best Damien Leone (and Rob Zombie) interviews on the internet is truly an inspiration. Looking forward to seeing more interviews and keep up the great work, Sam!
Terrifier 2 was a nostalgic great movie. Love the crazy style and love the nostalgic 90s feel to the horror story. Best horror of 2022. The cinema in my local small town didn't show the movie though :( Was to extreme apperantly.
I think one big thing that really pushed this movie to success is that it isn’t a reboot, it’s new & doing what so many horror movies haven’t tried to do.
The best thing about making serious money at the box office is that you now can make MORE MOVIES. Like now Damien can finally not need to be concerned or worry about scraping together money and take a step back from straining himself to create all of the the gore and practical effects. Now we don’t need to wait 3-5 years.
44:43 he gives lost boys shout out and now Jason Patric has been revealed to be in T3 😮 i wonder if that was already the plan during this interview or not
Just got my blu ray and I loved every minute of this movie. Sometimes a clown feels like a copout for a horror movie, but Art is incredible. Loved the first movie and somehow loved the sequel more! Can't wait for Terrifier 3!!!
I prefered the tone of the first Terrifier but i enjoyed the second movie and can't wait for the third. Hopefully we get more about Art's past and story.
I just met Damien and David at the days of the dead convention in Atlanta a few weeks ago. At the time didn’t see terrifier 2 yet. David himself told me I would enjoy the second and that he had a lot of fun making it. Since then I’m opposed with art the clown. ❤❤
Such an excellent interview, with one of the greatest self-taught directors, and special effects artists of our time! Cheers! Terrifier forever! Damien Leone is a G!
It’s old school. Low budget. Simple yet confusing aimless plot. But focuses on what the real fans want to see, the gore. Every other writer ends a kill scene within 5-10 seconds, this guys like nah, keep it going, double down, triple down hahahah love it
I've seen the movie 4 times so far and about to see the movie again in theatres for my birthday!! Terrifier movies will always be my favorite movies eveeer!!!

Damien. Of course the dude who made these movies is named that. The Devil directs and films amongst us in plain sight. Standing ovation overall seeing all the films with Art this past few days. I am obsessed now .. #T3
That tweet Damien is talking about was mine lol. Guy completely passed out and crashed into the back of my seat. I have a video about it on my channel. Love terrifier!!
I’d already seen it once in the theater and a second time at a friend house who streamed it. When Halloween rolled around and it was still in the theater I had to go for the hat trick in costume as The Joker and stayed in character for the duration laughing at all the mayhem!!
I'm a HUGE Art the Clown fan and super happy for Terrifier's success. I still prefer Terrifier 1 by far, but I honestly don't get people puking. The practical FX are gory and violent but it's also a bit goofy and rubberish... It's not like it's super realistic.
Oh yeh a lot of the PFX look goofy and rubberish in the movie, though I think that adds to the vibe of the film, being a throwback to old-school slashers. I think people still find them gross though because the blood they used is animal blood, and the flesh definitely looks kinda gross.
I truly believe no matter what your opinion of the film itself, you have to be cheering for Damien right now. Not only is he super talented but just listen to how much he loves horror. He’s just so much fun to watch/listen to in interviews as he just loves it!!! He is so incredibly inspiring and everything he’s achieved is so very much deserved 🔥
I was wondering is Damien Leone kin to famous spaghetti western director Sergio Leone? Loved both terrifiers btw, truly our odes to '80s slasher/gore films.
i loved the ending after the credits when it showed the survivor painting words in blood on the walls and it was the same words carved into the girl in All Hallows Eve it was a nice throwbacc
That is what drove Halloween fans insane for years. Like why does Myers not die? what is he and why. Who made him supernatural; and why? WHy only on Halloween? It drove fans nuts for years until part 6 Producers cut finally explained it all. Like now why does Art only kill on Halloween and what is he and who is clown girl, etc?
I call her smiley but I believe that is his first victim manifested as a demon from hell. It seems arts victims selectively get chosen to help him and or fuck with him.
Would love to see Leone try his hand at something that isn’t overrun with gore. The effects are super impressive and all, but his handling of suspense and tension is often overlooked.
it was a bummer. not scary. the movie wants you to be invested in the family but you cant enjoy it if you feel for the family. its just gross with no repeat viewing value.
He is the Olaf Ittenbach of America. Olaf Ittenbach is a German horror director, and his films are brutal and graphic, and hold nothing back. This is in the similar style, not quiet as extreme, but pretty close :)
Just ordered Terrifier 1 and pre-ordered the steelbook from Walmart. I may also pre-order Terrifier 2 on 4k. Just pre-ordered the best buy exclusive 4k version.
I like how he's wearing a house of 1000 corpses shirt. That movie is one of the greats to only a few people but crap to everyone else. I'm glad to see he's one of the few.
I really enjoyed the beginning when he goes to the laundromat. He gets but naked, and he's reading the paper. Miming laughter at articles in the newspaper about car crashes, and a bunch of ppl dying. Then he looks over and he sees that little sidekick girl clown. She's smiling at him, and he just looks at her, his eyes still all fucked up and he's all bloody in the head and face. She looks at him, smiles, then takes this super diarrhea shit all over the chair. And Art's just kinda looking down, you know he's impressed with that massive Hershey squirting. But really starts smiling when she comes over and he gets to show her how his eyeball exploded out of his head, and concludes it all by playing Paddy Cake with her. Such a great scene, and that massive shit squirting scene was the perfect introduction to a great and wonderfully happy relationship. Remember Art likes diarrhea shit especially, he used it in the first Terrifier to decorate the bathroom of the pizza place with it. I mean he diarrhead all over that fuckin shitter. He even wrote his name "Art", in his own diarrhea on the bathroom wall, it was a bit lighter brown, very wet, but had pukey chunks. So we knew it wasn't puke, but it was definitely shit, like super shit squirts. He decked the halls, so you know Art appreciates a great shit squirt, whether he's smiling or not. He loves it, and I love him for loving that! Good for him!!

Fun ass movie and quite impressive for the budget, so glad for it’s success!
Damien is a great example of that you don't need millions of dollars to make a great movie! This is a guy you should look up to!
Same thing is happening in the game industry. The big companies and their employees are out of touch and making crap. Random low budget folks who really love horror or games are the ones pushing the genre/field
At last something fresh, genuine and authentic. No wonder, it didn't happen by chance. Best wishes for his future. Very good interview.
I love 1 and part 2 keep up the great work Damien 😊
Wish I’d had the opportunity to see T2 in the theater but the film is still fantastic!!
Love Damien’s sweet House of 1,000 Corpses tee shirt 🤘🏻🖤
I think a huge part of the success is the grassroots underdog/underground aspect. so many horror movies had similaraties and could have blown up . but to see the interviews of Damien and all the work and dedication it just sets his movie apart from others. it's the ride, I'd never heard of it until a few months before terrifier 2 and you saw all the hurdles, expectations, and then it lived up to the hype. I've never seen a movie just materialize from an unknown low budget b movie to a huge hit overnight like that, all the years of labor making 1 and 2 just blew up on Halloween last year, so cool
I love this guy. Very deserving of all the success coming his way.
Hands down my favorite top 5 directors hands down.his passion is amazing im speechless
Damien is a legend
Yo the second he said there was gonna be a steel box I turned into SpongeBob in that one episode at Sandy's house ...." I NEEEEDD ITTTT"
Such an excellent interview, with one of the greatest self-taught directors, and special effects artists of our time! Cheers! Terrifier forever! Damien Leone is a G!
We need a Prequel called Art the Clown. PLEASE
It’s old school. Low budget. Simple yet confusing aimless plot. But focuses on what the real fans want to see, the gore. Every other writer ends a kill scene within 5-10 seconds, this guys like nah, keep it going, double down, triple down hahahah love it
it's going forwards to having better story each time
This man is a horror movie genius.
I've seen the movie 4 times so far and about to see the movie again in theatres for my birthday!! Terrifier movies will always be my favorite movies eveeer!!!
We love your work man 🔥🤘🏻💀🤘🏻🔥 I’m glad you added Boy Harsher when it comes to the soundtrack ❤️🔥. Awesome 80s Synthwave music within the Film.. heck yeah
The LPG is a double metaphor. She allowed Art to come back to life the same way this movie miraculously was allowed to screen and stay unrated.
My question who wrote that catchy tune in the clown cafe scene? It’s so catch, it sticks in my head.
Woman itself that singed the clown cafe song
Extremely an awesome franchise rare to get horror movies this extreme I love it keep making more 😊
Damien. Of course the dude who made these movies is named that.
The Devil directs and films amongst us in plain sight. Standing ovation overall seeing all the films with Art this past few days.
I am obsessed now .. #T3
Damien is a genius not a demon . He probably has demons as friends lol great video fellas
Same
Love the story, love the journey. You guys created a new horror icon up there with the best of them. Amazing 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Great interview!
I was wondering is Damien Leone kin to famous spaghetti western director Sergio Leone? Loved both terrifiers btw, truly our odes to '80s slasher/gore films.
Dude no matter what people say about the time and taking too long or parts being pointless. Just keep doing whatever the f*** you want
i loved the ending after the credits when it showed the survivor painting words in blood on the walls and it was the same words carved into the girl in All Hallows Eve it was a nice throwbacc
Nothing but success for this guy.
T1 had a decent suspension/tension, but once you have seen many of these types of movies when it's hard to be impressed by any movie anymore
I think the mom getting shot was the worst it looks so real and that’s scary
it was a bummer. not scary. the movie wants you to be invested in the family but you cant enjoy it if you feel for the family. its just gross with no repeat viewing value.
@@GotoMaki4Micahnuh uh
Damien wearing a House of 1000 Corpses shirt makes my life
He is the Olaf Ittenbach of America. Olaf Ittenbach is a German horror director, and his films are brutal and graphic, and hold nothing back. This is in the similar style, not quiet as extreme, but pretty close :)
History will remember Damien as a trailblazer.
What a great interview!
Ive been saying for a while now that Art the clown is this generations Freddy Krueger, and i stand by that.
I went to see terrifier 2 5 times in the theatre
Go for 6 keep it going 😅
how much is the ticket for T2, I heard that many complained about the price
I watched it for free here on UA-cam 8 times
@@donataspuidokas2601 it was $9 bucks per adult after 5pm and $6 for the matinee tickets
@@PBSCaillou I’ve definitely watched it a lot even last night on tubi watched 1&2 😄
I painted my first Art canvas in 2016 after all halllows Eve knowing he was in his way to top tier icon
Just ordered Terrifier 1 and pre-ordered the steelbook from Walmart. I may also pre-order Terrifier 2 on 4k. Just pre-ordered the best buy exclusive 4k version.
Disagree with Damien on one thing - Art is absolutely in the pantheon of horror villians. Looking forward to seeing T3 in theaters
Clown Cafe was given by Sienna's guardian Angel to see if she would back and if she is worthy to be guided
Named after The Omen! I thought about that but now it is confirmed.
ART is coming.
October 2024
Smiley girl was his first victim
I enjoyed the terrifier series. But I’ve seen more gory films in my day. Have no idea why people are so shocked by it?
I mean the bedroom scene and the mom finding the body was pretty sick , movie is griddy
