Tony you’re welcome and thank you. It has been a few days now and the system is working great. Also it’s nice when you get the alert on my phone saying the door is open or closed. No more sitting in the driveway to watch door close all the way.
Thanks for the feedback Allen. It was certainly a fun project. I plan on installing this same system on the new house once it's built. As you know, I have the MyQ hub combined with the Apple hub to get the same results. The Meross is a much more streamlined system, with zero learning of codes etc. Running the wired sensor along the ceiling doesn't bother me at all if the functionality is stable. Although, some might not like the aesthetics of the wire. I did recommend to Meross possibly changing the wire color to white, along with a few other suggestions. In any event, glad you are enjoying the new system. Have a great day and thanks again. :)
Great video on installing this device. Especially where the sensors were installed. Thanks!
Hi Alex, thanks for watching! Glad you found the video informative. Have a great day!
Tony you get all the great toys to play with my friend!
I try :-)
In your video there is no mention of a sensor connected to the moving door it's self. Is there one and if so how is it attached?
Go back and watch from the 4:55 time stamp.
They need to make these with white wires as MOST garage door openers use white wires. In this case the wires are actually concealed running to the push button and door sensors, going under the white bank plate beside the outlet on the ceiling. As an electrician I would have fished the wire through the attic instead of stapling it across the ceiling.
Hi Michael, Thanks for watching. I can't disagree with you on either account. The wires should be white in color. I made this suggestion to Meross last year.
I bought the Meross that allows for three garage doors to open/close. However, I only have one garage door. How do I get rid of the other two garage door tiles (Garage 2 & 3) out of my HomeKit?
I would try to hide or remove them in the Meross app. If successful, it should carry over to Homekit.
Did you consider running the sensor cable along the rail top?
Hi Dave, thanks for commenting! Yes, we did consider it initially. However, we wanted to stay away from any moving parts. That said, the customer felt more comfortable with routing along the ceiling. Great question, it is an option. It comes down to the environment and what makes the customer happy.
No because the the guide bracket that connects to the door and the chain is riding alone that rail.also to close to moving parts it would damage the wire.
