For a name section, I remember looking back at some of your previous videos on attempting to keep this species of ant, and I saw the “House of Spades” ♠️ as a name suggestion which I loved! Their gasters really do look like the symbol of a spade so it’s really fitting.
I wonder if you could use masking tape with the talcum layer application. Don't see why not, and it would give you a nice line of talcum all around the edge, just for a clean look ...
It won't be an issue because it will be like 1-2 ants coming innate a time if they manage to go to it. And then if it goes inside, it's not like it will be able to call for reinforcement.
After watching all your videos, or maybe most of them, I’ve now started watching videos on terrariums, and this week will be building my own. Thanks you
My local zoo has a beautiful new insect exhibit, and they have a massive carpenter ants colony. I’ve learned so much from this channel, and I get to flaunt my knowledge when I visit. Thank you Ants Canada!
I miss watching you build your enclosures step by step. Any chance you might start filming yourself doing them again? The Jungle Gym looks amazing btw!
"Anteros" is a great name for this colony. Anteros is the god of requited love and also the punisher of those who scorn love. I like this name because of their heart shaped gasters ❤
Do you realize how many people you helped get through the Covid shutdown? You and your channel gave us a little distraction during the pandemic’s fear, suffering, and boredom. Faithfully, you produced a hopeful place to just wonder at nature, giving us hope for the future. What a blessing you and the ants gave us. Thanks from thousands of us!
Since the Fortree City flying type gym is in a jungle/ forest the name jungle gym as their home also fits this name. And their queen would be called Winona.
Before I started seeing your videos, I always thought that ants were just garden-ruining pests. This channel really opened my eyes to the incredible ant world. Thanks! Name suggestion : The Mysterious Acrobats.
I also read House of Spades and fell in love with that, that makes so much sense with their gaster shapes. And they have a Queen of Spades too, amazing.
I used to be phobic of ants from falling into a fire ant colony in Nevada at 5. But your love of these tiny creatures gave me a whole different perspective, and you literally changed my life for the better.
The Batty Acro.. a recently discovered ant that has taken refuge on a beautiful jungle island gifted by the creator of worlds along with a drop of ambrosia from the gods above. We await further tails af this colonies growth and prosperity... your videos are not only fun to watch but your narration is always on point listening to how you write is just as fun. Thanks for the work you put into not only the terrariums and raising the ants and making videos but also writing scripts and being enthusiastic about what you do.
I've kept Crematogaster in my area of Tennessee and they are called acrobats for a reason! Lol Be sure to make sure every day they can't get out as every time I've kept them, once they got enough numbers, they ALWAYS seemed to manage a way out and explore my home. They are very fun to keep and definitely different in their ways than a lot of the "normal" ants. Good luck and Mabuhay!
OMG the queen I caught this anting season has her first nanitics! This will be my first colony, but I'm not too sure the species. Can't wait to rewatch old videos to get the process just right! Thank you AntsCanada!
Excellent video 😊 I think the colony should be called: The Wild Hearts. Because they have heart shaped gasters and it seems like a wild ride to watch this (Highly likely) new ant species.
THIS IS AMAZING! Such a beautiful terrarium. Its gonna be so cool to watch the acrobat ants like a mini circus. Something i've never seen before and is BBC worth.
Hey, started watching about a month ago and, although I'm not particularly a lover of insects, I do enjoy watching the ways in which they live, work and communicate in their ecosystems. My suggestion for the name of the colleny is Aerial Acrobats. I suggest this for a couple of reasons- The first and most obvious is that, being 'Acrobat Ants', it just points towards the name of what they are. The second is that I watched how they moved with their abdomen and see how they move round with it either curled completely over or, in some cases, pointed straight up like an aerial or antenna and so just adds a little extra pun to their name. These videos are a great contrast to everything else that I watch and its great to see how passionate you are about what you do, keep it up 😊
Well now, this is really nice to see, and exciting! An entirely new species of ant in your part of the world, and the colony looks pretty healthy thus far! Can't wait for more updates from this colony! You're doing amazing work, AC!
Wow, I love this terrarium for our sweet acrobat ants. I think they should be named Acrobatic Junglers or Jungle Guardians, because of their movement and actions guarding the entrances of the colony like in the wild. Ant Love Forever ❤
The barrier will probably hold up, but I feel like the trees may provide an escape route since some of the branches and leaves appear to hang over the edge.
@@averytainton1431 possibly. But what I've always wondered is if their queen is buried away somewhere would they really be looking for a escape 🤔 and if they did escape would they come back to their colony and Queen regardless?
Proposed colony names I came up with: "The Gymnasts" or "The Circus". So happy for this new colony, and I shall be watching with great interest! #AntLoveForever
Thank you AntCanada for another phenomenal video. The cinematography is absolutely breathtaking as always, and the glimpse into the lives of these ants is truly remarkable. I can't wait to follow this new story over the coming months! Seeing the community and the amazing teamwork of these acrobat ants, a fitting name could be "Jungle Jugglers". This name might capture their acrobatic prowess, as well as the vibrancy of their home, the Jungle Island. Thanks again for your tireless work and passion for these tiny marvels of nature!

You might want to put the talcum layer also on the outside of the terrarium, so no feral ants come in and get stuck.
I wonder if you could use masking tape with the talcum layer application.
