That's one of the greatest joys of fly tying. No pattern book is required. Just use your imagination to create something that'll catch fish. I'm sure the "Glass Hen" will meet those standards, Matt.
Good morning Matt. ☕️time. That’s a great looking bug. Nice, simple tie. I’m going to have to play with that one. More ☕️ required. Take care Matt. Have a great week.
Good Morning Sir Matt, The Glass Hen ... pretty cool... I have gold, amber, rust combo glass beads. I'll be giving this one a try. Thank you Matt 😊. Have a great rest of your week Sir.
This is one of those patterns that I love tying. Just let your fish brian go and create something that you think will work. When I first saw the thumbnail for it, I thought it looked like a horsefly. I think most fish would thing that, too! Great tie!, Thank you!
Nice fly Matt! I love to look around the craft section of stores and see what materials I can find to use. It's an excellent way to save some money and have some fun being creative. Thanks for sharing!
I'm not sure leaving the bead loose is a bad thing. There are folks that put rattles on flies, the loose bead would work just like a rattle without the lump in the body. Keep the good stuff coming Matt.
Morning Matt. I like the fly and love the name. Wondering if you would talk about the flies you tie and which ones you keep in the box that work well for you in your waters.
Thanks Nich! I do talk about them sometimes, but honestly, I seem to use the same dozen or so flies for about 90% of my fishing. It's usually when I'm having a bad day on the water when I'll break out my "experimental box" and see if something happens to work. Sometimes it does, but sometimes I just stay skunked. :-)
One question I have is about a loose glass bead. I wonder if it would be OK to leave the bead a little bit loose, to act as a rattle. I may try a few and see if it effects the fish catching ability of the fly.
Cool looking design Matt 👍I have so many glass beads I may take up pea shooting again! I've shopped Hobby Lobby in the past and was mesmerized by the $warovski bead display 🤩Never bought them, too expensive. Luckily I found a local dollar store where, sorta like Alice's Restaurant, you could get just about anything you want for a buck! Beads! Glass, plastic, faceted, silver lined, etc. I've made a few extended bead body "nymphs" that were pretty cool. Good for trout and salmon egg imitations too, if you're into that sorta thing. Beads are cool, lots of uses in all types of fishing. Cool video too Matt, thanks! Say, how was that cool looking Airstream shake down cruise? Hope the weather held out and you didn't get mistaken for a UFO 🛸👽👍Take care and thanks again!
OMG what a great comment! I haven't heard anyone mention Alice's Restaurant in forever. Arlo Guthrie, right? Oh man... and speaking of extended bodies, that's what I just finished tying for Friday's video. And now it's about three hours past my bedtime! Looking forward to finally having a slow weekend around here. :-)
Okay, now I just had to listen to this song again. I forgot he mentioned a "red VW microbus." That's a 1970s term if I've ever heard one. Now here's one for you... what song is this from? "12 long haired friends of Jesus in a chartreuse microbus."
@@SavageFlies 🤔🤠👍 🚚🚛🚚🚛🛻🚐🚓 🚁"breaker breaker good buddy, smokey at the back door, and a bear air! LMAO! They're showing reruns of that TV show Movin' On 🤣I watched it last week! My "good buddy" and I had a lot of fun with the CB while driving to hunting locations. During deer season you'd hear "they be a blaze orange-in" chatter a lot. Next surface bug you tie call it the Rubber Ducky! 🦆🤓 👍
Thanks Tony! I can't recall if I've ever used a purple bead on this, but I've definitely tied it with a pink bead. Even some bright blue ones. And most of them have worked one time or another. :-)
I still like the Peak Damien. That's the vise I have at my farm and I still tie on it regularly. Another good one (I've only used a little bit) is the Montana Mongoose. It's a solid vise and a lot of people love it, but I think it's probably a bit over $200 these days. But still worth checking out. Thanks for the note!
Cool Matt! Something you just made up? I love it, I do the same at times, this keeps tieing fun. Get creative and crazy, and catch a fish or two. Thanks Matt 👍.
Thanks Matt good morning everyone
Appreciate it Marty! Thanks for the note my friend and have a great weekend!
Thanks for the video Matt. Now it’s off to work I go 😂. I would much rather be fishing! Have a great week.
You and me both Mike! Been a long week around here. But it's finally Friday. Have a great one my friend. :-)

I hear you Jim! It's a fast sinker that doesn't look like much... just something good to eat. :-)
Good morning Matt. ☕️time. That’s a great looking bug. Nice, simple tie. I’m going to have to play with that one. More ☕️ required. Take care Matt. Have a great week.
Thanks John! Been a long week around here but it's finally Friday. And I'm ready for a lazy weekend to catch up on some chores around the house. :-)
Good Morning Sir Matt, The Glass Hen ... pretty cool... I have gold, amber, rust combo glass beads. I'll be giving this one a try. Thank you Matt 😊. Have a great rest of your week Sir.

I hear you Tom! I'm the same way. Have a great weekend my friend. :-)

Thanks Matt. That’s a nice way to add variations to the fly box.

Looks cool, Matt!

Absolutely Burt! I've got another "fishable fly" for Friday. :-)

That's a great thought Dave. That's why the old Rattletrap bass plugs were so popular. :-)

Looks good Matt have you tried bright colors like purple or pink.

What vice around $200 would you recommend for a intermediate fly tier? I watch your review of the peak vise and it does look good.

Hi please can you make one video with the special nymph please the dogs breakfast nymph please 🥺🙏
I'll check it out Krisko and see if I can find the pattern!
