Ultra instinct did NOT break the internet, it broke the world, in all LATAM, people were watching dbs in bars, stadiums, parks, everywhere, Even Mexico's government managed to live stream at the Same time as Japan, thousands of people were watching that fight everywhere, all of LATAM did that, so for the one piece fans, dont compare gear 5 with ui, cause ultra instinct broke the world
he shook the world of void with his ki, which literally has nothing in it. which means that goku literally FILLED an INFINITE VOID with his ki and then shook that
You didn't even mention the sound of Ultra Instinct! Just the horn blaring parts that came back again against Kefla and is now universally the sound of dodging any attacks in and out of anime
The craziest part is that that actually caused a real diplomatic incident between Mexico and Japan. Toei asked the local government to not show those viewings anymore due to copyright reasons and it told them no so Toei went to the Japanese government who went to the Mexican government
UI was probably the best modern anime transformation. The buildup was amazing. We knew so much yet so little. How the form looked and worked was very unique. It was a simple concept of being in "The Zone" and the first fight is probably my favourite as rather than showing him overpowering Jiren, it's just him dodging everything. Mastered UI sort of dumbed it down to just another transformation but I still like the concept of it. Martial arts and combat sports place a huge emphasis on drilling and muscle memory. The logical conclusion to muscle memory is ultra instinct. Also, the UI form and theme was instantly iconic as people instantly recognize the theme in memes and stuff
I have no doubt in my heart that no anime will EVER have this kind of impact again (unless it's DB because that seems to be the norm lol). Dragon Ball really is a once in a lifetime phenomenon
Ultra Instinct started the BOOM in ANIME UA-cam REACTION Channels and also increased the anime community in general Ultra instinct within itself is iconic with how much hype it had in whole anime community
When DB Super was airing, we didn't have wifi so I remember sitting outside in the cold siverring and stealing our neighbor's wifi 😂 I felt goosebumps and the pure excitement was worth the struggle
I remember how often websites were crashed when the one hour special aired. Man what a crazy time, can’t believe it was all going to be 7 years ago this year
The reason why it broke in the first place is that the anime went ahead first instead of the manga, so no one really saw it coming, manga readers and anime enjoyers were totally went bananas during those times.
I remember waiting for that last episode of AOT the crunchy roll servers were broken so I watched it on funimation, man... I wish I was there for super
Honestly? Because I just got back into uploading after many years with this kind of anime discussion video format. This is my 2nd video being back. So I'm just trying to be consistent, make good content, and build the channel.
I still remember watching the whole dbs with my dad, one of the very few animes my dad and I shared together. Dragon ball in itself help me create a stronger bond with my dad at those times that now still stands. When this moment aired, i legit, never had seen my dad so hyped about something like this, it was such a moment of our lives
I'm happy to think of myself as being part of the very first to help popularize "Broke The Internet" when it came to gauging how influential a show has become in modern media. Over the years, in Anime or just plain media discussions when talking about critically acclaimed shows, I argued that any show that "Breaks the Internet" is a cut above and on a level of its own. It just doesn't create culture but also effects how media in life is consumed in the future, effectively forces companies to reevaluate networking infrastructure for broadcasting.
It was so hard to get Crunchyroll to work so we can watch it. I watched it with two of my friends, and it took us like half an hour to get the episode to finally buffer. Once we were in we let it buffer all the way, then watched it. I remember the switch in quality between the first half and the second half was insane. UI Sign is still my favorite, I prefer the black hair on Goku.
Thanks for the overview I was just recently wondering what the internet's reaction was like. I watched super weekly but it was airing back during when I was in 8th grade and I wasn't keeping up with the community like I am now.
I remember i was in 10th grade and me and my best friend were so mad because we couldn’t watch the ep NOWHERE because it was crashing sites, not realizing at the time how crazy that in it of itself was insane on how one moment in a anime is able to generate so much hype that it would break the internet. I dont think no other anime will ever come close to that🐐🐐🐐💯💯💯💯
The funny thing is that it never broke the internet, one piece fans turn off their Internet to make it look like it broke the internet, which I find pretty amusing.
@@datfunnyboss That actually isn't true. Crunchyroll themselves reported and published articles about outages they suffered when the Gear 5 episode dropped.
I think another majer reason why UI was so successful because unlike One Piece Gear 5 there was no manga to spoil people what was coming next. UI was anime only first therefore putting everyone on the same page for surprises when the episode air. No manga spoilers anywhere
Hey i admire oda for one piece's iconic characters but i remember that gear 5 was already shown in manga 50 episodes before the anime so it didn't break the internet But man oh man Goku UI broke every streaming site records And Goku's new transformation was THE HYPE and toriyama sure did delivered it with a powerful rival foreshadowing Goku's hardwork from childhood and his saiyan blood along with his family and friends
one thing i like to mention is no one knows whats coming so they are more hyped and excited because the dbs manga isnt ahead of the anime unlike one piece, g5 didnt break the anime because manga readers already know what happened and it watered down the hype and shock factor a bit. UI was insane because no one expected it.
Ive litterally never heard of Luffy Gear 5 until my friend told me about it, I dont think that broke the internet unless the algorithm really thought i wouldnt care to at least know lol
I remember me and a couple close friends set up a watch party to see the crazy ass espisode. It took us too long to start it we ended up quitting jt, but right after we all started heading hoke it started up again and 30 minutes later, the group fhat EXPLODED.
I feel like one of the biggest reasons UI was far more massive than G5 is because it was completely new and a mystery leading up to the episode. Everyone was speculating on what was going to happen, unlike G5 where everyone knew what was going to happen as it already did in the manga
A lot of anime moments have broken the internet. But the only thing in recent times that I felt like "Truly" broke the internet was Steve from Minecraft inclusion in Smash Bros. I quite literally could not access so many sites for hours that day.
I remember on the day the episode came out I was watching it on my commute to work and crashed and killed a family of four. Needless to say, I am now serving life in prison and I still return back to this episode to relive the hype
I do remember watching this episode when it debuted on VRV but I wasn't aware of the wider internet discourse surrounding it as I was quite disconnected from the fan community. Also to be fair to Super, much of the animation from the Goku Black onward was much better than the previous two arcs with it being far more consistently well animated. Goku vs Krillin was very well animated as well as plenty of other fights like Gohan vs Lavenda
I'm really like One Piece. But to this day, I remember almost as if it was today, sitting and trying to watch it on Crunchyroll for almost 1 hour and the excitement when it finally started to play the video lol it was truly spectacular
This was epic when it happened I was there when it did and will never forget it. This is even now more important than ever because toriama is dead rest in peace and there will not be another moment like it with him alive.
