I bought a white 40th anniversary manual yesterday. Great value, great looks and fun to drive. Cloth seats comfortable, supportive. Manual shifting is very smooth. Ride is very good also. Best value out there, less expensive than civic si and faster, more comfortable seats for me.
The best part of the Jetta is the fact that it isn’t a Honda civic. The civic is a bit too common, it’s makes the Jetta feel a bit more special to drive.
@@Reallseb after mote then an hr straight my butt starts to hurt but I'm also like super small and have no booty sooooo that also might be y I don't likem lol
I know this video is a bit older but man do i want another gli. Last one i had was a mk4 gli vr6. Been looking for a newer one. Trying to find a lightly used manual gli 2019 and newer.
i love the GLI! i think it's going to be my next move from my MK5 GTI. if i'm not mistaken, though, the current gen GLIs are built on the MK7 GTI MQB platform, so it's getting the MK7 GTI drivetrain. the MK8 GTI makes more power in its newest generation, but honestly you can just get a Stage 1 unitronics on your 3rd generation EA888 motor, and push oover 300hp/ 300lb-ft torque.
Yes it’s on the mqb platform! Tons of aftermarket support, endless opportunities. I don’t keep things stock though so the stock power was never my concern. I’m filming a video going over the Mqb platform, that will drop in about a week:)
I’ve got a 6MT in white and it is my favorite car ever. What value for the price. It’s a shame that the stock tires are as bad as they are, I had to replace those immediately.
The 40th anniversary does not unfortunately, you can always install it. If you’re looking for creature comforts, you should definitely pick up the Autobahn!
I was not sure about the red accents in front initially but I have received many favorable comments. The car in white is a "looker". The manual is fun.
I read your question wrong lol. No they don’t bother me, you have to intentionally push them, they’re haptic (kind like an iPhone when you re-arrange your apps). When you push them, there’s an obvious feedback that you can feel. I’ll make a Yt shirt video on it tomorrow lol
I preferred the boxier look of VW's in the late 80's/Early 90's personally. After that era, all cars ended up looking like different versions of a Saturn. Still kind of do in my opinion.
It has Apple car play & android play, which is arguably better than your basic navigation system. Remote start is only necessary in cooler climates. If you want R/s anyway, you can add it on for an extra $500
Thinking about trading in my 22 Civic SI for this.. thoughts? Only downside I see is the lack of premium audio (Bose with Honda). What do you guys think of the GLI audio?
The audio is great for what it is. If you want premium audio, go with the Autobahn trim. The Autobahn’s have the Fender audio system which comes stock with a built in subwoofer & great door speaker
What I didn't get about this anniversary edition is that it lost the openable roof and the electric adjustment of the driver's seat. I liked the black wheels, but the black trim of the mirrors and door handles are ugly IMO.
The reason the 40th doesn’t have those things is because it’s paying homage to the first Gli. Back in 1984 when the Jetta Gli was announced, it didn’t have power seats, a sunroof, a crazy audio system, or leather seats
@Reallseb Thanks! By chance all the reviews I saw about the GLI 40 were on the DSG version. BTW, I have the 2023 GLI DSG and love it. For my taste, DSG > Stick > Automatic w/ torque converter. Cheers!

@LegendInThaMakin Agreed!
I have a 40th as well and I'ma say ur lying to urself saying those seats r comfortable
@Athingmaybe123 I didn’t mind them personally

Super concise , quick and no nonsense review. Liked this!!
I was debating between anniversary edition or autobahn. Ended up with the autobahn. Great car! With that being said. Great video!
I like the no moonroof and more stripped down style of the 40th. Makes it feel more like the sports cars I grew up on. Can’t go wrong either way
Shout out from phoenix! Nice car man.
Thank you bro!
Picked up one in Pure Grey. Really enjoying it so far.
Awesome! I love that color, I would almost prefer it.
This is great video. I currently have 2005 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5!
i have 2008 jetta 2.5l with 360k kms and going strong, the i5 engine is a tank!
I know this video is a bit older but man do i want another gli. Last one i had was a mk4 gli vr6. Been looking for a newer one. Trying to find a lightly used manual gli 2019 and newer.
These new Gen Gil’s are pretty great honestly, you can find multiple nationwide with around 60-80k miles for about $20k

Great Review! I just purchased a gli 40th anniversary, any idea how to find out what number of the 1984 it is?
I’m not sure. There’s no indication on the vehicle, title, or 40th plaque saying what number the car was
I’ve got a 6MT in white and it is my favorite car ever. What value for the price. It’s a shame that the stock tires are as bad as they are, I had to replace those immediately.
Do they have remote start feature?
The 40th anniversary does not unfortunately, you can always install it. If you’re looking for creature comforts, you should definitely pick up the Autobahn!
3:55 What's with the warning sticker?
I just had the windows tinted the day before, it’s a sticker that reminds people to not roll them down for 3-5 days
If not the best FOR THE MONEY it's in the top 2 and I cannot see the other.
The Gli & Gti have always been a great sports car for the money, especially in the used market.
Had my 1 month just like this one... best car for the money
The 2019 to 2021 front bumper looks better without the red, any options for that or mods
I agree
Agreed on the front bumper, however whatever they did to the rear of the mk7.5 gli makes it look way more refined imo
I was not sure about the red accents in front initially but I have received many favorable comments. The car in white is a "looker". The manual is fun.
do the capacitive buttons bother you while driving. any accidental touches.

I agree, the 80s and 90s have some of the best cars. But Volkswagen did alright with this car
It does not have navigation and remote engine start.. which you may opt out for autobahn, but still does not have navigation

Would you 7upgrade this audio if you had the autobahn?@@Reallseb
The GLI beat the SI in every aspect, the question is what do you like the most, Honda or VW.
The top dog is the Autobahn however.
I am having too much fun driving the manual, so the radio is good but not that important for me.
What % tint do you have ?
5% in the rear & %15 on the front!

@Reallseb So it would make much more sense if this edition came with stick shift also, since stick shift is already available for the GLI. Cheers!
@mmaldonadojr Yes! The 40th comes in either a 6spd manual or a 7spd dsg/dct!
@Reallseb Thanks! By chance all the reviews I saw about the GLI 40 were on the DSG version. BTW, I have the 2023 GLI DSG and love it. For my taste, DSG > Stick > Automatic w/ torque converter. Cheers!
Guys can please suggest me with GLI or GLI 40th Anniversary Thank you
I would recommend the Gli or the Gli Autobahn if you can!
I have a white 40 th anniversary manual and it is great, peppy engine too!
Everything but driving it right? Driving a car is so overrated let's just look and talk about it. LOL
Wait you guys drive your cars?
Who misses the Black roof on the 40th edition white version???
automatic 🤮🤢
