I’m betting on it. Dealing with my 18 CRV atm. 110k miles. Leaking head gasket. Definitely disappointed in Honda for skimping out on the head bolts.

Yup just did a head gasket on a 17 crv. Hopefully they come out with a recall or extended warranty because it’s a shame they made the head gasket surface so small with all that boost.

I’ve heard rumors that the accord blown head gaskets were due to using regular unleaded gas (since the boost is turned up compared to the civic ) is this true?

2018 Honda Accord EX-L 1.5 73,300 miles. Just came back from the dealer. Started with christmas tree lights (every warning light) going off in the car. Thought it was a bad battery, bought a battery wasn't that. Misfire on cylinder 3. Blown head gasket with a possible leak or deformed engine. They recommend buying a new engine at a cost of around $10,000.00. Went down an internet rabbit hole and it seems that the problem is quite major with thousands of posts all over the internet. The problem is believed to be making the engine more emissions-friendly to deal with government ratings; what they didn't foresee was the gaskets couldn't take the pressure. I contacted Honda GoodWill and seeing what they say, I'm not holding my breath. I've owned 1998 Honda Civic, 2009 Honda Civic, 2013 Honda Accord, 2016 Honda Accord, and 2018 Honda Accord...it's looking like this will be my families FINAL Honda.

My former 2016 Chevy Malibu is kinda similar to your '18 accord. I had pre-mature cracked pistons and spark knock before 20k miles. Long story short the engine lost compression on Cylinder 1 and the block was toast. It was warrantied under GM at 59K miles. If I didn't opt for the extended warranty upon buying the car I would be like you with the same quote of $10K for a new engine. I went back to Honda about a year and a half ago with a 2012 crv. K24Z7 2.4L. Didn't want to deal with the L15 engine like your accord or the CVT. Sadly mine does have rattle on cold start and VTC actuator/stretched timing chain are common. But overall I'll take that tradeoff. Best of luck to your '18 Accord.

Seems like the 1.5 T engine has a reputation for head gasket issues. This is one of the reasons why people like the 2.0 K20c2 N/A port injection engine, which unfortunately is going away in 2025.

The new civic has the 2.0 k20c9. Not sure how reliable those are.

Let me guess, 1.5 turbo. How does went downhill so far since the early 2000s that's not even the same company they make a lot of junk these days I hate to say it cuz I used to love Honda and I miss that old VTech that the Honda Accord had that was probably one of the best motors ever made

Yeah just gotta go for their newest naturally aspirated engine before they stop making them. That’s what I did with my 2019 if a naturally aspirated 1.8L 4 cyl

Once a car has a head gasket issue better to just buy a new one. And stay away from that type of engine.
