Thanks for the great video. I feel obliged as a Yorkshire man to mention the Yorkshire Pudding, which is not a dessert, it is normally eaten with gravy along with roast meat and vegetables. 👍🏻
My pleasure John! Yes, Yorkshire pudding adds a whole new level of confusion to the “pudding” issue. I’ve had Yorkshire pudding at the pub in Epcot (Disney World), it was pretty good!👍
Pudding here in the uk is the sweet course after the main course. So exactly the same as desert lol.
Lovely carve. Thanks for sharing
I appreciate the insights on pudding. I heard someone refer to a “pudding wine”. Here in the States we would call it a desert wine. 🙂 Happy carving!
WOW these gnome are great.Thank you for sharing your videos and time
Thanks very much Scot, I’m happy to hear that you’re enjoying the channel!
Lol great carve. Thank you from the UK and all the puddings we enjoy. 😝
Thanks Andrew! I hope to visit the UK and try several puddings for myself.😄
Wonderful job. What knife are you using? Scott
Thanks very much Scott! That's a homemade knife. I took a beat up vintage straight razor and made it into a carving knife. It's become my "go to" knife.
Thanks for your time cousin…love it!
My pleasure Cousin Shane!
Thanks for your time and another fun tutorial Jack!!!!
My pleasure, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great fun carving. Thank you
Thanks very much Tom!
Nice little wizard! I like what you did with the wood burner - great job.
Thanks very much Stephen!
Great little project (now finished watching the video!). Great idea to use for a tic-tac-toe game. Never tried wood burning, one for my list in the future!
Thank you Roger! The wood burner comes in very handy, especially for making fine lines on small figures.
Great video my friend
Thanks very much Ron!
We brits use the word “pudding” as a generic term for the sweet treat after a main course. We use the word “dessert” as well, but it seems more specifically used in a formal meal setting (it would be used on a menu rather than the word “pudding”). “Puddings” can also be savoury items (steak and kidney pudding - in this case the filling is encased in a sort of pastry made from suet and is sometimes steamed to cook. Of course we have pies (either sweet or savoury) that are encased in pastry). We make a distinction between “biscuit” (rich tea, digestive, ginger nuts etc..) that are short (crispy) throughout and “cookie” which tends to be thicker and a little soft in the middle. Of course there are other differences in our languages (Jelly, Jam, Pencil Erasers, Crisps/Chips/Fries, ….) hence the use of UK English and US English in options in phone apps etc… I am sure these differences have provided lots of amusement over the years for tourists!
Hi Roger! Thanks for the additional information and for giving some context to the vocabulary. Sunni and I enjoy watching the Great British Baking Show and I've seen the bakers make lots of puddings including some of the savory puddings. Yes, I'm sure it's amusing when a brit comes to the southern US and sees "Biscuits and Gravy" on a breakfast menu. 🙂
I went and bought some of that sports wrap you recomended, it works great! Awesome carving as always!
Hi Andrew, glad you like the overwrap, it's great stuff! Thanks for your comment as well!
Thanks for the wonderful content. Very thorough, nicely done for beginners such as myself, please upgrade your audio, thanks!
You're very welcome! Unfortunately I recorded this video without my videographer and editor, Sunni. I also recorded using my phone which is old and hence the crappy audio.
what kind of knife are you carving with?
Hi Chris! That's my home-made knife. I made it from a vintage (and damaged) straight razor. It's one of my favorite tools!
@@whittling your vids are great to watch and follow to, specially for a newer carver like me. looking forward to more.
@@Kris__88 Thanks very much! I just posted a new tutorial today and I have a second channel called Wood Carving Weekly with lots of resources that you might want to check out.
@@whittling no kidding that's you? I just found that channel a couple weeks ago and have been binge watching all episodes lol that's how I found out about Flexcuts new knives, waiting on a set now. Very good info over there!
@@Kris__88 Yep, that's me. Thanks for watching, I'm happy to hear that the information has been helpful for you!
