I I'm undecided about this one. It would be quite bold for the accused to hire a hitman, promise $5,000, and then not follow through. The hitman mentioned that the accused claimed to be an engineer, but that alone doesn't prove guilt. That information exchange could have taken place when they spoke about the computer.
My grandmother was 17 years older than her husband, my grandfather . We never had any idea, no one did. Sadly he preceded her in death, she lived to be 102.
My mother was telling me about watching a transformer explode while she was driving. She was on Walton, near Heathrow, and took a big gulp of her coffee. It was lukewarm, but the peppermint creamer sometimes fools her. Anyway, she took the drink… gulp, really, and then two other sedans passed her. She wasn’t at the place where the speed limit goes up though. Why don’t the police do something about speeders there? Anyway, sorry, I was drinking my coffee… MOM! She’s been well evaluated for dementia. She’s just this way. So, it could be indicative of guilt or literally nothing.

Thank you, Kevin, for your thoughtful response and presentation of this case. You are my favourite Chanel because of the calm, unbiased way you deliver information. No drama, just facts!
No he doesn't. I can understand being in shock after the death of a loved one, but Chris acted as if he didn't really care. He never acted like a bereaved partner, not once. Disturbing.
I've seen a few different channels cover this case. Yes, his reactions were concerning to me, also. My impression of Chris was, and is, that he is on the autism spectrum, likely Aspergers, and that blunts his emotional range of expression. I am a bit surprised that didn't show up as a possible factor here in Kevin's coverage of this long saga.
There are so many weird things here. You'd think that someone who hires a convict to murder someone and then STIFFS the guy his 5000 dollars would think "Gee, this person will come back and kill me if I don't pay him since he knows where I live" ... right??

@19:47 it still wild to me that SCOTUS said it is legal for police to lie to suspects, but you can be charged with lying to the police. A clear double standard in the law like that should be addressed.
Police and suspects are two different things with differing intents, how is this puzzling? One is to solve crime, the other is to evade it, if involved in a crime which would you need/prefer?
@@hardwired8084our justice system was set up to favor suspects, not give police massive leeway. Amendments 4 to 8 are solely to tie government’s hands. What you should worry about is how often those lies end up implicating innocent people. I don’t know about Chris, although the confession is false if he hired someone else to do it, but there are literally hundreds of confessions that have since been proven false just in the US. The real question is, do you want people convicted of crimes or perpetrators to be convicted of their crimes?
It's not that clear. It is illegal to lie to the FBI but actual police or sheriff's deputies it's not a straight crime. The circumstances dictate the legality. Like giving a fake name on a traffic stop is a crime.
Bobby's confession details clearly covered ALOT of what the evidence at the scene showed. There were so many things he could not have known unless he was there
No, he was in the apartment before, how do you know the woman killed didn’t mention that her husband was an engineer? He knew the layout of the apartment, he also could have read newspaper reports, he just wanted a better prison.
Yep. The root beer, very specific, the broken clutch and location of car breakdown, that Andrea was wet, the strangulation.... Way too specific for anybody to just guess.
Shoe print on her body was an exact match to his sneakers. Did he offer an explanation? It's 1 solid piece of evidence, but not explained in this video, how this was handled by police & prosecution at the trial.
@@loveforeignaccents Exactly. He put that shoe print on her wet dead body while moving her from the position Bobby Joe had left her. Plus Chris admitted to police that he had cleaned up the house when he got home during his initial interrogation. Now we know why it took Chris six hours to "discover" her body after he got home from work--because he was cleaning up after Bobby Joe!!!!!
This is a man working 2 jobs. Subjected to police interrogation for 20 odd hour. Then the police lie to him, and like any good citizen thinks, well this must be true, police don't lie. At that moment he begins to doubt his own sanity. Manipulation plain and simple. coerced confession. Even if he is guilty, the police misconduct fouls the case. There is reasonable doubt all over this thing. I don't buy that he did it. I think the convict made it up.
Science back then was nowhere near accurate enough to say that his specific shoe definitely made the imprint. Especially as it’s not the sole, and it’s on the skin. I put zero stock in that supposed evidence
The work you put into your content is appreciated, Kevin! It’s refreshing to see that there’s at least one person on here that’s able to be unbiased and provide multifaceted accounts of cases.
The 911 call is classic for a narcissistic murderer... I have an alibi and story to tell. Not I just found my gf in the closet cold to the touch not breathing. Please help!
@@othertalk3313 True but he does exhibit many narcissistic traits. Leading the 911 call with an alibi is certainly an indicator of guilty knowledge. Also not checking for signs of life or administering assistance because you know the person's dead without verifying it... Very suspicious.
IDK. Honestly. We imagine ourselves to be some expert on how people will react to trauma. But I don't think we've ever tested our accuracy on such things. Some people may react differently... I'm a huge fan of the movie The Fugitive. And so if I approach a dead body, I might be hesitant to touch it in fear of creating evidence that makes me the killer.
Incredibly weird case! Why did he clean up? If Andrea answered the door to Bobby she would have had clothes on... he threw her in the bath (of water) to test her breathing then put her in the closet. So the investigators found her dead and damp and assumed she'd just got out of the shower. Who showers with their clothes on? Had the clothes been removed, and put in the wash (by Chris)? More questions than answers - another GREAT JTL story! ♥ My thoughts go out to Andrea's son Kevin, I hope he finds peace.
You know why Chris cleaned up. To cover up his murder-for-hire, which also explains why it took him six hours after getting home from work to "discover" Andrea's body in the closet.

Kevin, Thank-you once again for a well-researched presentation. I believe this is one of your oldest crime analysis but still it is interesting. I also like the ambience of your setting; cerebral yet warm, just purr-fect 😺.
"As soon as I reached out to touch her, she just laid down on the ground." As tragic as this case is, hearing how she just immediately gave up and resigned her life to be taken like that is absolutely heartbreaking.
He did not have to kill her, if he badly needed money he could have told her to pay him to disappear and go to the police. Period. Too many idiots in this case.
You know this whole fiasco could have turned out a whole lot differently if the 2 men involved were smarter. All Chris had to do was negotiate proper and fair terms and get a freaking divorce and all the hitman had to do was act as a double agent, have a convo with the wife telling her that he was sent to kill her but if she lets him take whatever he wants, he won't, the end. Especially since he was dumb enough to be doing this without having been paid yet. The husband would NEVER have turned him for fear of being exposed, he gets paid, the whole thing ends, she remains alive.
As a native Arlingtonian, I remember this case! I recognized his face immediately. I'm convinced he's guilty 100%. When asked if he put her in the closet he didn't say NO, as any innocent person would. RIP Andrea!
The husband's shoe print matched the nark on her body. That would make Bobby Joe's testimony true as he said her body was moved from how he had left her. This really was a bungled case
I will never understand how the US legal system works, how openly and knowingly lying to suspects about evidence can be acceptable! It’s lazy, do your jobs!
It’s to trick them. That’s why they always tell you to get a lawyer. In Canada it’s way worse! They spend so much money on months of undercover work pretending they are in the mob to get someone on murder charges only to give them 10-15 years.
that's cuz a lot of time they're not looking for who did it, they just need someone to go to jail for it. Hypothetically if they think it's the husband, they'll zero in on him and do everything in their power to make them confess or frame him. They'll literally waste so much time on the wrong person just so they can lead to a dead end. The US justice system is a joke.
What makes it even worse is that it's a crime if you lie to the police, while they can lie without consequence (unless the jury takes offense to it, as in this case, but still at no personal cost to the detectives involved).
Hey Kevin, you should know you bring the mystery to your true crime storytelling. You’re really good at captivating us. I get the ever so slightest feeling it’s 1985 again and I’m just a kid watching the Alfred Hitchcock tv show with my mom. Love it!👍🙏
What really struck me as odd was how many details he went into about things that were so insignificant. For instance, how many crackers he ate. I guess we will never know if he's truly guilty or not. However I am pleased with the verdict because they did not have enough information or evidence to support a guilty conviction. Another wonderful video, as always. By the way, your cat is adorable. You're set up where you do your videos, is so beautiful. This is the most underrated crime channel. You should have millions of viewers by now. Hopefully, you'll continue to grow and grow. Your voice is impeccable.
It seems in most of these videos, the killer--trying to play innocent--always over-explains something either in their 9-1-1 call or during their interrogation. For me though, I think Chris did hire the guy. Both men's interrogation details, along with the crime scene evidence, seem to fit together like a puzzle. A big one for me is Bobby Joe knew exactly what time Andrea would be home that Friday... 1 pm. She was normally never home at that time of day---and Chris did have foreknowledge that she would be home at 1 pm that Friday. Makes more sense than not that he did indeed relay this info to Bobby Joe.
This is so sick. What a terrible thing for her to be murdered and betrayed by the man she thought loved her. What I'll never understand is why someone who wanted out of a relationship wouldn't just man up, tell her the truth, and start over on his own? Instead of having her killed.
Kevin, you and Jose @ Evil Intentions never fail to make me feel like you're at my house, telling me about what happened to your family member. Your warmth & compassion while detailing the worst day of a person's life is unmatched.

Thank you for the time & effort you and Cathy have put into researching this case! 👍🏼🥰 As an aside, I was living in Arlington, Virginia (the picture in the beginning of Shirlington Village is where I lived), and remember this crime/case. I always thought Chris was guilty, as did many of my friends and coworkers. Just something about his story, attitude and reaction after Andrea was found dead. 🤔

Now I’m thinking the stepson was right this whole time bc Kevin included SO MUCH that the other shows didn’t include!! That’s why you’re my favorite channel! ❤
I am not at all convinced he is guilty, not even close. Could he be? yes I admit he could, I just don't think it all lines up.. Police misconduct was outrageous. That they furthermore went to "computer guy" in prison, saying they could make his stay easier if he knew anything about murder for hire. Good God! He totally worked with the officers to the extent he believed their lies, and doubted his own sanity. Its all just too much. Was he a guy with a guilty conscience for pay for porn, sure. A creeper, yup. That doesn't make him able to kill his wife. Airtight alibi ,
Holy moly. Haven't heard of this case, but as a single mom who is a lifelong swimmer and swim instructor and who is in library school right now... Wow, that intro gave me chills. ETA: after watching, wow, I do think both men are guilty. I cannot believe he got away with his role in that murder! I'm glad her son is at peace with the truth, regardless of verdict, and has been able to continue on in his life despite the horrible tragedy.
How can you not believe he got away with it?? There was no evidence at all except the word of know psychopath. If you were on the jury and would have convicted him that scares me.

Excellent video as always. How many takes does it require to get the kitty to sit still on the back of the chair during your intro? He very likely did it but the reasonable doubt was overwhelming.
I love the way you present your videos. Even if the case is pretty straightforward, you know exactly how to plot and position every element to give us that "ohhh!" moment. It was nice of them to join in again for this one. Usually they’re not too keen 🙂
The minute he said he ate 3 crackers and dropped the blue basket, I knew he was trying way too hard to explain himself.
LOL. Over-explaining seems to be a common theme with quite a few of the murder suspects in these videos.
Yep
My mother was telling me about watching a transformer explode while she was driving. She was on Walton, near Heathrow, and took a big gulp of her coffee. It was lukewarm, but the peppermint creamer sometimes fools her. Anyway, she took the drink… gulp, really, and then two other sedans passed her. She wasn’t at the place where the speed limit goes up though. Why don’t the police do something about speeders there? Anyway, sorry, I was drinking my coffee…
MOM! She’s been well evaluated for dementia. She’s just this way. So, it could be indicative of guilt or literally nothing.

If her car wasn’t there, why would her call out her name when he got home? Liar.
First thing I caught early on. He had said the car wasn't there.
Mmn. Good point
This guy seems guilty AF but i also wouldn't be surprised if he was innocent bc men never see ANYTHING. Even when it is right there.
This is so true. My ex husband would trip over his empty beer bottles and then ask why I hadn't washed his dirty dishes. Men!

He doesn't sound to unhappy knowing his partner is dead!
@@livingitup9647Everyone is now either autistic or narcissistic with y'all armchair doctors 😅

There are so many weird things here. You'd think that someone who hires a convict to murder someone and then STIFFS the guy his 5000 dollars would think "Gee, this person will come back and kill me if I don't pay him since he knows where I live" ... right??
Good point, which I happened to overlook.
Exactly 🧐🤔

@19:47 it still wild to me that SCOTUS said it is legal for police to lie to suspects, but you can be charged with lying to the police. A clear double standard in the law like that should be addressed.
What's even worse is that the SCOTUS ruled that you can't sue the police when they lie under oath.
SCOTUS is a joke, completely neurotic judges. Term limits are needed and a new process to select them.
SOO glad to see a new vid. I was going into JTL withdrawal! ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS CHANNEL!!💯👏🏼
Bobby's confession details clearly covered ALOT of what the evidence at the scene showed. There were so many things he could not have known unless he was there
i know! it was very believable imo. especially the engineer part!
@@nicoledenning8090and the root beer that Chris so casually mentioned.
No, he was in the apartment before, how do you know the woman killed didn’t mention that her husband was an engineer? He knew the layout of the apartment, he also could have read newspaper reports, he just wanted a better prison.
Bobby must of been at the hose to kill her, otherwise how would he have know that it was root beer as he stated in his confession
Yep. The root beer, very specific, the broken clutch and location of car breakdown, that Andrea was wet, the strangulation.... Way too specific for anybody to just guess.
Yay - the cats made an appearance, great video, not heard that story before, keep up the good work Kevin😊
I love listening to a story when there’s a cute little kitty cat just sitting politely listening with us. Makes me feel at home
I was more upset when I dropped one of my earbuds into the toilet then this guy was when he found his girlfriend/wife.
I always love the videos where the cat gets a cameo.
And, what a great case! Thank you, Kevin!!
Shoe print on her body was an exact match to his sneakers. Did he offer an explanation? It's 1 solid piece of evidence, but not explained in this video, how this was handled by police & prosecution at the trial.
Appears to me he/Chris did more after the fact in regards to what Bobby Joe had stated he did and how he had left things.
The police really did bungle this case. The interviews and undercovers were so bad
The 911 call is classic for a narcissistic murderer... I have an alibi and story to tell. Not I just found my gf in the closet cold to the touch not breathing. Please help!
Calling everyone and everything a narcissist is classic for a know-nothing armchair psychologist. 😏
The armchair psychologist is here! Thank god
My thoughts go out to Andrea's son Kevin, I hope he finds peace.
Good points/detective work!
You know why Chris cleaned up. To cover up his murder-for-hire, which also explains why it took him six hours after getting home from work to "discover" Andrea's body in the closet.

He sounded so calm and indifferent telling the 911 operator about his wife's death. Id be hysterical.
Oh, well, just my dead wife in the closet. No big deal. But, oh yeah, some of my coins are missing...
You would be hysterical…YOU.
Right. And then the "imagine if you did this" confession.
It is now illegal to lie in an interrogation in at least Oregon I believe. I expect it will spread
Love it!👍🙏
This whole thing was so odd!! Another great job Kevin
Too much over explaining for sure!
Yeah that stuck out to me too, who says “I ate 3 or 4 crackers” you just say “I ate some crackers” weird.
Hi, Kevin.
Wow! What a case. The cops messed up. 'Cause he is guilty as hell.
