I appreciate your determination to resurrect a lovely yet broken cabochon. For me it's symbolic. In one way or another we have struggled through the Pandemic. We had to rethink and rework our path to find our new way to survive. Battle scars are real - your cabochon is proof beauty prevails and it's a wonderful thing. (Von, you probably know this but it might be useful to other viewers. In order to avoid shiny areas when baking polymer clay pieces I place them on 2 or 3 layers of Tshirt fabric or a bit of polyester fiberfill. The latter is sold by the bag in fabric stores, Walmart, Amazon, etc. I have also had success placing 3 layers of clean, white typing paper between the clay and ceramic tile. If the paper is colored or there's print on the paper it could transfer to light colored clay or the clay could adhere to the ink. Thus far I haven't ever had any paper, Tshirt material or fiberfill catch fire. I used the same fiberfill for over 8yrs before replacing it. Loose glitter and gold leaf was stuck to it and I didn't want to risk it transferring. Maybe someone will find this useful.)

What a great idea. Even more so, add gold color to the cracks, or any color one would like. Love this technique. Thank you!😙

very pretty. I know the feeling of a huge work surface but leaving yourself, due to art supplies and such, only a small work place. lol

Trying using clear UV resin to dome it after all your baking. It will seamlessly seal and feel all the cracks and maintain the reflectiveness of the stone. This came out Fabulous!🤗🥰

That was great and super informative! I am trying to fix a bone necklace my husband made for me and I thought of using the polymer clay. I didn't realize there was a liquid version. Do you recommend using the clay or liquid for this?

I have some broken cabs and beads too. My question is would you sell a repaired piece or keep it for yourself? I feel like I would be deceiving my customer.

Hello, Ms A! If I were to sell a piece like this that used a broken cab I would be very transparent about it; to some folks it is a selling point and makes the piece even more beautiful!
