CGO makes game easier. 180deg 2h hit is op imo and higher dps when standing still ease the game too. Both can be turned off luckily. They should also do something with infinite rolls.
@@SkyrimExplorer I agree that the configuration options available could be more granulated but the overall combat experience isn't easier -- it's just streamlined. The 2H arcs don't necessarily make 2H weapons overpowered. They're best for crowd control but remain tricky to manage against tougher single encounters. This is why pairing CGO with Wildcat is the right balance for me. I can improve the intensity of fights with Wildcat's damage modifier control and make most weapons actually _feel_ like the lethal tools they're meant to be. And the combat AI also receives modest improvements with enemies able to take advantage of flanking, grip changes, timed blocks and bashes. The experience isn't perfect but it's far more intuitive and enjoyable than vanilla. It is as vanilla _should_ have been without overreaching the purview of Skyrim's simplified gameplay mechanics.
This is actually a pretty good combat set up. Mainly because trying to turn Skyrim into a dark souls clone will never work. It will always have some jank to it. I recently tried some third person combat mods and animation mods and while yes it's cool. It's very janky. The animations are also not perfectly smooth and don't all transition well into one another. Instead, playing Skyrim into it's strengths I think is better. Simply making what's there already but better. I'd also maybe add the mod "crouch sliding" which works great in first person as well
No offense but that's BS. I use the for honor movements by Smooth which I assume classifies as Souls like since it requires ADXP MCO. Though I never careD for making mu game like dark souls, I just want to make it better. You'd have no argument to say it looks 'janky', it looks great and so much better than what's shown here.

Saying the for honor pack is bad seem like a lie anyway because I've tried a few other ADXP MCO animation sets and they look pretty clunky at times. One of the biggest issues with Skyrims combat that never seems to be addressed is the enemies lack of reaction when being hit. It makes it feel like my weapons are just gliding through the enemy when I “hit” them. Games had figured this out king before Skyrim came along. Even just a little flinch and having the weapon stop and connect with the enemy would improve the feel of combat immensely.
Thank you so much for making a good Vanilla + overhaul! I've tried using some of the more Soul-like overhauls in the past, but I felt they were all so needlessly over the top and make the game harder to play in a not fun way. I've been trying to find a good balance between that and Vanilla and I think this is perfect!
i 100% agree, i liked the souls like action combat adxp / mco type of stuff but always felt like it does not encapsulate skyrims feel on a vanilla + setup rn way more fun tbh
Awesome video. I've just started modding skyrim again and the first thing I want to do is combat. I love TDM and TK Dodge but I had to choose because I can't side dodge with TDM. I decided to nix TDM. I neglected to look at all the features in TDM and completely missed the setting to turn it off when weapons are drawn. Ha, now I can use both! That alone makes this video worth the watch for me. A lot of other great ideas there. Thanks

I would like 2 additions with this. The dodge mechanic to be used by humans and elves NOCs as well. And some form of counter, like in the old Assassin's Creed games, where you'd have to press the counter button while blocking at the right timing to perform a counter move. And then I'd be happy with the combat. I dont much like Souls conbat besides the convinient rolling for dodging purposes. And I would love for it to be a dash dodge too. Like maybe you roll of you press the roll button while blocking, and dash if you press the dodge button without blocking.

Man these overhauls make it easy for lazy modder like me, i will always have you to thank. and what's that mod that makes the shield pan over to the side that it's being attacked from when parrying
I love nearly all of Enaisiaion’s player-character mods. With his combat mods as an exception. If I remember right, each one I’ve tried features a stamina drain that begins with the start of combat. So it’s not enough that you don’t regenerate stamina, and everything costs more of it, but that it starts to drain the instant a red dot appears on your compass. Edit: you don’t regenerate stamina *in combat*
I can't speak for the other combat mods but this one stamina does regenerate during combat especially with Valhalla combat and stamina only drains when you are holding a drawn bow.
Under rated mod for vanilla dodging is quick spell dodge it works instantly and is a lesser power, with all variations for roleplay like stealth dodge, master dodge, ethereal dodge.
Thank you for this dude. I've been looking for some QoL and refreshing overhauls that don't try and turn it into a Souls game. Minus the hitboxes and skating, I actually prefer vanilla and this just builds on that while fixing those two issues.
Hey there! I am incredibly new to the modding scene for Skyrim, I was wondering if you have a nexus collection for this "Vanilla Plus" style mod list, to make things bit easier for the newbies?
Ok, I finally managed to understand why I couldnt do directional heavy attacks. I had the MCO/ADXP installed, and I think MCO prevents you from using directional heavies. Soft, do you know if the version ADXP works with this? I wanted to add new combat animations to my enemies if possible.

Installed all of these and now all the enemies have very little health, usually dying from one hit, anyone know how to fix this?
I'm literally playing on an I5 Laptop. And this shit still works smoothly wtf
what graphics or enviromental mods are you using?
i mean if i can run it with a 1660super :(
letteraly perfect exactly what I was looking for thanks for your hard work brother !
Killmoves was my main enjoyment out of Skyrim combat
Without them i'm bored there
Wildcat is better than valravn just saying
I love how as you said "cinematic" a draugr went helicopter mod lmao.
Go away I'm playing fallout. I'm not modding skyrim again 😂
Those HEMA insoired swing attacks from Leviathan are sexy
Man these overhauls make it easy for lazy modder like me, i will always have you to thank.
and what's that mod that makes the shield pan over to the side that it's being attacked from when parrying
anyone know how to get TK Dodge RE to work properly…not doing it for me:/
I love nearly all of Enaisiaion’s player-character mods.
Ok. I might be thinking of Smilodon or Wildcat.
@@yohef4537 This feature is not in Wildcat although it does have the option for stamina drain while actively swimming or holding a drawn bow.
Under rated mod for vanilla dodging is quick spell dodge it works instantly and is a lesser power, with all variations for roleplay like stealth dodge, master dodge, ethereal dodge.
hey which graphics mods are u using?
this one is the best combat overhaul. everything else doesnt feel like skyrim to me.
When top best roleplaying mods ? Like eating animations , etc...
I can't even get my land overhaul right... In console was so easy😢
What mod are you using to get those shield animations at 0:28? I downloaded CFPAO but that was not one I saw in the installer
Must be CFPAO, its the only first person animation being used unless the block is vanilla
Thanks!@@SoftGamingOfficial
Do any of these mods change the Combat Animations for the AI?
Thank you for this dude. I've been looking for some QoL and refreshing overhauls that don't try and turn it into a Souls game. Minus the hitboxes and skating, I actually prefer vanilla and this just builds on that while fixing those two issues.
EVE no skating fixes vanilla sliding, recoil skate fix, and large stagger fix help vanilla. OAR animations help bring vanilla to life.
Anime sword trails are just silly.
Why does blocking arrows cost magicka??? And the reflecting seems way too op
