    This is an excellent step by step explanation of how to replace the stator. This guy adds a lot of extra details and suggestions, which is very helpful too.
    As a first time motorcycle owner, after getting myself a 2002 Sportster 883, to learn to wrench on and ride, I realized this is to much for me to do, especially since I'm not a mechanic. If I had someone who knows all this stuff & was available to help me if i needed it, I wouldn't hesitate to follow this video. But for anyone who has knowledge of wrenching and has the tools, this video is all you need.
    I'm definitely saving this guy's video and channel for a later date. Thanks for a great video!!

    You dont have to pull clutch pack if your just doing stator just remove lock ring on clutch adjuster to gain access to bolt.The closet snap ring to adjuster.Alot of times pressure plate snap ring race will break.

    • @KnobleMoto
      @KnobleMoto  Місяць тому

      Yes, you are correct, you do not have to pull the clutch apart. I was doing a clutch swap while I had it apart. I didn’t think of editing the clutch plate removal out when I did the video.

      It goes to the battery. It’s nice if you can run it through a relay, but not necessary.

    Why would my main shaft nut. The one on the clutch side. The nut and shaft are spinning together

    Do you do the clutch while replacing the stator like doing the water pump when doing a timing belt?

      15k on a 2019

    • @KnobleMoto
      @KnobleMoto  4 місяці тому +1

      No. It’s not that in depth that if you do one, you do the other. I just did it while I was in there, and for the video content. At 15k the clutch is probably still good. But there is no way to tell without taking it apart and measuring the disks.

    Very good video: But i thought it is a very big NO NO to put the springplate back in the clutch . Because it is a big problem when the plate brake in two parts after some time. A common problem .

    • @jonnymac8925

      He is suggesting that while you had the clutch plates out that you should have replaced the OEM plates with an extra plate clutch pack to replace the dreaded grenade plate (rivetted plate in the centre of the plates). I hope my explanation makes sense haha

    What would happen if I turned the clutch nut to the left with a impact not knowing it was reversed thread

    • @KnobleMoto
      @KnobleMoto  2 місяці тому

      Either the clutch would slip, or you will need a new input shaft for your transmission

    Ops, never use a screwdriver to get covers off #?@!. Use a soft rubber hammer & tap them sideways.
    I have worked on many old bikes, which leaked oil due to this practice ! 🤪🔧🇬🇧.
    Saves work in the long run, having to lap cases !

    • @KnobleMoto
      @KnobleMoto  5 місяців тому

      You’re right. In this case it’s not like the screwdriver was hitting a machined surface. But in general, screwdrivers are a no no 😂

    • @jonnymac8925
      @jonnymac8925 4 місяці тому

      I mean, you would have to drive the screw driver in there pretty far since the rubber seal is in the inside about 2.5+ inches lol

    I didn’t watch this entire video from this dude but you DO NOT need to remove the entire clutch pac to change the Stator. Just the first snap ring you see when you remove the clutch lever and not the one that holds the clutch pac in. Once you remove that first snap ring that’s not under ANY pressure at ALL, the entire clutch assembly with the gear will come out. He did a lot of unnecessary work. You also don’t need to use that string to guide the stator wire through the engine. I don’t recommend this video at all if you’re doing this job. Look for another better video that doesn’t involve all the wasted time.

    • @KnobleMoto
      @KnobleMoto  Місяць тому

      Yep. I did a clutch replacement when I shot this. I forgot to edit the clutch disk removal part out.
      But you’re definitely going to need something to help you snake that wire. But you do you.

    • @cheezit58
      @cheezit58 Місяць тому

      @@KnobleMoto With a good light you can route that stator wire through the channels with just a little bit of patience. It’s not hard. You might want to edit your video and remove all that work you did including the tool you made for the clutch so viewers are not having to do all that extra work if they are only replacing the STATOR. That’s your call. Just suggesting that. Hope that helped.
