from JAPAN. You mentioned Love Bites, and in fact, ASAMI, HARUNA, and MIDORI from Love Bites were at this show to watch near the catwalk on the second floor. And Love Bites drummer HARUNA and BAND-MAID drummer AKANUE are friends. Even though these two bands have different musical styles, there is no doubt that they are great representatives of Japan. Please continue to follow up with these two bands.
Hi Mike, just when you thought BAND-MAID couldn't possibly get any better...they get better don't they.😁 "Don't You Tell Me" doubler next, please, MV first then live from Yokohama. I can't reccomend it anymore it's bursting my throat.😫
I suggest you read the Rolling Stone (Japan) interview, they go in depth on how the band works. From how they manage themselves to stay together for 10 years. AND how they create their songs. Hint - the Band composes the music, Miku is the primary lyricist. But Saiki wrote the "Hate?" lyrics.
Precisely the reason I made this! "Akane isolated drum audio on HATE? live at Yokohama Arena 2023" ua-cam.com/video/Lc6hy30kUlE/v-deo.htmlsi=k9_e22XqgN2mTqPx
Thank you for your wonderful comment. Rock music has been declining in popularity recently, but some rock fans in America, the birthplace of rock music, say that Japanese rock groups are revolutionizing melody composition and performance techniques. I think this group is one of the best in the world right now. They have over 130 original songs, and new songs are being released all the time. Every song is great. Be sure to check out their latest official video. 🤩
Kanami Tōno. Sixty one of inches of absolute ROCK GODDESS in sensible shoes. Not to mention being the most outstanding composer in modern music. I give thanks every day that I have lived long enough to experience her music. (I'm not even kidding).
Have to love "Hate?". Band-Maid is amazing...as they make a song about pure hate sound so upbeat and good. 😂 You mentioned Akane in the background holding it down. But don't forget about our favorite little pigeon, Miku. When she comes back in at the second short set of call and response by MISA and Kanami, she fills in the gaps beautifully. She was standing on the top of the risers in the background. I wish they had cut to her, for just a flash so she would get some of the attention of what she added. Both Lovebites and Band-Band are awesome bands, but wait...there's more...so explore more in the Japan rock and metal scene. You won't regret it. Yet at the end of the day, Band-Maid will forever hold a sweet spot as #1 in my heart. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
Led Zeppelin was a great band no doubt but a great deal of their music was derivative of blues. Some songs were ripped off of black musicians like Memphis Minnie etc. Not so with BandMaid
@chrisegbertky All true. But so is the fact their name is synonymous with Rock. I saw them in 79 but it wasn't their best gig...as Plant admitted years later, saying they should have toured instead of appearing twice in just one venue.
With Band-Maid your favorite song will change. it will usually be the last one you listened to or the one that comes into your head as you are doing something else.
The dual was Misa = Bass and Kanami = lead guitar. Miku (pronounced Mee-Koo, not Mee-Kuh) is background singer and rhythm guitar. Kanami has been teaching her guitar for several years. Miku was up on the upper stage for this, and is generally in the center with the other two to her left and right
Band-Maid is a Japanese rock band formed in 2013, consisting of singer Saiki Atsumi, guitarist/singer Miku Kobato, lead guitarist Kanami Tōno, bassist Misa, and drummer Akane Hirose. The band combines a rock sound with a maid image modeled on Japanese maid cafés. They are currently signed to Pony Canyon.
Introducing The Band... Misa [mee-sah] (Barefoot Assassin) - Bass Guitar Miku [mee-kuu] (Small Pigeon) - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist, Band Founder Akane [aah-kah-neh] (Gorilla) - Drums Saiki [sigh-kee] (Sai-Chan) - Lead Vocals Kanami [kah-nah-mee] (Mincho) - Lead Guitar, Songwriter Only Saiki can deliver those brutal cut down lyrics and end the song with a thank you and a huge smile on her face. You will learn many things about Band-Maid that you didn't even think you needed to know.
💜💛❤💙💚 3.5 hours, 33 song setlist (this was #27) Best part? I was there.😁 My only Okyu-Ji so far but if they don't announce a break next year (God forbid) I will see a couple no matter where they are. (preferably Europe🤞) MikU = Red Rose Kanami🥰 = Lead guitar 😉😂😂
I was ten feet from MISA when they played this in a tiny venue in Sacramento. It had become the signature song of their tour. For good reason. Thanks for checking this out. Great commentary.
HATE? is part of a 2-song seamless transition performance. DICE is the first song. If you watch a Lollapalooza 2023 video - DICE/HATE, you’ll be able to watch it. And this performance again!
great reaction. Loved watching you get your mind blown away. Hee are a couple of fun facts.you might enjoy. Members of Lovebites ( Midori, Haruna, and Asami ) were at this concert showing support. The drummers Akane and Haruna are friends and often go out for food.
Just think, this particular show was 3.5 hours long! You will get there with the names, but it's Miku, not Mika. Japan is just full of awesome bands, literally hundreds of them. Rock didn't die - it moved to Japan!
Don't see many comments on the Miku, (Mee Koo), add in strums when Kanami is answering Misa's bass, but they really add a great touch to the bass/guitar conversation!

Then there is a band called "Gachric Spin' much funkier for a very cool change. Checkout their song called "Mindset" it will definitely reset your mind.
There is NO Mika! It's Miku! If you're still having problems with the names, watch the documentaries, you'll never forget them. As for LOVEBITES, why in the hell would you get the Best Noodle Meister Show Off Bassist in the world and then put her on a leash? That's absolutely pointless! It's a Noodle Meister Show Off Band! They still treat her like a junior after two freakin' years! WTF?

The lead guitare of BAND MAID name KANAMI get her own signature model of PRS GUITAR. She's the 1st female japonese guitarist to had this honor by PRS
So well deserved! Yay for Mincho!
Actually she is the first Japanese guitarist (Male or Female) to have this honor from PRS
Gotta love the little spin move Miku makes at the end of the song.
This concert last 3,5 hours and contained 33 songs 🤘🔥❤️
KANAMI! 😅is the lead guitarist and composer of their music. Pure genius. Most impressive musician of the 21st Century. Thank you for reacting 🤘
