      Seriously one of the best looking 67s I have seen online. period. I love a GTO, I own a Lemans, and Tempest but just in general, this body style is the best thing no matter what model you have IMO. Well done, Johnny. My 67 drives, also with original 326 with freshly rebuilt TH400. This was just cool to watch.
      I may have missed it, but you said you ran Flowmaster 40s, what are those cutoffs? Does the shorter exhaust do anything for sound? Or is it a functional thing for HP? Compression?

    • @johnnyteunissen7707
      @johnnyteunissen7707 4 роки тому +2

      @@gaitan79 The Flowmaster 40's are the brand of muffler I run. Instead of exiting all the way to the rear, the exit and dump down just before the axle. The cutouts are electric valves, that allow the exhaust to exit just after the headers. You are almost running straight exhaust at that point. If you Google electric exhaust cutouts, you will see what I mean.

    I had a 69 Pontiac LeMans in High School. My father had bought it for me I was 16 years old, it belonged to a friend of ours. Our friend sold the car to my father in 1986 for $150 it needed another engine my father at the time owned an Automotive Garage where we service cars for the public until 2005. My father had to give up doing auto mechanics after having a heart attack and wrenching his back. I married for the second time in 2006 my wife and I spotted a 1968 Pontiac LeMans in a neighboring county. I actually knew the owner once I got to the house he was wanting to purchase a boat his wife wanted him to keep the car but he sold it to me for $2,500. I drove the car a few years and set it up for health reasons, recently I have been able to start back working on this project and hope to get it up and running spring or early summer of 2022 . I have always had a deep affection and appreciation for PONTIACS . Hope to be cruising my '68 LeMans ,Solar Red w/ Pearl White interior , Pontiac soon.Thanks for the Awesome video on this one . Hope to see more PONTIAC videos in the future 💕 Thanks Guys

    As a Pontiac owner myself, I appreciate the owner of this Tempest keeping it original Pontiac all the way. LS engines are great platforms, no doubt about it, however it takes a dedicated person to go with a different platform, something old school that not a lot of people will try. My Butler Performance 505 Pontiac stroker in my Trans Am is a perfect example of what Pontiac can do and the owner of that beautiful Tempest should check out Butler Performance and see what the magic they could do with his 455. I guarantee he would be happy with the power and reliability of one of their stroker engines and it would give his Tempest a completely different attitude. That Tempest is one bad ass looking car and much respect to the owner for doing it himself and not doing something that everyone else has.

    Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I once read that John DeLorean, while engineering for Pontiac in the early 60's, took a ho-hum company Tempest he was using as a commuter and had installed a peppy V-8 with a Hearst shifter into it. After he drove it for awhile, the execs found out and borrowed it from him. They had so much fun with it he rarely got to drive it again! The birth of the GTO and the rise of the U.S. muscle car era followed shortly. This video sure brings honor to this owner/builder. Thanks for sharing. Super cool video! My dad had a brand new Pontiac Custom S. Looked like a GTO, but sleeker without the ram air, unfunctional wing and stripes. The stock 350 was hitting 335 HP and would do 0-60 in 5 seconds. Not bad for back in the day. Unfortunately the car ended in tragedy after an accident bent the frame and broke off the motor-mounts off the engine itself. Hence it was totalled and my dad at the time decided it wasn't worth the expense to fix albeit the technology available in 1978. There went my dream-car, off to the junk yard. I would still have that car today if the decision was made to keep it.
    Any, back to this video. There comes a time where cruising down the street with a badass looking and sounding car, even though it is slower than others, that gives peeps the opportunity to enjoy the art while passing by.
    For what worth is it when a car goes by at twice the speed and makes you wonder what its all about when you get a 2 second glimpse?
    Just my "old school" thoughts.
    Beautiful car though with a lot of appreciation on the build!

      Thanks for the compliments! Your story is very interesting and if we only knew back then what we know today, we would have scooped up so many of these classics and kept them. I'm not gonna lie, I wouldn't mind a little more horsepower, but I'm happy with what I have. I am more happy to own a classic car with cool body lines that I can cruise with my boys and pass the hobby and passion down to them. 🤘🤘

      @@johnnyteunissen7707 Yes, it is a great story. In fact, my Dad also had a 65 Pontiac Bonneville 4 door that we used to go to church in every Sunday. I had 4 sisters, so the big car was necessary. Even so, I would be in the back-seat but leaning on the front-seat backs as my Dad would be doing 85-90 on the way to church. LoL. But that is where I caught the need for speed as well a a full respect on the muscle cars of the day.
      As for the Custom S, I forgot to mention is was a 1969 and only 700 or so were built. It was supposed to be my car at 16 when licensed, but my older sister took it to work about a year earlier and turned left in front of someone.... Hence the damage. It wasn't even a hard it, but was enough to do irreparable damage at the time. Some you win, some you lose, but never pass up an opportunity when you know its a great one!
