I have never needed an oil filter wrench in any of the cars I’ve had, until I got the Toyota Corolla. I can’t believe how tight that thing was and you can’t grab it and the filter is tiny.
I purchased this tool after discovering that the oil filter housing on my Highlander has been installed over torqued and 2 of the 3 tabs are broke. Thanks for the unboxing. I look forward to get my hands on this thing.
Check out the Baxter Performance cartridge to spin on oil filter adapter. I put one on my Lexus Gs350, they are a bit high priced, but they are very good quality. Made in USA.
Got the new style after your video. Got the old style ones too lol. Used it on the plastic oil housing on a corolla and the wrench got stuck a little. Light tap on the ground and it was free.
Thanks for the video. I had a problem with my plastic housing cracking with the slotted wrench. I switched to the metal housing. I will buy that new wrench that you showed.
Just one safety important point..Please show everyone proper jack stands/Floor Jack for what you do...Its not funny how you drive over those so called ramps..Mobile Mechanic 30 years..Safety is key....
I bought this motivX kit, with this new updated piece…did my 1st oil change, on my 2022 Tacoma V6, with plastic housing, I had to bang, pry, beat, wobble, etc to REMOVE it from the housing once I got it off the motor…then..again, when I torqued it back on the truck…truck only had 27,800 when I bought it, did oil at 32,500..I have a metal housing I purchased, if I have this problem again I’ll use the metal housing, but on the plastic, has anyone else had the problem of updated metal wrench binding to plastic housing?
Awesome video man and the starting blooper was funny 😂. I have ramps also and almost went over with my tundra too 😅.. Cheers from Chicago . Placed an order for that bundle 👌🏼
I think the older style is better. It covers more of the canister so it's easier to remove, plus the teeth make it even better to latch on. If you're worried about the tightness, buy a torque wrench and torque to spec.
Strongly agree. It’s hard metal and made in the USA with high quality materials, too. Plus what you’ve said about covering much percentage of the housing and adding secured grip to the tips. I’m using it since 2019 and I’m a ride share driver and never had a complaint. I say the price worth it. Good “honest” job MotiveX
By the way, torquing is not an issue. I always used hand torque to tighten the oil filter housing. Never leaked. I recommend to upgrade the plastic housing with the original aluminum one from Toyota, durable, last long and not expensive, too.
I like the old style with the teeth while the amsoil filter is better than the Toyota oem filter… Penzoil ultra oil is rated better than amsoil oil…that what reviews have shown consistently for the tundra recommend the fomoto drain plug valve controls the drain much better. 8 1/2 guartz cretes splashing when the plug is pulled because of the volume
The plastic housing is the same quality as the aluminum version. If you do buy an aluminum version, buy it directly from your dealership. Toyota oil filter housings contain a calibrated spring that is specifically calibrated to your exact vehicle.
Man just did my first diy oil change on the lx this weekend following your videos…. My filter housing is all brittle and breaking apart…. Scary stuff, glad to see that u are upgrading to an aluminum unit!
Just started my own synthetic mobile oil change business less than 3 years ago and I despise this damn filter housing. I put a hairline crack in one as I could not get it off so I had to put an impact to it. Then I had to drive to get O'Reilley's to a $35 aluminum replacement 😅😅😅
I hate the old syle! I have 2 of them and have trouble with every Lexus/Toyota filter. Just did a 2019 Tacoma V6 and put an impact gun with 450lb-ft of torque and the thing would not move with the trigger held down. Last week I put a hairline crack in this filter on a 2011 Camry by using the gun and tapping the trigger. Had to go get an aluminum replacement for $35 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@RobDaman, a couple of these cars were serviced at the dealer all the time. I did a 2015 Lexus GX460, 2 weeks ago and I had the same issue. I ordered this wrench because a lot of Honda's use a 64mm 14 flute filter as well.
$27.00 for a simple piece of shaped metal, wow. The screw on plastic funnel, wait for it .... $25.00 and for the plastic drain tubing $23.00. But, because you're a nice guy, they will sell you all three for the incredibly low price of $65.00. Save yourself the money, go to a flea market or wait for a sale somewhere. It's incredible how in America everyone is trying to take advantage of their fellow man. It probably costs $10.00 for all three of these, but here we go in the good ole US it's $65.00. Incredibly sinful nature of people.

I’ve used this for two years on my 2016 Prius (plastic filter housing) with no issues. Works great.
I bought the MotivX socket because its not just pressed metal but a casting. Its definitely worth the money !
Jesse turned around so quick and was like I’m just drinking! Love seeing father and dad working on cars together.
He's grown up too fast and I'll have a team of kids helping me soon
I have never needed an oil filter wrench in any of the cars I’ve had, until I got the Toyota Corolla. I can’t believe how tight that thing was and you can’t grab it and the filter is tiny.
I feel the older design is better in loosen the filter housing than the newer design, but the newer design has more quality you can tell 👍🏼
I purchased this tool after discovering that the oil filter housing on my Highlander has been installed over torqued and 2 of the 3 tabs are broke. Thanks for the unboxing. I look forward to get my hands on this thing.
Did you replace the housing with an aluminum one yet?
@@RobDaman not yet. I didn’t know the aluminum housings were out there. But that’s the next purchase!

You tha man Jesse‼️💛 just subbed. Love tha content. Much love from Hawaii
Yes the new style can get stuck on but is definitely worth getting, keep the old style too if you have it.

Awesome 👍

I should have used crawl control 😃
Check out the Baxter Performance..cartridge to spin on oil filter adapter. I put one on my Lexus Gs350.
Now you need a Fumoto drain valve for your oil pan.

I never torque to spec as I think it will leak according to the manufacturers specifications. I always hand tighten oil filters by hand, never leaks.
Will this work for a 67 Nash Rambler
Great job

I’m totally getting that tool! My old one is starting to break.
lifetime guarantee on this one too 👍
Hi, do you find the new one better than old one?
it's easier to not look for the 'wings' on the filter to fit right. the bigger advantage is the forged center part that is replaceable if damaged. 👍
So this one tool will fit my 06 Camry 4cyl, 02 Avalon v6 and my 2003 Tacoma v6? That would be great if it did I use Toyota filters on all of them
Thank you for the video
Use wheel chocks
Rob any plan upgrading the fog light on lx570
I'm trying to yes. Supply chain issues
Does anyone have a tip on removing the oil wrench off the filter once it’s off the car
I don’t want to damage the oil wrench
What size wheel and tires do you have on the LX? Thanks
they're 285s on TRD rock warriors. I'll do a vid soon about them. 👍
Does not fit my 2000 Camry but does fit my 2014 Camry.
C’mon man! Now I gotta go replace my outdated MotivX filter wrench! Lol
It's just adding to the collection 😉
My 2013 has the plastic housing, what’s the part number for a metal replacement?

what drive wrench?

3/8
Fits Tacoma 3.5 liter oil filter yes?
Yep 👍

70 dollars on Amazon, seriously?
Doesn’t fit 1st gen sequoia
WOULD THIS WORK FOR 2019 RAV4?
Yup. Hit the link in description and it'll show you fitments
Amsoil oil so overrated.!

tool still getting stuck, Toyota smh!!
Blame the last guy who tightened it. The housing is marked with 25 nm torque.
Maybe if you dont like made in America stuff you should get out
