He went back to Kosovo many years later to see how things were going and to try to find the translators & a couple families he spent time with while there. He said he wrote this song in 10 minutes outside of his tank to try to process the horrific things he was seeing & experiencing. "He has been here" was what everyone said about the enemy having come through. Thank you for your reaction.💛
ive seen him singing this song live many times and i still cant understand how he hits those notes - getting that angry and sad and still sings those notes is just amazing i would 100% break in the middle of the song
This one is tough, especially now, but also very important. This song was released 2 years after he retired and he is a big patreon of "Help for heroes" who deals with ptsd etc. He wrote this in the barracks in Kosovo and sang for his fellow soldiers before he was known and released his first album "Back to Bedlam" (great album!) He went on tour to promote the album and raised tens of thousands of dollars with the proceeds for "doctors without borders". I liked your "I'm on the side with innocent people", and I totally agree. It's a shame that civilians on "both sides" are being discriminated and harassed, even in countries far away from any war. What the f!@# is going on when people can't differenciate between the leadership and it's people?! You can't judge a whole people based by the actions of a few! It has always frustrated the heck out of me! Thanks for the reaction, still a couple tough ones to go, but I promise, I will sprinkle in some happy ones too ❤
Whenever the war between russia and Ukraine started it was being talked about amongst the primary schools. And my oldest daughter in particular had friends of both russian background and ukrainian backgrounds and her other classmates had turned on the russian girl in her class and was asking my daughter not to be friends with her, she became very upset as they're best friends and she came home in tears and asked what should she do. And i said she's your friend no matter where she is from it doesn't matter, her family aren't part of this they're innocent and even those that are fighting don't want to be part of this in the fear of not returning to their loved ones. I said she needs you right now as friend to be a friend more than anything just as well as her Ukrainian friends. You don't pick a side you're friends to both because they're innocent bystanders in all of this. And futhermore your teacher needs to shake her head and step up to prevent that kind of hatred and not allowing it to escalate. People need to stop breeding hate all the wars past and present and yet we still haven't learnt anything from any of it
My husband served in Vietnam. Their body comes home but not their minds. As you watch James sing you hear and see the pain in his voice and eyes. I know the look very well. My husband is at rest finally. War is hell. It destroys people.
First time I hear this song. These facts consistently hit you right in the gut .I would like to hope for a better world for the benefit of all.... But reality it's so sad
Great reaction to this song. It's heavy but good to remember and reflect on because this happens every day and ignoring it doesn't make it go away. But we also need hope to move forward and try as best we can to promote goodness in this world. I think you articulated better! 😁
You can tell it means a lot to him. James conveys emotions so well. As long as there are people there will be war unfortunately. As you say songs like this shouldn't exist..but they have to. It's the same as songs to do with School Shootings, I can name about five from the top of my head. But since the 70s there are over 50 songs on the topic, some very big hits. Still nothing changes!
Saeed, your heartfelt reactions manifest such deep insight; thank you. I'd be interested in your interpretation of who the "he" is in the refrain, "he has been here"
Im 46 this year & I listen to this song & think of the news reports of other wars & 'conflicts' ive seen over the years. I see the he in the song as being War or Death, im never sure which (maybe both). Just gathering up those affected. That they pass over some & not others always has me shaking my head. The discordant notes just adds to the complexity of the song.
I had never heard this song before but it’s so sad and the video is real 😢😢. I agree, I’m also on the side of innocence. The world is scary these days with everything. Thanks Saeed
Your comment about how there's never been a time of peace made me think of this absolutely excellent video called "The Fallen of World War II". I really hope you have a watch, it's such an interesting way to look at what happened and what has happened over the years.
Knap!
Hun vader is achter gebleven bij de grootouders. balcan wars reffer to fall of former yugoslavia. wars were on teritory of slovenia (2 weeks only), croatia, (1991-1995), bosnia (1992-1996) and kosovo ( it started there in late 80ties actualy, ended in 1996 i think finaly NATO dcide dit was enough of that insanity), james blunt served in kosovo. i am from croatia and it was all same everywhere, my city was under 3 month siege, flatten to ground, i was 9 years old and spent 2 additional days in a city after a fall. since then i suffer from complex ptsd. today i am 42 years old.. and this song hits too hard...
There will always be people who want what someone else has unfortunately. It won't be the decision makers or their kids who get deployed either. The decision makers will be safe.
@@SaeedReacts. I always felt as a miliary man James was probably not the sort of person to comfortably express himself and that singing was how he told the world how he felt. He has such authenticity and oozes sincerity
Saeed, your reactions are always terrific ~ no self-aggrandizement, no screaming, no tattoos ~ just deep sensitivity to the music you review. Thank you for that. You may also like James Blunt's 2011 song, "No Tears" ua-cam.com/video/SltwLDaGadc/v-deo.html
When will war end and we see a better world I’m so afraid of what the world will find out if the Ukraine war ends. I only see atrocity and madness. Will we all pretend we didn’t know.
I don't think he realizes the , he, is Satan. His end is near he is fighting every people who r made in the image of the Lord. I think he still has ptsd.

You can still see the pain in his eyes when he sings about it years later😢

I truly appreciate those kind words. Thank you, Jimmy. Have a wonderful day.

I would be the same, would not get through that. Powerful song.
Carry You Home is a sad but beautiful song by James.
And based on his time in the Infantry.
That reaction should come somtime this weekend.
My favorite ❤️

this song just hits my heart and soul, another empathetic reaction saeed
It definitely hits hard. It's a scary world we live in, but i do try also point out the positives. There is much beauty too. Thanks for being here ❤️
Another beautiful reaction. I agree with you - I'm on the side of the innocent people as well. Well spoken 💜💜

The video clips he recorded himself. Try “ I’ll carry you home “ great reaction
Oh wow, his own footage. That reaction is coming sometime this weekend.

It’s sad that James blunt songs are so underrated, he’s a great story teller and they have messagd
Very powerful and important. And he is an amazing storyteller.
James Blunt is indeed a very underrated talented sing and song writer. I m so so excited and looking forward to go to his upcoming concert in Sydney.
I think when he says "HE" has been here. I think he's referring to war
💯

Sadly i have to agree 😞
That was his tank with his guitar strapped on the front
You can hear the anger in hs voice
Indeed! I could feel it
