Because trying to equate weight loss to calories is useless. Eating 2500 calories of whole plant based foods and you wont gain weight. The key is all the added fiber. Eat 2500 calories a day of processed garbage food (zero fiber) and enjoy your diabetes!
Ive lost 25 lbs in 2 months from cutting out a lot of junk food, eating more fruit and sticking to eating a certain number of calories a day. Plus I do some aerobic exercise 2 times a week for 4 hours total. I loosen up on the weekend and have a few cheat meals but I don't go crazy. Seems to be working. I was 270lbs 2 months ago now Im 244lbs. Like they say its a long term commitment but if you are just consistent it works.

To summarize: Losing weight slower is much better as your body doesn't adjust it as rapidly. Just reduce your food intake by 10 calories (everyday) and eventually you'll lose a pound, but you will see the difference in around 3 years. Good luck to everyone who is on their weight loss journey!
as someone who suffered from an eating disorder for about three years of my life, this is extremely helpful. I went from 115lbs to 168 in two years and it has been very painful to me. I would like to be around 140, or more as I'm turning my fat into muscle. but I'm working on applying this to my life. it's a slow and steady process, and eating 100 calories and burning 2000, will indeed kill me.
The diet books say, if you have 2,000 calories, then that’s 0.25kg. So you would lose 2kg a week, and 7.7kg a mouth. Also add water weight to it, and that drop in water makes a difference on the scale. I lost 17kg in 3 weeks drinking tea, and it worked, but then without noticing, I put back on every kg I lost within 6 weeks. I was so pissed off. All that work and determination not to eat, and now I’m back to where I am. This is why it’s better to go slow.

Keep in mind losing weight differs heavily for each individual, the best way to lose weight is thru trial and error while using science as a vague guideline. What works for you may not for others.

U can never be that exact to know u are cutting 10 calories a day. I count my calories. Even if u are eating prepackaged processed bad food everyday every meal, u burn different amount of calories every day and absorb them differently. 10 calories to be that exact is b/s, if it was that easy everyone would be fit, u can burn 10 calories by doing 1 minute of jumping jacks before u sleep, good luck. I am burning 1000 calories a day cardio and lifting heavy 3 days a week to keep my strength and lose fat and it's still moving very slow, a 4 month cut. These nerds have theroy and books but no real actual proof, like many of them believe they came from nothing dead matter, they make fake pictures and statues of people evolving from monkeys and the people follow them?
Overweight folks probably have no idea how many calories they are eating.....ever. Not even a ballpark figure. I eat about 2,000 calories a day....four 400 calorie meals a day and about another 400 in snacks. I weight 127 lbs, so a 1,270 calorie a day diet would put me in a caloric deficit, while a 2,540 calorie a day diet would put me in a surplus. I run 2 miles every Thursday wearing a 20 lbs vest, and I run 5-10 miles every Sunday. I strength train every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Consistent cardio, consistent strength training, and consistent diet.
I went through a journey with weight loss. I was obese at 5’2, 168 lbs. I started with cutting calories, which led to small portion sizes. I lost weight, but hit a plateau. So I gradually started cutting out processed foods, junk food, and I made myself cook everything. This made me resume my weight loss. Slowly, I started adding fresher, healthier ingredients, more fruits and veggies while maintaining those smaller portion sizes. I lost weight even more. I exercise now only to relieve stress, not to lose weight, but in the beginning I did work out like crazy to help speed up the weight loss process. I eat a mostly a fresh vegetarian diet (no fake meats… just fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains) and eat meat once a month or so. I figured it wasn’t worth the cholesterol and plus meat is super hard to digest.

Even though the animation is cute and funny, I don't like the advice. I know weight loss isn't a straight linear line. When you're lighter you will also need less calories. But I don't like how he says "3500 calories = 1 lb is bad". And then he tells us to eat 10 calories less a day, as if anyone can measure that properly! What a dumb piece of advice. The 3500 cal = 1lb rule still works. It's an approximation, and weight loss (might) slow down as you get more fit, but it's a far better guideline than saying "eat 10 less calories a day" which means to eat one less spoonful of yogurt, rice and cereal a day? What kind of stupid advice is that?
You guys are missing the point, but i dont blame ya. It wasnt delivered very well. if you eat 10 cals a day less, you will weigh one pound less, for the rest of your life. if you eat 100 cals a day less, you will weigh 10 lbs less for the rest of your life. But its impractical advice, because no one wants to wait 3 years to reach their goal weight. He's really just talking about "maintenance" eating. Its more practical to eat at a large deficit to lose weight.

very informative, i like the leaky bucket example, really got through to me. i lost 20KG = 45lbs in about 4-5 months , and ever since then the process slowed down a bit, still losing but slowly, was a bit upset about that, this video helped me understand why it slowed down now and thats its not a bad thing, body needs its time to adapt, i gained that weight in 10 years, cant expect to shed it off in 6 months without serious health problems.
@@anuronguha0898 hey, I started at 145kg back in early 2015, my best weight since has been 102kg, but currently I'm allowing myself to stay between 104-106kg because it's the best weight for me where I can keep some strength, eat stuff I want to eat, but also look acceptable and feel healthy I lost the first 20kg using Intermittent fasting and exercising The 2nd 20kg I needed to learn how to measure food and count calories, I don't have to train every single day now, I can take a day off here and then by decreasing the amount I eat in that day a little bit Counting calories is difficult at first but after a few months of doing it, it becomes almost instinctual, you can look at something and know approximately how much it weighs and how many calories are in it
@@anuronguha0898 also I use an application called "fat secret", it's the best calorie counter I've tried because if you input your region, and search for certain foods, it knows some of the food brands that are in your region and can tell you how much calories are in them. I also use a food scale to measure my food by weight, when I'm outside I learned to measure the weight of the food by the size of the portion (it's easy after a few months of doing it don't worry)... This is by far the best way to eat certain foods like pizza and chocolate while also losing weight because you adjust your portions properly
I've lost about 30 lbs over the past year. Most of it due to rigorous exercise, (3-4 mille runs 2 or 3 times a week plus 2 days of weight lifting) but I also watched a lot of what I ate during the weekday. This somewhat offsets for my unhealthy weekend lifestyle (i drink a lot and eat out a lot on weekends). My suggestion is incorporating the healthy lifestyle as part of your weekly routine (school or work) This way it almost seems like a natural thing you do and not a chore.

They explained it soo well, I watched this video long ago and let me tell you guys i have a fair share of ups and downs in losing Weight and what I have done in the past is I joined gym lost weight, did not maintain and gained back all of the weight again. It's soo frustrating that every Time I have to start again and do everything all over again, it's a stress. But you can not run away from it. You can not do it In sprints. You have to run the marathon that too a very very long one.

What helped me was simply not keeping unhealthy food nearby. If it’s harder to access, such as me having to go to the shop to get it, chances are I’ll decide it’s not worth it and just leave it. Also, if I do decide to have a sugary snack, I will have to walk to get it which helps.

I'm still 15 but I'd wanna be more confident and wear what I want to. Last August 2021, I started my weight loss journey. Though it was quite slow; for me that is. But I've managed to lose few pounds (wil be losing more ❤) and it made me more confident. I was 50 kg back then (yeah ik y'all be hatin me for trying to lose weight when I'm just 50kgs) but I wanna lose weight because I'm slowly gaining weight coz of quarantine. And my belly is too big, trust me, you'd mistake me for a prego😕. And this morning, November 11 2021, I'm finally down to 46.7 kgs!!💖💖 Not too big for 3 months but I'll take it than leave it. If you'd wanna know what I did, I ate less what I usually do. I still eat rice, but I made it lesser. Probably 1/3 of how much I normally eat. I still eat oreos lol but I'd only eat one each day. I only did 7 minutes flat belly workout for the first 2 weeks cuz I gave up, I'm too lazy and bit busy with schoolworks😅. I started counting calories on September 1st , but I quit after half of the month. I just ate less for the rest of the weeks till now. However, I started doing random exercises (I did a zumba last day, cardio workout yesterday, will be mopping the floor today lol) last day :))) I'll update after a month if I'd get a notif on this comment
Hey! Ur only 15, I was worrying abt that when I was 15 to but honestly girl rlly u look amazing! It's good to want to lose weight but please don't judge urself for it. U are beautiful as you are and I wish I didn't care so much in highschool, don't let it define who u hangout with or who u admire, ur body is beautiful in all stages. Also if it helps drinking lots of water helps. And having little snacks of what we like or give urself a whole day to binge and then avoid that for 4 days. It's basically keto and that diet is rlly helpful. But above all that rlly don't let it become ur life.. :( cuz I did and do and it's horrible :( our weight isn't everything relationships and our enjoying life is, and we forget that when we worry so much abt stupid weight

Stop drinking sodas, drink lots of water, eat at least 3 scrambled eggs in the morning with something healthy to fill your stomach, do cardio once every 2 weeks if you hate running, eat less in the evening in order for the calories to not be too high for your body to burn when you go sleep. Oh and of course eat shit ton of protein after workout.
What I took away from this was basically as you lose weight your metabolic rate will decrease so you either have to lower your calorie intake or exercise longer or both. Just try to keep track of your bmr throughout the process.

Here's a shorter version sorry: The body has to be in the state of ketosis to loose weight. When the body is in the state of ketosis it can not store fat it can only shed fat and other toxic weight. You have to eat 0-5 g of carbs per day and no caffeine for about 3- 4 days to get the body into the state of ketosis. Continue to eat 0-5 grams of carbs per day for week 1. This is like rehab to me. All I can think about is food. While I'm eating, I'm already thinking about my next meal. *WHILE I'm EATING* and it's been like this for years. I always break my diet, always. I try to go slowly with baby steps but the baby steps are more like fetus steps because I do like 1/8th of the bare minimum. I'm fat and tired of feeling *fat*igued (lmao) all the time but I'm always shoving dishes to my mouth. I'll be full to the brim and still be eating, even if I don't want to eat but I eat through the discomfort of a full belly. It's vile. I hate doing it but I love doing it. If you're overweight, then I suggest starting with a keto diet first. Basically fatty meat with veges, as much as you want to get your body habituated to burning fat as a fuel source. If you want to lose excess weight (fat), then you have to train your metabolism to get used to burning fat. No sugar, no bread, no noodles, no carbs AT ALL. I’d try eating white bread. Like wonder bread (if you’re in the USA). Lots of cals and not very filling. Spread some butter on it too. Fats are your friends! Olive oil and peanut butter. 1 tablespoon is about 120cals. Add a little here and there throughout the day and you’ll see a difference. Good luck 😊

Not 3600 one day, then 3100 the next day, then 3400 the day after that, but every single day 3500cal exactly! Ive lost 25 lbs in 2 months from cutting out a lot of junk food, eating more fruit and sticking to eating a certain number of calories a day. Plus I do some aerobic exercise 2 times a week for 4 hours total. I loosen up on the weekend and have a few cheat meals but I don't go crazy. Seems to be working. I was 270lbs 2 months ago now Im 244lbs. Like they say its a long term commitment but if you are just consistent it works.

as someone who suffered from an eating disorder for about three years of my life, this is extremely helpful. I went from 115lbs to 168 in two years and it has been very painful to me. I would like to be around 140, or more as I'm turning my fat into muscle. but I'm working on applying this to my life. it's a slow and steady process, and eating 100 calories and burning 2000, will indeed kill me.

The diet books say, if you have 2,000 calories, then that’s 0.25kg. So you would lose 2kg a week, and 7.7kg a mouth. Also add water weight to it, and that drop in water makes a difference on the scale.
I lost 17kg in 3 weeks drinking tea, and it worked, but then without noticing, I put back on every kg I lost within 6 weeks. I was so pissed off. All that work and determination not to eat, and now I’m back to where I am.
This is why it’s better to go slow.

The body has to be in the state of ketosis to loose weight. When the body is in the state of ketosis it can not store fat it can only shed fat and other toxic weight. You have to eat 0-5 g of carbs per day and no caffeine for about 3- 4 days to get the body into the state of ketosis. Continue to eat 0-5 grams of carbs per day for week 1. After week 1 you can gradually add more carbs to your daily intake but don't exceed 40 - 50 grams of carbs per day through out your weight loss journey. Some people restrict caffeine even after the first week because caffeine spikes insulin so it slows weight loss. Buy a bottle of Keto Sticks , they are urine test strips. They tell you whether or not you're ketosing and how heavily you're ketosing. Don't urinate on it too long just wet it and examine it , that's all that's nessesary, and so you don't wash off the color dye. If there is pink/purple color on your tested strip it means you're ketosing. The darker the color means the heavier you're ketosing meaning the faster you're loosing weight. If no color appears on your tested strip it means you're not ketosing meaning you're not loosing weight. If and when you have a cheat day you may stop ketosing because of over consumption of carbs so all you have to do after a cheat day is start the diet over again by eating 0-5 g of carbs for a few days to get your body ketosing again. Even if u are eating prepackaged processed bad food everyday every meal, u burn different amount of calories every day and absorb them differently. 10 calories to be that exact is b/s, if it was that easy everyone would be fit, u can burn 10 calories by doing 1 minute of jumping jacks before u sleep, good luck. I am burning 1000 calories a day cardio and lifting heavy 3 days a week to keep my strength and lose fat and it's still moving very slow, a 4 month cut. These nerds have theroy and books but no real actual proof, like many of them believe they came from nothing dead matter, they make fake pictures and statues of people evolving from monkeys and the people follow them?
Overweight folks probably have no idea how many calories they are eating.....ever. Not even a ballpark figure. I eat about 2,000 calories a day....four 400 calorie meals a day and about another 400 in snacks. I weight 127 lbs, so a 1,270 calorie a day diet would put me in a caloric deficit, while a 2,540 calorie a day diet would put me in a surplus. I run 2 miles every Thursday wearing a 20 lbs vest, and I run 5-10 miles every Sunday. I strength train every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Consistent cardio, consistent strength training, and consistent diet.

I went through a journey with weight loss.
I was obese at 5’2, 168 lbs. I started with cutting calories, which led to small portion sizes. I lost weight, but hit a plateau.
So I gradually started cutting out processed foods, junk food, and I made myself cook everything. This made me resume my weight loss. Slowly, I started adding fresher, healthier ingredients, more fruits and veggies while maintaining those smaller portion sizes. I lost weight even more. I exercise now only to relieve stress, not to lose weight, but in the beginning I did work out like crazy to help speed up the weight loss process.
I eat a mostly a fresh vegetarian diet (no fake meats… just fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains) and eat meat once a month or so. I figured it wasn’t worth the cholesterol and plus meat is super hard to digest.

I know weight loss isn't a straight linear line. When you're lighter you will also need less calories. But I don't like how he says "3500 calories = 1 lb is bad". And then he tells us to eat 10 calories less a day, as if anyone can measure that properly!
What a dumb piece of advice. The 3500 cal = 1lb rule still works. It's an approximation, and weight loss (might) slow down as you get more fit, but it's a far better guideline than saying "eat 10 less calories a day" which means to eat one less spoonful of yogurt, rice and cereal a day? It wasnt delivered very well. if you eat 10 cals a day less, you will weigh one pound less, for the rest of your life. if you eat 100 cals a day less, you will weigh 10 lbs less for the rest of your life. But its impractical advice, because no one wants to wait 3 years to reach their goal weight. He's really just talking about "maintenance" eating. Its more practical to eat at a large deficit to lose weight.

i lost 20KG = 45lbs in about 4-5 months , and ever since then the process slowed down a bit, still losing but slowly, was a bit upset about that, this video helped me understand why it slowed down now and thats its not a bad thing, body needs its time to adapt, i gained that weight in 10 years, cant expect to shed it off in 6 months without serious health problems.

The 2nd 20kg I needed to learn how to measure food and count calories, I don't have to train every single day now, I can take a day off here and then by decreasing the amount I eat in that day a little bit
Counting calories is difficult at first but after a few months of doing it, it becomes almost instinctual, you can look at something and know approximately how much it weighs and how many calories are in it
@@anuronguha0898 also I use an application called "fat secret", it's the best calorie counter I've tried because if you input your region, and search for certain foods, it knows some of the food brands that are in your region and can tell you how much calories are in them.
I also use a food scale to measure my food by weight, when I'm outside I learned to measure the weight of the food by the size of the portion (it's easy after a few months of doing it don't worry)... This is by far the best way to eat certain foods like pizza and chocolate while also losing weight because you adjust your portions properly

I've lost about 30 lbs over the past year. Most of it due to rigorous exercise, (3-4 mille runs 2 or 3 times a week plus 2 days of weight lifting) but I also watched a lot of what I ate during the weekday. This somewhat offsets for my unhealthy weekend lifestyle (i drink a lot and eat out a lot on weekends). My suggestion is incorporating the healthy lifestyle as part of your weekly routine (school or work) This way it almost seems like a natural thing you do and not a chore.

It's soo frustrating that every Time I have to start again and do everything all over again, it's a stress. But you can not run away from it. You can not do it In sprints. You have to run the marathon that too a very very long one.

What helped me was simply not keeping unhealthy food nearby. If it’s harder to access, such as me having to go to the shop to get it, chances are I’ll decide it’s not worth it and just leave it. Also, if I do decide to have a sugary snack, I will have to walk to get it which helps.

I'm still 15 but I'd wanna be more confident and wear what I want to. Last August 2021, I started my weight loss journey. Though it was quite slow; for me that is. But I've managed to lose few pounds (wil be losing more ❤) and it made me more confident. I started counting calories on September 1st , but I quit after half of the month. I just ate less for the rest of the weeks till now. Also if it helps drinking lots of water helps. And having little snacks of what we like or give urself a whole day to binge and then avoid that for 4 days. Stop drinking sodas, drink lots of water, eat at least 3 scrambled eggs in the morning with something healthy to fill your stomach, do cardio once every 2 weeks if you hate running, eat less in the evening in order for the calories to not be too high for your body to burn when you go sleep. Oh and of course eat shit ton of protein after workout.
What I took away from this was basically as you lose weight your metabolic rate will decrease so you either have to lower your calorie intake or exercise longer or both. Just try to keep track of your bmr throughout the process.
I've lost 25 lbs the last 5 weeks from simply eating less and walking 5-10 miles per day. Started at 280 lbs, now down to 255lbs. I've had a eating problem for several years now. I would binge eat constantly and sometimes gain up to 10 lbs in a week. If I can do it, anybody can.

Here's a shorter version sorry: The body has to be in the state of ketosis to loose weight. When the body is in the state of ketosis it can not store fat it can only shed fat and other toxic weight. You have to eat 0-5 g of carbs per day and no caffeine for about 3- 4 days to get the body into the state of ketosis. Continue to eat 0-5 grams of carbs per day for week 1. After week 1 you can gradually add more carbs to your daily intake but don't exceed 40 - 50 grams of carbs per day through out your weight loss journey. This is like rehab to me. All I can think about is food. While I'm eating, I'm already thinking about my next meal. *WHILE I'm EATING* and it's been like this for years. I always break my diet, always. I try to go slowly with baby steps but the baby steps are more like fetus steps because I do like 1/8th of the bare minimum. I'm fat and tired of feeling *fat*igued (lmao) all the time but I'm always shoving dishes to my mouth. I'll be full to the brim and still be eating, even if I don't want to eat but I eat through the discomfort of a full belly. It's vile. I hate doing it but I love doing it. I wish I could make better decisions. I'll be like this forever, no will power, no discipline, no consistency 😓
If you're overweight, then I suggest starting with a keto diet first. Basically fatty meat with veges, as much as you want to get your body habituated to burning fat as a fuel source. If you want to lose excess weight (fat), then you have to train your metabolism to get used to burning fat. No sugar, no bread, no noodles, no carbs AT ALL. Carbs have an interesting metabolic effect since if it's not used soon, then it get stored as fat.
Make sure you're eating enough salt, potassium and magnesium in the diet: critical. All available as supplements. After 2 weeks on the keto diet, you'll notice that your appetite has diminished and your cravings for random food goes down to zero. Next step is intermittent fasting - so have your last meal at 6 pm. Don't eat until the next day @ 10 am.
Keep on doing this for a week, then have your first meal at 12 noon (so 18 hours with no food). Just a regular keto meal, enough to make you feel full. 1 week (or 2 weeks) later, have your first meal @ 2 pm. Only eat at 6 if you're hungry.

here are few tips for weight loss (from my experience)-dont starve yourself cause then you end up eating a lot later ,and reduce junk food,
exerscise daily and walk as much as you walking a lot really helps in weight loss, and drink a lot of water

Eat calorie dense foods like ice cream, nuts, and chips, they won't fill you up.
I’d try eating white bread. Like wonder bread (if you’re in the USA). Lots of cals and not very filling. Spread some butter on it too. Fats are your friends! Olive oil and peanut butter. 1 tablespoon is about 120cals. Add a little here and there throughout the day and you’ll see a difference. Good luck 😊

Why all those body experts think that calorie intake is constant number daily? It would mean that somebody eats, let's say, 3500 cals daily. Every single day. Not 3600 one day, then 3100 the next day, then 3400 the day after that, but every single day 3500cal exactly! So, cutting off 10cals a day from 3500cals would be a very simple math and a very simple method . But who eats like that!? That's a complete nonsense

Remove most processed carbs from your house (breads, cookies, crackers and sugars), snack on PICKLES, mixed nuts (only a handful, not the bag), CELERY, Lunchmeats w/o breads to curve hunger. Lookup TDEE calculator. I've been cutting 400 calories out of my estimated daily burn, and within a week I've lost 5lbs. I haven't been working out, and I've been drinking the same amount of water. It's not water weight. If you're female they recommend eating at least 1200 calories, and if you're a male at least 1500 calories a day.
