I remembered when this commercial came out (back when we watched TV). I was like 17 and this was the coolest ad in the world. At that time, it was so controversial because Juliette Lewis was braless. Looking at it now, 22 years later-this is one of the most wholesome commercials! It brings back warm feelings of the carefree and fun times of the early 2000s. Miss those days!
I was a kid in the 2000’s and I personally get a 00’s feel off it. The clothing style is very 2000’s and electronic pop was popular in the late 90’s and early 00’s. The GAP was also a booming and happening place to shop in the 00’s. You could never miss a gap commercial on tv. Also the 4:3 aspect ratio coming from CRT TV’s that people were still using. 4:3 was the standard format.

For what it's worth, you can quite easily tell it's not professional dancers, because they way they dance is clearly amateurish. The biggest give away is you can see Thomas slouching quite visibly during the last part of the dance, and guy-mans little dance behind juliette looks so adorably dorky. This is not a criticism. I love this ad because of how dorky they look. But if you were going to get professional dancers, you would be doing so to make it much tighter looking.
When I used to watch this back in senior year of high school it seemed so random to see 2 robots in this commercial. That was before knowing who Daft Punk was and how big they would become.
Imagine posting this in 2005 leaving youtube for 16 years and then coming back to a completely different website and millions have seen your upload of a gap ad
