BookTube is a dangerous place 😂 it makes you read books you didn’t know you wanted to read. Three fabulous choices there from some amazing booktubers 😊
I had Lonesome Dove down for June on the Range this year but couldn’t get into it, I’m planning to revisit it in 2025, as I think I wasn’t ready for it.
Hi Alan. I, too, am going to read Anubis Gates based on Michael's and Grammaticus' recommendations. I love both of their channels. You will not be disappointed with Steinbeck's East of Eden. It's a phenomenal novel. James is a powerhouse of a novel. It didn't win the Booker, but it did just win the National Book Award, and I think it will be in the running for the Pulitzer too. It's a novel I know I will re-read. I read it with my book club this year, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Thanks for the mention here. I hope you have happy holidays, and I'm wishing you all good things in the new year.
Hi Pat, I’m not sure how I’ve not read East of Eden before, having read other Steinbeck books but I’m looking forward to it. I hope you had a great Christmas and best New Year wishes to you too
@@AlansReads thanks, Alan. Well, you will read it now, and I know you'll enjoy it. I think I like Grapes of Wrath better, but East of Eden is a close second. I did have a lovely Christmas, and the celebration is continuing into today, which is wonderful. I hope you're having a joyful holiday season too.
Being a Huck Finn fanboy I was looking forward to James. However I found it slow and a bit boring. I understand and appreciate what the writer was trying to do but, to me, the vehicle he used wasn't that effective. I stopped reading about 3/4 of the way through.

Indeed. My bank balance is the poorer for watching booktube but my mind is the richer 😉
Been sometime since I read East of Eden.
I would say one book I’m looking forward to is Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy it, I'll include my thoughts in a video once I've read it.
