Sometimes a breakout character needs to remain among her other actors in the series.....it's tough when you go it alone.....it's not the same. Flo was a strong, unique, funny character but I feel her solo series didn't hold up well. Others who went solo & did not succeed were Sally Struthers "Gloria" from All In The Family, "Checking Out" with Marla Gibbs (She returned toThe Jeffersons), "One In A Million" with Shirley Hemphill (What's Happening). More successful were: Bea Arthur - "Maude" from All In the Family Esther Rolle - "Good Times" - from Maude Charlotte Rae - "Facts Of Life" spun off from Different Strokes Valerie Harper - "Rhoda" from Mary Tyler Moore Robin Williams - "Mork & MIndy" spun off from Happy Days These shows did well due to the new supporting characters/situations being interesting
I meant that Shirley’s success on WH prompted her to receive a spin -off. She wasn’t the waitress character, but she was well received enough to warrant her own show.
Flo's Yellow Rose was created by CBS because Linda Lavin, who had become so Jealous over Polly Holidays very funny Flo, began making problems on the set. Seeing how popular she was and how Funny Holiday was in the role, a new show was created for her. ....
Linda Lavin was jealous over Polly Holliday's character flo, getting more attention on the show Alice, than her own, so then a spin-off of Flo aired in 1980. It was probably all a set-up to get Mrs. Holliday off the show for good, never for her to return to Alice. Hollywood can be a very nasty business. Holliday's portrayal of Flo, was outstanding & unlike the movie 'Alice doesn't live here anymore' in the series we see Flo's Character development over time, blossom, more than in a 2 hr. movie can show, even though Diane Ladd did the first original & great interpretation as Flo. Most who looked at the tv series will be familiar with Mrs. Holliday's performance as Flo. Flo"s character to Alice, was an earnest scene stealer, like Urkel to family Matters or The Fonz on Happy Days, etc., who knew? It's good to compare the movie of Alice to the t.v. series. If you don't agree, then you can 'Kiss my Grittts!!!' 🎬😂
IT'S A REAL SHAME THAT THIS ONLY LASTED A SEASON AND A HALF! I WAS AROUND 6 WHEN SAID SHOW WAS ON, AND QUITE INCREDULOUS, EVEN BACK THEN THAT THE SHOW WAS CANCELLED SO SOON!
Thats what happens when they remove it from Monday after MASH up to the lead-in timeslot against Little House, the #10 show on TV; then kept moving it around to air against The Love Boat, Eight Is Enough, and Laverne & Shirley. Viewers couldn't find it and the show dropped to #50 for 1980-81
About 7 or 8 months ago they would show the full episodes of Flo's place on UA-cam now they're only giving you these little snippets and you can't find the full episodes of Flo's place on any network because they want you to buy them
So many spinoffs aren’t successful, as Flo wasn’t. Alice was definitely better with Flo on it, not sure if it was CBS’ or Polly’s idea for the spinoff.
Rumors were that Linda Lavin (Alice)was jealous of Polly's character Flo stealing all the laughs and thunder and went to the producers. They came up with this show for Polly to get her off Alice. When it was cancelled, they asked her back and she said No.
I used to love to watch Alice I love flow she is so funny see it that red hair she said mail kiss my grits we I did not want her to leave the show she moved cowtown Texas I didn't want her to move it was so sad when. She. Let. The. Sow I didn't watch it too much when she left I didn't like Bell replace flow I didn't like Jolene either the only two. Was on there was Alice and and Vera you wasn't the same without flow I did watch it that much
Maybe the reason the show did not catch on is due to the lack of character in the bar itself. It's just too messy and disheveled. The set is also a very important character in any show and the set designers here messed up.

This is better than what's on tv now.
Please posts the rest of the episode, its got me hooked!

How about The Jeffersons from All In The Family? It outlasted the parent show, which later morphed into Archie Bunker's Place.
Shut the fuck up. It would've been more pop. than Alice.
"I FEEL her solo series didn't hold up well" Amazing analysis, Sherlock.
Shirley, one in a million was not the same character as in What's Happening
I meant that Shirley’s success on WH prompted her to receive a spin -off. She wasn’t the waitress character, but she was well received enough to warrant her own show.
I love flo
Well I just ordered the whole series on dvd off of eBay I am so excited
yea, it was a cute, well produced show-
I have this series as well. It was great and should have been on TV for more seasons!
Flo's Yellow Rose was created by CBS because Linda Lavin, who had become so Jealous over Polly Holidays very funny Flo, began making problems on the set. Seeing how popular she was and how Funny Holiday was in the role, a new show was created for her. ....
“Excuse me, Flo?!” (Jim Carrey Voice 🤣)
Kiss my grits!
🤣
It wasn't the same when flo left the show Alice. She was the co star of the show.
Rumor has it that Linda Lavin felt the Flo character was stealing the spotlight on 'Alice', hence her departure..?
yes I heard that and I believe it in my opinion allice character wasn't funny at all Mel, Vera, and Flo carried that show

When. She Left. Alice it wasn't the same without flow I wanted her to stay on Alice I didn't watch Alice that much without flow
Alice was funnier when Flo was on there.
Kiss my grits
FLO. LEARN HOW TO SPELL.

Maybe it was auto correct that put the W on the end. It wasn't serious enough to point it out. We knew what the person meant.
I heard that Polly Holiday left because Linda Lavin and her weren't getting along.
It was a mistake for Linda Lavin to drive the character named Flo off of Alice. Alice seemed to go downhill once she departed.
Exactly
Considering the crap that's on tv today this is still better.
"Kiss my grits!"
"That's not funny, Earl!"
Yeah, Flo you can say that again.
I didn't realize "Goober Pyle" was a co-star of this series....or a guest star, whichever he was.....
Gomer
@@JamesOnstott --No "Gomer Pyle" was Jim Nabors. This is George Lindsay "Goober" I believe.

I never knew she had a spin-off show!!

I didn’t last long.
Polly became a director.
I grew up in the 70s and 80s and loved watching Alice but I don't remember this show.
love her on here
Where's the rest of the videos? Only 3 minutes, not the complete series.
man, guess ya gotta go order it,LOL :)
2:02 omg that dude looks funny kinda young. I’ve only seen him when he’s older 🤣🤣
Thanks for the upload..I have NEVER scene this before ever ..xd
I love Alice flow Vera those three was a team I used to love them to gang up on meal
Very few spin-offs are as successful as Fraser.
I don't remember this at all but watches slice every Sunday growing uo
Where are the full episodes of Flo these are only 3 minutes where is season 1 episode 1 full episodes

Did Flo ever said kiss my grits on her own show?
Yes she did. I just watched a few episodes.
Excuse me, Flo! 😂😂😂

@Sita Baichoo egos ruin EVERYTHING
Blame Linda Lavin's jealousy.
That bartender is Julie later....also played onbithrt on Every Which Way You Can in Every Which Way but Loose
She had her own series
Awesome
Linda Lavin & Polly holliday should've both been in 9JKL Which btw was a great sitcom.
I loved it too. I was going to point out Polly Holliday died, but I see she's still alive
The character "Flo" last her spontaneity after she lifted the show "Alice".
maybe toned it down-
Spettacolare Flo🤩
Both her and George Lindsay are from the state of Alabama.. Jasper..North of Birmingham.
Does anyone know why she left Alice ?
Rumors were that Linda Lavin (Alice)was jealous of Polly's character Flo stealing all the laughs and thunder and went to the producers. They came up with this show for Polly to get her off Alice. When it was cancelled, they asked her back and she said No.
So.....how is this three minute video "the complete series"? Shouldn't the title honestly reflect the content of the video?
$1000? That’s a nights in take.
Sandy Cheeks, the squirrel on SpongeBob makes me think of Flo.
Buona estate Floriana
judy judy judy
classic Andy episode :p

Woman playing Jolene wasn't bad; certainly couldn't replace Flo
This is not the complete series or full episodes
KISS MY GRITS!!!
Linda Lavin , ALICE did not want her FLO Back.
if so, Lavin shouldn't have had so much control over that show-she could have been replaced-
Jim Carey brought me here!

Excuse me flo
Anyone else here because of Dumb & Dumber?
Wow! I didn't know she had a spin off

Who would ever want to watch a sitcom about menstruation? No wonder it failed!
Worst supporting cast in television history!!!
Pure trash-TV, hahahaha.

No, she's great. They just didn't build the story well enough. To sell it well she needed someone as strong as she was!
