- Apple has been late to the game with ai, but they also have a unique opportunity to showcase what they have been working on with their AI capabilities and introduce a next level version of iOS 18 that could lead to the next big thing.

The point of the having gaps thing is so that you can keep your apps on the bottom 2/3rds so you can reach them all
It’s not about leaving spaces on the Home Screen, but not having icons automatically stacked on the upper part of the screen, where they’re the least reachable. It never made sense to me, that is so counterintuitive
3:38 i personally like this because I have really small small hands, I can use bigger phones easier because I can put my most used apps closer to the bottom where my hands naturally are. Right now I have to fill the top space with folders or widgets in order for my apps to be where I want them.

3:50 it's a big deal. Being able keep apps on the bottom of the screen makes them easier to reach with one hand. Also, when you have less apps on a single screen it's easier to find what you're looking for. When I had an iPhone I used to fill in the top half of the screen with widgets just so I could keep apps closer to the bottom of the screen.

Thing with Apple is that they let all the other companies do the R&D when the technology is at its most expensive. Only then once the first few generations of this early-adopters tech comes through and it becomes affordable enough to produce do they throw their hat in the ring.

Apple have never been first movers lol. They weren’t the first mp3 player, operating system, personal computer, smartphone, and now AI.
Nice video. Updating Siri will be good because Siri has so many issues. For example, Siri listens to iPhone users way to much. Every time I tried to use Siri, conversation with other people or solo it would act goofy especially in conversations with others because it take over the conversation even if it was in another room. I had to turn Siri off because it became a problem.
All reviews are giving a lot of info on the 16 iphone..... what about the watch. Do we just forget about any real updates?
They never managed to make Siri useful so I have little confidence that they are going to knock it out of the park with AI.
its not a bad thing that apple is late to the AI game, Let everyone else impliment it 1st, then improve on it. Im an Android user, might switch to Iphone in the future.....

3:58 iOS is by far the least user friendly interface when it comes to one handed use specifically. I’ve used iPhones and Samsung devices on and off for years and EVERY… SINGLE… TIME… I go back to an iPhone it irritates the hell out of me that I can’t put the apps closer to the bottom of the screen, put them wherever the hell I want, and how locked the Home Screen is. Also, it drives me insane that I have to swipe from the very very tip top of the screen to get my quick settings and notification panel. Android?… just swipe down. From any point on the screen. And it brings down both your notifications and quick setting panel. Much easier to use with one hand when phones nowadays are 6 inches plus

What you mentioned could be a good niche for Apple if they focus on bringing AI down to local devices. As you said it would be more private for the user and Apple needs something to help sell Apple silicon. I've been saying since the M1 chip Apple is hitting the point of diminishing returns on CPU speed for the average user. Even Apple fanboy websites are starting to say it that unless you are actually doing production level work in audio or video any M-series chip will be fine. Well if Apple brings AI down to the local device then the need for more processing power in the local device will be needed. Apple said early on it Apple silicon was about AI processing for automobiles and similar AI driven devices all those need local processing power. So Apple delaying their intro into AI could be because they want more to do it from the hardware side than the software.
ChatGPT-like Siri that runs completely on-device would be nuts

I really hope Apple do start to big up their game as they aren't really inspiring me just now. Been an avid apple fan since the iPhone 4. It's all boring now. I think the AI integration with iOS will be a game changer if Apple can pull it off. Usually when they do something they do it better than the competition. Great video. Thanks Greg.

Haha the ad for this video was for tax software. I was thinking "Wait, why would you two buddies need to file taxes together? Ohh..because you guys like your pork barrel sausage" haha. As someone who's used an android phone before, and also someone who has a desktop computer. The reason you want the freedom to move your apps around where you want on the homescreen is so you don't ruin your favorite wallpaper.
For example, if I have a family portrait as my wallpaper. I'll have apps on the top of the phone, and then on the bottom. But not in the upper middle where people's face's are. Why would I want to cover up faces?
Yeah, maybe if someone uses the boring bullshit default wallpaper's Apple provides, but it's nice to move things around so you can see what you want to see.

To tell you the truth, I'm really not interested in AI, I don't care about photo editing, use photoshop and it's AI already, boring, I don't need to see another picture of a fish riding a bike, I don't care, so I hope Apple really do surprise us and come up with something truly useful instead of following the crowd into AI land and all the boring generic stuff that follows, I don't need someone taking out of my photos. Nothing and I mean nothing AI has offered so far is the slightest bit interesting to me. It's the emperors new clothes.
Siri needs to be fixed! It needs to answer our questions verbally without directing us to a web site. Totally effing useless! This business of "this is what i found on the web" is total b.s.! I can look on the web myself, i do not need siri!

AI begins with the software. Apple iOS fails in intelligence. Example, when updating, some days 20-30 updates. Yes we can click, priorities download, but why ? why do my most used apps get automatically prioritised last, and sit in the dark waiting to be updated ? That's a simple fix with smarter programming!!

Expectations for iOS18 are unrealistically high. If we look at history, Apple iOS has not delivered anything very new for many years. They have tweaked and polished iOS - and that's fair enough. The iPhone works just fine. There has been no need to change the telephone due to new functions for many years. This means that consumers save money.
