Good evening Hikiko. I'm Brand Newman, the translator of the Earth Seeker, Takt of Magic and Zangeki No Reginleiv games, which you have mentioned in your video. I wanted to thank you for featuring my work, and congratulate you on that fantastic video about one of my favorite systems ever! I didn't see the time fly, and you even gave me some ideas of game to pick and (who knows?) possible future projects! 🙂 So thank you again for that top notch video, I'm looking forward to see the rest and am subscribing as I write! One of the best video of its kind on youtube. I've seen those same exact games being recommended countless times in tops, but always with extremely shallow explanations, often failing at presenting the intrinsic qualities of the games. Thanks
I honestly feel like this should have more views. I've always felt like the Wii was an underappreciated console and this video is proof that it's filled with a lot of cool and interesting games. Great work!
Dude, this is one of the coolest videos ever. I’m just under halfway through, but omg… the format is so nice and this is bringing me back to the rainy days I was excited by nothing more than biking to the video rental store in the early morning and spending the whole day exploring the new, strange and inventive wii titles. It was a hit or miss experience, but the library was so expansive we were never disappointed. Even bad games were insanely funny. Gosh, to be young again.
This video is legit. Might be the best Wii youtube video yet and i'm not even half way through it. Here's why i like it, you gave respect to the Wii as I believe it deserves, you are reviewing games that are good and bad (super unique) I love that concept, and third point, this is 2.5 hrs! I'm a huge fan of the Wii especially since i can play so many different systems on it. And i must say, I really appreciate Wii controls and yes not every game utilizes them perfectly but the ones that do, make up for it. Wii Sports Bowling is like one of my fav games ever lol But yes I agree with you Wii U's are superior and I have 4 of them, but they are more difficult to find and 3x's as expensive. But the ability to upscale Wii games is impressive. I like Skyward Sword, Spectrobes, Sonic Colors, Sin and Punishment, Sid Maiers Pirates, Secret Files Tunguska, Prince of Persia Rival Swords, Okami, Mad World, Ghostbusters, Geometry Wars, Fragile Dreams, Radiant Dawn, Dragon Lair Trilogy, Dead Space Extraction etc. Tons more
fantastic video, used this to beef up the list of games I'm going to procure. great listening while working on drawing, too (I promise I looked up and watched)
I've always been a huge proponent of the Wii. I got all the "hidden gems" before anyone ever said they were. Yes there is a buttload of shovelware, but for the 10-20% of the library, they're REALLY solid games. Thank you for putting praise on Little King's Story, it's probably my favorite game on the console outside of Mario Galaxy 1 & 2. The entire video is a great retrospective and highlights what is capable with homebrew.
The Wii is the smartest console to be collecting for right now. With so many common shovel ware games, it makes it much easier to find one of the many (at least 100 games) quality titles for a low price. Also we are just a few years away from Wii owning kids entering their mid-20s and that's usually when a console library starts to make it's first jump in price. Get in while the getting is good.
At a thrift store, they sold me a gamecube disc case for $15 dollars. In said case was LOTR 3rd age, return of the king, medal of honor rising sun, namco museum, X-men Legends, Pikmin, Luigi's Mansion, all scratchless. When they showed me, I was trying not to have my eyeballs explode or have anyone else witness it, so I was like, "ok yeah, that seems fine."
I play my Wii almost every day, but it's basically just my Smash Bros setup now. The Melee scene has added a lot of tools to it, such as UnclePunch for training and SmashScope for diagnosing controller issues. Also the modded version of Brawl is still played competitively and it's a lot of fun!
Your videos are legit fantastic, and are leagues ahead of most if not all these retro channels. I watched all this last night and I'm now watching it all over again at work. I watched your new ps3 video too and it is singlehandedly the best ps3 video. Have a great day and I hope you make more of these for both old and newer systems.
"When you're a successful console, with over 1600 games on the platform, you're going to have some stinkers on there" THANK YOU! Just for that your getting a like on the video.
Amazing video, and an even more amazing opportunity to repon the wound of never getting the third Another Code game. It's dope that you're shining a spotlight on the Wii's criminally overlooked library.
This is my favorite type of content that you make. It's so chill and cozy. I really appreciate how long you've been dedicated to this channel, and I hope you keep making videos for a very long time. You’re an inspiration to all your viewers With the Nintendo Wii it’s my favorite console in a social sense. I love playing the Wii with friends and family. I might be a bit biased because I was a kid when the Wii came out (Yes I am an adult now), but combined with the Gamecubes Library, there’s just a ton of multiplayer games that’s hard for other consoles to rival in terms of quality and quantity in my opinion. The Wii has also always done a great job in preserving the legacy of the Gamecube, as it was many peoples first introduction to the Gamecube during its prime, and today it’s probably the cheapest and most convenient way to play Gamecube games on a hardware level in my opinion. Modded Wii U is definitely god tier as well
hated Cursed Mountain on Wii, but after finding the delisted PC port, I completely fell in love with the game. Not only is it so much easier to play because of the lack of motion controls, but it's also a lot prettier and you notice how much the crushed compression of the wii hides the beautiful and very detailed environments. I plan on releasing it into the public domain later this year so it will soon be available for everyone, legally.
Cursed Mountain was the first Wii game I beat. Took me about 1/2 way through to figure out how it wanted me to use the motion controls but after that it worked well.
Where can you find the pc game? I can only find it on the Amazon US site and you have to live in the USA to purchase.. More importantly many reviews on there say it doesn't work on Windows 7/8/10/11...
Firstly, thank you for making this massive video! Your videos are an inspiration to my channel, I love your editing and how you approach each video with enthusiasm. Great selection of games, Madworld will never go out of style! 🥳
It's wild how a home videogames console that sold 100 million units worldwide is seen as "overlooked." But there are so many great software titles on Nintendo Wii that few gamers ever saw or played. But that's the great thing about retro gaming: there are thousands of classic games to play on so many consoles and home computers. More fun! Winning!
Wii is still my favorite Nintendo console no matter how many consoles Nintendo will make wii is still the best. wii is holding big special place in my heart thank you for this awesome video
RAD! I love seeing the Wii getting some love! Legit one of my favorite consoles. Thanks for this behemoth of a video, Miles! You've done your country a service.
Nicely detailed view of the Wii! I picked up a Wii at a yard sale late last year and bought MadWorld based on your retrospective video. Great game! It's such an underrated console with some unique exclusive games. And since most games aren't crazy expensive like other consoles right now, I'll be checking out a lot of the game you recommended. Thanks for shining a light on these interesting games!
I think both of the Conduit games deserve a mention, incredibly fun, online was super active for the sequel back in the day. Short campaigns sure, but they don't need to be long to be great. I love how FPS games play on the Wii.
4:15 just started watching a video and i must mention if you have homebrew channel installed the loss of Wiiconnect24 service is replaced by fanmade Riiconnect24 which makes all online features active again! You can still play Mariokart Wii online and other games and there are plenty of players still playing
never had a wii, but Ive always been tempted to buy one since they're super cheap now. Will see the video and maybe, who knows, you'll be the one who finally convinces me to pull the metaphorical trigger
The two good things about Dewy's Adventure are Dewy as a concept, and the drop-dead gorgeous illustrations from Akihito Tsukushi of Made in Abyss fame, who also did the illustrations for Elebits' cutscenes. Also, I got Disaster: Day of Crisis for my 14th birthday, and I have no regrets. Monolith Soft were climbing the steps to greatness.
Even though I’m not a fan of the Wii, I admit at least a handful of games in this video peaked my interest. Really goes to show how much you love this console if you’re willing to dedicate this much time in a video for it.
I just bought my first WII in 2023. I played Wii sports and a few other games back in the day but never really got to explore the system. Saving this video for reference :)
I'm a big Wii fan and this is easily the definitive Wii video. I thought that I had a pretty comprehensive library and you listed off some titles that I wasn't even aware of.
Dude this was such a good watch. I didn't have the best experience with the Wii due to the abundance of shovelware, but you've really opened my eyes to some gems that I'd like to try out. Looks like I'll be hooking my Wii for the first time in a decade because I NEED to play Bug Island. Like, now. 🕷🦂
Okay, this was a great video and i no longer feel like the only person telling people the Wii is actually rad for the last 15 years :P I'm a little puzzled why some games were included if, as you put them, some just weren't really worth checking out but i learned a few ones i had overlooked and also would totally suggest some others like The Kore Gang, Mushroom Men, Dokapon Kingdom and Lilt Line, to name a few. Regardless, this took a ton of work and you should be proud! The Wii is STILL the best all-in-one modding machine when it comes to functionality, ease of use, price and widely available hardware and i'm really happy you're talking about it. Definitely sharing this on social media, thanks again!
So far I've collected around 180 Wii games on disc and I also bought 200 downloads before the shop closed, all quality, not a single shovelware title in there. My favourites are Excite Truck, Bully: Scholarship Edition, The Godfather: Blackhand Edition, Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Manhunt 2, The Last Story, Final Fantasy: My Life as a King, Hydroventure, MotoHeroz, World of Goo, La-Mulana, the five Art Style games. And many more. After Let's Tap I really hoped you'd mention its WiiWare cousin Let's Catch, the most calming ball throwing game ever. In an idyllic park setting you throw and catch back and forth with different visitors that talk to you, and eventually you build up trust and friendship with them. I'm fond of having a 100% Excitebike: World Championship save file as well. When I heard they were going to shut down Wii's online, I went back to get the last unlockables. My Wii recommendation today is Overlord: Dark Legend, for everyone who has already beaten Pikmin 1 and 2 and Little King's Story.
I'm going to hook my wii back up soon. I added the homebrew channel years ago and have it filled with games, even turbo graphics cd and sega cd stuff. I need to try out some Playstation games on it too.
Thanks for making this. I had only heard of a handful of games on this list (mostly ones you've shown me in the past). I need to re-mod my Wii U and check some of these out. There are definitely some the kids would enjoy.
solution to problem 1: homebrew (specifically, priiloader i think?) solution to problem 2: homebrew (specifically riiconnect240 solution to problem 3: homebrew (specifically usb loader gx) solution to problem 4: changing up the games code solution to problem 5: just buy a 1st edition one, but if u want a new color, shell swap.
Fantastic video, encouraged me to download a few. One of my favorite underrated gems on the Wii was the Ghost Squad port. Extremely addicting rail shooter.
Great video, but missed some the personal favourites that changed my mind about this console in the day; Klonoa, Metroid Prime Trilogy & Donkey Kong Country Return, along with some interesting titles like Rodea & Okami
I'd also like to add "Rodea the Sky Soldier" as a gem! Wii game turned Wii U game, and released as both! I bought this thing Brand-New on eBay JUST to have the Wii disk. If you like Mario Galaxy, if you like NiGHTS into Dreams, you'll like Rodea
can't believe you missed underground titles like Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Wii Sports Resort... but seriously I added a bunch of new games to my Wii wishlist to keep an eye out for, and also going to setup the Wii U again to play some old favorites
UHM uh acktually there was footage of wii sports resort in the the Wii Motion plus segment. I would like my karma back now. (bug island better be on that list)
Amazing video! ...now I just need a video just like this about the vita (and all pskgj games worth playing) so I can die in peace and go to truegamer heaven.
Just watched this whole video. I’m excited to play Wario Shake It and Sin and Punishment Star Successor. So many amazing titles shown in this video. Thanks!
Before watching this, I was under the assumption that the Wii had a couple of super succesful gimmicky games, some Mario here and there and that's about it. Boy was I wrong, super interesting library, thinking really hard about getting this, as it can be bough for cheaper than a PS2. Super informative vid.
Lostmagic had a sequel?! I was among the few who played that when it launched guess I got something to check out. I note you didn't mention monster taming, a core aspect of the original which makes me think that aspect got axed. Shame, the rune drawing was a bit durdly on the DS but the monsters were good for giving you a smidgeon of breathing space.
Played Another Code R by your recomendation a few years ago. I think I even made a video where I recomend it myself amongst the other games. I loved this game, but for some reason I can't get into the first one on the DS. I just don't like how it looks and plays, I dunno.
Recently discovered your channel and I have been watching your console retrospectives and I am just blown away. You now sit in an elite category to me shared with My Life in Gaming and John Linneman of Digital Foundry for your attention to detail. I salute you for your dedication to the medium sir!
I’d maybe recommend dolphin for the motion control issues on some of these games. While calibrating motion controls on that is honestly confusing, it might give these games butchered by wii input more of a shot. Makes me wonder if dev kits had a more responsive form of the wii hardware.
Good thing I inherited a Wii U before it went offline! I love it so much to the point I constantly use the GamePad as a Remote Control. My intention was to always start The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower on it after beating… - Lost Odyssey on 360 (Xbox One & Series S BC ftw!) complete w/ Treasure Trove + DLC/Optional Bosses [250 hours] - Blue Dragon (Xbox One BC) w/ Maxed out Jobs + 1000 GS [292 hours] - Xenoblade Chronicles X completely (all Tyrants/Superbosses + 100% Quests/Achievements) before the servers go down [712 Hours; extra 72 hours to figure out how to beat that one Chimera superboss w/o a Skell] - NieR (360)/NieR Replicant Ver. 1.22… (Series X) + Automata (Series X) with 100% “Words” [something around 450 hours] …so now’s the time! Now I just have to debate spending a lot to get them legally or homebrew to play the ISOs (I think they’re ISOs?). What I’ve learned from grieving after my brother’s passing via playing RPGs and the like is that it’s less about having the time to play them but rather your ability to commit to them while making it a real goal comparable to something you’d be proud of IRL! It’s somewhat transformative and an excellent way to rekindle your appreciation of the medium imo. The Wii my folks bought is the featureless $100 model (red & black), so the only thing earned there were the Wii-Mote + Straps + Wii Motion+. I had no clue you could literally make the Motion Controls work on the GamePad, so you come in clutch as always Miles! Edit: We need more videos this long from you…and that Killer7 Suda (A-Side?) video too!
I didn't wear a wrist strap during the production of this video
I’m calling the cops
What a mad man.
RIP in pepperoni🍕
I hope you didn't break any tv
Damn right! Wrist straps are for cowards!

4:15 just started watching a video and i must mention if you have homebrew channel installed the loss of Wiiconnect24 service is replaced by fanmade Riiconnect24 which makes all online features active again! You can still play Mariokart Wii online and other games and there are plenty of players still playing
Literally trying to buy one of these this month! Lets goooo! New Hikikoooo!
Wait… wtf it’s 2 hours? 😭 I’m not finishing this in one sitting lol
Shocked that you didn’t include MKWii with how popular that is nowadays, but then again… maybe that’s the point! Brilliant work Miles! Great vid!
That's why I love this video. It doesn't show the games that already have been covered a zillion times.
My boy, let’s goooooo!
…on Tuesday when I’m off work, haha. Just finished a five hour stream, gonna shout you out fo sho.
never had a wii, but Ive always been tempted to buy one since they're super cheap now. Will see the video and maybe, who knows, you'll be the one who finally convinces me to pull the metaphorical trigger
I really enjoyed this long form video content. Thank you for the effort!
Calling Pandora's tower Ico meets castlevania feels nostalgic, I said that too when I played it 3 years ago and told a friend the same thing lol
Any games that support Classic or Gamecube controller support are generally the easiest to get into if you dislike the waggle
True. Unfortunately Nintendo waited too long to give a lot of potentially good games the option though.
Amazing video! Really well put together and a blast to watch. Plus, added a bunch of games to my ever growing backlog (lol). Thank you sir!
Two hours well spent watching this gem of a video!
1:56:56 Septette for the Dead Princess. Nice.
I just bought my first WII in 2023. I played Wii sports and a few other games back in the day but never really got to explore the system. Saving this video for reference :)
1:10:40 I played the Sequel/Remake/? of this on the PSVita. My favorite game on that console, I really want to play it again, but I think I lost it...
Like, now. 🕷🦂
Bug Island Bug Tip: Do the bug caves and unlock the mantis claw weapon
Great video, gave me alot of insight on the wii. Guess it's not all shovelware
Wow so many recommendations! Thanks for the hard work.
Okay, this was a great video and i no longer feel like the only person telling people the Wii is actually rad for the last 15 years :P
I'm a little puzzled why some games were included if, as you put them, some just weren't really worth checking out but i learned a few ones i had overlooked and also would totally suggest some others like The Kore Gang, Mushroom Men, Dokapon Kingdom and Lilt Line, to name a few.
Regardless, this took a ton of work and you should be proud!
The Wii is STILL the best all-in-one modding machine when it comes to functionality, ease of use, price and widely available hardware and i'm really happy you're talking about it.
Definitely sharing this on social media, thanks again!
I try to add games that might not be for me into the mix. Thanks for sharing it!
You're making movies now... Hikkiko: how I learned to love the wii. Sorry I've been drinking. Anyways great video!
What an amazing video. So many gems to p̶l̶a̶y̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶W̶i̶i̶ emulate.
And thanks for allowing us to take a leak midway through.
protecc them kidneys
It's really amazing I just got the Wii u transfer tool it Rocks.
I still own my wii and love it! Great video!
awesome video, very in depth and content dense, learned a lot.
I modded my Wii just to play Disaster, Fatal Frame 4, and Another Code R.
I love your videos, keep it up!
The Wii and Wii U are definitely awesome consoles.
Thanks, awesome video!
Got a Wii U now :-)
Unfortunately that awesome stand is no longer available...
My Wii has been modded since 2009 lol still play it too.
I'm really hoping Muramasa Rebrith gets a new port to Switch so more people can check it out, I'm really excited for the Grim Grimoire remaster
42:58 that noise the bugs make when you hit them is kinda heartbreaking
I'm going to hook my wii back up soon. I added the homebrew channel years ago and have it filled with games, even turbo graphics cd and sega cd stuff. I need to try out some Playstation games on it too.
Thanks for making this. I had only heard of a handful of games on this list (mostly ones you've shown me in the past). I need to re-mod my Wii U and check some of these out. There are definitely some the kids would enjoy.
solution to problem 1: homebrew (specifically, priiloader i think?)
solution to problem 2: homebrew (specifically riiconnect240
solution to problem 3: homebrew (specifically usb loader gx)
solution to problem 4: changing up the games code
solution to problem 5: just buy a 1st edition one, but if u want a new color, shell swap.
Some of my best gaming memories were on wii in my 31 years of life.
Just home brewed my wii and I am hyped to see all these recommendations great in depth video
Fantastic video, encouraged me to download a few.
One of my favorite underrated gems on the Wii was the Ghost Squad port. Extremely addicting rail shooter.
didnt even know a sequel to trace memory existed I read nintendo power front to back as a kid
Great video, but missed some the personal favourites that changed my mind about this console in the day; Klonoa, Metroid Prime Trilogy & Donkey Kong Country Return, along with some interesting titles like Rodea & Okami
I tried to hit things mostly left on the platform. A lot of what you listed have modern ports.
I loved Alone in the Dark (on 360, anyway)
Fantastic video.
Hikikomedia would probably ring better, but i dig what you're doing. good mixture of info, comedy, and demonstrations.
I could truncate it, but sunk cost fallacy at this point.
Recently discovered your channel and I have been watching your console retrospectives and I am just blown away. You now sit in an elite category to me shared with My Life in Gaming and John Linneman of Digital Foundry for your attention to detail. I salute you for your dedication to the medium sir!
love those dudes. I'm no where near their quality, but appreciate the compliment
no day 1 patches, free online (while it lasted), easy to mod and homebrew, no selling half the game as DLC
nintendo wii>>>9th gen consoles
K but what's with the Kingdom Heart's heartless doing in the corner walking on that gear in the Marble Saga game?
that's an Ant
41:46 This video has energised me more than the toilet in Eledees
I’d maybe recommend dolphin for the motion control issues on some of these games. While calibrating motion controls on that is honestly confusing, it might give these games butchered by wii input more of a shot. Makes me wonder if dev kits had a more responsive form of the wii hardware.
Well now I want a Wii...
u should def get one, they're super cheap
Play Endless Ocean 1/2, supremely comfy games. The best part is taking in game photos, I'm a sucker for games like that.
Best gaming channel. On my second watch. Making this flu or whatever I got somewhat bearable.
One "hidden gem" game I feel like no one really talks about is Fishing Resort. Such an enjoyable relaxing game.
Hard to find in the US. I'd love to add it to my collection
Excellent video
I believe the stand was made by pdp, at least here in the states.
24:26 - Metroid Prime Trilogy came in steelbook
I love Wii and WiiU! Both amazing consoles! ❤
Good thing I inherited a Wii U before it went offline! I love it so much to the point I constantly use the GamePad as a Remote Control. My intention was to always start The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower on it after beating…
- Lost Odyssey on 360 (Xbox One & Series S BC ftw!) complete w/ Treasure Trove + DLC/Optional Bosses [250 hours]
- Blue Dragon (Xbox One BC) w/ Maxed out Jobs + 1000 GS [292 hours]
- Xenoblade Chronicles X completely (all Tyrants/Superbosses + 100% Quests/Achievements) before the servers go down [712 Hours; extra 72 hours to figure out how to beat that one Chimera superboss w/o a Skell]
- NieR (360)/NieR Replicant Ver. 1.22… (Series X) + Automata (Series X) with 100% “Words” [something around 450 hours]
…so now’s the time!
