I just bought 3 of these for $60USD total‼️ 20 bucks each. It's one of the best knife designs ever created, and CS does a good job on their 3V heat treatment.
you make very good points regarding the handle on the master hunter. You clearly understand knives well. The geometry is very good and much better than the Fallkniven, but I wish they had made it with a hard plastic underneath with a rubber overmold. I would have loved for it to have the hard plastic on the finger guard and pommel, that way you could put it to hard use without fearing to tear up the soft rubber. The finger guard is already tearing up from sliding the knife in and out of the sheath, so imagine scraping that portion against wood while batoning. Also, I have seen some cold steel rubber handles just comming off from the tang. They should reengineers their handles to something similar to the Hultafors OK4 knife, that is one of the most comfortable hadles I have used. I may still purchase the knife and do my own burlap micarta handle on it (similar to what I have done to a number of my knives), that should make a beautiful hard use bushcrafter. How do you feel aboutt he durability of the handle? Cheers!
@wismods thanks for watching and for the kind words. As far as the handle durability so far I've been very happy with it. I definitely agree the finger guard could possibly be a point of failure at some. Although so far for me I haven't had any issues. But I also am not using the knife day in and day out. It could eventually fail.
You got a knockoff there bud. Not a real cold steel. Just learning about all this myself. Lots of videos on UA-cam on telling how to spot a knockoff. Even if you pay high prices people are getting fakes even from places like Amazon!
Coldsteel has some of the most comfortable handles. I took a file to the spine of my MH CPM-3V(now it looks like shit but works phenomenally), incidentally my MH VG1 comes with a fairly sharp spine from the factory. I also ordered a second one from ebay last month. It was selfor $89 OBO. So I offered $55, and they sold it immediately. Got it a month later for $58 w/tax. Only after the sale I find out the seller's in Singapore. My alarm starts ringing. A month later today, it arrives and the mailing label says its from Hong Effn China Kong! Now I am certain I got shit on. I opened the package to pull out the coldsteel box, there's a white label on it says its made in CHINA!!!! The label also has more Chinese distribution centers in china and other stupid chinese districts of manufacturing and source materials. I am pissed! I opened the box and unlike my 25 other coldsteels from the MH to M Tanto to my 2 Trail Master 3V, the knife was sheathedand together wrapped in bubble wrap and the knife actually in cellophane and placed in the sheath. What other signs this was a counterfeit; it was stone washed but had machine marks on each side by the gaurd, the fake kray-ex has micro sandy texture and there is a manufacturing line on the top of the handle going around and down back towards the front to the gaurds as if molded from two halves and joined. The lettering was almost perfect except for the "s" and the "r" were thinner in a different script almost. The edge was fair decent except at the last 2/3 cm where I can run my finger with pressure without any worries. On both my san mai and 3V master hunter, you would hit bone if you were dumb enough to try that. Yeah, I got screwed. I tried to contact Ebay but you have to initiate Ebay's return system for 3 days before they allow you to call them. So I started the return with loads of pictures and a scathing complaint. After an hour rechecked my complaints and apparently someone saw it. They said I should receive a refund in 2 to 3 days and don't bother sending the Chinese crap back to them! Yup, so be careful boys!
Yeah that sucks man! Ebay can be super sketchy buying certain products knives being 1. I buy from reputable dealers and wait for sales. But so far I'm super happy with the cold steel fixed blades. Still loving my 3v
@shane4176, yeah man, I read all the Chinese sellers reviews and there's a bunch of knuckleheads raving about how great their Master Hunter is from this seller not realizing that they got hosed with cheap Chinese counterfeit and there's no telling what cheap metal their fake MH CPM-3V is made of! I only knew because I have 2 Master Hunters in my hand and one is the stone washed 3V. I will write a review after I get my refund, hopefully they will see it.
The spine is barely passable! I took a file to my MH 3V. Now it is comparable to my Trail Master. Looks like crap but a joy to scrap fatwood, cedar bark, and birch bark!
the last thing you want as a hunter is ultra sharp 90 degree spine on your knife where you put your finger to process game. If you're not a hunter, don't tell us what we need boy!

Definitely not a knockoff I bought this from Midway USA. Check them out they are 100% not selling knockoff knives.
Man this is a great review definitely are not shy to use a knife .
Thank you I appreciate that! Thanks for watching and commenting

Yeah who cares what it looks like as long as it does what you need it to. Thanks for watching!
Right on! Right on!
They still could’ve factory squared the spine, hunters will also build a fire 🔥
They are actually squared. The problem is the stone washing process makes them too smooth for striking.
