I don't understand why a cable company hasn't signed you up for a travel series. These episodes are as entertaining and professional as anything on cable/TV.
I had to pause the video to say, I’m also someone who has spent a lot of time comparing myself to others. Keep running your own race man, because you’re winning everyday. And happy birthday! Thank you for the awesome and inspiring content.
This is seriously SERIOUSLY underrated. I lived in Canada for 7 years and work at a leading travel industry business in China now, and Im confident to say that Destination Canada does no where near a good job promoting Canada as a stunning destination if compared to your works.
Happy belated 35th Birthday, Michael. I'm really enjoying this Travels by Train series! Your videos remind me of the series that Rick Steves had created and has televised for many years. The Points of Interest along with the filming of your series is phenomenal! Keep up the excellent work and remember to keep your work fun!
This is where I grew up, I moved to bc later, but there's still a special place for it in my heart. (also happy birthday ik it's not anymore but still)
Hi , I live i Australia but have been to Canada 3 times but the only thing I don't like about Canada is leaving it. Its one of the most beautiful countries I have ever been to and I have done a lot of traveling. My younger brother lived in Saskatchewan in Saskatoon for of 20 years until he was killed in a work accident 3 years ago. I have been to both sides of Canada and love both of them. I went to Niagara Falls in 1986 and that was unbelievable. The Rockies are just the same. I love this show and think how lucky he is to go traveling all over Canada by train and would love to do that next time I come back there. The Rocky Mountaineer is one of my next trips.
Happy birthday. You are definitely unique and individual. Don’t worry about the other ones having a family, mortgage and follow the “norm”. Be yourself and enjoy every minute!
This series is a true treasure. What an expansive educational adventure. Loved getting to hear some of your personal struggles and feelings. This province is gorgeous, and those dogs melted my heart!!!!
"There is nothing I like more than a road trip to somewhere I've never been before." Amazing words spoken by someone who loves to travel. I envy you and thank you at the same time for sharing your fun adventure. The puppies were adorable. So remote at the Big Eddy Lodge. I could see how a night or two there would be very connecting to nature. Sometimes we are so busy with life, that we need these times to really relax and chill.
Hey Mike, I've only started watching you recently but I've followed you through Canada and just want to say your videos are top quality, the editing and filming is all really amazing! I also liked what you said about your birthday I can relate to not knowing what you wanna do or where you wanna be. Thanks for making these videos...
The first time I traveled into Canada was back in April of 1999. I had to cross at Portal, ND. After cleaning the US side, I was told to go park on the Canadian side and wait for the customs office to open at 8am. I said it’s past 8am. They said Saskatchewan doesn’t do Daylight Savings, so I would have to wait until 8am there time 😂
One of my best friends lives in Saskatchewan and every time I visit the province, it just keeps impressing me with its natural beauty. Happy Birthday, Mike!
7:26 "there is nothing I like more than a road trip to somewhere I've never been before." same here exactly 🎯👍 and we're glad and grateful that you chose the scenic way Mike, so happy belated 30th birthday too, it's a well-deserved celebration 🏅👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed Saskatchewan. You're right that it's underrated. I love it here. I hope you had a chance to look at the night sky while you were up north. Looking at the sky with no light pollution is almost a life changing thing
I agree, I remember watching the northern lights driving from Edmonton to Saskatoon the whole way, you can NEVER. Get sick of watching those lights if that's what you meant.
I didn't know ANYTHING about Saskatchewan (disclaimer: I'm not from Canada but I've travelled quite a lot) and wow am I speechless. This looks beautiful and peaceful and with such friendly people. Thank you Mike for sharing your travels the way you do. Best travel content creator there is, by a mile.
HAPPY 35th BIRTHDAY, MIKE! I'd say you made the right decision 5 years ago to go in the direction you have with your life - its enviable and how many people can make that claim!
I don't know why but this is my favourite, hence why it's been watched again and again, even several weeks later. Pleased that you enjoyed your virtual 35th birthday here.
The skies celebrates with you, Mike. Life is a highway and you're living that life. Happy Birthday from the Philippines! Cheers for 35th, cheers for more virtual travel with you!
I’m feeling blessed by watching your posts across Canada , I’m learning so much and especially love how indigenous culture is respected .... I will say I’ve been impressed more than once , you give me such hope for the future 😊respects for the positive outlook every time
This has been my favourite episode of this series, just wow! And Mike, it's the beautiful human that resides within you that's worth celebrating every day, not just once a year. xx
Watching the canoe and sun on the water, in terms of PEACEFUL, is one of the best shots you ever had in a video, and what's best, is that ANY of us can have this on an open body of water close to our homes. Shoutout from Kentucky, one of the states in the US most blessed with beautiful wild greenspaces and INCREDIBLE diversity of environment, from the old OLD Great Smoky Mountains in the east to the bald cypress swamps of western Kentucky.
i love how there are so many things to do and histories in a city, especially when it is an unknown place. thank you for bringing us along with you in this adventure!
Calvin and Suzie are the best guard dogs you could ever want. They're Marremas I believe, bred for protecting livestock from Wolves and other predators. No other dog is as good. Ithink that property is as safe as anywhere.
Saskatchewan is definitely underrated. We love the scenery, little cafes in the small towns and last mountain lake near Craven. Such a beautiful province. Also explored the TRex discovery center. Saskatchewan holds a lot of history. Great video capturing its beauty!
That was a very mellow episode. Loved the dogs. Happy Birthday (though I can't figure if it was timed to coincide with the first broadcast on Check TV or its premiere here on UA-cam),
Happy 35th birthday Mike. We love watching and hope to visit some of the places you’ve shared with us. If you’re ever in the California foothills let us know we’d love to show you our world. We don’t where we’ll be next week, but we hope to be there with you.
First if that was a 'virtual' birthday; it must mean your 35th birthday is right around this date or it was when this video first hit TV. So, anyway; HAPPY 35TH BIRTHDAY, Mike! And, many more! Wow, I think this was the best video in the series so far. Big Eddy Lodge was spectacular. To truly hear silence is incredibly special. In our modern world, you cannot find complete silence like that. How special to experience that. The dogs with the pups were a special treat; they were the sweetest dogs. And, then, the puppies; OMG! Really great video, Mike.
I have enjoyed all of the episodes, but this was the best. What a beautiful landscape. I really appreciate that you showcase the indigenous cultures of each province.
Everyone's life moves at their own pace. And yes, making your own path as a zig zag is just fine! ❤️👍👍 The quiet at camp reminds me of the UP in Michigan. Gorgeous. Peaceful. I could listen to Solomon's stories for DAYS.
Awesome trip! Great to be welcomed by such an interesting distillery! The trip to the delta and your time there looked fantastic! The scenery, the quiet the canoe trip and the dogs and puppies, all a memorable time! Thank you for letting me tag along!
463K subscribers. I would say you are very successful. I love what you do. You don't see the Joy you bring to us, but believe me we love you for taken us on the great adventures. As a Parent I saw how proud your Father and Mother are of you. Keep up the adventure. God Speed and God Bless
1. Happy Birthday Mike, and many more! 2. Ottawa's original football team was called the Ottawa Rough Riders (2 words). When they were playing Saskatchewan, the standing joke was: "The Roughriders are gonna win tonight". They later became the Renegades, and are now the Redblacks 3. About it getting dark early, at 14:35: Saskatchewan stays on Central Standard Time year-round. Depending on when you were there, the time would have been the same as in either Alberta or Manitoba. 4. Thanks for the great episode on Saskatchewan. While most people believe it’s only flat here, you saw the prairies, valleys and the Northern Boreal forest and lakes. One look on a map and you’ll see that the “North” is the majority of Saskatchewan. You never even got half way up the province which is hard to believe. Most of us live in the bottom 1/3 of the province. You can come back anytime and explore every nook and cranny. Summertime is best here!
This is like North Dakota. Which is really South Saskatchewan. Flat as a table. And the roads are just as straight. Happy Birthday young man. I will be turning 64 on October 6.
@Downielive as a Canadian I love this series. As a Canadian why do we all forget about the territories. Would love to see a similar style vlog of you exploring the territories as well.
I know I'm a little late watching this but I want to say thank you for highlighting my home province! I grew up and still live in Saskatoon and I think it's a wonderful place with wonderful people and things to see. I'm glad you had a good time and I hope you come back soon!
You made the right choice 5 years ago, Happy Birthday, you area an amazing content creator, you make me want to go places I never knew existed, your love of life shines through. The best is yet to come
6:46 I'm proud of you my brother that you've choose what you always wanted to do and love. Love this travel by train series and also Happy Birthday Mike!
What a fantastic way to celebrate a birthday. I hope you keep celebrating life every day. Looking forward to the next installment. Thanks for all your hard work and the joy you put in everything you do.
Hi there Mike! I'm a relatively new subscriber and I'm so happy to have found your channel. Your outlook/philosophy on life, the way you narrate and present your outings, and your general sunny attitude is so infectious. Not only do I learn so much from your videos, I also get a great dose of happiness that truly lifts up my spirits from each and every viewing. Thank you so much and a BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YA! Yes! You should celebrate it to the fullest!!
Thanks for sharing your birthday week with us! I'm certainly glad you decided to start this channel. And this posted on my birthday, so it was quite a nice present!
Happy 🎂 Today is also my Mom's. Opened my eyes to another part of Canada I'm looking forward to explore. You can live in Canada a lifetime and never see it all. Your vlog helps open possibilities. Thanks
Happy 35th to you! I have to agree, Sask gets dunked on a lot by Canadians but the two times I've been there folks were friendly as anything. Still remember going for beers with out ATC guy after flying 12 hours from Vancouver out there and arriving right as the airport closed. Can't wait to see what you think of Alberta, and what looked like Banff! :D
Happy Birthday Mike! These videos across Canada have been so exciting and informative to watch. I live in America but would love to visit any of these Provinces some day. Thanks for showing me around!
I haven't celebrated my last couple birthdays for the same exact reason you mentioned. Here's to working towards a life a life that makes you want to celebrate every year.
Happy Birthday mate! As I said in a previous comment, Saskatchewan was the first place I visited outside of my homeland Australia. 5 different flights and over 36 hours of travel to arrive in Saskatoon. A long way to go for what some people might consider one of Canada’s least exciting places, maybe? But for me, I experienced being in the Fall (we don’t really have fall where I live. It’s just dry and hot most of the year). So, being amongst the beautiful Fall colours was a real treat. Then, one night I saw the Aurora Borealis and two days later I saw snow for the first time in my life! It dumped enough snow that I could make my first snowman! We saw Bison, ate bison burgers, drank Kokanee beers, and scored free tickets to a Billy Talent concert. All this within a few days of arriving in Saskatoon. Was there nothing this little town couldn’t deliver! Plus the people! So friendly and warm. I credit my time in Saskatoon with triggering the travel bug. I’ve been to over 40 countries since then. So, for many reasons, Saskatoon will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks for another awesome video.
Happy birthday to you Mike! I can't wait to see the last 2 videos of this series and what you have planned in the future. BTW the dogs were so precious!
One of the best part of visiting a whiskey distillery is the smell in the aging warehouse (the angels' share). But I'm sure aging whiskey outside adds it's own character to it.
Mike, I've been through Saskatchewan, and stated in Saskatoon one night, and the trip was wonderful, but I had no idea of what the sunrises and sunsets were like. It is a beautiful province and you, my friend must have had the best 35th birthday possible. Well done. I'll be waiting for the Alberta episode next week.
Happy birthday Mike and thank you for these wonderful videos I look forward for The new episode every week. Wonderful job! Your warmth and friendliness makes it fun to watch.
Happy Birthday again Mike - I don't know if you turned 35 as this first aired on TV, or here on YT a few days ago - but I hope your calendar birthday's been good to you too. Saskatchewan looks beautiful with its endless skies and space to relax in - before you two travelled through I don't think I'd even heard of it, so this is a very valued episode.
It's Tuesday and I'm so far behind the eight ball with tasks that have to be done, it ain't funny. However, this episode to outback Saskatchewan has lifted my spirit completely and I'll keep pluggin' along. At almost double your age, I still enjoy going to places off the normal grid in my own Country and even within my own State of Victoria and my own city of Melbourne there are places to retreat and take stock of the beauty around me. You are blessed to have been able to change direction at 30 and celebrate in the manner you are doing now at 35. You have made so many people happy with your posts and sharing the beauty around you AND WITHIN YOU. Keep forging ahead Mike and hope to greet you soon when you can get downunder. Cheers from your namesake in Australia.
I notice by your itinerary used by the CNR's Transcontinental train. The CPR's Canadian went through Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, Regina Calgary and Banff. It also took in the Spiral Tunnel that today, as you tell us, is traversed by the Rocky Mountaineer. The journey through Northern Ontario skirts the beautiful shores of Lake Superior instead of the empty backwoods.
Still your realest video so far. Talking about your 30th birthday and why you chose not to celebrate it is very relatable to me, but I guess we just have to celebrate our wins, no matter how little or inconsequential we think they are. Cheers mate
Just in time ... Let's see ... 23:44 min. long? OK, I have 30 min. until my train is going ... so let's see this part of my favorite Weekend Video Series! Let's have a great adventure! EDIT> Happy Birthday Mike! :D
I don't understand why a cable company hasn't signed you up for a travel series. These episodes are as entertaining and professional as anything on cable/TV.
Also OMG Calvin stole the show! That is the friendliest doggo I've seen in quite some time!
I had to pause the video to say, I’m also someone who has spent a lot of time comparing myself to others. Keep running your own race man, because you’re winning everyday. And happy birthday! Thank you for the awesome and inspiring content.
This is seriously SERIOUSLY underrated.

Such a great episode again! Calvin was defo the cutie and star of the show well, until Suzie and the pups made an appearance lol! x
This is where I grew up, I moved to bc later, but there's still a special place for it in my heart. (also happy birthday ik it's not anymore but still)
Hey Mike, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you had a fantastic day. I look forward to your content every week. Cheers.
Watching the sun rise and petting a big, beautiful dog is close to perfection.
This was by far the most unsuspectingly beautiful episode of this series. Thank you for allowing me to indirectly experience remote Saskatchewan
Hi , I live i Australia but have been to Canada 3 times but the only thing I don't like about Canada is leaving it. I was raised in Regina, but seeing the Northern experience you had brought tears to my eyes. Thank you!!
This series is a true treasure. What an expansive educational adventure. Loved getting to hear some of your personal struggles and feelings. This province is gorgeous, and those dogs melted my heart!!!!
Those doggos absolutely stole my heart...
Keep doing your thing, you’re just were you need to be! Thank you for being the way you are with people.

13:07 Better outside? Wait when the riders made it to the semifinals against the bombers coz it would be -15C outside snowing
Calvin is simply adorable 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I've gotta go there just to meet Calvin!!!! And his mate Susie!!!
There’s nothing like inaugurating a trip with a fun trip to the distillery.
One of my best friends lives in Saskatchewan and every time I visit the province, it just keeps impressing me with its natural beauty. Happy Birthday, Mike!
Happy birthday Mike, the Big Eddy lodge is such a beautiful place, I’m so happy to be experiencing it with you and Will and the dogs :3
Happy birthday brotha 🥳🥳🎂
What I appreciate most about your channel is that you capture the sunrises.
Great video!!! Also happy birthday 🥳

I could have watched an entire video of your and Calvin's friendship blossoming
Adorable Calvin and Suzie. That had to be a bittersweet farewell.
Enjoying your Canadian travels by train, happy Saskatchewan birthday!
Mike this and the Mountaineer video with your dad are my two favorite. Beautifully shot and bursting with a love of life. Thank you
I’m feeling blessed by watching your posts across Canada , I’m learning so much and especially love how indigenous culture is respected ....
I will say I’ve been impressed more than once , you give me such hope for the future 😊respects for the positive outlook every time
This has been my favourite episode of this series, just wow! And Mike, it's the beautiful human that resides within you that's worth celebrating every day, not just once a year. xx
Hey Downie! Cheers man! Glad you got to hang with my coworker Noah in Moncton!!
Legend! Noah's great!

Omg, the cuteness of Calvin and Susie’s puppies was overwhelming lol!!! My family and I thought they were so adorable. Love this video Mike.

What you said at 7:05 totally relatable. But I love love love seeing you persue your passion
That was a very mellow episode. Loved the dogs. Happy Birthday (though I can't figure if it was timed to coincide with the first broadcast on Check TV or its premiere here on UA-cam),
Technically somewhere in between, but less than a month ago...
Happy 35th birthday Mike. We love watching and hope to visit some of the places you’ve shared with us. If you’re ever in the California foothills let us know we’d love to show you our world.

Thank you so much 😀
I have enjoyed all of the episodes, but this was the best.

We once created a golf website and when we mapped Canada, we were fascinated by Saskatchewans climate.
Wow! Land of the living skies indeed! Happy Birthday Mike!
My favourite time of year in SK is July when the canola and flax fields are in bloom, amazing colours and skies surround you.
6:46 I'm proud of you my brother that you've choose what you always wanted to do and love. Love this travel by train series and also Happy Birthday Mike!

Thanks for another awesome video.
Happy birthday to you Mike! I can't wait to see the last 2 videos of this series and what you have planned in the future. BTW the dogs were so precious!

Happy birthday Mike and thank you for these wonderful videos I look forward for The new episode every week. Wonderful job! Your warmth and friendliness makes it fun to watch.
Buddy/Calvin x Mike is the Spiritual Sequel to ‘Turner and Hooch’ that we needed.
Happy birthday Mike!! Love your content and adventures. Thank you for sharing them!
Happy Birthday Michael.
You are such a great inspiration, I’m a fan of your channel and I can’t wait for the new episode.
Enjoy your special day !
Cheers mate
Another amazing video buddy! Your videos are the best thing to kick off a Saturday for me!
Glad to hear it!
Just in time ... Let's see ... 23:44 min. long? OK, I have 30 min. until my train is going ... so let's see this part of my favorite Weekend Video Series! Let's have a great adventure! EDIT> Happy Birthday Mike! :D
