Malaysian people are known for being laid back, relax, patient, humble, and don't expect anything, they just love to give. They especially love the opportunity to interact with foreigners who speak English, because it's the chance to practice their English, I was one of them when I was a kid, growing up in a rural area in Negeri Sembilan, I loved seeing "mat saleh" because I wanted to speak English. And not to mention their blond hair and blue eyes were mesmerizing, ha ha! And I ended up marrying one of the "mat salehs" and moved to US. Now I can't wait to ba back in KL to retire.
Dating love and relationship in Malaysia is more genuine as compare to cities like Pattaya, Phuket or Bangkok where many westerners got burned financially.😊

@@SlowTravelProTips here’s the deal almost 90 percent of the how to move to Malaysia is bullshit. I’m on MM2H from way back. End of the day you must have money and lots of it. What’s written and what’s realty is two different things. I bought a beautiful condo in KL cost about RM2 million. To answer your question I’ve been here 30 years and just renewed my visa . I’ve mentioned this before but UA-cam guys of course don’t listen to the reality of living in Malaysia. End of the day you need to show immigrations you are wealthy. First tip for you: Soon as you call yourself an “expat” when you’re in Asia, you’re starting on the wrong footing. If you really want to transform your life by being in Asia, a good place to start is your lexicon. It’s basic but it’s emblematic of real transformation from the inside. “Guest” is a good initial replacement for “expat”. If Asia has traction with you and you are resolved to making your life here, you transition to a local. If Asia’s not for you, then you were ever only a tourist. Straight-up, there’s no room for “expats” in Asia. Thanks.
Agree on the food - Malaysian food, though delicious, it needs to be eaten in moderation, too much deep fried and greasy lol. They need to add more salad in the menu.
Tropical rainforests have been called the "jewels of the Earth" and the "world's largest pharmacy", because over one quarter of natural medicines have been discovered there😅
Came here to see a 'budget' video. Question. What about traveling from Thailand to Malaysia and around that area to stay all year? most are 3 months at a time, correct?
Both countries have different categories (and lengths) of visas, depending on purpose of stay. Both countries also change them. Please consult the specific country specific Immigration department websites for most current information (as I had seen many videos and articles claiming one thing - only to discover in real life something entirely different).
I think not many locals living in KL visits places like the botanical garden and in this video, the Lake Titiwangsa Garden. It's the only lake in KL where you can see the reflection of KL skyline.
@@HolyKALim Haha. Back when the MM2H program was introduced, many foreigners retirees made Malaysia their 2nd home. But after the MM2H been revised few times, it seemed that the 'current' Malaysian government more interested in making the MM2H an investment program. 😀

Most digital nomads go to bali, thailand, vietnam and maybe philippines. Expats go to singapore and malaysia. There is a difference between digital nomads and expats. Expats work here and live here long term
You can't say that for certain as there is no official numbers anywhere. Even before the whole digital nomad started, there were already foreigners working and living in Thailand, Philippines and almost all Southeast Asia. There are also a lot of foreigners who marry and live in Thailand and The Philippines where they actually buying properties (with their spouses) and startting business for decades now. Such is why many celebrities (and beauty pageant contestants) from Thailand and The Philippines are of mixed background. They also have integrated into the local societies. I can't say the same about "the expats" in Malaysia.

There are lots of cultural differences between Malaysia and U.S. During my student's life in the U.S. wayback in 1980s. we were being discriminated in the campus as well as outside the campus. Americans thinks that Malaysia was backward country and under-rated our proficiency in English. That's my experience 40 years ago.

Why Malaysian in so friendly?, If in case you did not know. Its been taught to us from an early age in our culture even and our religion. Its even imbedded in one of our "The National Principles" Kesopanan dan Kesusilaan translate to " Good behaviour and morality" . This of course only local Malaysian which ever ethnicity would it be would know as they were broad up in Malaysia. If you ask a immigrant whether working legally or illegally they probably would not have known this.
Im from setiawan, many tourists would just go ipoh, taiping when exploring the state of Perak but setiawan has alot of good food as well its just too underrated
Malaysian food can be unhealthy to eat too much, a lot of deep-fried and coconut milk. I can eat nasi lemak, roti canai, pisang goreng every day, but I try to control myself, knowing it can take a toll on my health. Just remember to walk it off!
Thank you. While I'm more interested in living with - and like - the fine people of Malaysia, the currency conversion does make it an attractive option
Definitely an advantage to be born in a country with a much2 stronger currency. It makes moving to many2 other countries a lot cheaper. Anyway, you are right concerning dating. The wokeness and feminism in the US is scary. When it comes to that Malaysia is so much better for now. However, lately feminism has slowly creep into Malaysia and it's starting to get really annoying. I am just annoyed by the amount of "ladies only" coach, parking spots and they even have ladies only day at public swimming pools these days. My prediction is in the next 10-20 years radical feminism will start becoming popular in Malaysia if nothing changes. I am not sure if you are single or not, but if you are here for dating and looking for love. Better find one ASAP 😅

Also since there is a coach specially made for them. Why are they still entering the non-ladies coach? Go and use the empty ladies coach la. Why should women be bothered to use the uncomfortable coach that they complain so much? I actually don't mind if we go back to the days where men & women are separated. Since they are so hell bent on separating from men so much. Why not we go all out for it? Seperate coaches for men & women and lets not stop there. Lets make separate malls, separate swimming pools, separate restaurants and men & women should have different compartments in the office too. Women & men must only sit in a certain area and must not cross paths. Maybe then only we can eliminate all SA and SH cases like these radical feminists want so badly.
I can only imagine what that experience is like ....
Dating love and relationship in Malaysia is more genuine as compare to cities like Pattaya, Phuket or Bangkok where many westerners got burned financially.😊
In malaysia its so cheap and convenient to travel to other southeast asia countries like cambodia, thailand and many more. You should visit malacca too.
I loved Malacca ... I put a ton of time into trying to tell the story well in that video
@@SlowTravelProTips Cool , have you visit ipoh ? Could you do a vlog about the city/state you're from ?If not its ok.
Welcome to Malaysia!
Thank you!
Malaysia is not perfect, never will be.. but it is what it is… somewhere between Singapore and Thailand/Indonesia
Yes and agree
Hello. Watching your video. Question. What was your profession back in US? Thanks.
You're spot on value for money quality and affordabllity it's second to none in camparison to other SE countries they might be cheaper but overall Malaysia wins in most categories
I’ve been here 30 years originally from Seattle never looked back living the dream
I'm so happy to hear this! I think everyone wonders .... can the dream last?
@@SlowTravelProTips here’s the deal almost 90 percent of the how to move to Malaysia is bullshit. I’m on MM2H from way back. End of the day you must have money and lots of it. What’s written and what’s realty is two different things. I bought a beautiful condo in KL cost about RM2 million. To answer your question I’ve been here 30 years and just renewed my visa . I’ve mentioned this before but UA-cam guys of course don’t listen to the reality of living in Malaysia. End of the day you need to show immigrations you are wealthy. Any questions I’m the expert and by the way learning the language helps! I speak Malay
@@SlowTravelProTips 30 years man 👨 can it last up to you
Where is this place.. the background looks stunnin..
i 've lived my whole life 20mins away fr KL...yet i've never been there 🤔
This was filmed at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa
@@SlowTravelProTipsOhh that's the place where I got my Kayaking certification several years ago. Hope that they are still around!
Cost of living and crime rate creeping up in US, two main reasons to be in Malaysia. Hope Malaysia stays affordable for a while.
If in kl centre behind you, it will be over 5000 but near to where you are ib titiwangsa u can get 3rms condos at around 2500/mth
Welcome to Malaysia my friend 🫰🏻🎉
Thank you!
First tip for you:
Soon as you call yourself an “expat” when you’re in Asia, you’re starting on the wrong footing. Thanks.
keep malaysia underated and if you nature lover, you should try travel to borneo too.sabah and sarawak the right place.
love your video
So glad you enjoyed it
So long as they have the currency exchange advantage.
Nice video sharing
Thank you very much!
Malaysia truly Asia
Like to watch the background scene.
good one.. hope u enjoy 🇲🇾
Agree on the food - Malaysian food, though delicious, it needs to be eaten in moderation, too much deep fried and greasy lol. They need to add more salad in the menu.
Tropical rainforests have been called the "jewels of the Earth" and the "world's largest pharmacy", because over one quarter of natural medicines have been discovered there😅
Enjoy your stay
Thank you!
Came here to see a 'budget' video. Question. What about traveling from Thailand to Malaysia and around that area to stay all year? most are 3 months at a time, correct?
visa on entry to Malaysia is 90 days. u can continue another 90 in thailand, then another 90 days in Malayisa , then singapore then indonesia
Both countries have different categories (and lengths) of visas, depending on purpose of stay. Both countries also change them. Please consult the specific country specific Immigration department websites for most current information (as I had seen many videos and articles claiming one thing - only to discover in real life something entirely different).
Nicely explained
Thank you!
Nice background.
I think not many locals living in KL visits places like the botanical garden and in this video, the Lake Titiwangsa Garden. It's the only lake in KL where you can see the reflection of KL skyline.
Lake Titiwangsa.
Where is this location? So nice view.
It's the Lake Titiwangsa Garden in KL.
@@Yasin_Affandi Bring your retiring old friend, Joe Biden, to here as well... haha....
@@HolyKALim Haha. Back when the MM2H program was introduced, many foreigners retirees made Malaysia their 2nd home. But after the MM2H been revised few times, it seemed that the 'current' Malaysian government more interested in making the MM2H an investment program. 😀
Agree - Under 30 - garbage videos. I saw one video... "We didn't have any expectations of KL..." then 5 minutes later "KL exceeded all our expectations..."
have you visited my hometown kuching?
I have not ... yet. I think a few people now have recommended, so it's on the list for later
Nice video.. 👍♥
Thank you!
5:45 Im hunting for non Malaysians who like Malaysia not for tourist traps. There's a pattern: it's millennials mid 30s to mid 40s, who have reflected on what's important, and is daring enough to live in an "backward Islamic" country.
I've subscribed - tell me more about Malaysia.
The Petronas Towers in the background look like a rocket ready for liftoff
They are migrants. Not expats
@@lulc4694 Same difference.
What’s the difference? Let me tell you 😂. East people being called migrant, while west people, we called expart 😁. See the difference? 😏
”Many celebrities (beauty pageant contestants….. “ that’s a big stretch😂
How do you support your living here? Supposedly you have a business, job or whatever. Unless you're a millionaire.
have you visited Masjid Wilayah?
I've been around the outside, but I couldn't get in to see the inside
@@SlowTravelProTips oh yes you can. I'm a volunteer there and we take visitors around the masjid on a tour to explain architecture, history and Islam. Get the grab driver to send you to Anjung B (that's the entrance you want). hope to see you !

Yes!
I'm trying to tell a better story ....
I am Malaysian, lived in a college town in the US for many years. I once met a guy who retired from the university’s admission office. He has fond memories working with Malaysian students, he told me they love the Malaysian students, they have high English proficiency, don’t get in trouble and study hard. 😂
Yusof, move on. That was 40 years ago.
foreigners can live easily in our country malaysia because you use dollar money and change it to ringgit currency and the price of goods will continue to be expensive because outsiders have stable finances and the Malaysian government will withdraw all subsidized goods will be eliminated and make life difficult for us Malaysians
Kurang Gula, Tambah Sayur❤
malaysia Underrated Country almost tourist from west and euro said you dont need expose my country to the world we"re prefer low profile too many foreign tourists overstay in Malaysia because they fail to get an extension visa after 30 days
Do you like Malaysia better than Thailand?? Where were you attacked, the Cameron Highlands??? Sorry, it came across a little muffled.
Both countries are different and unique enough, it's hard to say one-over-the-other ...
Visit a mosque, educate urself on islam n u ll be surprised.
Go to Ipoh, Setiawan, Taiping. These are the smaller towns up north. Monsoon season now, avoid islands.
I really enjoyed being in Ipoh - thank you for the recommendations for next time!
Oh, that's so true. I force myself to walk the extra-long way sometimes
Be. Carfuli if yu come to malaysia dant yu dont want want back to your contery broo
Hahahha this is true 👍
Good to see you here and please take time to learn about Islam and show your support for Palestine.
If you resettle in Malaysia with your dollar income or retire fund, you life will be like a king there.
Thank you. While I'm more interested in living with - and like - the fine people of Malaysia, the currency conversion does make it an attractive option
In the West your government treated Asian migrants as second class citizen, you shouldn't be upset if asian government treats westerners the same.
You are most wellcome bro...forget about phobias ,we all from the same great2 father and mother(adam & eve)
Thank you
Use the word immigrants like the West like to use on us. Don't use the word expats like you guys are different from us.
😅 ha haa, sound like RDiCaprio, ,,im been poor, im been rich, and just keep da status,,
That background is unreal.
KL is everything.. who doesn't love it must go back and play your chicken doll🪆
You're an immigrant, not expat
Hahaha...Mat Salleh
One question. Are you using the bum guns or are you still wiping?
Lol.
Haha this is most random
Lmao. Life changing equipment.
Took me a minute to figure out what you meant ... and then I was laughing so hard
@@SlowTravelProTips you're still not answering the question
The ladies only coach is to protect women from being squeezed up against men when the train is crowded. It is very uncomfortable for a woman
@@khoo5199 I sat in a ladies section of the MRT train albeit for one stop only from Bukit Bintang to TRX Exchange and it was fine and comfortable. There were a couple of men in there as well, presumably traveling with women in the group or tourists who don't read English or Malayu.
Having been to Dubai and a couple of cities in Oman, having gender separated spaces doesn't bother me.
@@khoo5199 If you are uncomfortable or afraid of getting "squeezed". I suggest you not to use the train. U can always walk, use grab or drive. Everybody is uncomfortable getting squeezed by the crowd. Nobody looks forward to it, be it men or women. I am a man who is uncomfortable getting squeezed, where is my men's only coach? Just because you are a woman doesn't mean you get special treatment. Women want equality and that's exactly what we should give them. Nobody should ever demand special treatment.
Great, I don't care if that ever happens.

@@annew.1 It doesn't bother u because u r a woman and you are enjoying the special treatment given to you. Its only sexist if stuff like this is women who are being sidelined. If its done to men its not sexist. Also, I remember a couple years back I had only 1 off day per week and it was on a Wednesday. I love swimming and I expect on my off days up I can swim at the public swimming pool. When I arrived I found out that since that week, every Wednesday only women can use their pool. Like why should it be that way. I pay my fair share of taxes and I expect as a tax payer I am treated equally. If I am going to be sidelined then I expect to pay less taxes compared to these privileged groups. If I am not allowed to go into certain coaches, parking lots, swimming pools and I have to struggle to use these public facilities. Why should I pay equal taxes?
