Nailed at 3:25 - honest review mate, well done ! I would bet it's a primary ingrediant toward the JW Black Ruby....lovely nose & thats it. Sweet & thin.
Thanks for reviewing, Jim. Glad you did it, so I don't have to try it. "sweet"and "thinn" are not particular words that are appealing to me when it comes to whisky. Slàinte mhath
Absolutely no brainer to choose a Deanston; love the 12 and the V.O. (the latter I've picked up for as little as £25! 😋). Certainly won't be emptying the wallet for this RL12 Jim going on your review my friend.
Thanks for reviewing this very marketed offering. Like Peter and Drew, I appreciate you torturing your palate for our benefit. This just reinforces why I don't spend my nickels on Diageo any more. I explored them in my early journey and never looked back. This reminds me I'm not missing a thing. The Deanston 12 is so very much better! But, like you say, those with a sweet tooth may love this one. Not me. Cheers, Jim.
@@budj13 cheers Bud. There's always that feeling, deep down inside, that I'm just wasting money on these whiskies but...that's the journey isn't it! And, like em or not...I'm still enjoying the ride. Diageo does have it's fair share of duds though. Don't think I have any more on the horizon for a while 😉 Cheers my friend.
Great review, Jim. Honest as always... but then again, why wouldn't it be?! It's as if the IYLTTTT for these well... uhm underwhelming (at best) whiskies is more of an IYLTTTSMBWTO instead of a "parallel suggestion" to a different bottle in the same ball park. Oh, the abbreviation?? If You Liked This Then Try Something Much Better With This One! 🤠🥳 And by the way, thanks for taking (yet another) one for "the team", I won't be looking for this one, not in shops, not in bars. If necessary, I'll just close my eyes too 😅 Cheers! 🥃
I have a good thing to say about Royal Lochnagar...... The tasting we had at the distillery was fantastic with some great old stock of Diageo Distilleries in the glasses
Jim Maestro, u r the voice of reason ! ----------------------------- Lochna is the LEAST interesting of the Diego bunch, barely comparable to a Blend ! (Nice vid BTW)
Diageo really are falling these days. Lagavulin, Talisker and Clynelish quality has been downward trending for well over 5 years and the rest of the stable really aren’t picking up the slack going by this and the Cardhu review.

Honest as ever 🤣…I keep saying it , but this man this channel should have 10 times more viewers ..Simply the best ..cheers Jim 👍

Hi Jim, another one that I had early on in my journey and quickly left behind. As always a good and honest review. Slàinte Jim 🥃
Thanks for taking one for the team Jim. I've never been tempted by Royal Lochnagar, now that is locked in.
@@Peter_Box cheers Peter.
Great review.
I liked the use of the word ‘fodder’ . I hadn’t heard that word for a while and it made me laugh.

Appreciate your honest words Jim and as Peter mentioned, taking one for the team. Hoping you treat yourself to a better 12yr next review. Cheers!

For your own palate's sake, Jim, I'm hoping Springbank 12yo is not too far behind RL in the alphabet of 12s. Cheers!
