@@Maadthreads this is such an old comment, but i’m looking into buying and i’m a 5/5.5 in women’s so close to your size and was wondering what size kids doc’s you wore? i think a kids 4/5 would likely fit based on measuring and other kids shoes i’ve worn but wasn’t sure as i know from experience kids shoes can sometimes fit perfect in the size expected and other times they’re wildly different! and i know some kids boots can be TINY around the ankle though with these being actual lace ups that should likely not be too big of a deal
Just bought my first Jaden's today! The employee working at the store recommended some thick socks to combat the blisters and any other friction from the boots. They also said to leave the boots un zipped and the tongue loose when not wearing them so it doesn't maintain the memory of it's factory new tightness. Aside from that, super comfy and empowering 👍
When the boots are new, right out of the box, apply oil. Mink oil or neatsfoot oil. Allow to dry overnight. Brush. Repeat. After a few weeks, the leather fibers will be softer. Lace up just enough so that the shoe isn't falling off. Don't tie them tight. Wear them around the house like a slipper for a few weeks. That will allow the leather to flex and mold to your foot, as the boot is breaking in.

Just got my first pair today. I've got reeeaally small feet, a UK size 3, very narrow and with high arches. After some time in the shop, we were able to find a pair that worked, they were the 1460 Pascal Virginia boots made from a really soft leather, so they're nice and comfortable. Just needed to add some heel grips and they should be great with some thick socks. So excited to wear them!
Update they're broken in now and comfy. Well, they didn't need the typical 'breaking in' like other Docs do, but they gave me blisters for a while, but now they don't, and I can't get enough of them!
@@ren-fz7gk they probably make me about 3 inches taller! & i absolutely love them, the platform is very bold (i got white) and heavy at first but i wear them almost everyday :) def recommend them.
Question: when you’re breaking in docs, where do you feel the most tightness? I just got my first pair, white 1460s and I can’t tell if they’re too small or it will loosen up over time. They feel tight where the laces start and behind my heel. Idk if I should return and get a size up or keep them
I find that they are tightest where the laces begin! But if they are tight at the heel, they may be too small. Usually if they fit correct, there is no discomfort in the heel!❤️ hope this helped you out!
hi! im thinking about ordering a pair of the 1460’s online since i cant try them on in person and since im a size 9.5 with slightly wider feet do you think i should go with a 9 or 10?
Dr. Martens were developed by the German doctor Klaus Märtens (hence the name). He started developing the shoes in 1947 with his business partner Funck near Munich. The shoes quickly became popular, so that Märtens and Funck opened a factory in Munich in 1952. It was not until the 59s that Bill Griggs, managing director of the shoe manufacturer R. Griggs & Co, acquired a production licence from Märtens and Funck.
Enjoyed your video- mostly always size down in general with leather boots. Docs (same rule) if in doubt still always get them snug- never tight just snug... also you can go to a local (western) store and they can loosen your leather boots they’re always kind to do so. Depending on how loose you want then they can add a device for 24-36 hours... (I worked at boot barn long ago) people would bring in their working doc- twisted ex steel toe- red wings- etc. don’t be scare to get snug leather boots weather combat, punk rock, western, working boots. Always can loosen leather :) Awesome video. Great tips
thank you for sharing your tips and experience!!! its always so helpful for people, because basing your shoe off a sizing chart can be really hard. Thank you again!❤️
Thank you so much for these important information! This video really helped especially for someone who just got into Dr. Martens for awhile. Now I know what to look for and which type to buy.
I bought my oxblood red 1460 pair about a year ago and still enjoying it to this day. I love to wear it with my 6-pocket military type shorts because the shorts make the boots fully visible and it's a head turner wherever I go.
I just ordered a vegan pink/lavender vegan 1460 off of Zappos. This is my seventh pair. I am so excited. I also have the crazy horse in black and brown, the vegan 1461, the Mary Janes in burgundy, and the Blaires. I am having the most difficult time breaking in the Blaries because they're patent leather.
I really want my first pair of docs but am normally seizing EUR41 but wanting a jayden i'm really confused on which seize to get orrh and i'm in Cameroon so possibly of retail
i agree with you regarding size. the stiffer leather, size up. the softer leather is more true to size. you need to try on the exact style and type of leather, to know the fit before buying online
I’m thinking of finally getting the jadons! I have the 1460 in a size 7 but whenever I tried on the Jadon size 7 in store, they were way too big! I tried on size 6 and they fit right, with my big toe touching the top with thick socks on. I know you said Jadon fit bigger but I’m scared of getting the 6 and they end up being smaller than I thought 🙃 should I still get the 6? I wish they have half sizes! 😩
Hi! Short story: I found you through a comment you left on Katie Steckly's account about copyright and audio, then clicked on this video and watched the whole thing, then wrote notes about things to look up. I thought - what the hell is Dpop.. now I have homework.
Hi!! Thank you so much for coming over to my channel ❤️❤️ Depop is fantastic! It’s an app where you can shop second hand from other sellers. Hope you find something good!
ive bought the jadon ones im male i wear 43 normally but when i recived em they were awfull big looking for my body type so i decided to send em back but the problem is which size is better if i am in between 42-43? is there a big difference if id get me the 42 size ones? i dont know
I really want to have the hello kitty doc martens but they only place I could fin them on eBay do you think it’s Save to buy them there Love the video btw was really really helpful ❤️
Wow great video! I would love to know your opinion about the Dr Martens 1460 Sparkle or if you own a pair with the same type of material? Is the durability comparable to that of the classic 1460? Thank you so much!
Thank you for watching! if you take a look at my Dr. Martens collection, I own a vegan 1460 chrome pair, with a very similar material to the 1460 sparkle. They just aren't AS sparkly! I would say the shoe is still very durable, but it is more prone to scratches and scuffs that don't really come off. so if you aren't into the "worn" docs look, id stick to one with a smooth or matte finish! any of the chrome or sparkle patent leather ones can scratch quick! I hope this helped❤️✨
@@Maadthreads Immensely, thanks again! I am planning to buy my first online and they were selling the sparkle for 56% off. I cannot seem to find proper reviews online so you were a really big help 💙
I have the 1460s and I'm an 8 in those but I want to get the 1461s they don't sell them anywhere near me so I can't try them on is the sizing the same?
They’re usually always tight when you first get them. I’m usually a 7.5 or an 8 but I got a 7 and the length is perfect. If they’re tight, you can break them in usually.
Ugh I want those ones SO badly!!! I have the 1461 bex which is the most similar pair I have to those, and they are a little tough to break in but once you do, they are amazing!
I got the canvas material floral ones as a gift years ago and I wore them once because they were the wrong size. Hoping I’ll be able to find them a loving home since they’re awesome , but my other 1460/pascal style docs are 7 and the ones I was given are a 6. Now I’ve been hunting for the Molly in a specific color and whenever I find the pair I want, they are sold out in my size 😹 can’t win.
I try to buy a 1460 but im 7.5 And i try the number 6 from men because It was the only size that was available and they were too big. Should i run up ir down? Thank you ✨
Hi I was wondering if the jadons are hard to walk in. I’m 5’5’’ almost 5’6” and I want them for the Grungy platforms! I think they will look super cool once broken into but I don’t want them to be uncomfortably heavy or hard to walk in. And if I were to get them off the docs website or journeys, do you think I should size down to 7 if I’m a true 8?
Hi!! They definitely aren’t too too hard to walk in, you will adjust very quickly! They look super cool. I would say if you are a true 8, 7 may be tight, but I’m not sure! I would recommend trying them on if possible ❤️
Hi, I know that this is an older video but I’ll ask anyway. I tried on the 1460 Pascal the other day i usually use EU 37 in stuff like vans! and tried on 38 for good measure. But it did slip, kinda like a flip flop? Would you recommend using my regular size? I’m afraid of blisters both from being too thight or too lose in the heel🥴
If you size up, I’d recommend getting an insole to make the shoe fit better, and make it more comfy! They will stretch though, so it’s just a matter of using your best judgement. the wonder balsam is great for a faster break in if you decide on the smaller size🫶🏻
Hey! I'm planning to buy Pascal Virginia Black for my first pair. I usually wear a US Size 6 for Sperrys and 6.5 for Nikes. What is your recommended sizing, am I going for US 6 or 7 since they don't have half sizes and my toes are on the wider side?
normally I wear a 7 in flat shoes (6.5 in heels) and got a 5 in my jadons. tried them on in store, otherwise I would've never known to size down so much!
I'm glad I've found this channel! 🤗 I'm size 5 too. I ordered online 1460 Pascal Classico Leather Lace Up Boots in size US 5. I'm wondering if I made the right choice, although I've always wanted my shoes to have an extra space atleast half size but was thinking size US 6 might be too big. I just wanna know if size US 5 fits just right or do you think it still has a little space in it making it atleast 5.5 which I do prefer 🤔 Thanks! 🤗
@@Maadthreads i got a pair of kinda blueberry color ones at a second hand shop. They look really shiny cant tell if they are leather they are the 8 eye 1460s . trying to make sure they are legit . they are made in Taiwan and most fakes are made in china. Any info would be appreciated thanx.
What about Japan sizes? its in centimeters. So if I wear Nike Airforces size EU44 (that is 28 cm) do you think Doc Martens Jadon in size EU45 (also 28 cm) will be good?
I'm US 5 and I ordered 1461 SEX PISTOLS LEATHER PRINTED OXFORD SHOES and a Voss sandals. This will be my first ever docs shoes. I ordered my exact size and I don't know if it will fit. We don't have any Dr. Martens physical store here in my place. 😭😭😭😭
I think if you ordered your exact size, you will be alright! please keep me posted on how you like them, and send me some pics on instagram!! id love to see them!❤️✨
If your toes are squished in there I would size up! They may stretch up to a half size, but it will be really uncomfy in the process. Hope this helps a bit!
@@Maadthreads thank you so much for replying ❤️ there's lots of room in the heel and when Im sat down I can wiggle my toes, it's just walking in them I can feel the shoe a little. I've just strapped them tighter to see if my foot is sliding forward. Im just worried the next size would come off my foot 😂
Is there any way you can help me?! I just received the 1460 bex oxfords. I went one size down (My normal size is 8, and I ordered a 7) they are snug, should I have got my normal size? Or will they loosen up? Thank you ! :)
Because the leather is very tight on the oxfords, once you break them in, they should loosen up! Mine loosened probably a half size, and they are pretty well broken in!!! I hope this helped✨❤️
Thanks for this informativ video!!! I ordered the 1460 bex and im soo excited for them! I got the talib ones as well and im a EU 42 but they are a little bit loose so i got the 1460 in a EU 41 and i hope that they fit me!
Does anyone recommend buying the thick socks from the Docs website? Are they worth it? Do you think they'd help with the breaking-in process and even good to wear after they've been broken in?
I think any sort of thick sock is great for breaking docs in! And you can definitely wear them after you break the docs in, especially in colder months!
@Maadthreads currently struggling to get them broken in xD warm summer weather is not helping But its the most beautiful shoes I've ever owned and I WILL have them ready for fall
Hey girl! I been having jadons for a few months but after awhile wearing them , they kinda hurt. I got comfort insoles from the store but they are very thick. Im wondering if there are any better ones from outside or the dr martens store that I can purchase?
It totally depends but there are some really soft squishy ones that are super comfy literally from the drugstore! I would recommend the wonder balsam from dr martens because it will help soften the leather! Hope this helped ❤️
@@Maadthreads Thank you! its usually the bottom of my feet that hurt after awhile. Dr martens has different ones but I’m not sure if they are all the same, I dont want my boots to feel too snug 😭. Im trying to look on amazon but I have literally no clue what brand I should be getting.
hi Madison!! im getting the 1460 smooth leather lace up and im not sure about which size should i get, im a european 36-37 and i want a little bit of room to grow! which size would u recommend? :)
@@Maadthreads yeah i actually think they are pretty comfortable. They got more of a combat boot look to them. So definitely a lil different than the 1460 classics.
I would say 8 will be much better! If they happen to be a little big, you can always get an insole. It’s better to have it a little bit than too small! So excited for you!✨❤️
Hey, I'm planning on getting the 1461 docs and my regular size is 39 (Europe) and my question is, should I order a size 39 for my docs or a different one?
Hi I'm buying online and on the store online it says 9.21" is a 5 but my feet are size 9-9.5 and they are 9.2" I'm buying Jadon Pisa leather platforms so I'm really confused
I really need someone’s opinion before I commit, I tried on my friends docs who got a size 8, and I’m a size 8, but I had a little over a thumb of room, should I go down to a 7
@@TheCitroenman1 you sure? They won’t be too big? Especially after worn in? Idk, when I tried hers on (brand new) it was weird having all of the extra room in the toes, but I’d rather them fit than be too small so I’m not sure LOL
@@Maadthreads okay so, I saw the size guide says a size 7 is 9.88 inches, my feet are a little less than 9.50.. soo, wouldn’t a 7 do fine I think?? An 8 is 10.21 inches which just seems way too big
I really love the leona heeled boots. i have put off buying them because of the price but i have changed my mind and decided to go for it. Saving up to buy them soon.
i actually bought a b&w sidney creeper platform without knowing anything about docs. im a size 4(UK size) so i got a 4, but hurts like hell when i wear them, lol i wear winter socks so i dont get blisters. would i eventually break in on them or am i hopeless
The creepers always cause me a lotttt more pain than the boots! There’s a good chance you will break them in eventually but it may take some time. Have you tried the wonder balsam ?✨
heyyy i’m a little late lol but i wanted to buy a pair of 1460 smooth leather second hand but idk my size. i wear a size 9 in most of my shoes but my vans are usually a 8.5 so should i get a 9 or will it be to big?
After watching this video I ran to my nearest store because I was really ready to get mine I decided to get a pair of 101 6 eye boots as I wanted a simple pair to wear when wanting to look casual but not too casual and ended up buying the all black ones if anybody seeing this does get a pair I will say get a size bigger I'm usually a size 6 but got a size 7 as I'm in the stage of childhood where my feet are rapidly growing
I have the 1460 pascal virginias as my first pair, since i wanted the soft leather for my first ones. I absolutely love them and they are sooo comfy! I just got the 1461 bex shoes on a whole 50% off and i am sooo exited for them!!!
I want to get the pascal ones aswell for my first pair. I’m usually a US 7 so do you recommend sizing down? I’ve tried them but a 7 is too loose on the heel and the 6 is very snug and a little bit loose on the heel so idk if they will stretch overtime :/
@@Alessandra-pc8qc hm i got my true size and they fit me well, but I’m sure they will stretch a bit since the leather is softer. I have only had them for a couple of months though, so I’m no expert!
if i’m a size 6.5 should i get size 6 or size 7? I don’t want it to fit too tight because i don’t want my feet to feel too suffocated since I have to try to break into them.
It depends how big the 43 is on you!!!! If you do 41 it could be too small, but at least with a 42 you could put an insole to help it fit. I would say it’s better to be a little big than too small!
Hi, so I'm a us 5.5 in kids for Air Force ones and Im not sure If I should get a 5 or 6 in doc Martens in the big kid sizes. what do you think I should get??
5.5 in kids is the same as a women’s 7 so I would say either a 6 or a 7. The best way to know for sure is to get a piece of paper, line the edge of the paper up with the wall, stand on the paper with the heel of ur foot the against the wall, take a pencil and mark the longest part of ur foot then measure from the edge of the paper to the mark u made. Check the size chart and go with whatever size is closest to ur foot measurement.
hi im new here, i just got these pair of doc martens currently and i know they are fake ones because they dont have the doc martens logo (below the sole) im too scared if they crease because it is my first time having doc martens boots. how do i avoid extreme crease? or do the fake ones crease more than the originals
Oh no!!!! I’m not sure of the answer because I haven’t had fake docs:(( but even with the real ones, I don’t mind creasing! I enjoy a worn combat boot look❤️

thank you for this information. i'm an educator and i work in university and in class settings. i'm planning to buy 3989 brogue (either in black or red, havent decide it yet). please guide me OP, or anyone. i can fit size 5 US / 36 for Converse, and I never had any boots before. should i go for size 6 US for the 3989 brogue? or should i step down to one size? thank you anyways, i never knew about the balsam, breaking down and what not. hope anyone / admin can help me with the question ^^ thank you!
Hello! Thanks for your question. I can try my very best to help out. Generally, converse run about a half size bigger than your average shoe size. So this would mean you’re probably around a 4-4.5. If you size up to a 6, and stretch a half size to a 6.5, I am imagining that will be too big for you. So in that case, I’d probably stick with the size 5 given they will stretch. Of course, I’d recommend trying them on if possible, even if you can’t find that style in store, trying on a standard 1460 will give you an idea of the fit. If docs are too big, that’s when you run the risk of blisters, awkward creasing, and general discomfort! I’m a 5 in converse, and I wear a 5 in docs. Just my thoughts, but let us know what you decide!
@@Maadthreads OMG YOU REPLIED! I find that they are tightest where the laces begin! But if they are tight at the heel, they may be too small. Usually if they fit correct, there is no discomfort in the heel!❤️ hope this helped you out!
well, normally, if they feel extremely tight it probably means that breaking them in won't help, and you have the wrong size.
hi! im thinking about ordering a pair of the 1460’s online since i cant try them on in person and since im a size 9.5 with slightly wider feet do you think i should go with a 9 or 10?
1460's can be pretty true to size, but since you have slightly wider feet I would recommend the 10! Not 100% sure tho!
@@Maadthreads what's about 1461? I'm wearing a size 8 us and i should get 41 eur (8us) or 40 eur (7us)? Help meee, please
Griggs & Co, acquired a production licence from Märtens and Funck.
awesome, thank you SO much for this little history lesson!!!! I appreciate it so much❤️
@@Maadthreads you're welcome. I live close the little town near Munich where Märtens started his business...😉 And I love Doc Martens!!
Always can loosen leather :)
Awesome video. Great tips
thank you for sharing your tips and experience!!! its always so helpful for people, because basing your shoe off a sizing chart can be really hard. Thank you again!❤️
Thank you so much for this Doc Martin video. You answered EVERY question I had about this brand. Well done.
Glad it was helpful!💕
Thank you so much for these important information! This video really helped especially for someone who just got into Dr. Martens for awhile. Now I know what to look for and which type to buy.
So glad this helped!!!🥺❤️ thank you for watching ✨
I bought my oxblood red 1460 pair about a year ago and still enjoying it to this day. I love to wear it with my 6-pocket military type shorts because the shorts make the boots fully visible and it's a head turner wherever I go.
That is awesome!!! I always love the oxblood color, it is so stunning!🤩
@@Maadthreads Thanks.
💗💘 the blaires are tough! Your collection sounds awesome though!
Great advice, thank you so much for sharing!🧚🏻✨💟
I’m thinking of finally getting the jadons! I have the 1460 in a size 7 but whenever I tried on the Jadon size 7 in store, they were way too big! I tried on size 6 and they fit right, with my big toe touching the top with thick socks on. I know you said Jadon fit bigger but I’m scared of getting the 6 and they end up being smaller than I thought 🙃 should I still get the 6? I wish they have half sizes! 😩
I wish they had half sizes too ugh!!! I would say get a 6, because jadons tend to rub a bit larger! Good luck✨💕
you're so cute 😊 my first pair were the 1461 quad leather shoes, I love them to death!!
ugh that is such a great first pair!!! thank you for watching and supporting, it is much appreciated!!!
I'm a size 8 mens in vans, what size do you recommend I get for 1461's?

@@lui_lui4988 i’m a size 8 in vans too, do you think the sizing would be the same for 1460s?
@@haileighhalladay I’m sure they’ll fit fine, just use thick socks

Getting my first pair of Docs!! Loved your video! Ty for the tips!!
Yay!! This is exciting! What pair are you looking to get?✨
Actually 2 pair..lol..penton bex square toe loafer and the church vintage monkey boots
So I was gonna buy the low doc martens and I’m a size 7 should I size up or down or get a 7
if you are a true 7, stick to size 7! ❤️
ive bought the jadon ones im male i wear 43 normally but when i recived em they were awfull big looking for my body type so i decided to send em back but the problem is which size is better if i am in between 42-43? is there a big difference if id get me the 42 size ones? i dont know
hey my feet is really small too WHERE CAN I GET A US 4 for jadons i cannot find it anywhere
Depop would be your best bet but I’m not sure they exist at this time! They have a juniors section on the site and I don’t see any jadons :/
I bought a white 1460 Doc Marten man boot, and why tf did the ties too small ? Is it happened to everyone else as well ?
Hmmm that is odd! I’d either take them back and ask about it OR just order some new laces if that is possible for you💙💙💙💙
I really want to have the hello kitty doc martens but they only place I could fin them on eBay do you think it’s Save to buy them there
Love the video btw was really really helpful ❤️
Thank you for watching! You should definitely look on Depop, they have a ton and it’s probably safer to buy them there❤️
Maad Threads thx ❤️
Loved this video! So I’m planning to buy the Jadon docs, I’m a size 7.5, do you recommend getting a size 7 or 8?
8 because they are tight
They’re usually always tight when you first get them. I’m usually a 7.5 or an 8 but I got a 7 and the length is perfect. If they’re tight, you can break them in usually.
I really wanna buy the 8053 quad shoes😍have you tried them and are they easy to break in?
Ugh I want those ones SO badly!!! I have the 1461 bex which is the most similar pair I have to those, and they are a little tough to break in but once you do, they are amazing!
I got the canvas material floral ones as a gift years ago and I wore them once because they were the wrong size. Hoping I’ll be able to find them a loving home since they’re awesome , but my other 1460/pascal style docs are 7 and the ones I was given are a 6. Now I’ve been hunting for the Molly in a specific color and whenever I find the pair I want, they are sold out in my size 😹 can’t win.
Omg that is the STRUGGLE!!! I’d suggest trying to sell them on Depop, someone would love them!❤️✨
I try to buy a 1460 but im 7.5 And i try the number 6 from men because It was the only size that was available and they were too big. Should i run up ir down? Thank you ✨
if they were too big i would go down
look at women's sizes, or compare mens to women's. A mens 6 is a women's 8, so you would need to size down a full size! hope this helped you!❤️🤩
I choose 7 and it fits perfect! Thanks!
@@Maadthreads
Okay thank you so much!!!
I just ordered my first pair of docs yesterday and they're the 1460 bex. I can't wait
Omg that is SO exciting!!!!!! I hope you love them ✨🤩❤️
Would it apply to the same breaking in with the Chelsea boots? Since they don’t have laces 😅
Yes definitely!
I’m wanting to get the Mary Janes, I’m usually a size 7. What size do you recommend I get?
I would recommend sticking with a size 7, but I have never tried on the Mary Janes so I can’t be sure! I’d recommend trying them on if you can❤️
Hey! I'm planning to buy Pascal Virginia Black for my first pair. I usually wear a US Size 6 for Sperrys and 6.5 for Nikes. What is your recommended sizing, am I going for US 6 or 7 since they don't have half sizes and my toes are on the wider side?
it never hurts to size up! if they are too big, you can always get an insole which will help with comfort as well as proper sizing!❤️
normally I wear a 7 in flat shoes (6.5 in heels) and got a 5 in my jadons. tried them on in store, otherwise I would've never known to size down so much!
It’s so wild how much different brands and shoe styles vary in size! So glad you were able to try them on💜
I'm glad I've found this channel! 🤗
hey! so sorry I never got to this comment, what did you wind up going for?❤️

I got Devon hearts but my toes feel a little tight- I'm not sure whether to go up or try break them in 😩
If your toes are squished in there I would size up!
You can always size up and get an insole, which I find to be so much more comfy than trying to squeeze a small size!✨☺️🌈
So in your 1461 bex oxfords you sized down 1 full size? :)
I am 7.5 Wide- a size 8 is good 👍🏼

Does anyone recommend buying the thick socks from the Docs website? Are they worth it? Do you think they'd help with the breaking-in process and even good to wear after they've been broken in?
I think any sort of thick sock is great for breaking docs in! And you can definitely wear them after you break the docs in, especially in colder months!

They should arrive after the weekend ^^

Check the size chart and go with whatever size is closest to ur foot measurement.

i can fit size 5 US / 36 for Converse, and I never had any boots before. should i go for size 6 US for the 3989 brogue? or should i step down to one size?
thank you anyways, i never knew about the balsam, breaking down and what not.
hope anyone / admin can help me with the question ^^
thank you!
THANK YOU! i will keep this in mind. since you mentioned it that way, i have a friend who wants to let go of his 1460 size 5US. i might be trying his boots on first just to see how it fits. i have no way of trying on the 3989 brogue (since i'll be buying them via Dr. Martens site).
