- This is a quick way to make extra long 2 story curtains easily and with a no sew hack!
I needed extra long curtains but everything I found was custom and super expensive, I needed something that wouldn't break the bank, but also that didn't need to be sewn.
I found Ikeas longest set of curtains (118”) and added a second set (98”) to make the 186” length I needed. I decided to go two toned, but you can do whatever you like! That's what is so awesome about DIY! You will need a super tall ladder, I borrowed a neighbors but I have a Little Giant Multi 26’ in my amazon cart as we speak!
I also wanted to make these SMART curtains and thought this portion isn't as budget friendly. It's super nice to just push a button to open these up! I used The SwitchBot and they have been pretty awesome so far.
Curtains
I got two sets of each of these to make 4 curtain panels -

I'm looking at my wife right now wondering why she didn't find these curtain bot things. I'm over here opening and closing curtains every day. Then I realized I AM HER CURTAIN BOT. Smh 😡🤯😆 great job by the way, they came out great!
At $99 per bot plus another $19 for the remote, you will probably be glad to be the curtain bot! How hard can it be to move grommets on round metal rods?
😂😂
Thanks for sharing the Bot!!!
My senior grabber thingy does not extend that long. I am using my walking stick to open and close my hard to reach curtains. One of those light bulb grabbers might work and be cheaper too.
@@deborahpinkey1264
Let's say you get two bot and a remote, for a total of $240. That's worth about 9 hours of work on average wage.
Now let's say that you spend 3 minutes daily moving curtains. In one year, that's 18.25 hours. Double the amount.
Let's say you have to take it down to charge it and then put it back up every six months. Even if you spent an hour doing that each time, you still only did 11 hours of work instead of 18.
Plus it is a one time expense. The next year, you already have your bot and you only do couple hours (or way less because that's highly overestimated) of work to charge, instead of 18 hours of moving curtains.
Finally someone who explained the process well. Thank you
You are the only one that describes the type of courting connection that works with the robots. Awesome 👌
Thanks So glad it was helpful
You did a great job. I mean a really great job. Congrats on your victory
Thank you so much for the kind words
Wow, you are fearless going up such a high ladder. You did a great job but I'd have wanted each curtain wider for a more aesthetic look. I understand that's a lot more work for you though. Having such tall windows means you have great light coming in....fabulous.
Yeah I thought about it but I really wanted a minimalistic look... thank you for watching
Terrific idea
@@EternalHarvestDecor I like that minimalistic look. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Loved your drapes. I would double the width to bring the installation to stunning.
Thanks for watching! I really wanted a more minimalistic looks
I agree, they were nowhere near wide enough
At least. These really can't be considered curtains. They're more like window decorations.
This was an ingenious idea to put two curtains together with iron-on tape! And thank you for displaying, and teaching us how to have remote controlled draperies...I'm impressed...😲
Thanks for watching ❤️❤️
Once again I'm impressed by all of you DIYers. You're so creative and so clever. Great job!
Fyi- This is not directly to you but every single video I watch when using brand new drapes or brand new tablecloths...No one irons them! You have to iron your stuff. You ruin the entire look with all the package wrinkles!!
Ironing curtains is such a waste of time. If you spray them with a little warm water once they’re up the wrinkles will naturally come out. I wash my curtains regularly (mine aren’t as big as these ones in this video thank goodness lol) and I just just let them dry naturally when I hang them up and they’re fry and wrinkle-free in a few hours. Give it a try if you haven’t already!!
Usually the wrinkles in curtains will hang out due to humidity, weight, etc. depends on what the fabric is.
@@veronicataylor9831 Depends on the material. Some stay wrinkled until they are ironed.
Really great idea. I would have added more panels but it is your home and you are so nice to let us into it to show us your diys. That tape looked really easy. Great idea. That ladder made me get butterflies in my tummy. 😲😳🙄
Thank you for the kind words and for watching!
You are my hero....Wonder woman!! Luvit!
Awe shucks thanks !
You made me nervous going up that ladder. My daughter fell off one when she was putting stuff in her attic. She lives in a high rise. You did a great job and I love them!
She was WAY too high on that latter being that tall... Holy Cow!!!
Dangerous... I climb a latter every day for my work... and would never go to the 2nd ruin at the top.... There was Nothing for her to grab if she started to fall ... and that was a long way Down!!!
Great job!! You can't find a way, you make a way!! Just like me. 😀
Yes! Thank you for watching!!
Wow 😳 that height I’m dead! Galaxy 🌌 Talent you have! Fantabulous Job! 😍
This is a great idea, well executed, love the two tones. Most people will have no idea how crazily expensive custom made curtains are, if you say 15’ they know you can’t buy off the shelf, they’ve got you! After I hang curtains, I steam the fabric to get all the creases out and I pull them mostly open and manually form the pleats I want. I then use clothes pegs half way down and fully down at the base to hold the pleats in place, placing spare fabric or tissue between the pegs and curtain fabric. I weight the base of the curtains with clip on weights so they hang full down to the floor. Leave for a few days, steam where the pegs were if they have left an impression, and the curtains will always return to these neat pleats when you open them. Especially automatically!
great tips!! Thanks so much for watching
Wow. Love the curtains, and may I add what a beautiful home you have. Those windows are just stunning. You are a very lucky lady to have that
Thank you so much!
That's awesome, I didn't know those automatic openers existed. Looks great
Right?! We love them
Me too! Totally worth it!
Bravo well done! Looks great and very smart ideas esp. remote just perfect👍🔧
Omg I love this idea,I did feel a slight Anxiety when you were on top of the ladder but it turn out beautiful 😻
It took some deep breaths haha
I would have left the top two windows free of curtains and put them from second set down. I love letting the light in! You did a great job!
It was so bright in the morning our house faces west and we needed a bit of filter in the morning for an hour or two. I love the light too
Great idea. Too make this more luxurious, you should double the width of the fabric and move the rods 12" more away from the window so when curtains are open, they won't block the light. Also need finials to complete the look.
I extended the rod 12” but didn’t add extra fabric. Thanks 🙏🏼 I wanted a very minimalistic look
This. Two more panels will make this look so luxurious. Very innovative work done this bad ass lady!, 🎉
Can you explain this a ittle more? Double the width of the fabric on each side? And add 12" to both ends of the rod horizontally, right?
Wow..great job. Love the curtains and new technology.❤👍
Lots of patience needed for this project.
Awesome outcome 👏 👌 👍👍
So glad to see your DIY no sew to lengthen curtains. I thought I was the only one who did this. The only difference is that my windows weren't that high. And I lengthened at the bottom placing ruffles. My widows are 96 and I couldn't find that in the color or texture that I needed so I bought them in 84 length and found matching creme colored ruffles at a fabric and art supplies store. I loved them. Thank you for showing the smart curtain rack. I didn't know such a tool existed. Love it!!!
Yay thanks! And thanks for watching
Your channel should be called BEYOND MCGIVER! So cool!
Haha that’s so nice! Thank you!
😂I have a hard time with regular curtains bc I’m short. I couldn’t imagine Windows this big. You did a great job. This is such a great idea!!
Thanks!
I sooo applaud you. Well done.
I don't even have windows this tall but I'm just impressed that you got on that ladder so high up. You go lady. 😊 I'm so nervous with being so high up.
Super good looking hack, if done with a bit of planning and patience this may very well be the best way to tackle large windows. Love it!
Omg you are brilliant ! Thank you for such an amazing idea i have been struggling with my tall windows🙏
So happy it’s helpful!!
Thats soo cool... love them well done, Id be doing that too, playing with them all day long...
My knees are knocking watching you climb that tall ladder! Love the curtains.
You and me both! HAHA took some pysching up on my part
This is ingenuity. Way to go, love the results and YOUR VIEW!
Thank you so much! I sure appreciate you watching and the kind words
Wow! Really smart solutions! That curtain bot thing is genius!
Ok had me until I have to climb that high. How about I just hire u. Lol. Ur like a boss 👍🏾🔥🔥
Haha thank you! It took a few deep breath’s for sure
The Switch Bot is a game changer!
Love it
We just did this to our windows that are 16’….I found really long curtains on Amazon…beautifully made and lined.
Go head girl I’m proud of you love seeing women doing handy work we can do anything !!
Thanks so much
WOW....curtain bots! cool. You've got courage, girl, to get up high on that ladder like you did. good job! Loved your video.
Those windows are Amazing!
Amazing! You did that! Whew and so brave on the ladder. I’d need to watch again to figure the curtain tape but amazing !
You deserve more than just one 👍🏼 … wow!!!
Awe thanks!
@@EternalHarvestDecor you’re welcome!
My hat off to you! Could never go up on that ladder, I fell off a 4-rung ladder and broke a leg.
Great results though.
You know, I toured the Little Giant factory recently and they said there are 2000 ladder accidents EVERY DAY 😳 so crazy. They are doing some cool things with ladders that help with that. But I totally understand
Fantastic!! I also loved seeing the snow outside :)
Wow, those are pretty slick and those windows are amazing!
Glad you like them! Thank you for watching!
You did a fantastic job. love the curtains. what a wonderful idea!
Good planning and execution!
Thanks!
Did no one see the view out the window? Amazing curtain job and that view... gosh!
Thank you for doing this video, I have been looking for solutions for very high windows in a house I am just about to complete a total renovation on. Love the hack and the bots.
Thanks Michelle!!
Awesome! Definitely saving this video. Congrats on the new house! ❤
Wow! Great curtains and I learned about a new thing...a curtain bot. Who knew??
They are pretty fun
I really needed this video. Also have tall windows, no way were we going to pay for custom curtains. Think I might try traverse rods.
This is exactly what I need !!!!!!!!!
Amazing work!! You saved money in one area and put the rest towards the bots very smart
Thank you! Yes!
Girl you up that ladder, your going to be my new best friend... I broke my ankle on a 2 run step ladder. Great job
Woot! Girl! You did it beautiful like a boss!
Thank you 🙏🏼
What a wonderful idea
They look amazing!!!!!
Great idea for opening and closing the curtains
Thank you
Excellent job. The curtains are gorgeous
Thanks so much! 😊
They look awesome.
I so love the smart curtain bot, great job!!! :)
Yay! Thank you!
Great Job on the curtains. I've never seen anything like that box for the curtains.
Thank you for solving my problem. I didn't know where to for anything like this
You saved me 3-4 thousand dollars.
So great that you shared this innovative device
Those look really nice with the two color tones.
Thank you for making this video! Nothing in my house is "standard size" of course, and I'm trying to work on a budget. I thought of this but wasn't sure it would look weird. I think I will go with it. I was thinking of making the bottom part detachable for easier cleaning the bottom may get dirtier than the top with pets in the house.
Have you thought about using large canvas tarps?
Painter tarps? They are wonderdul.
That’s a pretty slick idea! New sub. You’re adorable and so talented.
That is awesome windows!!! Well done for getting these curtains done. Clever you!!
New to your channel, You are a genius....my custom curtains were so expensive...and that is why they have been and will continue to be up there for the rest of my life LOL!!! they were installed for me too because there is no way I would have gone up on a ladder nor scaffold to do it myself....and OMG!!! the switchbot I had no idea such thing existed....ugh, now I want them lol....going to go see some more of your videos =)
Haha thank you!! I had to come up with another option haha
Use the scrap for table runners, pillow cases. Even tie backs.
Great ideas
Lovely n i love the bot thingee
Wow your braver than me going up that high on a ladder that high. Heights are really the only thing I'm scared of YIKES!
BRILLANT!!!! What a fantastic idea!!!! Thanks for such a great video!!!!!
Thanks for watching
Girl, you did that! A bit too much climbing on that ladder for me, but I'm going to hold my breath and give it a whirl! Thanks for the great ideas! New subbie!
Thank you! You could rent scaffolding too? That might be better and safet
@@EternalHarvestDecor I think that I'm going to "solider" through it like you did. There was something about your ease of being up there that inspired me! 🤗
how cool are those switch bots!!
You are a super creative lady ! Nice job!
Thank you!
Hey kids, your Mom is a genius!
Haha thank you
Brava. Kudos to your patience and well behaved kids! I see u have snow outside so to let the natural winter light in I'd opt to curtain just the lower windows. Btw, transparent push rods to open close drapes should be available too.
Wow that's so tall! You're amazing for installing the curtains alone! I hope you could make video about how to measure & install the curtain rods, this is amazing DIY video!♡
Thank you!
👏wow .. thank you great idea and worth watching.. great two tone color.
Really great video, I have had my curtains for 3 years now, but terrified to take on the task of hanging them or paying for it to be hanged, now maybe I will muster up the courage to do it myself. thanks.
That was a very smart ideal 👍🏼
Thanks
Beautiful. You looked so powerful with all your tools and on the ladder. Mama in action and mama delivers results!
As an independent woman this is so impowering to watch! You go girl!!!
Good job. A lot of work but so worth it at the end. First time seeing a bot for curtains. Don't have those in my country. With Amazon, it's possible 😊
More great projects to come.👍
Wow genius install!!!
Thanks!
Incredible! What a neat idea and pretty much fool proof to use iron on webbing to attach two curtains to achieve a desired curtain length without the hassle of either hand sewing or getting out the sewing machine! But as I'm a wuss when it comes to height this isn't a project I could undertake, lol. Oh and the smart bot is ingenious, no need to struggle with dragging heavy drapes open and closed each day. Excellent video presentation.
Thank you so much for watching!
I absolutely LOVE those windows 🪟!!!! A nice band of black or gray or a fringe of some sort would make the look finished but!!!
Ok young lady...you impressed me very much.I’m in the custom window covering installation business and I’m saying out loud you did a fantastic job here.! Nothing easy about what you just did and you did it on a budget which is outstanding. This Curtain bot is quite an amazing little device I’ve never seen before-I use more industrial grade motorized hardware which is crazy expensive but this gizmo you used is cool for applications like this.excellent job-only critique I would pass on to you-is pull the hardware in a little-don’t have it sailing past the brackets so much-it’ll look better...and if your not too busy this summer I would hire you to come out to The Hamptons of NY and be my assistant 😁 I’m getting too old to be climbing the ladder and you’ve proven your damn good at it👍🏻👍🏻
Well this just made my day! Thank you, it also made me want to come to the hamptons hahaha. Thanks for watching
@@EternalHarvestDecor 👍🏻thumbs up and subscribed👍🏻
Can make an extra long charging cable that hides behind your curtains that stays plugged to the curtain robots.
depending on your set up the company that makes the bots also makes little mountable solar panels
Thank YOU for sharing, curtain's look beautiful!🌞
❤️❤️
What a great video! Simple and concise on the directions. Anyone can follow these directions and the curtains look awesome! I wish when others do videos they could take a few pointers from you on how to do a DIY video!!! You had me as a subscriber as soon as I watched it!
Brilliant !!! You are so clever.
Thank you! 😊
Wow- incredible bravery up on that ladder! And just overall industriousness- you are inspiring. If I had one critique it would be that rod protruding from each end. It seems disproportionately skinny with the quantity of curtain. I would love to see the rod flush with edge of curtain.
Absolutely amazing 🥰
great idea on the curtains!! I have curtains that I didn't know what to do with, because I only have one panel, or some aren't long enough, but I love the design. I will consider cutting them and adding it to the bottom of others, and use that tape!! beautiful windows girl!! thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you! I’m glad it was helpful!
Fantastic, thank you for sharing God bless you and your family 🤗
That was awesome! You rock!
Thanks so much!
Great idea. I hope you ironed them.
No I’ve found with curtains this big the heat and weight straightens them out in just a few days!
Loved this and now since I cant find the curtain I need in IKEA I'm going to try this....how ever my OCD is saying "pls tell me she eventually steamed those curtains" 🤦♀️ that drove me crazy.
I was waiting for the rug to melt.
sorry to disappoint no melting here, it worked flawlessly
I thought a sheet placed on the rug would've kept the new draperies clean; then the sheet could be tossed into the washer afterwards; but she forged ahead, unconcerned with trivialities. Climbing up, and down on the ladder gave me concern, but Ms. Fearless leaned into it, and accomplished her task.
