That is actually such a good term for Total War diplomacy, I'm a little disappointed it never occurred to me.
Funnily enough, you followed the tactics used by actual Civil War generals. Artillery was used very aggressively, and often was placed in front of infantry.
plus the cavalry for the south, though he used it in a bit more of a head on method in comparison to the harassment tactics of the southern cavalry
there is a real morale issue shooting your own in the back with a cannon... so Yeah...
They had CANNONS, not HOWITZERS... they had a direct line of fire not an arch.

2:52 those units were called zouaves and were basically light infantry, and very well trained in the bayonet. The uniforms came from the French in Northern Africa, that is why they are wearing turbans.

Its funny you actually say that about that fence, because there is in fact actual fence used as defenses (no pun intended) in museums at battle sites from the civil war all over america. Most notably, Gettysburg. Ah, the historical fence!

War Crimes yeah this was back when you went to college whenever you were ready. Plus its a military school so maybe even earlier with the right connections. Dont think the citadel cadets saw much action outside of sumter (they’re the ones that fired on the fort and arguably started the whole war). But there’s a pretty famous account where the vmi cadets were sent in and the general had a famous quote regarding it. Cant remember off the top of my head

Oddly enough, despite the joke about the "point me to the part in the constitution where I have the right to read" there actually is a part about that. The 1st amendment, and a few later decisions by the Supreme court expanded it to cover it.

I am currently sipping James E Pepper 1776 Bourbon. Its an old old bourbon recipe, and the distillery is a Historical Landmark and currently owned by the Woodford Reserve Distillery. “Buffalo soldier” didn’t come into use until after the end of the Civil War (and even then, the name was mostly used in the Old West). Prior to that, regiments of black soldiers were actually called USCT, or US Colored Troops, so the mod wasn’t that far off from the actual history.

The units wearing turbans and red pantaloons are American Zouaves. They were inspired by the news reports in the years leading up to the war of the French Zouaves used in their North African campaigns. Both the North and the South had multiple regiments of Zouaves using a wide array of colors.
