Hey Jon I have a 2022 sport Tacoma and I put a 3/2 ready lift block and spacer. I’ve experienced some vibration on the steering wheel when going over rough roads. Could this be because of the lift? If so what lift would you recommend for the Tacoma ?
@@TRDJon yes I got new tires when I lifted the truck and they aligned it and balanced it. The truck steering wheel seems to vibrate a good bit when going over bumps or rough roads. I don’t know if it’s the lift or What I could do to make it seemingly again
The current Tacoma hates bigger tires and the hydraulic steering feels alot of the road. Bigger tires in combination with a lift will make the steering wheel move around a bit more.
Has anyone figured out a more efficient way on the remote starting of Toyotas? I don't want to install a remote start if my truck is going to turn off when i open the door handle.
@TRDJon yea I forgot the name of the place but there was a bar that would have live music right on the water. I think smoke or black was in the name. The bar was right in the middle of the building. I loved it there lol.
I like this system over the Pedal Commander yes. I had no issues with the Pedal Commander but I’ve heard a lot of people having fault codes. I also like how this one has a couple more features, and you can really fine too, and the percentage of the throttle.
So aggravating that Toyota slows the pedal input down. Anyone that has driven a Dodge vehicle, including the minivan (which I did as a rental), will know that those vehicles have the stupidest quick pedal inputs.
I also drove a brand new Toyota Sienna (when I had asked for a full size) as a substitute rental not too long ago. With only me in the car, it also has the same sluggish response despite having a fairly quick hybrid engine. Forget about spinning wheels for the heck of it on that as well.
Best mod for Tacoma regardless of brand. One of the other UA-cam channels did a direct comparison throttle booster to a tune. She was very happy with the throttle booster.
Spend a little more and get the best Tacoma mod money can buy, the Overland Torque Tune. Truly better throttle response and most importantly, no more gear hunting. 😎
Honestly though where I live with this truck in FL it doesn’t gear hunt. Also I mentioned in the video why no to a tune personally. But I’ve heard that OTT is great.
@@TRDJon Mine doesn’t either here in NorCal, even hauling 8 bales of hay on hilly back roads. It’s never felt lacking in power. It’s clocks a pretty decent 23 to 24mpg every fill up too, figuring actual gallons used. Weird thing is I’ve been driving a 21 TRD Offroad rental while mine is in the shop (idiot coworker backed into my parked SR), it seems to be very similar. Bigger wheels and tires and more weight definitely hit the mileage a bit, but not as bad as I expected, and same shift characteristics as my SR. No gear hunting.
Jon, awesome video. My youngest brother has a 2018 Tacoma Limited TRD Sport. He has always complained about the sluggish shifting and throttle response. I just shared this with him. Keep up the great work. 👍
I prefer to tune extra power and no need for that device. Tune is not traceable in the Tacoma never had an issue at the dealer. Easy to flash back to stock.
@@TRDJon easy to do yourself. But, I understand some people's apprehension I tuned my Tacoma, my brothers and my TRD Camry it was quick and easy. I appreciate your quick response.
@@TRDJon my tune did. However, I just purchased the same SP07 as you did (using your code ;-)= . I have the 2022 TRD Pro, and I'm curious if it will help some of the stuttering I have a the 1100 to 1400 RPM range under acceleration. Do you have this stuttering effect within that RPM range under normal acceleration and within the 1100 to 1400 RPM?
@@TRDJon Any issues getting it to connect to the cell via bluetooth? Samsung S22 Ultra for the phone, and I uninstalled and install the app as well, but can't get it to connect for anything. I can toggle the modes manually by the button, but nothing through the app.
Great job on the video Jon! Thanks for making it. A tune can't be removed and sold separately when you replace the truck. These are better because you can recoup much of the cost.
The Magnusun Moss warranty act doesn’t allow any shop to void your warranty for any aftermarket parts or repairs on your vehicle. Doesn’t mean a shop won’t do that lol but check with your local dealer. Some are very mod friendly and others aren’t so you may need an attorney, but you’d win in the end. Depends on what one is willing to do, but programming, bolt on’s, they still have to warranty the vehicle provided it didn’t cause the repair needed like you put a 100 shot of nitrous and blew a head gasket or your piston rings. Don’t expect yota to put new rings and head gasket in for ya for free under warranty lol
True story - My neighbor with a 2023 TRD OR 4x4 installed a Pedal Commander. With in a month, it put his brand new truck in limp mode and potentially could have fried his ECU. I on the other hand got the Overland Torque Tune (OTT) on my 2023 TRD OR 4x4. All I can say is that I have heard horror story after horror story on these "simply plug in here" devices. OTT actually has real people/engineers behind it and from 2,000 to 12,000 miles on my '23, it's been the best investment. Skip the new version of the "pedal commander" before you really damage your truck...and no warranty will cover that!
A lot of people who have issues with these like to change the modes on the fly. You cant do that. That is horrible for the vehicle and system. But most won’t admit they did that.
@@citizenpark2782 The three thoughts about getting a tune and "voiding your warranty": 1st - unless your truck is being warrantied for something that the tune specifically caused, you will be fine. Meaning if your roof starts to leak from the 3rd brake light, they're not gonna say "Oh, but your truck is tuned...so no warranty for you". 2nd - The Tacoma is the most reliable truck on the planet. If you were tuning a Chevy Colorado, I would advise against it. Finally, after all the forums and groups I'm in about the Tacoma, I've never read once where someones Tacoma was denied warranty due to a warranty OR their Tacoma had major issues like going into "limp mode" from a tune. I can't say the same for these plug and play devices like this one and the Pedal Commander.

Any thoughts on the ECO mode for this? Looking to smooth out my acceleration on my 24 Sequoia and help my mags!
Idk. It seems like a mushy peddle to me
Gotcha. Thanks! Getting a GX next month so am considering this
@@TRDJon
Heck yes!
Does it solve the issue with gear hunting?
Can I use my Bluetooth music on while this is on or I have to log out from the shift power app.😊
Yes you can
What is your MPG in the Tacoma ??? Increase, decrease or same…😊
ABout the same still
What year is this Tacoma TRD Pro?
2022
do you get worse mpgs using it in a higher percentage?
I haven't noticed
Kinda sounds like it removes the "governor"
Would this work on a 2012 Tacoma? The hubs’ Tacoma is a little sluggish. I can’t imagine the air intake would have anything to do with that.
Never mind! I checked the site! 😁
They have one for that truck on their site. My discount code should work with that as well.

Too bad this device wasn’t around for the valet mode when the garage dudes took Cameron’s dads Ferrari for a joy ride… Ferris Bueller’s Day Off 😂😂
Lol right?????
How is this different than the pedal commander? (Or is it?)
Man I miss Destin. I was stationed at Eglin for a year during EOD school. Such a beautiful area

Does this resolve the "gear hunting" issue these Tacoma's suffer from? If not, tune is still the way to go.
It helps mitigate it actually. Doesn’t get rid of it but with added throttle control it helps
Do You think those dents on your back seats will be permanent?
I never put my rear leather seats down on my old Tacoma because I didn’t want them to stretch
Does it work for the 22 4Runner SR 5 premium

Correct.
I’ve had my ‘23 SR Access Cab for almost 7 months now, I’ve been totally happy with how it drives. What am I missing?

Other than making you want to drive faster, does it affect your gas mileage? Or just make the throttle respond faster to your foot?
Throttle is basically faster, so I guess intern, it may decrease gas mileage but I’ve had it on my 4R for months and have noticed no true decrease.
Do any of these modes improve mpg?
I haven’t seen a difference on my 4Runner yet. It drives better and the mpg really hasn’t decreased at all.

Just say NO to energy drinks Jon 😂 I am more of a cold brew coffee & Tea guy. Energy drinks have too much of a crash for me.
