I love you for telling all those things! It's what I felt right using my intuition! I've had sciatica! I've excercised all way through! Light excerices. Movement is my healing. After sciatica I get back to my normal yoga practise. With all that forward bending. I've just been more mindful and councious. Pain in lower part came back lately and I found you! And after a week of quite normal excercising is so much less painful.

My lower back pain and hip pain hits hard no matter what I do but certain stretches help somewhat send me more info and videos that may help my situation thanks
I work in construction and while pushing a heavy bag of insulation foam, i felt like a tear or pop or dislocation at or near my spine, i can't really remember, but after that I'm in serious pain, it hurts when i do anything. I was so upset because it was not that heavy, I felt like improper posture caused this or probably overuse of my body. I went to the doctor right away and he tested my balance and my legs strength, he said it's probably muscle because the tests are good. I still worked the day after in light duty, and now after 48 hrs, it got better, better mobility but it still hurts in some movements, so I don't know if it's disc herniation or just pulled muscle because it's at the middle of my back. I felt slight tingling on my left foot this day but it's too light. I found your videos and it made me feel better, because I'm really scared and overthinking about it sometimes.
If had severe sciatica for 8 weeks now. B4 I started watching YT videos I was bending forward touching my toes (maybe not a great idea?), leg stretches, and lateral stretching all while in a lot of pain. What I’ve found is that moderate movement in all areas seems to be healing, but that I may have initially injured the herniated disc more than helped while doing those bending forward movements. I agree with most of what SSWellness is saying here, but I also think that the title of this video may be detrimental to someone just learning about their injury, by causing them to complicate a fresh injury. I also think that patience should be stressed as it is probably the #1 reason that people give up and wallow in pain instead of pushing through. At least that’s how I feel sometimes about my circumstance… sucks, but this one takes months to heal. I’m praying for everyone out there that is in pain. Just know, you can get thru this. It’s going to be uncomfortable, but you will make it, just don’t give up.
100% agree! The title is meant to poke fun at the running theme in rehab where we are taught to avoid so many things. My point is that avoiding things is the problem, we don’t need to live in fear! It’s meant to criticize the common fear based narrative. Hope it helps!
Everything about your videos is top notch: the (f)actual information, the pace and humour in your delivery and the logic sequences you teach. You are amazing. Thank you.
Brilliant, Brilliant brilliant. Have been working on my Forward Head Posture, neck hump, shoulders, scapula & hips. Have made good progress even in 3 weeks - especially building up my glutes. My shoulders rotate well now, no tension headaches & neck hump miraculously going down. All feels better. I was though feeling too tense with walking, trying to keep my core braced. Thanks to this vid. it feels so much better allowing my body to move naturally. Great tip to take a breath & hold while sitting & standing from seated. 💜💜💜

@@stephanielafferty7078 Not at all! Small disc herniations don't cause pain, they are an accidental finding on an MRI. They don't matter. @@ShapeshiftWellness I thought that too. That’s why I had 5 other MRIs (both legs, pelvis, hip, lumbar, thorasic) and every other test known to man of that area. Colonoscopy, cystoscopy, intravaginal sonogram, pelvic sonogram (done in the hospital). Literally everything else has been checked. The only finding was the “mild” l4/l5 bulge. The pain I had in the beginning was 100% coming from the spine- no doubt about it. I couldn’t get comfortable at all. I’m 7 months in and I’m seriously wondering if I will ever heal. Thank you this makes sense. The “fear” is so true. The past two days I’ve been feeling this way and forget that that is part of the healing process: mild pain
Surprisingly, after this video I realized for the first time that it was the FEAR of pain that made me hurt more! And it is precisely because of the fear of pain that I even have not leaned over for several years, and in general I very much limit myself in movement, (just in case!) which essentially makes things worse. I will fight fear! 💪 Thank you for your video!)
Fear of pain is more disabling than pain itself! That said, we need to find the balance between too little activity and too much. This video should help: HOW LOW BACK PAIN WRECKS YOUR BODY ua-cam.com/video/AD7xpEApwVI/v-deo.html
Thanks a lot for this video. I love it. Listening to your video now, I can clearly see the things I should have avoided for my back pain. I was in a rear end car accident and had a lot of back pain afterwards. I was diagnosed with withplash and with strain and sprain in my upper back and lower back. I had great pain in my lower back and pelvis and felt like my spine was moving freely without support all over my back. My back felt very very weak. Healing was difficult for me, I had a lot of pain and I was very afraid. But when I started doing small back exercises and stretches, I healed step by step. Spine stretching exercises have been a real help for me. Staying in bed to heal was catastrophic. I added a stronger routine after a while and now I feel beter and I can easily do heavier exercises at the gym.
Sounds like you've had a rough ride, but I'm happy to hear you've been getting back to activities you must have missed quite a lot while injured! Motion is lotion!
omg😮 i was amazed by this Doc, i actually doing what you had said and it’s proven you’re technique are far different from others that i have watched, thank you so much. will share your videos to others who are suffering slipped disc also.
Fabulous information, clear and concise. I hit the stop button to test my range of motion if there’s too much info coming in. Every day I can move a little more. My confidence level is up, pain down. I’m hoping the physio will see the changes on my next visit.❤
I have l5-s1 disc hernia and also anterolisthesis of l5. Should I avoid bending forward and also what do you think about child’s pose in yoga. Should I avoid that too? Thanks!🙏🏼
This is the perfect video for me. I’ve been avoiding pain. My progress has been very slow. I need to approach the areas of necessary pain so I can make more progress. This really changes my mindset.
wow .. I've been digging the rabbit hole since few weeks, and i must say your channel is actually probably the most genuine and effective thing on the internet.. this is super helpful stuff, thanks ❤️🔥

I’m here to help in whatever way I can, and there are a lot more videos full of hope and optimism for healing from severe chronic pain. If you have questions, ask, and I’ll send you videos to help you. I know how much it can suck, but knowledge, support, and a solid plan, it gets better.
I have a bulging disc, and the doctors say it’s serious and may require surgery. However, I don’t feel pain in my back. The pain starts in my buttock and the back of my knee, but only after walking about 30 steps. It’s been 8 months, and not being able to walk has greatly affected my life. The pain is intense, but what confuses physiotherapists is that I only feel it while walking. I can do other movements, like yoga, without any issues. I’ve been trying dry needling and physical therapy, but I’ve only seen very small improvements since the pain began. I still can’t walk without pain. Should I keep doing physical therapy, and how long should I wait before considering other options?
First real Doctor I met concerning BackBone pain, The "cycle of Deconditioning" is really true, I've overcame my disk-slip and lower back weakness,by doing core exercises. Thank you so much for such a great informative video.
I needed this video so bad 😭 I had a bad flare up of sciatica and it got me researching and going down a rabbit hole realizing it meant I have a herniated disc. Both of my parents have been disabled from disc problems. Plus I had been feeling good about myself consistently working out the past year only to realize I guess I wasn’t doing it properly. But I feel so much better after watching this and will definitely watch the video on safe and unsafe pain. I did some stretches yesterday that were so painful to the sciatica my 9 year old son said he was going to call 911 😭 so, again, thank you so much for this info and just some peace of mind because I was spiraling yesterday.
When doctor said sciatica, i was scared i was just 28 and then the pain worsen, but it was psychological thing. True, yesterday in your video said it can heal itself, i started thinking it will and it reduced some pain (not completely)
While this is encouraging, I have to admit I'd drink vinegar and eat lard if it helped the awful pain! But thanks for this and I wilkl look into it. Seeing a Spine Care specialist this month. Thanks for your helpful info!

I hundred percent agree with him i had a wicked back pain a few years ago and it got worse with rest and doing nothing but when i started working out it gradually healed. Specially Moderate and accurate deadlifts made a significant amount of improvement!
Resting is very painful , I like working on small projects , I have to take pain medication, but moving does help , I take very little pain medication by the way but what elce can you do ?
I never had pain only weakness in legs. I went in for a nerve conduction test and I have had constant back pain for 8 months despite physical therapy. Anybody go from no back pain to terrible back pain after an EMG?
Hi, I have been to the hospital three times and I suffer from a lot of back pain. Two out of the three times were due to climbing. At one point, my back made a clicking sound and then there was a lot of pain and I couldn't move. In the hospital, moving me was the worst pain in my life, but if i dont move i didnt feel pain only preasure, My question is, do I need to stop climbing? Is it good to use something to press my core when I do sports? Are there any exercises to prevent this from happening again?
This is the type of very specific circumstance that can only be answered with a consultation. Generic answer is that for most of my clients with chronic back pain, we are able to work towards being able to do the things they love safely. It's how we get there that matters.

So sir its a bad condition every doctor are giving an advice to do surgery..what should i do pls tell me.. i dont want to do it.. help me out to take right decision.. i am in severe pain
I have a disc herniation, and the pain is getting much better. But the pain now has turned into a sleeping leg feeling down the sciatic area. It starts at my right butt cheek, then everything along the trail below feel very asleep. Like a painful askew feeling. That happens even from just walking. I’ve been trying to ignore it and do some walking, but I’m not sure if I’m doing damage? I don’t have pain in my lower back. I haven’t really had any. But my sciatic nerve and all the way down to my foot and toes is where the problem is still occurring right now. Any advice?
Understanding the nature of pain, and what is "safe pain" vs. unsafe pain" is one of the most important things in rehab. Watch the masterclass for a full breakdown! www.shapeshiftwellness.com/LBP-masterclass
In 30 mins of watching your videos i have a much clearer understading of my siatica and what to watch for in under doing and overdoing. I really hate the F******* stretching, movements are more helpful for me i found the pain going to the lower back than down the leg with upper body movement than stretching. Thanks for the advice and straight to the point approach.😁👍
I get the keep moving but. Im a contractor moving is my life. I messed up my back 2 months ago the pain was so bad I had no strangth to sit up so sharp having to walk leaning to the side. Holding my breath to even try and squat. So sharp and stinging and burning. No core strength laying down just a little wiggling send sharp.pain. Had injections and it really helped. What to do to help prevent this.
I’ll be honest here, manual labor jobs are tough to work around here, because in these cases there’s no chance for recovery between periods of physical exertion. Like if I gave a patient an exercise plan I could have them do heavy exercise every other day and rest and recovery and rebuild their muscles etc. In between. Can’t do that with manual labor jobs, so rehab gets really tricky. Somehow we always need to “calm stuff down, then build stuff back up.”
Your video seem pretty close to true what I’d like to know is I have a C5 and six bulging and it’s affecting my swallowing should I just ignore it and let the bulging heal or should I have a Cortizone shot to reduce the bulge to help the swelling?
I loved the concept of Centralization but what if I do a programme of gym exercise and in the time my sciatica decrease but my low back increase ? Is it valid throught the time?
Really really appreciate this perspective. A few questions if and when you have time to respond. How do you assess pain on a scale .which model /test do you prefer using ?
Glad it helped! Pain is very unique to each person. I usually assess pain in terms of severity (scale of 1-10), but also function (what activities can you do, what can you NOT do).
I slip from stair and had pain in my back...every one scared me if might be disc i did x ray its normal so everyone start telling you have still pain you might have disc you have to do the mri...every thing makes me stressed i dont know what is happening...i can't stand for long my back start paining i rest all day but still my pain is not going anywhere 😢...when i walk and do some light work at home at night it get worse i can't walk much now..it is the pain killing me

Please tell me they heal. I’m at my wit’s end. Please.
I am a Physical Therapist and I accept this message! Keep up the great work. Gives me Bill Nye vibes!
The highest of compliments 🧬 👨⚕️
Extremely meaningful video. I understand better as I have lower back pain for the last 30 years
wow, how did you manage to live like that for 30 years?
I'm so glad it helped! That's a long time to be dealing with that! If you haven't watched the masterclass, it's a deep dive into the research and best management of low back pain. Here's the link: www.shapeshiftwellness.com/LBP-masterclass
This video should help: HOW LOW BACK PAIN WRECKS YOUR BODY

Thanks I’m really happy it helped!
Fabulous information, clear and concise.
I hit the stop button to test my range of motion if there’s too much info coming in. Every day I can move a little more. My confidence level is up, pain down. I’m hoping the physio will see the changes on my next visit.❤
Glad it was helpful!
I have l5-s1 disc hernia and also anterolisthesis of l5. Should I avoid bending forward and also what do you think about child’s pose in yoga. Should I avoid that too? Thanks!🙏🏼
Can you please explain hypermobility in lumber spine and how to manage
Great job, videography, content, and helpful! Loved every minute of your animation and enthusiasm. I’ll remember this and it will help.
Thanks a ton! Glad it helped!
Please advise something for cervical?
This is the perfect video for me. I’ve been avoiding pain. My progress has been very slow. I need to approach the areas of necessary pain so I can make more progress. This really changes my mindset.
Nice work, dude! Keep it up!
there is lot of bs here ( as well as irl ) about slip disk related things, you're the real one, this actually really helpful advice
I needed this video. Great work!!!
Glad it was helpful!
wow .. I've been digging the rabbit hole since few weeks, and i must say your channel is actually probably the most genuine and effective thing on the internet..
this is super helpful stuff, thanks ❤️🔥
Wow, thank you! Glad it’s helping. We put a LOT of work into our content and research to make it accurate and evidence based!
Very clear explanation! Thank you very much. There is even a recap, wonderful, indeed. Wish that Chinese is among the cc auto translate.
Thanks I’m happy it helped! 🙌
What a man. Has given me big hope. Thanks. Thanks
I had lumber descompression 18 months ,never heal alot of pain hurts like a sharp pain accross my lower pack , will l ever get better. I am doing alot of exerises never should l have had sergery, what do you think .thank you so much.
I needed these videos. I honestly had been getting severely depressed to the point of, well, I'm not going to outright say it. Thank you for this!
Good info, thank you!
First real Doctor I met concerning BackBone pain, The "cycle of Deconditioning" is really true, I've overcame my disk-slip and lower back weakness,by doing core exercises. Thank you so much for such a great informative video.
Glad it helped! Best thing we can do for chronic pain is focus on slow and progressive strength and function!
Hyyy i m impressed by the information you shared. Thanks dr
Glad it helped!
Super helpful. Thank you!
Hey I m 35, mother of 2 kids ihave been dealing with this since years it was ok but this year it became worse L5 S1, I can't do much work, but still ok during the day but it gets worse in night I can't sleep on my back on my stomach even on my sides without pain I m help what should I do, consulted so many doctors but still same😢
Thank you doc😊
I wish I could you on my third month of this pain , it’s so depressing thinking that you won’t recover , to give me hope
There's a LOT of hope to be had! Explore this channel more and see that the research paints a VERY hopeful picture for recovery.
My name is also Patricia and your comments are identical to my present situation. Comfort is knowing we are not alone in this horrible pain.
However this video has given me some comfort and hope. Good luck.😢
Thank you for your HOPE!!❤

Excellent video and content.
7 monyhs. My back pain comes and goes in the SI joint area and I have a labrum tear but what's getting worse is the calf tightness and foot numbness. I have no clue what makes it worse I walk.. could the cause of my calf tightness and footing on this conference something else
I hundred percent agree with him i had a wicked back pain a few years ago and it got worse with rest and doing nothing but when i started working out it gradually healed. Specially Moderate and accurate deadlifts made a significant amount of improvement!
This is great. I'm having a similar problem with my SI joint on the right side. Does this same logic apply?
Same logic applies to most cases of back pain.
I have herniated disc and I did that exercise with my physiotherapistand was lost money and no results. So I don’t know what to do any more
Great info
Do you have any videos about bulging cervical discs? I only seem to find low back pain and sciatica videos in your list.
The lumber back support is very helpful too
Nice video! The skeleton looks like me with my scoliosis, lordosis also, 4 herniated discs, anterolisthesis, stenosis at 2 levels.....
That's hard. How are you surviving and what are your pain levels currently?
@@shubhamarora8655 taking tramadol.. it's tolerable now but at times it can be severe
From experience I can say that this guys knows what hes talking about.
Is walking good? I find the 10/10 pain I face every morning goes away if I just walk around and do some equating and pelvic thrusts
Yes man, walk every day.
So the McGill method of core bracing for daily life and avoiding flexion is...incomplete?🤔😮
I thought the mcgill method was the latest most comprehensive method at the moment, it's all very confusing
Can you run with a herniated or bulging disc?
Thnk u so so much .. U made me fearles from this vdo. I m very happy to watch ur vds.. Thnk u soooooo much. Pls tel us wat r the comman medications n wat els we can do to heal it faster.. Does this problm come back in pregnancy or aftr prefnacy Or in our old age if we get it once
What about svustic foot tingling and drop. Why id it getting worse agter 4 mths. I walk an hour daily. I gave up on pt because im getting weaker not stronger
What should I do if my pain went from my thighs to just only to my calf and it's just there even after doing exercises it doesn't even move. Please help
Thanks Doctor it worked Thanks
My problem has been driving for too many hours. Lack of movement and lack of strength. then fear.
So for example, homesteading, as much as it is hard and tasking, it is one of the best ways to rejuvenate joints and spine (motion is lotion)? Medium load and constant motion.
I love walkimg however pay for with awful pain & have to lie down all evening/ next day. Will it ever end?
Im on strength training but why my back back worst going down to the leg but pt said its ok.should i listen to her or should i listen to my body.im in a lot of pain after the work out.i have to take pain meds.i just dont what to do.i was told thats the treatment for sciatica

Can you drive a motor bike, or a car (4 wheeler) with a disc herniation or a disc buldge?
The more you think about the pain - the more you feel it and do less to heal it. I realized I was doing this and until I watched this video, I never heard of the word Catastrophizing. But that's what I was doing to myself.
This video confirmed what I suspected about my pain - and gave me the info I was looking for. Thank you!
This video breaks down catastrophizing: ua-cam.com/video/7MWEIp9TGvU/v-deo.html

Hellp is not getting any better bt just worse n pain is unbearable wen move leg. Ps I have no back pain
What about spondylosis?
Good information
Difuse disc bulge at L4 L5 and L5 S1 level with annual tear and left paramidline disc herniation effacing anterior thecal sac and encroaching into the bilateral neural foramina and lateral racess more towards left side , the spinal cannal is significantly narrowed at L4 L5 level measuring 2.9 mm in AP diameter, mild spinal canal stenosis at L5 S1 level measuring 8.8 mm in AP diameter..
So sir its a bad condition every doctor are giving an advice to do surgery..what should i do pls tell me.. i dont want to do it.. help me out to take right decision.. i am in severe pain
Hi sir! can I get your online services please?
Can you recommented for cervical disc herniation ?
Bingo! Movement is medicine. Strength is key, stretching is low value. Reach out if you want more guidance!
Do you have any videos on radiculopathy of L5/S1?
Brilliant video
Why thank you!
Phenomenal delivery
Thanks a ton! 🙏
@@ShapeshiftWellness right back at ya!
