Waymo definitely didn't like those people standing too close while they talked with you! But overall, it handled the narrow alleys and the wandering pedestrians pretty well.
This is a possibility. I think the front lidar may be able to see around the truck. In that case I would guess the Waymo is also waiting for the oncoming car to pass, and it wants to wait outside of the intersection.
Why is the turning signal sound on in the vehicle? That's only necessary if a driver were present. Airplanes don't play cockpit annunciations, chimes, bells, etc., in the passenger cabin. (This situation is more like being in the cockpit but you're still a passenger) Do you like that sound?
Sometimes a driver does need to manually take over these vehicles, there’s one that I know of on Kevin’s channel where this happened. Regardless, it seems like they’re only making modifications needed to get these cars working and interacting with customers first, comfort tweaks maybe later?
This is not AI taxi. Current technology is not there yet. it is just driverless car with all sensors and cameras. What is happening is that it is monitored by someone at Waymo.
Great torture test 🔥 loving the LA tour content

i think the slowness at 11:00 might be explained by the obstructing truck to make sure there wasn't any peds crossing from the right.

the way ai drives the car is making my brain itchy. it feels like a rookie is driving the car and scared of everything smh
