I love Heartland. I have watched it for two and a half years now and never tire of it. Amber and Graham are spectacular in their roles as Amy and Ty. This scene from episode four of season eight breaks my heart. Truthfully, Amy deserved to lose Ty over her failure to be truthful with Ty about why she fled France and came home. Graham's acting in this scene ripped my heart out.
I can't listen to "Say Something" without thinking of this scene. Easily the saddest of the series! So well done by both actors, and the post production crew as well. Absolutely beautiful and sad at the same time!
Amy got what she deserved, she knew kissed her and she should have told Ty as soon as she got back.but her guilt was more she turned away from his kiss 3 times. Ty is the one who was deeply hurt by this break decision. Ty seen Amy had strayed from her roots and became infatuated with the high end lifestyle.
This is so sad to watch, I can feel Ty’s pain in thinking that Amy is not the same as she was before she left with the prince.Why does she want him to see the video to rub salt in his wounds or to let him see what her life can be like if she stays with Ahmed. Either way Ty is right in creating space between them so she can decide what kind of lifestyle she prefers. He doesn’t want to stand in her way, even though he loves her.
It's obvious when Amy showed to Ty that there was nothing in the video and just by looking at it people can only misinterpret it. She made it clear again and again that she backed off and told Ahmed she was in love with Ty..... What more can she say?.... I don't blame Ty for breaking up with her bcoz that's what anyone in his shoes would do at that time. Even if it was Amy. This happens in love.... Amy and Ty did a great job in overcoming every attractions in their life and it is bcoz of the love they had for each other. ☺

Amy would have Never quit working for Ahmed, she would have continued to except the gifts, travel and those secret kisses from Ahmed... odds are the Big House as well. remember, Amy quit working with Ahmed only because Georgie spoke up about the video and Amy was afraid Ty would find out the truth about Amy and Ahmed's "working" relationship... know one will ever know what really happened in Europe between Amy and Ahmed.... You sure as hell cannot take Amy's word after the fact. If it wasn't for Georgie, Amy would still be with Ahmed and all the perks that Ahmed would provide. and Amy would have let those perks destroy Ty.
I remember that he did the same thing to Amy with Blair. When she found out at the end of the episode Amy was crying when she was riding Dexter It made me cry
No ty pushed Blair away and sent her packing. Amy encouraged Ahmed and continued on with him.amy lied to Lou and Mallory she said "Lou Ty kiss her" no he didn't Blair kissed him.
Just found out about this series almost a month ago. This is the episode I really felt for Ty. I thought that Amy deserved it. Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for them from the start but Amy really hurt Ty.
She never even tell him how really sorry she was .for what she did or did not do.she waa very wrong to keep secrets from ty or tell him what took place😊

@@cynthiakoonce3549 I think Amy fell for Ahmed before the accident and was secretly in love with him by the end of the tour. Remember, she didn't just travel alone with Ahmed, she emotionally abandoned Ty and their relationship. If Amy told Ty about the kiss he would have put two-and-two together and dumped her for good. She didn't want that to happen because she had not made a decision on whether she was going to stay.
I wonder how different season 8 would have been if Mallory from seasons 1 thru 3 of season 1 would have been there. Now that would have been interesting. I think she would have put them in the same room, lock the door and not let them out until they cooled down. And reminded them of what they stood to loose.
@@bobmeyer7472 The difference was Ty's poor decisions were stupid, impulsive, and juvenile and hurt himself; and he took full responsibility for them. Amy's were premeditated, manipulative, selfish, and harmful to Ty, and she took little responsibility till called out.
I was just watching some episodes of season 1 and he really did not take any crap from her! But he was still kind, and fun. Then he just kept getting a little softer through the seasons, putting up with more and more until this firm and resolute break where he "just about had it". Dittos on "go Ty!"
Deren, Amy's cocky attitude was engrained in her. It is the Flemming way of looking at life. Like you are always wrong and the Flemmings are always right. Every season past 5 seemed to not have any direction. The stories are all over the place. This isnt real life. There really are couples that love each other and care about each other. You will never find that watching Heartland.

@@johne5596 He pushed her to train his horse and go on that tour. He had so many lapsed in judgement during this entire series. Not very true to real life. He goes on a three week road trip, comes back 3 months later with a girl on his bike. His temper, lack of good judgement and the inability to learn from his mistakes made his character not so believable in a real life scenario. Tim was another one that just kept walking into closed doors. The horses and scenery were fantastic. I will say that Amber was adorable as a young actress and l would have been smitten in the early series too! 😃
@@bobmeyer7472 he never pushed her to train his horse yes Ty has his faults but this was after they agreed to be open and honest with each other back in season 5 after this break they made the Sam decision again, so can you really blame ty for acting the way he did, like I said he never pushed her she made that decision on her own.
BB, everyone gets angry with Ahmed. All he was doing was following Amy's cues. When he came for dinner I'm sure Tim led him to think there was another chance. Dont be mad at Ahmed, be mad at Amy. She was a two time and had violated Tys trust many many times. She has never changed, have a guy flash some money and excitements and she was gone. AMY SHOULD NEVER BE TRUSTED and Ty should have moved to Calgary years ago.

He provided her with the same type of excitement that Chase gave her. Compared to them Ty was dull. As she got old she flirted with Mitch. It then that Ty was being stupid. He never should have gone back to her in season 8, found a women at University that would love and respect him as much as he did her. Yes, this is a fairy tale but there are women out there just like Amy. When Ty left the barn in s8e4 he was done. With the information he had Amy and Ahmed had been having an affair all the way back to the saddle. She never told him she was wrong or sorry. To me this is not a strong independent woman. Strength doesn't come wrapped in self interest alone. Amy showed that she was as much a snake as Chase was. And that same snake appeared when she lied to and deceived Ty. And once again Ty showed he was a glutton for punishment. This was the time to leave Amy and Heartland and never looked back.
I watch this scene quite a few times and every time I cry like a baby. I love watching Ty and Amy can't wait for Season 14. As long as they don't kill those Amber and Graham. And why was Graham away so often. I miss him when he is not playing with Amber. Thank you
Hi... I totally agree with you. Why Ty gone away too much? I think he is doing some thing else...another show/movie? I really miss him a lot. The show isn't the same without they both together. And about this breakup... It's was very sad, but the scene was amazing....they made me cry...He was so intense.
In this type of story, everyone already know's Ty and Amy will work thing's out. Writer's of great show's know how to make us want to cry or laugh. I had to laugh about this episode. But I feel bad for Georgie. She alone got the raw deal. Such a good story of growth and survival of young kid's.
Dude I just watched that episode yesterday I was so sad but also mad that Prince Ahmed ruined Ty and Amy's relationship he knew Amy was engaged but didn't care if he hurt Ty.
@@margemacdonald6921 for me it was one of the best. Ty hadn't held Amy accountable for any of her actions. It was time to tear the relationship down and then rebuild to refocus. Ty and Amy can do that. Lou just would have very loudly thrown peter out and filed for divorce that day even with it being her fault. The Flemming way is to be loose with other's feelings, always play the victim and then blame others for how the Flemmings behaved. The thing is after they get back together nothing changes.
I remember wondering several times why Ty even _liked_ Amy to begin with. Through pretty much the whole show she's a spoiled brat who gets whatever she wants and does whatever she likes, hurting others (usually Ty) in the process, without any consequences. She overreacted to Ty's ex-girlfriend showing up uninvited-but then she goes off to a different continent with Ahmed, has a whole little _thing_ with him, and comes back expecting everything to be okay. When Ty says they aren't okay, she has the audacity to say, "No, we _are_ okay." He was right to leave, and honestly, part of me wants to say he shouldn't have gone back, because ultimately that was just Amy getting her way again. This trope has happened repeatedly with these two. I feel bad for Ty. She's was really just very immature and annoying, and was rarely held accountable. I loved the show, but she was always my least favorite of the characters, even if Ty loved her to the moon and back. I loved that he did stand up for himself here.

It sure was. I look back at everything Ty went through up to that point. Amy put their relationship on hold, cut him off for four months while she traveled alone with a single man, kept an emotional distance when she returned, accepted outrageous gifts from Ahmed, and started arguments. In less than a minute, he discovers Ahmed is in love with his fiance, and Georgie and Lou know he was trying to steal Amy (but didn't tell him). Next, he learns that the necklace Amy wore at dinner was from Ahmed, not the team. And lastly, Amy's Freudian slip about her relationship with Ahmed. The final kick in the gut was learning about a video the next day, watching Ahmed kiss his fiance while wearing a short dress and sitting as close as lovers. That would have ended it for me and probably 99% of the male population.
The relationship was not headed in a good direction before Breakup. This HAD to happen. They needed to have a break to tear the relationship down to the very core of what made them THEM and then rebuild it stronger than before. Before Ty was Amy's puppy, always loyal and always there when she called. Amy needed to know that she would need to work at their her relationship for it to go forward and not take him for granted. It was a GOOD move. The seasons after prove that out.
Thomas,, a think people miss the mark on this. Amy lost Ty not the other way around. When he called for a break he was totally done. For years Amy had taken Ty for granted, thinking he was more like a loyal dog and a soon to be husband and he was done. Had the full not happened he would have left and never look back. And I would be cheering him on. Amy hurt Ty more than all the times before added together. At the time he called for the break he felt that Amy had been having an affair with Ahmed all the way back to the saddle. To him it didn't matter if they got back together. Yes he proposed a second time but the break was on her. Not only did he take HER back he did that without her ever acknowledging how much she hurt him. To me,taking her back was a huge mistake.
@@larryhigginson3549 you are right. Ty shouldn't have just "taken a break". He should have annulled their engagement in front of the ranch house right after he finished with Ahmed guy. He should have done it in the presence of Jack, Tim, and Lou. He didn't and later on took her back. That was a huge, terrible mistake. He paid with his life ultimately, protecting her, who destroyed his life several times over.
@Larry Higgins on Exactly. Amy's whole character operates on a set of double standards and rules for everyone else that don't apply to her personally. She threw a fit when Ty's ex showed up, but she was comfortable enough with Ahmed to go on long private rides, long tours, parties, etc. Then of course the presents, and how close she got with him personally. As someone pointed out, it took Georgie finding out what was going on to bring everything to a close. She's been taking Ty for granted since season one, and I agree: he shouldn't have gone back. No matter how much he loved her, it wasn't a healthy relationship.
@@larryhigginson3549 I think if Ty had found someone else during that break, and there had been a few episodes of Amy desperately trying to get him back, then he would have ended up marrying someone else, and the Flemmings would have become a side show, the series could have been rebuilt around Ty and a lady who really appreciated him, the series could have continued and flourished, indicating that Ty, not Amy was the real draw of the series.
This was LONG overdue and Ty was too far too nice. I would have grilled her on the whole Ahmed Thing. No guy in his right mind would put up with some rich guy buying his girl gifts. I would have dumped her right before she got on the helicopter. Or, I would have ghosted her for a few days after she returned, and then dumped her.
I felt like Amy's life collapse, I cried just like a baby. they both did a great job acting, actually too good, it hurt so much and so real. When the music started and Amy watch Ty leave real deep hurt.

She has never recovered from this Episode even through 13. Amber was in a interview and she saw script and said I'm going to hated. Yep. TY was not perfect but wow he was a better man than I would been.
You make a very eye opening comment regarding Amber and the season 8 script. Based on what you said, it appears that Amber recognized that as the script was originally laid out, what Amy did to Ty during the "Ahmed Thing" was worthy of her being hated by viewers. That is amazing. It might also be the closest thing we will ever get to having Amy / Amber actually admit what she did with Ahmed was wrong and a betrayal of Ty's trust and love. It is hard to imagine, however, why Amber would accept having her characters image damaged so badly if she didnt agree with what was being done. Note: I wonder if that interview and comment was intentionally done. Did HL want to tear down Amys character? As you know in the season 8 post season interview Amber told HL fans that "she knew they were upset / angry with her" for what she did to Ty that season. However, she basically went on to say that she didnt care. She did that by very strongly defending Amys actions by saying "Amy needed to do this so that she would know what she really wanted in life". That didnt sound like she was all that concerned that her fans would start to hate her character. To me it sounded like she completely supported that part of the script. I have always speculated that the reason Amber did this was because it might have reflected a decision that she had to make in her real live. As we all know, the HL storyline very often mirrors Ambers real life and personality. I believe this is one of those areas where it did.
@@outsideview9052 I saw that interview and your spot on. That interview was the pre showing of season 8. The article I saw was the filming of season 8 at a pre script reading. The comments and postings during season 8 where the highest in its history. I have friend that works for a Social media analytical company and he is a HL fan. He said Ty character comments were through the roof in support and 1/2 of Amy Charactors fan base finally had enough of her ways. He said the writers had no idea the damage they did to her character. Bottom line no matter how much they wrote scenes to fix it the damage was done. After season 8 they tried again in season 9 episode 1 at the end to have Amy Charactor admitted she had not been honest. Still did not help Amy's charactor at all. He said it got worse and alot of fans just quit believing anything her character would say. This guy that does these analytical reports on socail media said when writers get these reports it's not good. He also does reports for cable streaming media. He said out of all Seasons in HL STREAMING season 8 episodes 1 - 6 get passed over the most in the Netflix Streaming. People just get pissed at her character. He said everybody analytical world was watching the pre screening interview of season 8 and said Amber blew it getting all defensive. Graham did not hardly say anything during that post interview. Analytical friend said Amber still has a fan base but she lost a 1/3 and he said that is huge in the TV series world.

That helps so many fans who hate what the producers did to Amys character during this season feel better knowing that a lot of other viewers felt the same way. Your comment that HL was well aware of how negative season 8 was being recieved by a "preseason preview audience" ( I didnt know TV series previewed an entire season like that) and that the producers might have tried to fix it by editing some things out and or by changing some dialogue to try and reduce the seriousness of her actions, was again a real eye opening revelation to me. If I have misinterpreted what you said please let me know. This new information / action taken by the producers makes we wonder what might have been changed vs the original script. As I have suggested before, maybe after Ty told Amy that "he couldnt get her to give him a straight answer about anything while she was gone (not their marriage plans or their plans to buy the ranch)"; maybe he did originally go on to ask her "Do you even still want to marry me anymore?" As Lou did to Peter, her only possible answer would have been an awkward silence meaning that she didnt, or that she now had such strong doubts that she no longer knew herself what she wanted. Everyone should know that this accurately reflects the storyline of the show. However, if it would have been laid out this clearly in this scene or somewhere else in the script, I think it would have made things even worse for Amys image. With regard to that preseason preview, wouldnt it be great if people who participated in that preshowing and who gave feedback on it would come forward and tell us what might have changed when the season was actually broadcast. We all might be surprised. They might have signed a confidentiality agreement not to do that but I certainly wish that anyone who did would post their thoughts about it someway. In any case, it is absolutely true that Amys character "never recovered" from her blatantly dishonest and disrespectful actions against Ty with Ahmed during this season. Her credibility as a fiance and a woman in a relationship was effectively destroyed by these actions. . As for seaon 9 and later, I also saw how the producers made a concerted effort to try and fix the damage they had caused to Amys character. I remember that scene where Amy says to Ty something like: "you know all of those problems that we had about Ahmed (I am sure Ty appreciated her rubbing his nose in that issue again), well the reason that happened is because I was not always completely upfront with you From now on lets "both" commit to always tell each other the truth". This pathetically weak effort in admitting what she had done , especially since it came after Ty had already forgiven her and taken her back, actually made things worse. First , she minimizes the seriousness of what she did and then she goes on to force Ty to join her in the committment to "always tell each other the truth". That makes it sound like she still feels that he was partly responsible for what happened. I expect that is a reference back o Ty not telling her that he and Caleb had bought Charger in the hope that he could pay for his share of the ranch and not depend on her for money. Her over reaction to that issue was ridiculous. I think she just used it as an excuse to try and delay or end their engagement altogether. In any case, as you said this scene did not help Amys character at all. If anything, it caused more damage by reinforcing how insincere Amys words and feelings always were toward Ty. It also provided yet another example of her refusing to take personal responsibility for her actions without spreading some of the blame to others. Here it was "not telling each other the truth". With Chase it was both of them " being attracted to other people" . In both cases it was Amy who was by far the person most at fault for the problem they faced. I guess from that perspective, at least the producers have been consistent. Thanks again for the detailed industry information from your friend and for sharing the background of the HL interviews that you have seen. I cant / dont watch this show anymore. With Ty gone, there is simply no one left to root for. I am somewhat curious how long Amber will continue to produce this series. Will she ever just get tired of playing Amy Fleming and decide to stop? Somehow I doubt that given that she has no acting future outside of HL and her whole identity is wrapped up in actually being Amy Fleming.

I think spin off with Lyndy driving up in Her dad's truck and start it over again. It's loose loose the day Writers have Amy Charactor move forward with a 2nd relationship with another man. They were sitting as close as lovers (they couldn't sit closer if they tried). Ahmed and Amy were a couple when the tour ended. Two people don't sit that close unless you're in love. Most guys would have dumped Amy right before she got on the helicopter.

This scene is a heart breaker it's this moment that I think Amy realized that she really messed up and had taken Her and Ty relationship for granted and at this point it could be lost and she has to find her way back
I love the series, but what is this. The 3rd or 4th time they take a break (and for the same reason)? They do handle things more mature by now, but you would think Amy would learn her lesson by now.
Say Something, by A Great Big World, was the perfect song for this scene. The opening notes are somber and almost haunting, reflecting the long and painful six-month journey Amy put Ty through.
Dont forget the next words of the song. Say Somthing :"I am Giving Up On You". The words of this song explained what was happening in this scene better than the script did.
I think this scene proves that "The Kiss" didn't influence Ty's decision to take a break. Ty had already decided to end things beforehand. When Georgie told him about the video, it was just another dagger to the heart. Ty knew Amy was keen on Ahmed long before she abandoned him. Most men, including myself, would have ended the relationship when Amy decided to go on tour. Someone asked in another post, "what kind of fiancée runs off to Europe on her own for five months, loses touch with her husband-to-be, and thinks that is AOK." There is more to the Amy and Ahmed story that has yet to be told. SPOILER ALRT: After a reminder of the Miricle Girl appeared in season 16, there is a possibility we may see Ahmed coming back into Amy's life again.
Sincerely hope not, don’t like that little conniving, entitled Prince, he’ll will rule and control her like a possession and her passion to help injured, abused and train horses as gifted “horse Whisper” will take far back seat to the luxurious life style “Princess Amy” Ty said she had changed after 4-months of being alone on tour.. seems Amy is easily manipulated and gullible when it comes to men like Chase and that Prince who both had disingenuous motives for befriending and hiring for her professional horse services.. it was young Georgie who called her out after seeing video of Ahmed leaning in and kissing Amy.. she was so disappointed and upset, probably knew it was not the first time.. while idolizing Amy as her horse mentor and accomplishment to tour with Prince and his world class Equestrian team with fineness of horses 🐴 🐴🐴 Amy probably returned Alberta on Ahmed’s private airplane, arriving early to Heartland in Limo early and no one at ranch to welcome her home🤔 didn’t let Jack, Lou, Tim, Georgie, Ty and rest know of schedule change, they happily waited at airport for her arrival, probably an Ahmed move.. Ty said she was this different person, it was like Ahmed had groomed her for the taking, future plans for his big move when tells her “I am in love with you” on ground of that big beautiful mansion, this was the Prince next over the top luxury gift and hopefully steal Amy away from love of Ty.. even Lou saw the manipulation of Ahmed and warned Amy to be careful and Ty knew almost from start this Prince motive… glad Ty took the high road after physically🤜🏼 dealing with that conniving little Prince after Georgie told Ahmed only was pretending to be their friends (Bartlett, Fleming…) wanting to steal Amy away from Ty..said “I hate you” then Lou read him his rights, that he had disrespected Ty and Amy’s relationship, meaning he had cross the line, as Amy was Ty’s fiancé to be married..Jack basically took little mf by collar order off Heartland.. proud of Ty to say “we need a break” he loves her, she is the love of his life, but he realizes she has changed and seen another side of life filled with luxury, finer things and a young sheltered Amy from a mediocre struggling ranch of horses, raising cattle in small town was given a rare opportunity to use her gift with horses, but owners were the elite super rich versus wild horses, injured, abused horses, sick and abandoned herd of horses like her mother Marion who did trying to save now Amy’s beloved horse Spartan.. Amy and Ty’s committed relationship stated when she was only 14-15 y/o and at the point of their “break” she was just being to realize what freedom to explore and enjoy other aspects of living.. remember she said “I feel, I don’t know this place” meaning Heartland and in 4-months.. Ahmed might have exposed her to a different lifestyle, but all that materialistic stuff that can be bought is not What Love is..now Amy’s husband Ty Borden has passed away, Ahmed is no Ty Borden and unless new script for is written along lines of Graham Gordon don’t bring Prince Ahmed back to series, not the one for Amy, like the character
@@lynnnewton3876 One thing I have learned about Heartland is their producers and writers are master storytellers, and nothing that appears on this show is there by accident. There were several hints of Amy falling for Ahmed starting in episode 7x09, There But for Fortune. I was shocked that Amy kept that damn saddle (a horrible reminder of the pain she inflicted on Ty) and that she spoke fondly of Ahmed in season 16. I think the show has gone downhill and probably won't renew. If they bring Ahmed back, it may be for ratings. Who knows.

Graham ( Ty ) was always there for Amber ( Amy ) when it was needed to protect her or defend her, he loved her with every breath that he took. Heartland will be Heartless without Graham ( Ty ). Don't think l would be watching S15.
Amy Change when she came back from Europe.. Amy lied to ty... And I was Very upset with this episode... Ty was suppose to break up with her.. Amy again let another man kiss her.. She did the same thing with chase... So, my trust that I had of Amy!!! Went out the window... I believe Amy was having and affair with the prince... And when Amy started to come to herself and Realize the error of her ways then Ty took her back... 💘 Heartland.. But the writers Need to be fair with these Relationships on the show.. And Not sooo one sided.. When Lou and Amy cheats the men have to beg them for forgiveness.. When it should be the sisters who should be saying their are Sorry!!! IJS...

Still asking the question , Who is this song directed at? Amy or Ty? It is hard to say that Ty initially is "swallowing his pride" because he just stood up to Amy. However, he does seem to be the person who is asking Amy to "say someting, I am giving up on you". In the end, Amy stays silent not only at this moment but basically all the way until Ty eventually does swallow his pride and takes her back. The music is one of the best parts of Heartland.
Graham really brought the best acting out of Amber, and if you doubt this all you have to do is watch seasons 15-16 and 17 episodes 1 and 2, there is no doubt her acting has gone downhill since Graham's departure, I didn't mention season 14 because I thought Amber's acting in the aftermath of Ty's death was fantastic and spot on of how someone would cope with losing their soul mate, but since she has regressed to almost boring and unwatchable as is the show now.
One of Amber’s best performances is in the scene where Lou confronts Amy with the Ahmed kiss video. Amy gives the most common knee-jerk responses cheaters give when they’re caught red-handed: denial, blaming, gaslighting, and deflecting blame. Amy said, "It’s not what it looks like, Nothing happened, They gave me a necklace, I said thank you, and It happened that fast." Then she blames the jerk who recorded the video. Amber's acting was so convincing that fans were certain she was telling the truth.
I don't think that see acted like an engaged woman in the scene where they were sitting facing each other. I think that would have been a big warning sign for me. Don't think a time out would have worked for me.😔
She 100% deserved this. When is this girl going to learn to just be honest. And why does she keep listening to lou telling her to hide things.. While all ty asks for is honesty and trust. The whole ahmed thing wouldn't have mattered if she had just told him.
I sure do agree. And at the same time, look at the growth by the character Ty! He is a smart and brave guy that makes good life choices more often as he grows. Great script writing for the 125th episode. I my eyes it is really Caleb that is a really true and honest man from the very start. Imperfect great young man.
Quote: Ty said "I dont even know what to say to you right now". Then later after Amy said "nothing happened , nothing happened" Ty yelled out in return " I dont care what happened, I dont care what happened"! Question: who in their right mind interpreted this statement to mean that Ty didnt care if Amy had slept with Ahmed or possibly even had a full blown sexual affair with him during the time they were in Europe together?. I mean, lets admit it, at this point he certainly had good reason to think that Amy had cheated on him at least once with Ahmed. Instead, the script implys that he was actually more upset because Amy wasnt honest or "trusted" him enough to tell him about what had happened. This interpretation seems so unrealistic. However, the producers have shown Ty doing similarly unrealistic things before (proposing marriage again after being turned down only a few months prior) so this could very well be what they had intended to convey. To me Tys response represents not so much a lack of trust to confide in him but rather a serious lack of trust for her not to betray and cheat on him anymore. That is why he went on to say, "I think I have about had it" with your secrets and lies. I am giving up on you (accordig to the song that played) . Later in the barn scene Ty moves on to discuss how Amy had changed so much that "he didnt know her anymore". I guess the implication was that Ty was telling Amy that he didnt want to marry a woman who was seeking professional fame and fortune because that wouldnt be "the same goals and dreams" that they had planned together. He didnt want to be part of that world. Still, telling Amy to chose between him or her carreer is not the type of action that we normally associate with Ty. Truthfully, I expect he is also feeling that Amy does not want to marry him anymore. He wants her to prove her love for him or go be a star with Ahmed in Europe. Finally he is showing a little self respect. As for the breakup, it is hard for me to understand how Amys latest and most damaging betrayal of Ty somehow gets lost in the storyline while the producers are setting up a single purpose of the "break" (getting back to "having the same goals and dreams"). Then based on the actions and nonactions of Amy, this latest infidelity/betrayal is completely forgotten as something that never needs to be resolved or thought about again. That just astounds me and is so unrealistic. No man would accept that. Did anyone really interpret this scene and episode this way when they first saw it?
Amy didn't cry because she wasn't that heartbroken when Ty slammed the brakes on their relationship. She took off with Ahmed and made no attempt to maintain her relationship with Ty. She rarely called Ty because she didn't care. She allowed Ahmed to kiss her and she was really into it. She comes back and shows Ty no affection, accepts expensive gifts and refuses to cut Ahmed off until she is at risk of getting caught. Ahmed professes his love and she convincingly pushes back. So everyone thought it was over between Amy and Ahmed. Oh, but wait! Amy continued to wear diamonds from a man who still wants to marry her (even though she pushed back). Despite all her denials, only a woman in love with someone other than her fiance would put her engagement at risk. When writers and producers had Amy wear the necklace at dinner, the intent was to reveal that Amy was secretly in love with Ahmed all along, hence, no tears.
I loved Mallory in Heartland : At first she was a little annoying but she grew on me : I think she’s a great actress : She leaves Heartland but comes back again for a couplr of episodes - I think , Graham is my favorite : I wish that I could get the opportunity to meet him : That would be awesome ::

I love Heartland. I have watched it for two and a half years now and never tire of it. Amber and Graham are spectacular in their roles as Amy and Ty. This scene from episode four of season eight breaks my heart. Truthfully, Amy deserved to lose Ty over her failure to be truthful with Ty about why she fled France and came home. Graham's acting in this scene ripped my heart out.

This is so sad to watch, I can feel Ty’s pain in thinking that Amy is not the same as she was before she left with the prince.Why does she want him to see the video to rub salt in his wounds or to let him see what her life can be like if she stays with Ahmed. Either way Ty is right in creating space between them so she can decide what kind of lifestyle she prefers. He doesn’t want to stand in her way, even though he loves her.
She showed him the video thinking that he would understand, she was trying to justify the situation because Ahmad is the one who initiated the kiss.
It's obvious when Amy showed to Ty that there was nothing in the video and just by looking at it people can only misinterpret it. She made it clear again and again that she backed off and told Ahmed she was in love with Ty..... What more can she say?.... I don't blame Ty for breaking up with her bcoz that's what anyone in his shoes would do at that time. Even if it was Amy. This happens in love.... Amy and Ty did a great job in overcoming every attractions in their life and it is bcoz of the love they had for each other. ☺

Just found out about this series almost a month ago. This is the episode I really felt for Ty. I thought that Amy deserved it. Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for them from the start but Amy really hurt Ty.

Remember, she didn't just travel alone with Ahmed, she emotionally abandoned Ty and their relationship. If Amy told Ty about the kiss he would have put two-and-two together and dumped her for good. She didn't want that to happen because she had not made a decision on whether she was going to stay.
I wonder how different season 8 would have been if Mallory from seasons 1 thru 3 of season 1 would have been there. Now that would have been interesting. I think she would have put them in the same room, lock the door and not let them out until they cooled down. And reminded them of what they stood to loose.

@@johne5596 He pushed her to train his horse and go on that tour. He had so many lapsed in judgement during this entire series. Not very true to real life. He goes on a three week road trip, comes back 3 months later with a girl on his bike. His temper, lack of good judgement and the inability to learn from his mistakes made his character not so believable in a real life scenario. Tim was another one that just kept walking into closed doors. The horses and scenery were fantastic. I will say that Amber was adorable as a young actress and l would have been smitten in the early series too! 😃

He never should have gone back to her in season 8, found a women at University that would love and respect him as much as he did her. Yes, this is a fairy tale but there are women out there just like Amy. When Ty left the barn in s8e4 he was done. With the information he had Amy and Ahmed had been having an affair all the way back to the saddle. She never told him she was wrong or sorry. To me this is not a strong independent woman. Strength doesn't come wrapped in self interest alone. Amy showed that she was as much a snake as Chase was. And that same snake appeared when she lied to and deceived Ty. And once again Ty showed he was a glutton for punishment. This was the time to leave Amy and Heartland and never looked back.

In this type of story, everyone already know's Ty and Amy will work thing's out. Writer's of great show's know how to make us want to cry or laugh. I had to laugh about this episode. But I feel bad for Georgie. She alone got the raw deal. Such a good story of growth and survival of young kid's.

Ty and Amy can do that. Lou just would have very loudly thrown peter out and filed for divorce that day even with it being her fault. The Flemming way is to be loose with other's feelings, always play the victim and then blame others for how the Flemmings behaved.
The thing is after they get back together nothing changes.
I miss these two and the amazing couple the were. Not sure how but hoping Graham comes back to Heartland.

I remember wondering several times why Ty even _liked_ Amy to begin with. Through pretty much the whole show she's a spoiled brat who gets whatever she wants and does whatever she likes, hurting others (usually Ty) in the process, without any consequences. She overreacted to Ty's ex-girlfriend showing up uninvited-but then she goes off to a different continent with Ahmed, has a whole little _thing_ with him, and comes back expecting everything to be okay. When Ty says they aren't okay, she has the audacity to say, "No, we _are_ okay." He was right to leave, and honestly, part of me wants to say he shouldn't have gone back, because ultimately that was just Amy getting her way again. This trope has happened repeatedly with these two. I feel bad for Ty.
She's was really just very immature and annoying, and was rarely held accountable. I loved the show, but she was always my least favorite of the characters, even if Ty loved her to the moon and back. I loved that he did stand up for himself here.

The hardest part for me was after Ty head butts Amed, then Amy tries to touch Ty's arm and he jerks his arm away...THAT moment was powerful 😢
It sure was. I look back at everything Ty went through up to that point. Amy put their relationship on hold, cut him off for four months while she traveled alone with a single man, kept an emotional distance when she returned, accepted outrageous gifts from Ahmed, and started arguments.
In less than a minute, he discovers Ahmed is in love with his fiance, and Georgie and Lou know he was trying to steal Amy (but didn't tell him). Next, he learns that the necklace Amy wore at dinner was from Ahmed, not the team. And lastly, Amy's Freudian slip about her relationship with Ahmed.
The final kick in the gut was learning about a video the next day, watching Ahmed kiss his fiance while wearing a short dress and sitting as close as lovers. That would have ended it for me and probably 99% of the male population.

The relationship was not headed in a good direction before Breakup. This HAD to happen. They needed to have a break to tear the relationship down to the very core of what made them THEM and then rebuild it stronger than before. Before Ty was Amy's puppy, always loyal and always there when she called. Amy needed to know that she would need to work at their her relationship for it to go forward and not take him for granted. It was a GOOD move. The seasons after prove that out.
Thomas,, a think people miss the mark on this. Amy lost Ty not the other way around. When he called for a break he was totally done. For years Amy had taken Ty for granted, thinking he was more like a loyal dog and a soon to be husband and he was done. Had the full not happened he would have left and never look back. And I would be cheering him on. Amy hurt Ty more than all the times before added together. At the time he called for the break he felt that Amy had been having an affair with Ahmed all the way back to the saddle. To him it didn't matter if they got back together. Yes he proposed a second time but the break was on her. Not only did he take HER back he did that without her ever acknowledging how much she hurt him. To me,taking her back was a huge mistake.

He should have done it in the presence of Jack, Tim, and Lou. He didn't and later on took her back. That was a huge, terrible mistake. He paid with his life ultimately, protecting her, who destroyed his life several times over.

Exactly. Amy's whole character operates on a set of double standards and rules for everyone else that don't apply to her personally. She threw a fit when Ty's ex showed up, but she was comfortable enough with Ahmed to go on long private rides, long tours, parties, etc. Then of course the presents, and how close she got with him personally. As someone pointed out, it took Georgie finding out what was going on to bring everything to a close. She's been taking Ty for granted since season one, and I agree: he shouldn't have gone back. No matter how much he loved her, it wasn't a healthy relationship.

She has never recovered from this Episode even through 13. Amber was in a interview and she saw script and said I'm going to hated. Yep. TY was not perfect but wow he was a better man than I would been.
You make a very eye opening comment regarding Amber and the season 8 script. Based on what you said, it appears that Amber recognized that as the script was originally laid out, what Amy did to Ty during the "Ahmed Thing" was worthy of her being hated by viewers. That is amazing. It might also be the closest thing we will ever get to having Amy / Amber actually admit what she did with Ahmed was wrong and a betrayal of Ty's trust and love. It is hard to imagine, however, why Amber would accept having her characters image damaged so badly if she didnt agree with what was being done.
Note: I wonder if that interview and comment was intentionally done. Did HL want to tear down Amys character?
As you know in the season 8 post season interview Amber told HL fans that "she knew they were upset / angry with her" for what she did to Ty that season. However, she basically went on to say that she didnt care. She did that by very strongly defending Amys actions by saying "Amy needed to do this so that she would know what she really wanted in life". That didnt sound like she was all that concerned that her fans would start to hate her character. To me it sounded like she completely supported that part of the script. I have always speculated that the reason Amber did this was because it might have reflected a decision that she had to make in her real live. As we all know, the HL storyline very often mirrors Ambers real life and personality. I believe this is one of those areas where it did.
@@outsideview9052 I saw that interview and your spot on. That interview was the pre showing of season 8. The article I saw was the filming of season 8 at a pre script reading. The comments and postings during season 8 where the highest in its history. I have friend that works for a Social media analytical company and he is a HL fan. He said Ty character comments were through the roof in support and 1/2 of Amy Charactors fan base finally had enough of her ways. He said the writers had no idea the damage they did to her character. Bottom line no matter how much they wrote scenes to fix it the damage was done. After season 8 they tried again in season 9 episode 1 at the end to have Amy Charactor admitted she had not been honest. Still did not help Amy's charactor at all. He said it got worse and alot of fans just quit believing anything her character would say. This guy that does these analytical reports on socail media said when writers get these reports it's not good. He also does reports for cable streaming media. He said out of all Seasons in HL STREAMING season 8 episodes 1 - 6 get passed over the most in the Netflix Streaming. People just get pissed at her character. He said everybody analytical world was watching the pre screening interview of season 8 and said Amber blew it getting all defensive. Graham did not hardly say anything during that post interview. Analytical friend said Amber still has a fan base but she lost a 1/3 and he said that is huge in the TV series world.

That helps so many fans who hate what the producers did to Amys character during this season feel better knowing that a lot of other viewers felt the same way. Your comment that HL was well aware of how negative season 8 was being recieved by a "preseason preview audience" ( I didnt know TV series previewed an entire season like that) and that the producers might have tried to fix it by editing some things out and or by changing some dialogue to try and reduce the seriousness of her actions, was again a real eye opening revelation to me. If I have misinterpreted what you said please let me know.
This new information / action taken by the producers makes we wonder what might have been changed vs the original script. As I have suggested before, maybe after Ty told Amy that "he couldnt get her to give him a straight answer about anything while she was gone (not their marriage plans or their plans to buy the ranch)"; maybe he did originally go on to ask her "Do you even still want to marry me anymore?" As Lou did to Peter, her only possible answer would have been an awkward silence meaning that she didnt, or that she now had such strong doubts that she no longer knew herself what she wanted. Everyone should know that this accurately reflects the storyline of the show. However, if it would have been laid out this clearly in this scene or somewhere else in the script, I think it would have made things even worse for Amys image.
With regard to that preseason preview, wouldnt it be great if people who participated in that preshowing and who gave feedback on it would come forward and tell us what might have changed when the season was actually broadcast. We all might be surprised. They might have signed a confidentiality agreement not to do that but I certainly wish that anyone who did would post their thoughts about it someway.

In any case, it is absolutely true that Amys character "never recovered" from her blatantly dishonest and disrespectful actions against Ty with Ahmed during this season. Her credibility as a fiance and a woman in a relationship was effectively destroyed by these actions. .
As for seaon 9 and later, I also saw how the producers made a concerted effort to try and fix the damage they had caused to Amys character. I remember that scene where Amy says to Ty something like: "you know all of those problems that we had about Ahmed (I am sure Ty appreciated her rubbing his nose in that issue again), well the reason that happened is because I was not always completely upfront with you From now on lets "both" commit to always tell each other the truth". This pathetically weak effort in admitting what she had done , especially since it came after Ty had already forgiven her and taken her back, actually made things worse. First , she minimizes the seriousness of what she did and then she goes on to force Ty to join her in the committment to "always tell each other the truth". That makes it sound like she still feels that he was partly responsible for what happened. I expect that is a reference back o Ty not telling her that he and Caleb had bought Charger in the hope that he could pay for his share of the ranch and not depend on her for money. Her over reaction to that issue was ridiculous. I think she just used it as an excuse to try and delay or end their engagement altogether.
In any case, as you said this scene did not help Amys character at all. If anything, it caused more damage by reinforcing how insincere Amys words and feelings always were toward Ty. It also provided yet another example of her refusing to take personal responsibility for her actions without spreading some of the blame to others. Here it was "not telling each other the truth". With Chase it was both of them " being attracted to other people" . In both cases it was Amy who was by far the person most at fault for the problem they faced. I guess from that perspective, at least the producers have been consistent.
Thanks again for the detailed industry information from your friend and for sharing the background of the HL interviews that you have seen. I cant / dont watch this show anymore. With Ty gone, there is simply no one left to root for. I am somewhat curious how long Amber will continue to produce this series. Will she ever just get tired of playing Amy Fleming and decide to stop? Somehow I doubt that given that she has no acting future outside of HL and her whole identity is wrapped up in actually being Amy Fleming.

I think spin off with Lyndy driving up in Her dad's truck and start it over again. It's loose loose the day Writers have Amy Charactor move forward with a 2nd relationship with another man. I say about 2/3rds of fan base will cringe, and get pissed. Spin it quickly.

They were sitting as close as lovers (they couldn't sit closer if they tried). Ahmed and Amy were a couple when the tour ended. Two people don't sit that close unless you're in love. Most guys would have dumped Amy right before she got on the helicopter.

I think this scene proves that "The Kiss" didn't influence Ty's decision to take a break. Ty had already decided to end things beforehand. When Georgie told him about the video, it was just another dagger to the heart. Ty knew Amy was keen on Ahmed long before she abandoned him. Most men, including myself, would have ended the relationship when Amy decided to go on tour. Someone asked in another post, "what kind of fiancée runs off to Europe on her own for five months, loses touch with her husband-to-be, and thinks that is AOK." There is more to the Amy and Ahmed story that has yet to be told. SPOILER ALRT: After a reminder of the Miricle Girl appeared in season 16, there is a possibility we may see Ahmed coming back into Amy's life again.

Ty said she was this different person, it was like Ahmed had groomed her for the taking, future plans for his big move when tells her “I am in love with you” on ground of that big beautiful mansion, this was the Prince next over the top luxury gift and hopefully steal Amy away from love of Ty.. even Lou saw the manipulation of Ahmed and warned Amy to be careful and Ty knew almost from start this Prince motive… glad Ty took the high road after physically🤜🏼 dealing with that conniving little Prince after Georgie told Ahmed only was pretending to be their friends (Bartlett, Fleming…) wanting to steal Amy away from Ty..said “I hate you” then Lou read him his rights, that he had disrespected Ty and Amy’s relationship, meaning he had cross the line, as Amy was Ty’s fiancé to be married..Jack basically took little mf by collar order off Heartland.. proud of Ty to say “we need a break” he loves her, she is the love of his life, but he realizes she has changed and seen another side of life filled with luxury, finer things and a young sheltered Amy from a mediocre struggling ranch of horses, raising cattle in small town was given a rare opportunity to use her gift with horses, but owners were the elite super rich versus wild horses, injured, abused horses, sick and abandoned herd of horses like her mother Marion who did trying to save now Amy’s beloved horse Spartan.. Amy and Ty’s committed relationship stated when she was only 14-15 y/o and at the point of their “break” she was just being to realize what freedom to explore and enjoy other aspects of living.. remember she said “I feel, I don’t know this place” meaning Heartland and in 4-months.. Ahmed might have exposed her to a different lifestyle, but all that materialistic stuff that can be bought is not What Love is..now Amy’s husband Ty Borden has passed away, Ahmed is no Ty Borden and unless new script for is written along lines of Graham Gordon don’t bring Prince Ahmed back to series, not the one for Amy, like the character

@@lynnnewton3876 One thing I have learned about Heartland is their producers and writers are master storytellers, and nothing that appears on this show is there by accident. There were several hints of Amy falling for Ahmed starting in episode 7x09, There But for Fortune. I was shocked that Amy kept that damn saddle (a horrible reminder of the pain she inflicted on Ty) and that she spoke fondly of Ahmed in season 16. I think the show has gone downhill and probably won't renew. If they bring Ahmed back, it may be for ratings. Who knows.

Amy Change when she came back from Europe.. Amy lied to ty... And I was Very upset with this episode... Ty was suppose to break up with her.. Amy again let another man kiss her.. She did the same thing with chase... So, my trust that I had of Amy!!! Went out the window... I believe Amy was having and affair with the prince... Why would a man give you Large amounts of monies expensive horses pay for you on trips... If nothing was going on.. Come on people.. Really!!! Ty is the Man.. I was glad he let her go.. Now Lou always gives Amy Bad advice.. And told her Not to tell ty... Come on Really... I was mad when he took her back.. But the Good part about this scene that Ty found out something about his self.. That he could live without her.. It is hard to say that Ty initially is "swallowing his pride" because he just stood up to Amy. However, he does seem to be the person who is asking Amy to "say someting, I am giving up on you".
In the end, Amy stays silent not only at this moment but basically all the way until Ty eventually does swallow his pride and takes her back.
The music is one of the best parts of Heartland.
Graham really brought the best acting out of Amber, and if you doubt this all you have to do is watch seasons 15-16 and 17 episodes 1 and 2, there is no doubt her acting has gone downhill since Graham's departure, I didn't mention season 14 because I thought Amber's acting in the aftermath of Ty's death was fantastic and spot on of how someone would cope with losing their soul mate, but since she has regressed to almost boring and unwatchable as is the show now.
One of Amber’s best performances is in the scene where Lou confronts Amy with the Ahmed kiss video. Amy gives the most common knee-jerk responses cheaters give when they’re caught red-handed: denial, blaming, gaslighting, and deflecting blame. Amy said, "It’s not what it looks like, Nothing happened, They gave me a necklace, I said thank you, and It happened that fast." Then she blames the jerk who recorded the video. Amber's acting was so convincing that fans were certain she was telling the truth.

Question: who in their right mind interpreted this statement to mean that Ty didnt care if Amy had slept with Ahmed or possibly even had a full blown sexual affair with him during the time they were in Europe together?. I mean, lets admit it, at this point he certainly had good reason to think that Amy had cheated on him at least once with Ahmed. Instead, the script implys that he was actually more upset because Amy wasnt honest or "trusted" him enough to tell him about what had happened. This interpretation seems so unrealistic. However, the producers have shown Ty doing similarly unrealistic things before (proposing marriage again after being turned down only a few months prior) so this could very well be what they had intended to convey.
To me Tys response represents not so much a lack of trust to confide in him but rather a serious lack of trust for her not to betray and cheat on him anymore. That is why he went on to say, "I think I have about had it" with your secrets and lies. I am giving up on you (accordig to the song that played) .
Later in the barn scene Ty moves on to discuss how Amy had changed so much that "he didnt know her anymore". I guess the implication was that Ty was telling Amy that he didnt want to marry a woman who was seeking professional fame and fortune because that wouldnt be "the same goals and dreams" that they had planned together. He didnt want to be part of that world. Still, telling Amy to chose between him or her carreer is not the type of action that we normally associate with Ty. Truthfully, I expect he is also feeling that Amy does not want to marry him anymore. He wants her to prove her love for him or go be a star with Ahmed in Europe. Finally he is showing a little self respect.
As for the breakup, it is hard for me to understand how Amys latest and most damaging betrayal of Ty somehow gets lost in the storyline while the producers are setting up a single purpose of the "break" (getting back to "having the same goals and dreams"). Then based on the actions and nonactions of Amy, this latest infidelity/betrayal is completely forgotten as something that never needs to be resolved or thought about again. That just astounds me and is so unrealistic. No man would accept that.
Did anyone really interpret this scene and episode this way when they first saw it?

Amy didn't cry because she wasn't that heartbroken when Ty slammed the brakes on their relationship. She took off with Ahmed and made no attempt to maintain her relationship with Ty. She rarely called Ty because she didn't care. She allowed Ahmed to kiss her and she was really into it. She comes back and shows Ty no affection, accepts expensive gifts and refuses to cut Ahmed off until she is at risk of getting caught. Ahmed professes his love and she convincingly pushes back. So everyone thought it was over between Amy and Ahmed.
Oh, but wait! Amy continued to wear diamonds from a man who still wants to marry her (even though she pushed back). Despite all her denials, only a woman in love with someone other than her fiance would put her engagement at risk. When writers and producers had Amy wear the necklace at dinner, the intent was to reveal that Amy was secretly in love with Ahmed all along, hence, no tears.
