Saving an Old Log Cabin Lost in the Woods | Pineapple Upside Down Cake

- This old trapper cabin at Nine Mile on the St. John River was built by Camille Beaulieu. He died in 2006. In 2015 the "Lost Cabin Hunters" who are now called the "Maine Cabin Masters" renovated the cabin installing a standing seam metal roof and flooring. In this episode I finish framing and decking the rustic rough cut cedar porch and make steak for dinner.
This cabin is an official North Maine Woods campsite and is open to the public on a first come first served basis.#logcabin #offgrid #cabinbuilding

I hope you get paid enough to do this that you are able to keep doing it ! This country needs more people like you. Thank you.
Hi, Camille Beaulieu was my father. The box was to keep extra bedding, pillows, clothing, etc. and, with a pad on top of it, it made an extra bed. Originally, there was another bed above it. It was a framed piece of canvas on hinges so it could be pushed up against the wall when not in use. The camp could sleep 6 men comfortably. Originally, there was a gable in the roof with a screened window in summer. My dad woke up one morning to a bear looking down into the camp! Thank you for all that you are doing to preserve its authenticity. My dad built that camp all by himself and lived there, alone, for about 5 years before he met my mom. After marriage, he built another, longer, cabin at the Quebec border near Lac-Frontiere, the overall plan was exactly the same as this one. My brothers and I grew up there, on the Maine side of the border.
Very cool, glad you found this, thanks for all the info, hopefully you can visit the cabin
Gracie did not like you laying in that "box"!!! LOL
Corey, you are really something, I just watched the video before this one and saw the beautiful porch you finished, just lovely. Gracie, Hi girl you are one lucky pup to be loved so well. Great river shots poling along, you capture the beauty of the north Maine woods so well. I read Helens book years ago, so great to actually see the site she lived.
Everything has a place and a place for everything. Nice clean work. PeaceY
Thank you so much Cory, Gracie, Froggy, and all the wilderness animals. These cabin restorations are so great and saving them before it's too late. Pineapple upside down cake looked awesome...either version.
I think what you are doing is a magnificent project. I appreciate your work ethic. I also admire that your vid’s are silent in conversation. We all do not need to be spoon fed as to what is going on. I am not a man of faith. I see that you are. What ever gives you strength and direction, I am all for. Please carry on your work. It is a worthy project not only in terms of what you mend to the cabins you attend, but also, you are leaving a great record in these videos of how to go about this and what your life’s effort at this stage is. Thank you for doing what you do.
It's looking very cosy and homely now Corey, Gracie's drools were priceless.
The drooling, so cute.. well done again…
I like the box. It was funny wen the dog was looking in at you.
Gracie did not like you lying in that box, almost uncanny. I love the video, the music, and the atmosphere.
Philippians 4: 10-13, Love that verse. Love always the words that bring life to us. Now the funny side of all, two things that fascinated me is the drooling of Ms. Gracie, priceless. Icing of the cake was that the Mr. Froggie saluted ya, LOL. Had to buckle over laughing. Many thanks again for this video. I am looking forward to the next one. Thanks again!!
Please be sure to check Gracie daily for ticks. She is such a good girl.
Dude, you are rockin it! Can’t tell you how much I/we enjoy each and every video! You and your talent are amazing. Thank you for sharing it with us. Hugs to Gracie!
Amen and Amen! I love Phillipians 4:10-13 What a wonderful job you are doing! enjoying watching you and may God continue to keep using you. Thank you
The steam shovel is a gorgeous and priceless find! 😯 My Grandpa would love to have seen this machine.
Music is just quiet and suspenseful enough.
I prefer the sky blue pink over the yellow sky, always
was my favorite saying before ever seeing it. Next is the clear blue with a smattering of clouds.
That cake regardless looked yummy .. Again great job your doing , you should be very proud of yourself..
I'm with Gracie, I'd be drooling too! Love this channel.
You made that box much more useful in two, when you’re out in the middle of nowhere sweets are such a luxury, I totally would have eaten it too and loved it! Super job on that cabin, looks so good! Thanks so much for your wonderful episode!

Thanks for the visit to Helen's place. I've been looking for a copy of Pine, Potatoes, and People for some time but they are all too expensive. I just want to read it. I loved her book, "Nine Mile Bridge."

@@TheMaineWoods it starts this weekend? I know turkey season started on the 20th but I do not have a tag for one yet and the town of Sebec has crazy town office hours. Does Grouse season start as well?

After reading the log book and seeing the title to this video ... this must be Cory & Gracie 🐾
Howdy Cory- this is such a pleasant and peaceful video to watch. You’re doing a great job with the cabin restoration. I could almost taste the upside down cake. Take care up there, brother. God bless and protect you and Gracie

Bro you got mad skills and we enjoy watching you turn that cabin into amazing little chill spot! The pineapple upside down cake looks amazing too Bro! Give that pretty puppy Gracie big belly rubs from your friend in Oklahoma!
Not much skill, nothing you can’t do
That would have made a great firewood bin....
I made a wood box with the other half
@@TheMaineWoods Excellent. I'm amazed that you've put so much work into this project. It's outstanding.
Cake yum
i have to say this, but you look like the guy from the Petito incident. If you were in the west coast, I think the FBi WOULD BE AT YOUR CABIN! good video sir!
A nice silky saw would have cut those boards like butter. 🤗
Definitely
I just found your channel and I’m hooked my question is are these cabins available to anyone to camp in or are they private? Thank you and keep up the good work I love living in Maine.

Glad to see someone who doesn't cuss, and covered in tattoos. If you want tattoos, your deal , God says no
I’ve been considering getting a neck tattoo…😂
Noticed you opened the video with your Bible time. I love that. It’s how I start my days. Makes the whole day go smoother. I noticed a truck across the way when you were peeling the log. Is that yours or another Maine woodsman?
An ol woodsman named Dewey
Was confused at first on the food. but hot pan+flipping + pineapple had to be pineapple upside down cake. Pineapple has more vitamin C than oranges so much so that if you eat a lot of dehydrated pineapple it can cause mouth ulcers lol. Pineapple in gorp is good. You're almost done with that one.
When you and your dog are out on the water in the Canoe who operated the Drone
Me
Is your dog's name "Drool" cuz shazam, the puppy drools a lot. (grins)
Would have made a good rodent resistant closet/pantry. Chet Obrien
Looks good anyway.
Hello did you know if you dry the bark it make a good fire starter just fyi
At 1:40, is that another camp across the river?
There are 3 camps across the river
Love your videos but laying in the box was a bit creepy! If I was your Mom or Dad I would have said something to you about it! Keep up your great work!
Just taking a nap
☺👍 🐶👏
God bless your channel for glorifying Him. In Jesus precious name ❤.
It's almost midnight and now I'm craving Pineapple Upside-down Cake....smh
Seriously your dog doesn't even flinch when you working with power tools a d dropping logs. Does he have a hearing problem? Great dog though!
She’s used to it
😁👌
Looks like hell but ill bet it tastes awesome
It was ugly lol
Dog skinny. Heart worms? Intestinal worms? Don't care? Good channel.
👋😎
Another beautiful video. Can anyone explain to me Philipians 4:10-13? I'm trying to understand the bible better. thanks.
Don't you need a mattress in that there coffin?
😂
