  • When changing out your spark plugs on your 2011-2016 6.2L V8, be sure to inspect your resistors in your ignition coils. Consider purchasing new resistors and boots. You may need to replace the entire coil if the resistor is not able to sit in the coil properly due to corrosion. This was the case for several coils on my 2011 Ford F-350 Super Duty.

I had this happen to literally all my coils on my 6.2. Is there a way to prevent it other than dielectric grease on the boot to try to seal out the water?

I'm trying to look into that as well. there's a seal that runs across the back of the hood that I believe is allowing water to drip onto the engine. It seems like the water that is getting in is sitting on the engine and finding it's way down into the spark plug wells. I may be wrong but, I'll be starting with that seal.

Where do you get rebuild kits? I can’t find them. Looks like I have to buy new boots. Can’t find just the spring and resistor

I got the rebuild kits from RockAuto. I would look there

Toyota ignition coils don't commonly get corrosion.

Yeah, unfortunately, these trucks seem to get water down in the spark plug wells. I believe it has to do with the seal at the top of the hood.
