You underestimated the risk, when camping on that iceberg. I have spent many years in the Arctic watching them, not just roll, without warning, but also collapsing in the middle, or have large chunks falling off. This happens much more frequently, than you suggest in the video, especially during the summer. That berg could have rolled as soon as you set foot on it, or one hour later, or five, you just can’t tell, in advance. What often happens, is that it it is slowly melting on one side, more than the other. It then rolls into a new stable position, very suddenly, and without warning. This means that your tent becomes a death trap. Even just standing on it, near the edge is more risky than it appears. There are often underwater, horizontal "shelves", extending some distance out from the berg, These can be, far enough below the surface, so that you can't see them from the water surface. When the berg rolls, even though you might be in your kayak near the berg, and not on it, you will be caught up on that hidden ice shelf, and trapped underwater, unable to escape. I’m saying this for the safety of other watchers, who might be tempted to follow your example, thinking the risk is much lower than it really is.
I love that you're brutally honest with yourself; knowing the risks you're taking and weighing the rewards, without being totally irresponsible and throwing all caution to the wind. Could the worst still happen even if only because of sheer bad luck? Yes, but you've clearly decided that the rewards are worth those risks.
Risk for reward is one thing (and I am guilty of such as well). However, when I take these risks, I also take into consideration "will I be putting someone elses life at risk as well if something goes south real quick"? Relying on the Coast Guard as a fail safe without removing as many risk factors as possible can be deemed selfish. I did not see a PFD, but it is possible to wear an inflatable under a loose jacket. Then there is dressing appropriately for the water temperature, not the air temperature. In the event of a kayak capsize event. Without a PFD, very slim chance of finding a flipped over kayak paddler. In 45-60°F water, you have very few attempts to get back into a kayak before extremities are useless regardless of how awesome of a swimmer or shape you are in. Water that is right up against freezing, your time to reboard a kayak is reduced to a handful of seconds. Everyone's adventure (including my own) should take other folks lives into consideration. I am so glad we are able to see this adventure from the traveler himself, and not from the news.
Wait a minute I'm not stupid and I'm a critical thinker. If all the water around a so called iceberg is running how did the " iceberg " come to be in the first place? How can ice form on top of running water if the temperature is higher than the "iceberg " , the temperature of the water would melt the ice. The whole body of water would have to be ice even then you wouldn't have big giant ice mountains jump on top of the water like that,,,,,how did that happen? And how long has the so called iceberg been there 🤔 ? They got busted this is CGI icebergs don't exist prove me wrong I DARE YOU!
2 things are unimaginable here, for us in Africa, especially South Africa: 1. Seeing midnight like this 2. Standing on iceberg and sleep there You took us on a wonderful trip today. God bless you
Man I spent 30 years around the glaciers of Southeast Alaska. I can't tell you how many icebergs I've seen roll. One rolled near the Mendenhall Glacier and two people drowned, and I've seen others roll all over SE Alaska. Camping on an iceberg is a really bad idea. Now camping on a glacier, now that is a different story - highly recommend if you have some trining.
Ok, now you've done it, survived, and most of all you enjoyed it and made memories to last a lifetime. You've definitely got bragging rights now. Enjoy it! Just don't do it again. 😁 AND most of all thank you for sharing it with us.
This is your most epic video to date and progressively got more and more epic! Bald eagles, sonic booms, giant boulders… just wow. Thank you for taking us along.
Wow. As a Seattle resident love your Rainier videos. But this one takes the cake. Love it. Be safe and enjoy yourself. Thanks for bringing your audience along
Everest, u have made some awesome videos but this is the best so far, hands down! While many maybe concerned for your safety, it is of your own free will and u bring us on adventures that most of us won't experience and we thank you. this deserves millions of views so lets share this to your socials
Your video is reaching out to India now.. congratulations your channel is growing through your mind-blowing contents with heavenly places. I truly believe one day I will go to these places. Keep growing. Keep exploring
Aaw! Im so glad you got to experience your life long dream. I was on the edge of my seat though. Getting in and out of the kayak without puncturing holes in it, that crazy sonic boom, finding out your glacier floated while you slept! This trip was insane but to see those beautiful blue ice caves was just everything. Cant wait to watch the next video! Stay safe please!💜🙏🏼
I waited so long to see a video of someone camping on an iceberg because I wanted to see how it was, and by accident I just found this video! Super cool
I’m so glad you fulfilled your life long dream of camping on an iceberg. But you’ve got a lot of living to do so I’m anticipating many more adventure videos. Your bravery to do these adventures is admirable but I’m sure your parents must worry constantly. Thank you for sharing not only the fun exploration aspects, but also you vast knowledge of the outdoors. Amazing!!
This was amazing and crazy at the same time, I think safety was not important here. lol! The camera shake captured the sonic boom, wow! I'm sure booms like that trigger glacier tippings
Most serene place that ive ever seen. Am i right in thinking that any iceberg can flip over? Hence campjng on one could be quite scary. Great video and thank you for sharing your adventures.
I find those ice caves fascinating as when you think about it, it provides the total opposite of what your standard earthen cave offers: A pool of water below, and eternal raining from above
Beautiful scenery in Alaska. Those Ice burgs are stunning. However, what I learned from ice burns in Nfld. THEY can flip over at anytime. I've never seen anyone brave enough to camp on one. But, I see you made it. Just getting in and out of the kayake takes skill. Thanks for taking us along your adventure.
That blast from a glacier calving was awesome! The most important part of experiencing the world is staying safe. Please stay safe. BTW, sleeping with a bunch of Kodiak bears on Kodiak Island wouldn't be a good idea either. Especially if you wanted to cook a big bacon breakfast in your Ford Transit van. (the bears in our area LOVE bacon). Thanks for all the videos and sharing them.
You are AWESOME‼️ Sure enjoyed your video‼️You are way braver than me‼️ Thanks for taking us along to see these sights‼️That view coming out of that ice cave- W OW‼️
Love your adventures! Extraordinary experiences always require a measure of risk. You're living your life to the fullest. Don't stop. Ships are safe in the harbor but that's not what they're built for.
Can't believe that's midnight! what a fantastic video, though I confess that I, like alot of others, was kinda holding my breath until you got back out of the caves. Tx for letting me tag along!
Hey Everest we’ve-been adventuring w u since the early winter … love your travels n your love for the snow…you inspired us to head to the Sierra mountains last march ( all the way from cape cod) just to play in the snow😃😄 ❄️ we think your the sweetest n coolest adventure guy ever. Really enjoyed this video and your paddles around the ice ❤ stay sweet n safe n curious. Live it up my friend!! Best Lisa n Rachael
I planned a cruise to Alaska last year. The ship I was supposed to get on hit an iceberg. Hopefully next summer I can get back there. That loud boom would have knocked me off my feet I tell you!
Holy Iceberg 🧊!!! Absolutely beautiful scenery. WOW. No words to describe how amazing this video is. The capturing of it was something else. Your excitement and happiness was felt through the screen. I love all your adventures but this one tops then for sure. You are brave and truly living an epic life of adventures that most of us could only dare to dream of. Keep living your best life that you have been. Inspiring!!! Thank you so much for sharing this 💖
Another absolutely fantastic instalment of your travels, such a magical place to explore! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us, I love getting a new video notification from your channel ☺️☺️
amazing work well done very jealous!! I was camping in the Mountains in Sweden in Easter 2023 for just a few days, is all the time I had, but enough to reset my brain! I love the Arctic!!
it really feel too small when we are in front of these big mountains and glaciers , just sitting there and enjoying the nature is the best experience ever anyone could get away from those cars and motors
Had my first experience in Alaska with my family last summer 1500 miles in an RV from Anchorage to Denali back to Anchorage then south to Seward . My favorite day was hiking on the Matanuska Glacier Amazing experience!
This one is the bestest! Those glaciers calving, that sound, the icy blue, the overnight berg movement and then the hole in it because of the body heat/ or was it always there, the milky blue water! And the edge of seat drama for that kayak not to get punctured or float away😁

I have always wanted to go to Alaska and take pictures there. I’m a photographer just amateur one day I hope to be a professional. I love bald eagles 🦅 I haven’t been able to get a great picture of them yet. Always too far away from me.
10/10!! Stunning from beginning to end! I sooooo did not even think about you (and all the other icebergs) moving while you slept. And that calving boom…what a treat! I had to watch that at slow speed a few times. You could see the vibration just before the sound! You couldn’t have written a better episode! 😊 Got a kick outta watching your face after the first bite of that well-earned grilled cheese. Two years ago I was in Alaska Fairbanks During the winter time it was my first time being there it was awesome would I go back again yes I would Alaska is so amazing and beautiful and peaceful❤
Wow absolutely beautiful ⛺️ campsite. Thank you for taking us with you. Wow it’s hot here in Ohio and you are surrounded with ice right here in 🇺🇸 USA. Amazing 💕🤗
I watch someone in Svalbard! I love the way you do close ups and then drone shots in the next take, then close up. so effective. amazing shots. be safe buddy. you are a crazy risk-taker! it's a good thing the shoe picks didn't pierce your boat when they were put in the back compartment, I think you were leaning on them, but they might have punctured at any time given what they are, what the boat is and just having them there! glad you were safe!
Wow just a fantastic video, what a beautiful world we all live on, I’m no spring chicken so thanks for taking me to places I would never see, but please take care, you make me nervous sometimes 👍

this is very helpful. Tanks a bunch!
or a ship can hit it that doesnt have enough Life Boats\\🤣
Shut up Karen. People will live their lives regardless if YOU don't like it. No one cares. Stay in your bubble and let people live.
Talk about risk taking, you fear nothing do you, you are an Amazing adventurer.
Appreciate it!
Exactly. To be honest, the odds of something terrible happening in one night are relatively low but never 0.
Risk for reward is one thing (and I am guilty of such as well). However, when I take these risks, I also take into consideration "will I be putting someone elses life at risk as well if something goes south real quick"?

He "woke up" in the exact same spot. I almost doubt he even slept there overnight looked like a shader to me. What a tool.

I was thinking the same thing, icebergs are very unpredictable.
this ice berg looks beached
more please! i cant go to sleep without these videos of snow camping
At 6:20 that boom shook the camera, so cool
I've been living in alaska years back before and thinking about coming back for a season since than, especially after watching stuff like that..
Beautiful as it is, I would recommend being a little more careful. Not the brightest idea. One dip in the water and game over more than likely.
When he started pounding in those spikes I was waiting for the ice cube to split apart that he's camping on, like in ice age with scrat
This is your most epic video to date and progressively got more and more epic! Bald eagles, sonic booms, giant boulders… just wow. Thank you for taking us along.
Wow, thanks!
I agree! At least the most epic of his videos I've seen.

My thoughts exactly, it can happen anytime.
You are a daredevil I would never try that. You should try a couple Sliced tomatoes in your grill cheese it's good 😋
gutsy, icebergs can flip anytime. the scenery was great, the colors were awesome, have fun, be safe.
