You underestimated the risk, when camping on that iceberg. I have spent many years in the Arctic watching them, not just roll, without warning, but also collapsing in the middle, or have large chunks falling off. This happens much more frequently, than you suggest in the video, especially during the summer. That berg could have rolled as soon as you set foot on it, or one hour later, or five, you just can’t tell, in advance. What often happens, is that it it is slowly melting on one side, more than the other. It then rolls into a new stable position, very suddenly, and without warning. This means that your tent becomes a death trap. Even just standing on it, near the edge is more risky than it appears. There are often underwater, horizontal "shelves", extending some distance out from the berg, These can be, far enough below the surface, so that you can't see them from the water surface. When the berg rolls, even though you might be in your kayak near the berg, and not on it, you will be caught up on that hidden ice shelf, and trapped underwater, unable to escape. I’m saying this for the safety of other watchers, who might be tempted to follow your example, thinking the risk is much lower than it really is.
this is very helpful. Tanks a bunch!
or a ship can hit it that doesnt have enough Life Boats\\🤣
Shut up Karen. People will live their lives regardless if YOU don't like it. No one cares. Stay in your bubble and let people live.
2 things are unimaginable here, for us in Africa, especially South Africa:
1. Seeing midnight like this
2. Standing on iceberg and sleep there
You took us on a wonderful trip today. God bless you
Now I want to braai there. Actually South Africans want to Braai everywhere
I love that you're brutally honest with yourself; knowing the risks you're taking and weighing the rewards, without being totally irresponsible and throwing all caution to the wind. Could the worst still happen even if only because of sheer bad luck? Yes, but you've clearly decided that the rewards are worth those risks.
Exactly. To be honest, the odds of something terrible happening in one night are relatively low but never 0.
Risk for reward is one thing (and I am guilty of such as well). However, when I take these risks, I also take into consideration "will I be putting someone elses life at risk as well if something goes south real quick"?
Relying on the Coast Guard as a fail safe without removing as many risk factors as possible can be deemed selfish.
I did not see a PFD, but it is possible to wear an inflatable under a loose jacket. Then there is dressing appropriately for the water temperature, not the air temperature. In the event of a kayak capsize event.
Without a PFD, very slim chance of finding a flipped over kayak paddler. In 45-60°F water, you have very few attempts to get back into a kayak before extremities are useless regardless of how awesome of a swimmer or shape you are in. Water that is right up against freezing, your time to reboard a kayak is reduced to a handful of seconds.
Everyone's adventure (including my own) should take other folks lives into consideration.
I am so glad we are able to see this adventure from the traveler himself, and not from the news.
He "woke up" in the exact same spot. I almost doubt he even slept there overnight looked like a shader to me. What a tool.
@@WeAreLegion- you're so upset 😢
Wait a minute I'm not stupid and I'm a critical thinker. If all the water around a so called iceberg is running how did the " iceberg " come to be in the first place? How can ice form on top of running water if the temperature is higher than the "iceberg " , the temperature of the water would melt the ice. The whole body of water would have to be ice even then you wouldn't have big giant ice mountains jump on top of the water like that,,,,,how did that happen? And how long has the so called iceberg been there 🤔 ?
They got busted this is CGI icebergs don't exist prove me wrong I DARE YOU!
more please! i cant go to sleep without these videos of snow camping
Everest, u have made some awesome videos but this is the best so far, hands down! While many maybe concerned for your safety, it is of your own free will and u bring us on adventures that most of us won't experience and we thank you. this deserves millions of views so lets share this to your socials
I would love if it did haha! Guess we’ll see. Thanks!
I’m so glad you fulfilled your life long dream of camping on an iceberg. But you’ve got a lot of living to do so I’m anticipating many more adventure videos. Your bravery to do these adventures is admirable but I’m sure your parents must worry constantly. Thank you for sharing not only the fun exploration aspects, but also you vast knowledge of the outdoors. Amazing!!
Thanks so much!
Howdy! Welcome to the Iceberg Campers Club! We just recently published our experience camping on an iceberg :D Keep up the hard work.
Your video is reaching out to India now.. congratulations your channel is growing through your mind-blowing contents with heavenly places. I truly believe one day I will go to these places. Keep growing. Keep exploring
One word. BRAVE✨️
Aaw! Im so glad you got to experience your life long dream. I was on the edge of my seat though. Getting in and out of the kayak without puncturing holes in it, that crazy sonic boom, finding out your glacier floated while you slept! This trip was insane but to see those beautiful blue ice caves was just everything. Cant wait to watch the next video! Stay safe please!💜🙏🏼
Most serene place that ive ever seen. Am i right in thinking that any iceberg can flip over? Hence campjng on one could be quite scary. Great video and thank you for sharing your adventures.
My thoughts exactly, it can happen anytime.
Man I spent 30 years around the glaciers of Southeast Alaska. I can't tell you how many icebergs I've seen roll. One rolled near the Mendenhall Glacier and two people drowned, and I've seen others roll all over SE Alaska. Camping on an iceberg is a really bad idea. Now camping on a glacier, now that is a different story - highly recommend if you have some trining.
That is so scary…
I’ve done both now…even though it’s sketchy, iceberg camping takes the cake.
Ok, now you've done it, survived, and most of all you enjoyed it and made memories to last a lifetime. You've definitely got bragging rights now. Enjoy it! Just don't do it again. 😁
AND most of all thank you for sharing it with us.
I was thinking the same thing, icebergs are very unpredictable.
this ice berg looks beached
I waited so long to see a video of someone camping on an iceberg because I wanted to see how it was, and by accident I just found this video! Super cool
Love your adventures! Extraordinary experiences always require a measure of risk. You're living your life to the fullest. Don't stop. Ships are safe in the harbor but that's not what they're built for.
Holy Iceberg 🧊!!! Absolutely beautiful scenery. WOW. No words to describe how amazing this video is. The capturing of it was something else. Your excitement and happiness was felt through the screen. I love all your adventures but this one tops then for sure. You are brave and truly living an epic life of adventures that most of us could only dare to dream of. Keep living your best life that you have been. Inspiring!!! Thank you so much for sharing this 💖
Cheers to a fellow Iceberg Camper! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.
Howdy! Welcome to the Iceberg Campers Club! We just recently published our experience camping on an iceberg :D Keep up the hard work.
Thank you!!
Wow what a stunning place and to be able to have that experience is def life changing, that ice was gorgeous as was the mountains,be safe in your adventures .
Another absolutely fantastic instalment of your travels, such a magical place to explore! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us, I love getting a new video notification from your channel ☺️☺️
Glad you enjoyed it!! ❤️
10/10!! Stunning from beginning to end! I sooooo did not even think about you (and all the other icebergs) moving while you slept. And that calving boom…what a treat! I had to watch that at slow speed a few times. You could see the vibration just before the sound! You couldn’t have written a better episode! 😊 Got a kick outta watching your face after the first bite of that well-earned grilled cheese. I love that you appreciated that sandwich as much as your boeuf bourguignon! 😁
Thank you so much!!
you are crazy!! but the scenery is absolutely beautiful 😍❤️. Stay safe!
Thanks, you too!
That’s incredible.. Thank you for taking us along
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love watching all Alaska Videos. I can't believe you slept on the ice burg. Awesome video.
Thanks for watching!
I find those ice caves fascinating as when you think about it, it provides the total opposite of what your standard earthen cave offers: A pool of water below, and eternal raining from above
Thank you for sharing! Means more than you know!
You are so welcome!
It was beautiful. Just high. I am glad you are living your dream. Not many people get to do that. May God protect and bless you in your travels. 💜💜
Thank you so much!
Epic & thanking you for sharing your surreal amazing experience with us 👍🏾
My pleasure!!
Living a life indeed! Authentic!🌞
I'm in Ontario Canada, and Alaska is ony bucket list. Thank you so much for sharing this!❤
Amazing guy enjoy life … .. fear does not prevent death it prevents life …
You are AWESOME‼️ Sure enjoyed your video‼️You are way braver than me‼️ Thanks for taking us along to see these sights‼️That view coming out of that ice cave- W OW‼️
Thanks for watching!
One of the coolest videos I have ever seen on youtube, Fantastic job!
Wow, thanks!
I planned a cruise to Alaska last year. The ship I was supposed to get on hit an iceberg. Hopefully next summer I can get back there. That loud boom would have knocked me off my feet I tell you!
I love watching Cecilia’s channel all about life on Svalbard!
When he started pounding in those spikes I was waiting for the ice cube to split apart that he's camping on, like in ice age with scrat
That blast from a glacier calving was awesome! The most important part of experiencing the world is staying safe. Please stay safe. BTW, sleeping with a bunch of Kodiak bears on Kodiak Island wouldn't be a good idea either. Especially if you wanted to cook a big bacon breakfast in your Ford Transit van. (the bears in our area LOVE bacon). Thanks for all the videos and sharing them.
I've been living in alaska years back before and thinking about coming back for a season since than, especially after watching stuff like that..
Really appreciate the effort you went through in making this vid. Regards from Aus.
Much appreciated!
Had my first experience in Alaska with my family last summer
1500 miles in an RV from Anchorage to Denali back to Anchorage then south to Seward . My favorite day was hiking on the Matanuska Glacier
Amazing experience!
I watch someone in Svalbard! I love the way you do close ups and then drone shots in the next take, then close up. so effective. amazing shots. be safe buddy. you are a crazy risk-taker! it's a good thing the shoe picks didn't pierce your boat when they were put in the back compartment, I think you were leaning on them, but they might have punctured at any time given what they are, what the boat is and just having them there! glad you were safe!
Thank you very much! There’s a little cavity back there so it was ok but it’s a good point to bring up!
What a stunning adventure!
Thank you!
Sitting in India and dreaming to visit Alaska, thanks for the amazing video ❤
wow thats crazy how the landscape changed around you overnight. Would have been terrifying if your kayak drifted off while the iceberg was moving.
WOW.........thank you for sharing such an amazing place
My pleasure 😊
Absolutely beautiful footage 🎉
Thank you very much!
Bringing the flag was an amazing thing of you to do
Thanks! Felt appropriate for Independence Day 🇺🇸🇺🇸
"is what you're doing safe?"
"NO"
"No it's not safe but y'know what? Neither is getting in your car and driving on the free way and i'd much rather be camped on an iceberg than be camped in traffic"
Absolute fkn respect.
Haha thanks 👊
Bro, that was probably the craziest video that I have ever seen!!!! I can’t believe that you’re able to make each video better
Omg it’s like watching a green screen movie ❤❤❤❤. So amazing that it’s all real😍😍😍
Wow absolutely beautiful ⛺️ campsite. Thank you for taking us with you. Wow it’s hot here in Ohio and you are surrounded with ice right here in 🇺🇸 USA. Amazing 💕🤗
Thanks for watching!!!
This one is the bestest! Those glaciers calving, that sound, the icy blue, the overnight berg movement and then the hole in it because of the body heat/ or was it always there, the milky blue water! And the edge of seat drama for that kayak not to get punctured or float away😁
Wow beautiful scenery.
Sickest camping experience you could probably ever do!! This was amazing scary and exciting!! Be safe!!
Thank you! Will do!
This channel deserves million subs... Matter of time.
I appreciate it!!
Ok adding this to my bucket list. Cheers!
This channel will forsure have 1 million soon. Pure
Wow Wow!! What a beautiful place to camp! You make the most amazing videos! You are going to have sooo many amazing adventures to show your grand kids some day! Be safe out there!
Thank you so much!
This is amazing . God bless you man
Can't believe that's midnight! what a fantastic video, though I confess that I, like alot of others, was kinda holding my breath until you got back out of the caves. Tx for letting me tag along!
I was in Alaska for the last two weeks on vacation! A remarkable place.
Everyone should do this so they melt more quickly. Thanks for sharing!
dude that's wild haha .. imagine that thing flips during the night.
that is so awesome to be doing that sometimes dumb decisions pay off because there the only way to catch instances like that.
Exactly 💯
how awesome and wonderful this video is where no annoying background music 😍
This is epic man, love it! Adam from Australia.
ohhhh wow👽
Awesome!
Thanks!
@@TravelersTale I rarely watch other people’s videos but this was very nice! I need to go see more snow and ice.
That must be heaven.
Fantastic video! You are really kicking thing up another notch. Beautiful scenery and so many great shots.
Thanks a ton!
I am glad you acknowledge the dangers. But you are absolutely right about the dangers driving on the freeway as well. There is no natural structure in that! Your adventures are just amazing!
I totally agree! Thank you for watching!
Wow just a fantastic video, what a beautiful world we all live on, I’m no spring chicken so thanks for taking me to places I would never see, but please take care, you make me nervous sometimes 👍
So nice of you!
Such a beautiful video and the caves what a beautiful place. Thank you .
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@TravelersTale yes very much

What an epic video... So absolutely gorgeous it's the kind of landscape I just love. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us, And I know that you be very careful. Well, you're still giving reign to your passions. Your joy is quite catching. Thank you so much what an amazing journey. At 70 three, it's probably not something I will do but getting to see the landscape and walk through it. In your eyes it's an amazing gift, Thank you so very much. Blessings, Gramma Teri
Hey man quick question what camera you using cause the quality is SUPERB
iPhone 14 PRO and DJI Mavic 3 Pro
This is documentary video footage. Outstanding. Thank you.
Wow, thank you!
You are an amazing brother, I will share it with my friends . I appreciate it sir .
Spectacular 🎉 gorgeous camp site. Those caves are amazing!
They are!
CONGRATS on reaching over 100K subs!! 💯👏👏👏🏆
How absolutely beautiful! 8 billion people in the world and there you were...alone with no one in sight! If you wouldn't have said anything, I would have thought those big BOOMS were from fireworks. haha
Did you encounter anyone whilst you were on your iceberg? Did anyone float by? Did you see any bears? Polar or otherwise?
Some things you do might not be safe, but I am confident that if you happen to run into some trouble - you have the knowledge to get yourself out.
Happy belated 4th of July! 🔴⚪🔵🧨🎆
I didn’t see a soul! Very peaceful. Thanks for watching! Happy 4th!
OH MY GOSH! I cannot believe you did this! I was like this…. 😨 with my mouth wide open. A fly almost flew in. I couldn’t believe you did this. I watched on my giant tv and the blue colors and the green mountains 🏔️ are so pretty!!! I got scared for you too though lol 🫣 I kept wondering if that hole was there the whole time, or if it formed overnight. 🫣🫣😳 Thanks for sharing!! This is the closest I will ever get to an iceberg 🏔️
if courage was a person, you're the one. It is very beautiful.
AWWWWESOME!!!!!
I imagine ice bergs get top-heavy over time, from the underside melting away, then easy to flip over - creepy
But quite the spectacle!
Held my breath through much of this. But what an epic camping adventure. Well done.
Spectacular! Your adventures are simply amazing. I don’t think there’s anything you’re afraid of. Your poor mother! 🤣 Brilliant as usual. Thanks so much for sharing your incredible talent with us!!
Thanks so much!
I love this video very much, thank you for making me to see the beauty of nature...naturally beautiful...💖
Wow this was insane but I really enjoyed this adventure..
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Thank you! I would love to do this some day.
Go for it!
Really enjoy this video ❤
Great adventure, and the fact that the iceberg moved while you were sleeping is scary!! I hope no one tries to do this challenge
Haha yes this is NOT A CHALLENGE
@@TravelersTale challenging the nature 🥲
Alaska is beautiful ❤
Sure is
So cool.
❤ This was amazing Everest. A very beautiful but also scary video. It was simply stunning in those caves. I hold my breath a couple of times though 😱. You are definitely living the life my friend. Quite dangerously sometimes. But to see the happiness in your face, your eyes glowing out of joy, is what I love about you. Hope you are okay now 🤔. I know you said you were fine, but I'm still a bit worried. A truly great video and the drone fotage was beautiful too ❤️❤. Bless you and stay safe 🤗❤️❤️
Thank you so much!!
