Did you pre-order a Mars 3? A few people already got theirs in the US. You might be getting yours soon! This is so exciting 😃
Pre-ordered in EU. Arrived yesterday, but I'll pick it up today.
Blown away by your editing 🤘🤘🤘
🤯 OMG, Uncle Jessy! Thanks man, it means a lot. Your channel is an inspiration! ❤️
Concur, just by the cuts, this took alot of time.
Yeah, Blake! It did 🤣 Thanks ❤️
Wow, you covered it all, high video quality and detailed description. One has a lot to be benefited from it. Such a fantastic work! Congratulations!
Hey Mommy! 😄 Oh, you spoil me 🥰 I am happy with the final result, specially the close-ups of the models. But it took toooooo much time to put it together.
As always, AMAZING work, Everson! 😄 I knew nothing about 3D printing, and I´m learning a lot! And entertaining as heck!
My dear friend! How happy I am to see you here 😊 So, Resin 3D Printing and Plastic 3D Printing are two very different worlds! Resin is AMAZINGLY DETAILED. But I think plastic is more entertaining as you can really watch what is happening while it prints - and you can make cool timelapses like this: ua-cam.com/video/0uR1UBcCcEM/v-deo.html
Great video sir. The lighting /editing, the voice and the content/comedy. As usual! I'll go clean my brown nose now... :p
Thank you very much!
Your videos are superb! You are the best reviewer on the web.
HA HA HA! Thank you Rodrigo! ❤️ So nice to see you here!
great video, LOVE THE DETAILS!! you show on the video, the details are all in live, thanks for the video
I am so happy you enjoyed the video! 😄 When you hold the pieces yourself and you can look very close to your eyes, the details are so amazing - it is tricky to bring “the same” experience to video 🤔
I know nothing about 3D printing but this video kept me interested. Great video.
Hey! Thank YOU for watching and the nice words! 🤗
I love your videos you inspired me to buy the elegoo starter kit and I love it ❤️
Thanks! Oh man, DONT BUY a 3D printer! Most addictive thing EVER!
@@GeekDetour wow you actually responded i have been a big fan for a while great content
A fantastic review with lots a great info!
You came! 😄 Thanks man! It took me a while (and 500 GB of footage 🤯)
@@GeekDetour damn 500GB?! Well it definitely paid off! Nice work!
@@SlicePrintRoleplay yeah, most of it was recorded in 4K, even though I exported it in 1080p It makes a lot of difference to get images sharp and with less noise. AND you record 2 minutes of something and just pick 2 seconds in the final editing 🤣
@@GeekDetour ah yeah that would do it! I've only just recently starting recording in 1080p 60fps. 😂
Hi everybody! Have you enjoyed the video? This one was A LOT of work: when you take prints in your hands and look with you own eyes, any differences are crystal clear. BUT it is so hard to capture that in VIDEO 😅 And to see it well on your phone, things must VERY Close 🤨
tomorrow I finally get the elegoo mars 3 !! 😃🙌🙌. What configuration in seconds per layer do you have to obtain better results?
I have never seen a V-Twin City. So Cool.
Great review. Finally someone showing macro pics of prints.
Is your new channel open?
Thanks!!! There are even a few microscope shots there! (Not only the one in the beginning). The AmeraLabs Town I had to shoot using a microscope. I have just a handful of videos there - here is the coolest one: ua-cam.com/video/0uR1UBcCcEM/v-deo.html
@@GeekDetour wow! High quality level video. I like the colors, the rhytm... Congrat!
I am not seeing the Mars 3 under the Amazon link you provided. Great review, by the way! That is something I HAVE to have!
Hi there, thanks! The Mars 3 was on pre-sale only at the Elegoo website. People who bought it are just starting to receive it. I don't know when they will begin to sell it regularly - on Amazon now you can find previous Mars series (which are cheaper).
Great vid! I want one, but how long will it be before I can buy one if I didn't already preorder?
Thanks! I read something about November!
Hi there, i used to have Creality filament printer, but i smashed that printer away after some time (maybe 2 years of painful trying to print) because it was terribly warping and all the time having troubles with bed leveling, curved bed throuh temperature, loudness etc etc, i spent more time with setting the printer to work properly then on printing.
I am projecting smaller electronic products and i need cases for my projects, something in a way of injection molded ones with good look, with kinda smooth surface to can coat it for example with water transfer painting withou need to sand it, fill gaps etc. That was taking too much time and it was never perfect.
My primary need is to have beautiful surface and precise sizes. Unfortunately i found fdm printing absolutely not suitable for such a projects, there were always very seenable layers and gaps and the parts were always (even if only a bit) warped, especially on a bit bigger parts...
Now, i think of SLA 3d printing for my projects. Will this be good choice? Thanks :)
Hi Michal! 👋 Excellent question! I am very new at Resin - but I've been using an Ender 3 Pro (heavily modified now) for two years now, and it is true what you said: the FDM printers are heavily dependant on perfect mechanical adjustment and you need to put lots of effort fine-tuning and keeping it well maintained. Resin printers are MUCH simpler to operate! There are only two critical mechanical things to pay attention: the z-axis (linear rails and threaded rod) might need sporadic lubrication; and the build platform must be correctly levelled to get good prints. It won't suffer from warping like the FDM ones because it is a much more solid piece of aluminium, also smaller and it is not heated. NOW, will you be able to make the prototype boxes you dream about? Probably, if you learn to add supports and tilt the parts properly on the slicer (things are a bit different on resin). The finishing might get you happy. BUT, Resins are weaker than plastic. For a prototype, excellent - but if you are planing to sell products, you need to test more resilient resins (that will also be more expensive). Good luck!
I got my pre order on Tuesday right as I got home from night work ha It is my first printer and I am loving it! :-) I am curios though what settings are you using and did you put on anti aliasing on? If so what one? I keep hearing mixed things about it good and bad for both on and off.
Anti-Aliasing is AMAZING depending on the model. If softens a little bit the details (super tiny details can even disappear), BUT if your model has many curved surfaces - like helmets, armors, spheres - or even some slightly inclined planes, Anti-Alias can really fix/remove the unwanted stepping patterns. But to achieve the best results you need to print a few tests and decide which is best… That’s why I need to make a video about it 😆 The Magneto heads had Anti-Alias on, both on the Mars 3 and the one I printed on a Voxelabs 2k (virtually identical to a Mars 2).
@@GeekDetour Oh wow thank you very much, this is a huge help tbh ha I noticed some small faces were getting very flat almost in two of my prints. (one is a huge monster with people trapped in its belly, the other was a small face and armour details) This is a big help, Il try one with it off to see anyway :-)
Hi again: take a look to this video again, at 7:24, when I mention Antialiasing… Pause when the red arrows and circles appear. The left circle shows the “stairs” effect of a diagonal, at the right you can see how it can be made smoother by antialiasing. Now the arrows: at left you can see some sort of concentric “rings” at the side of the hemisphere (where the arrow points); the right arrow shows that antialiasing helped to reduce those concentric aliasing artifact. NOW, something that antialiasing won’t fix: the Layer lines at the top of the hemispheres (see? On top of both hemispheres you can see circles due to the layer height). If you reduce from 0.05 to 0.03 layer height, it will be less visible (but your print-time will me much longer).
@@GeekDetour thank you again big help 😁
@@GeekDetour oh yeah again I think this will help alot with making some things like faces and smaller details on body armour better and more clear. Will do some test models anyway 😁
Also ,since you seem to have some expirience with grove components...Are they good? I really want to buy some servos ,but there are a lot of fakes out there. So I kinda decided for the grove ones because they are well-known company .What do you say about this? Do you think the grove products are worth it?
Hi Alin 👋 The “Grove Beginners Kit” is very nice, easy and fun to get started with Arduinos - and it has a good price. On the other hand, I think the majority of the Grove Modules on Seeed’s website is expensive for many hobbyists (they are excellent quality). If you are attracted to projects with servos and stepper motors, there are better kits to go into (the Elegoo Kits are nice and full of Modules, but you need to pay more attention to wiring, like most Arduino kits).
I recommend you to start with a Kit that already comes with at least one servo and one stepper motor - and if you enjoy programming/making them work, you can buy lots of cheap servos and stepper motors on AliExpress… I got A LOT of Arduino stuff from AliExpress and the price is impossible to beat (I was lucky so far: everything always worked).
I hope you have fun and learn a lot in your journey!
@@GeekDetour Well thanks for the advice ! I found cheaper servos on Amzon ,because I decided that at the end of the day, they re basicly all the same. One grove servo is 9,50€ which I thought is a bit too expensive as opposed to about 2,50€ for a normal one . I asked you because I know you have expirience with the grove modules ,so thank you again!
Wow😯
😆Thanks! 🥰
Hello can someone inform about the release of this printer ? I can not finde any website to buy this awesome printer . you have any news ? Thanks
Hi there! It was on pre-sale directly on Elegoo’s Website in July… (if I am not mistaken) AND it sold out in days. Now people are beginning to receive their printers. Right now there is no store selling it - it might change in a few weeks I suppose, right after all sold printers are being delivered 🤷♂️
Cool 😎
Thanks! ❤️
you state mars 3 is your first resin printer so who printed the mars 2 stuff?
Hi there! The Mars 3 was the first Resin Printer I used: I unboxed it, printed the Rooks and a few other things… 20 days or so later I received a Voxelab Proxima Mono 2k and I began printing the same models, same resins on both printers, and noticing what was different. This review is the result of 2 months of work.
The Proxima 2k mono is virtually identical to a Mars 2: same number of pixels, build volume, same resolution in microns.
If you have more questions, please, ask! 🤗
Amazing video man ,I m a bit late though.(I was fresh mc )
Thanks! 😄
I loved your video 👏👏👏 it has calmed my craving for a printer 😅 I returned my elegoo mars 2 in June to buy this one and I'm already desperate ... it hasn't reached me yet .... 😭
Hi Abel! Thanks! Where in the world are you? I hope it arrives soon and you can start having fun with it! It is a beautiful printer - you might notice it is quite lighter (well, less metal than the Mars 3, more plastic) but I think the essential parts are well made. The resolution really matters to me.
@@GeekDetour I am from Spain and I bought it on July 26, before I was flirting with the mars 2 ... I printed 3 designs that I designed (a dragon ball cell and a pair of Mandalorian Helmets) this week is my last week of vacation and I feel that I will not be able to dedicate it to printing..😅
So, have you noticed the Z-wobble everyone is talking about. Is it something to worry about, or prevent purchase?
After the first videos mentioning “Z-Wobble”, I saw a guy on Twitter saying that he got curious about his Mars 2 Pro… and he got surprised: hey! It moves too! 😆
Sometimes, in the first 5 layers, when the build plate is flat touching the FEP, it was possible to see some movement, but, really, I had to put a ruller and a pencil glued with tape, trying to see it. To me, people got scared about something normal. The printer is solid nonetheless.
A lot of people received their Mars 3 at this point and nobody is mentioning “Z-Wobble” anymore 😅
@@GeekDetour you have put me at ease. Thank you fellow geek.
Anycubic Photon Ultra or this?
I know the Anycubic Ultra is a DLP printer and it has some attractive features: more silent, low power, longer lifespan (unlike MSLA printers that the LCD last around 2000 hours and need to be replaced). BUT it has a SERIOUS problem to me: Anycubic chose a VERY LOW resolution DMD… it is a 720p mirror, so the voxels will be 80 microns! That’s quite a big pixel. Compare to a Mars 2: 50 microns… and the Mars 3: 35 microns! My choice is clear: resolution matters A LOT. Mars 3, sure! But If you are really betting on the DLP technology, at least wait for the Mars 3 DLP (that will use a 2k DMD, it seems voxels will be 45 microns). Does it make sense?
Looking at this or the Anycubic Mono 4k. The Anycubic is a little bit cheaper.
Sorry for answering so much later - you might have made a decision already 🤷♂️. I watched a few reviews and the Anycubic Mono 4K looks like a very good printer - the only thing that I see as a clear advantage of the Mars 3 is that the printing area is 1cm bigger in all 3 dimensions. It might not seem much but sometimes it is the difference between printing things in the size you need or not 🤷♂️ So, I think bigger is better. But I know, budget counts. Tell me what you chose!
🔥💕😍👍
🥰😘🤗🥳
@@GeekDetour ❣️👍
I wonder why you say not to use the plastic scraper?
This is an EXCELLENT question! ❤️ Thanks! So, the plastic scraper is for you to “clean” the delicate FEP film from pieces of cured resin - like the Rook fail print I had, or parts of prints that broke apart… it happens quite often).
BUT, even when the plastic scraper seems to be smooth, it SCRATCHES the FEP film - and those scratches appear on your prints (mostly on plain surfaces). You can also puncture or tear the FEP film, and you need to replace it right away.
The safer way to clean the FEP film is to use the “Clean” function of the printer, that creates a cured layer that you peal off.
@@GeekDetour Thank you so much for the prompt reply!
In the first 2min of the video, you can see the z-rod rail and assembly, flexing from the base, when he picks it up out of the box, and when he's pulling on the z rod, come on man... But you do actually use the micron resolution and that is rare. The deal killer for me is the forced use of citu box and that is a deal killer for me.
Hi Will! You have a good eye: but that's the terrible plastic folding table from Costco... I almost took that part out of the video because I am talking about it being solid (which it really feels in your hands), and yet, when I watched it when I was editing I realised how terrible the table made it look. Yeah, I hope future versions of the firmware makes it open to other slicers - that's something that can change... people can come up with an open source firmware for it in the future, so, I left it untouched in my video. But, sure, the whole "Resin 3D Printing" space is VERY proprietary... It desperately needs an "open source" surge, like what we have in the FDM world.
Off topic question- do you aftually make add revenue or any kind of sponsorship revenue? Theese things are not cheap and I was just wondering
Hi Alin! My pleasure to tell you about it: sure, I make videos professionally, so, they need to “make money” somehow.
The more views my videos get, the more ad-revenue I receive. BUT, to be profitable, a video should get at least hundreds of thousands of views. So far, this video is video is having a “sad start” 😆
I also participate on Amazon affiliated program, so if people buy things after clicking on the affiliate links I put in the description, I usually get a commission.
I never made a Sponsorship so far (brand paying me money for a video to be done) - although, today, that would be the best deal for any UA-camr. Ad revenue is not what it used to be.
The printer was sent by Elegoo for me to review. I didn’t pay for the printer. They didn’t pay for my opinion nor had any editorial control over what I would say about it.
Do you have more questions? 😄
@@GeekDetour Wow ,interesting. But how did you get eleegoo to send you such an expensive printer for free?
Oh, you are interested in the “free stuff” 🤣 There is no such thing, you know?! Alright: my first review of an Elegoo product was this:
Official Arduino Kit VS Elegoo Kit
ua-cam.com/video/uzr-jrLU3EU/v-deo.html
…which I made exactly like so many reviews before: I made a video about something I bought myself and liked.
Elegoo eventually discovered that video and asked me if I would like to review a Balance Robot Kit:
ua-cam.com/video/8isSQfe7Qa0/v-deo.html
So, that was the first electronics I got to review without buying it myself. But you see: it was kind of lucky - I made quite a few reviews before… you never know when/if some brand will eventually reach you.
And later on, they offered me to review the Mars 3.
Two other printer manufacturers also sent me their printers for reviewing and I am working on those videos.
I told you that “nothing is free” because, at least in my case, the amount of days I put into every video I produce surpasses BY FAR the cost of those products even if I consider my time on minimum wage. That’s a choice I make to ensure the videos will be unique and interesting.
Because of this, I am getting A LOT of requests from companies to review their stuff - good part of it is not interesting AT ALL. Stuff I would never buy myself - so I decline or simply ignore.
Does it make sense?
1st viewer ig
Hey! You are here again 😄 Awesome!
@@GeekDetour haha Yeah I am back 😉
I feel like u forgot to mention the software lock on this device cause it sucksssss
Hi Kristian! Sure, it would be better if it accepted files sliced on any slicer. I didn’t mention because A LOT of UA-camrs already explained it quite extensively AND this is something that can change. I don’t feel much affected: Chitubox works fine for me.
What amazes me is how almost all resin printers are based on Chitu Sustems boards. This is so different than the FDM universe. But this is a discussion for another video.
how the hell update the firmware??? i can find data!! healp!!!
On Elegoo’s website there are instructions for updating the firmware of the Mars 3 - but I didn’t find them “cristal clear”, so, I didn’t risk updating mine yet 😬 Updating firmware is serious business, I will only do it when I feel a good reason to do it 🤷♂️ Luckily, it will be simple 🤞
Anycubic M3 for 260 pounds, or the Elegoo Mars 3 Pro for 335 pounds? Thoughts? 😁
Hi Lucas! I never used an Anycubic printer - I think the Mars 3 Pro with the fresnel lens is awesome 😄 I am an Elegoo fanboy - you need to find someone who owns both to give you a solid comparison.
É nóis!
Nice prints but i give Phrozen winner because the Sonic mini 4k is a more than a year printer. And in this industry 1,5 years is a lot. Elegoo just catch up phrozen, they didn't release a printer with better performance or new functionnality. I will give all my favor to elegoo when it will release their promised dlp printer version with a serious resolution not like anycubic did with their 720p DMD chip. An affordable DLP desktop printer will be very innovative because phrozen already released their 8k with 22um resolution.
I agree with you that Phrozen is pushing the tech ahead of competitors. BUT, the prices were also higher / and in the case of the Sonic Mini 4K they had a quality control issue with part of the printers having a Z-Thread wobbleness. Elegoo launched the Mars 3 at a lower price and I think they will popularize 35 microns.
Sure, 2k DLP will be awesome, I am also very curious to see that!
@@GeekDetour Do you know the release date of the mars 3 DLP?
@@ga9098 Elegoo, as I write this, did NOT announce a release date yet…
100th comment yay
is it toxic?
Yes, 3D Printing Resins are toxic before they are cured. Resin Printing requires some care: you need to use disposable gloves, you use IPA alcohol to clean the prints (so, very flammable), the resin fumes are lung irritating and you should have a well ventilated area and/or use a mask with filters for chemicals.
You should not dispose uncured resin and also never throw it down the drain.
Some people discover they are allergic to the resin and it irritates their skin even with gloves. Some people don’t use gloves (not recommend) and nothing happens to their skin (visibly, god know what happens long term).
Resin 3D printing is amazing, but it involves a lot of care and safety precautions.
FDM (filament) printing is far simpler and safer in terms of chemicals.
If you want to learn about the resins:
