So glad Rayna's back! It's always good to know how to add flash to window light. Your Premium Courses have some excellent flash tutorials. I re-watch them often. Thanks!
Helo Andrew, Thank you for amazing vid! Really learned a lot,you are the best. I have a dream of visiting Malaysia,i hope to join your photography workshop when i am there soon. By the way i have one question for you today,at 4:25 of the video, what umbrella is your assistant carrying?i have never seen those small umbrellas, what size is it and where can i find it to purchase it? Can you please let me know Thank you again for great video I love your videos a lot, they are so so good👍
@Beyond Photography, great video as always. Would the same principals apply if using a flash attached to the camera and bouncing it or using the reflector card?
It is basically a universal handle grip with a flash swivel mounted on top. Similar to this: www.amazon.com/ChromLives-Handle-Grip-Handlegrip-Stabilizer/dp/B07332SM8W/ref=sr_1_5?crid=15UOAV2GO4TA1&keywords=universal+handle+grip+photography&qid=1676960880&sprefix=universal+handle+grip+photograp%2Caps%2C296&sr=8-5
one thing in advance = imo photography is basically very simple and not "rocket science" = just take photos and if you like them then everything, especially the settings, is "right" at the moment and everything else is completely unimportant the only post-processing that I do is that I determine the final image section depending on my taste, i.e. whether and how I crop them ... I immediately delete photos that I don't like when making the final selection at home there are no fixed recommendations for settings in real life, not even during the current shooting, because in real life light situations out there are always individual and constantly changing ... take the settings where you like the current results on the camera monitor for instance and those are exactly the "right" ones at this moment ... only your personal taste and your expectations of the photos determine which settings are currently the "right" ones, nothing else !! ... the only exception might be if you have full control of the lighting yourself, for example in the studio when using speedlight or flash, only then could you follow any suitable recommendations from other photographers and adopt them if you like their results, but even that rarely works ... but I, for example, always do my own thing not only in my (!) photography ... AND the most import aspect = the more you photograph and practice and gain experience, the faster and more routinely you will get the results you like, regardless of any other photographer's settings ... these "foreign" settings can perhaps only be a rough first orientation aid, but otherwise they are completely unimportant for your own current situation and your own taste in my photrography the "+/- metering compensation" for the camera in any automatic mode and the "+/- flash compensation" for the speedlights in TTL mode (the best mode for my taste) have become my "best friends", so get used to both and learn when and how to use them properbly as easy and quick-to-use tools for your own photography, that`s the only advice I would give
@@clementj789 You're very welcome ... I'm happy if my humble experiences could help you ... and yes, that's what the community on UA-cam is for, to help each other and share experiences, we can all benefit from that imo especially here on UA-cam, a lot of "photography explainers" like to say or convey the impression that you only need to adopt their settings and you would get comparably good results, but no, that's not how it usually works in photography because personal situations are in reality too different, especially in terms of the current lighting situation and many other aspects, but you have to understand everything for yourself first, especially when you start with photography and still have little experience if you are unsure in a situation which settings might be best, then simply take several photos with different settings and one of them will fit ... modern cameras can make exposure bracketing picture series independently, both with and without speedlight, look it up in the camera menu and in the operating instructions and use this awesome function if needed, it can sometimes be very helpful and is quick ... and believe me professionals do it that way either in some situations, they all only cook with water and none of them reinvent the basics of photography, not even in the modern digital age, even if some would like to convey this impression I started my photography in the 1980s and even back then, in the analog age, the basics of photography were exactly the same as they are today in the digital age, also in terms of the problems and their solutions, only the technical tools were a little different, but today these digital technical tools are much simpler, faster and easy to use in most cases "only" in terms of creativity and the courage to break new ground, then we can learn from each other and also from professionals and collect and try out new ideas to make our own photography more interesting and exciting and that is more than enough your most important companion will be a small notebook in which you can write down such settings and the situations in which you used them to learn from these notes when comparing these photos at home I wish you a lot of fun with your own photography, be brave and creative and do your own thing, then you will also find your own style and that is exactly what makes your photos unique and something special ... and keep in mind, there are no fixed rules, only your own, ok, apart from a few purely technical rules but they are not difficult to understand either ... this is exactly what makes photography such a great and creative hobby and passion
@Jürgen Kaßnitz Also, when I take portraits during the daytime at F2.8, ISO 100, and SS 1/4000, I still find it is overexposed. What shall I do here? And when using flash during the day, shall I slightly underexpose?
@Jürgen Kaßnitz This is the best piece I've read and the best advice I started photography in January to make money. But now I no longer care about money. I'm now after creativity. The money should be the reward.
