I bought a Nikon D80 in 2007 because it had TTL! I’ve never had serious frame-to-frame differences on any of the 4 cameras with TTL that I have owned, but I shoot in raw and need to edit anyway. The pre-flash causes each flash to go off at different times so the camera can command the actual flash to fire at the required power. Joe McNally’s book “Hot Shoe Diaries” gives really valuable info on how he got fabulous TTL shots.

Under the conditions shown here outside, I would use a beauty dish with a grid or diffuser instead of an umbrella, so that significantly more flash light goes to the model and is not wasted, and the photos then appear a bit richer in contrast.
But my favorite EDC light former especially when shooting outside and mobile with one main speedlite is the "Lastolite Joe McNally Ezybox Speedlite Plus Diffusor Softbox" + small grip (see the matching videos on "Vimeo").
The pre-flash in TTL mode "only" serves to measure the flash light exposure and/or to control the TTL flash(es) used when using the built-in camera flash or a TTL on camera flash, both as a "master", it has no influence on the end result in the photos. The camera and TTL flashes communicate with each other via this pre-flash, if you want to put it that way.
I`m a huge fan of speedlites and flash photography since I started my hobby photography in the 1980s, nearly 80% of my photography is with speedlites. I`m a so-called "strobist" and a bit influenced by Joe McNally of course and David Hobby, Damien Lovegrove, Michael Zelbel and Daniel Norton.
Basically, I've nearly always been taking my flash photos in iTTL mode (Nikon) for years, regardless of whether with one or more flashes (sometimes up to 9 speedlites in 3 groups), with or without light formers, color foils, etc.
I sometimes use the manual flash mode under studio-like conditions in my living room studio and/or more under constant conditions that I can influence at any time.
TTL flash makes flash photography uncomplicated, fast and efficient, I don't want to do without it anymore. I control the individual power output of the flashes individually via the "+/-" flash compensation. Using a matching TTL radio trigger system is imo the most efficient and safest way to go under all conditions, depending on the brand and perfect conditions it can reach nearly up to 100 meters, I tested it myself with my system (Yongnuo).

Now I’m confused. In TTL, the setting are automatic? In Manuel i set the power as in 1/16 or 1/32, if i go back to TTL, will those setting of power change. I just want/need fast recycle time for flash.

TTL power based on lens distance bro, the flash next to you is metering it correctly while the flash from behind (closed to subject) has to be -1 or -2 because its fire the same output on the main flash.

as often the brand doesn`t matter, any cheap 39/40” or smaller shoot-through umbrella will do, buy the cheapest you can find ... even expensive umbrellas break at some point or become unusable because of dirt if you use them intensively under all conditions or if you don`t treat your gear like a princess, with inexpensive ones bying a new one doesn't hurt the wallet so much ... my tip: buy two, as a replacement or for you and your model when it starts raining outside while shooting

In this case, I see no point in using TTL since your subject is static. The output power of TTL will change constantly. This can be confusing for beginners. It is more accurate and understandable to use manual mode. For such planned portrait photoshoot, it makes more sense to use manual mode. Why use TTL with constantly changing output power if your subject is not moving? Using TTL is a bit like using auto white balance, resulting in inconsistent colors from frame to frame. TTL mode is more suitable for mobile and event type photography because your subject will keep moving. Sorry to say. Everytime I come across this channel, I always feel that beginners will take many detours and walk a long way before reaching the end.

To prefer TTL or manual flash is sometimes more of a question of faith and much discussed. IMO both have a benefit, everything is always appropriate for the purpose. For example, Joe McNally, also not unknown, says he prefers to use the iTTL mode, because it can make life easier, as do many other professionals. But yes, whoever uses speelites often should know and be able to use both modes, this is good for the learning curve and for understanding flash photography.
