Appreciate the total story with the mess-ups included and options for fixing or distracting away from them. As a beginner painter, one of the hardest obstacles at the moment are mistakes and keeping them from ruining the mojo of that particular session. Currently painting some Maschinen Krieger in white and didn't know what I got myself into until I was multiple base layers in and things started to get funky.
Mistakes are the most important part of the process as long as you learn from them. They're not something to be worried about😊and practice makes perfect...good luck, buddy😊

Thanks dude, and thank you so much for your support! I love their minis, they're very delicate though, so maybe one of the more chunky pieces/vehicles would be a good idea.
Thanks so much, dude! We'll get to this it is a properly tricky idea though as the best ork skin has about 500 nuance colours in the shadows and highlights😊
Big like from me Byron !! This is quality and I like how you left the mistakes in and how you dealt with them... The Artis Opus brushes look great, I keep thinking about getting some, but am worried about how long they might last.....
Not something you need to worry about dude. You will occasionally see my brushes on the channel with no text on the handles. These are from our alpha batch and they're over 2 years old looked after carefully, you can expect to get from them 1000 and 2000 points out of every brush the important thing is to avoid overly saturating them with too much wet paint that should be easy with the dampening pad though. Let us know if you have any issues😊
My series D brushes just arrived. Oh my word, the quality is insane of every aspect of this package! Before I bought them I thought the price was a little steep, but now I have them in my hands I would be willing to pay a hell of a lot more. Highly recommended! Also great videos you’ve improved my painting so much. Keep up the good work mate!
Thanks so much for your kind words and support, dude! You wait until you've used them a bit more. In my experience, the love only grows as you become more familiar with your tools. we'll carry on making videos if you carry on enjoying them😊
Gonna ask my standard question, when will you tackle some orks? Want to see your take on a great Waaaagh! :P Also, brush care question if you don't mind? On my size 4 Series S brush I've got a couple of stray hairs that curl off to the side even though the rest is in a beautiful point - is there a way to bring them back in when they've really curled away or should I just take my clippers to those couple of hairs so the rest is perfect? It's one of my absolute favourite brushes, use it on most things and I don't wanna ruin it...
Personally, I'd take clippers or a very sharp knife and cut off the hairs as close to the ferrule as possible. Size 4 is also my favourite from the S, I use it for everything🤩Orks are high on the list, they're just gonna need lots of off-camera experimentation and figuring out. I believe green skin done right has quite a lot of nuance,
the edge highlighting is crisp! Lets have a series... call it... bonkers Byron where you just experiment with crazy ideas. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt hahah
Good question, there are 2 fast methods: 1) dark metal followed by a white metal within 2) a later colour of your armour e.g grey for black followed by a darker colour within this.😊
Was wondering. You tinted the white with some blueish, but said it could be done with a brownish tone instead. What if you instead of apothecary white used skeleton horde and then dry brushed it up to a white for the more dirty finish?
Totally agree with you on posing the mini. Too many "gun in front of chest" poses in marines unfortunately. Good timing and tons of neat tricks as always, I've got a sanguinary priest lined up for painting and it feels like a good test subject for the cool white + warm red scheme ^^
You're most welcome dude, thanks for your support! I always think that things I find the hardest are the ones that can offer the most insight because I am basically just passing on my learning experiences😊
Hey, looks good man! I usually just resort to good ol' Vallejo Deck Tan and highlight with proper white, but with the chipping, have you tried using a sponge and pencil? Sponge on some (in this case) white, then use a soft, sharp pencil to fill in some of the chips, lots of tiny chips can be more subtle and give more of a worn appearance than bigger ones do, plus the pencil really speeds things up!
Yeah, I really love sponges but definitely haven't used pencils, apart from very small experiments. I found their result can be a bit too subtle so they probably need to go over a dark base only... so within chipping perhaps on a White Scar😊
@@ArtisOpus silver pencils work great for weathering/metal chipping. Use them as sharp as possible then, matt varnish or it Will all be gone if you even touch it. But give it a try, i could have shown you pitcures if it was possible !
Love the vids and tutorials very helpful.... Was wondering what is the brand of paints you use that you think give the best coverage , best pigments and leave a good blend transition between shadows and highlights Cheers Steve from Ozz
