He can dance. He can sing. He can do Shakespeare. He can juggle. He can do anything. They made him do THIS?
This is pretty awful writing, lol.
Yup. I’m here too.
At least he got to sing!
I share your pain
And he won that year. (1991, Lead Actor, REVERSAL OF FORTUNE)
Not at me still simping for Jeremy Irons in 2021. He is my childhood crush 😭
And a damn good actor!
Been doing it since 94, will be doing it forever, apparently 😂
Me too, I was shook that he was Scar, How hadn’t I noticed it before😂
He is still my crush at 36 years old.
Me, now, in 2023.
It is rare to still find people like him.
A person who has become 'A legend', who has never lost self-irony and humility.
Just watched an interview on Seth Meyers with Bob Odenkirk who wrote the monologue. He said Irons hated it.
good on all involved.
Who’s here after the Bob Odenkirk Howard Stern interview?
I'm surprised he did the monologue they wrote. I assumed he would've made them change it (I didn't hear the Stern/Odenkirk interview but heard about this)
Me!
Me!!
Me
@@DJMS1986 It likely would've be difficult to impossible to have written something else that would've satisfied him more by that point since the monologue is often the last thing to be written after a week of rehearsals.
He has a great voice
He can read me the Yellow Pages any day.
He's so hot
He's the more british and underrated version of Daniel day Lewis
@@polarisnorth4875 Leah never said Daniel wasn't.
Yeah, I much prefer Mr. Irons though.
Go check out Bob Odenkirk on Stern recently. He said Jeremy Irons was pretty pissed at him and Rob Schneider for sticking him with this monologue.
I'm here from that. haha
lol He's right, that monologue did suck.
Yes, I had to check it out after hearing that interview. Of course, I think MOST of the SNL monologues are terrible. This one isn't the worst I've heard. I did see one of the skits Jeremy Irons did once on this episode and it was so awful that I thought he must've been one of the unfunniest hosts ever, and he's actually one of my favorite actors.
@@SonicCloudLink lol Updated it to this cornfest about his Oscar nomination? Lol Then how bad was it before?
Screamed at him. Irons does look really awkward here hahaha
He's now having the age of my grandpa but gosh I'm so infatuated by him... please send help
Omg me too, he is so old and yet so alluring.
Help is on the way Janet.
Bro same😭
The struggle is real, i’m having a jeremy irons summer
You’re not alone, dude’s one of my favorite actors of all time
What a King 😂😂. Love Jeremy Irons. Most iconic voice ever.
Long live the King
OH LORD! I adore this man! He's ruled my universe since I was 16 (I'm now 43)
Such a light accent , look how deep and calming his voice is ! great great voice !
I'm here from the Bob Odenkirk story about this monologue; look it up sometime! Gonna check out the Fishbone performance next because that band is fucking awesome!
knowing the story behind this
knowing that Jeremy literally screamed at bob and rob about how shitty this monologue is
and he is still funny
he looks pissed 😂
It's pretty shitty though....
i love him so much.
There's enough extra cloth in that suit and coat to make them for two more people. 90s style was truly it's own thing.
Haha, love it. A whole lot.
I truly find oversized clothing way more flattering (and sexy for that matter) than tailored pieces. I don’t know why that is. Sort of nonchalentness abt it
There should be a movie about Scar...doing nothing but talk about life.
Yes I would definitely watch that!
Hehehe
I recall with huge respect Mr Irons' courtesy and innate decency in replying to my "pitch" about a character in an
on spec script I had written. He could easily have ignored my contact or diverted it elsewhere but he did not.
Top class..
He was so hot in Lolita
RIGHT. I need to find myself a Jeremy Irons.
You should watch him in "DEAD RINGERS". He plays identical twins.
Ya the actor was hot and a great actor, but he was playing a pedophile. I don't think you should be specifying how "hot" he was in Lolita when his character was literally a rapist lol
@@janellekent7081is it scary ??
And he won that Oscar after all, so the pitch must have worked (though he later said he thought he really deserved it for Dead Ringers instead).
Anyone else here after Bob mentioned the monologue on Seth Meyers?
He’s so beautiful
That voice of his! And he's so handsome 😍
I‘m glad he won.
Well I guess he didn't jinx it, seeing that he won...
Three years later, Irons would become famous voicing a certain villain who was parodied in Journey to the Disney Vault.
Who is here because of the Bob Odenkirk’s interview on Seth Meyers?
I love both Max and Jeremy Irons
I want him
Sameeeeee
The monologue I never thought I needed
Literally here because of the Odenkirk interview on Howard Stern.
Love you Jeremy
It would've been funny if he was actually acting in this monologue. You can tell he's not into it and is just reading cue cards. Good acting would've made the difference between this dud and an actual funny opening, imo.
I guess everyone will soon flock to this clip after reading that Jeremy YELLED at (former SNL writer) Bob Odenkirk because Irons considered this an unfunny and terrible monlogue.
심쿵...발음도심쿵...
Love you Jeremy irons
I never knew this BAMF hosted SNL! Thank you, God 😊
He is SOOO charming
I hear Scar's voice coming out of his mouth. That shows that's he is an amazing actor.
It’s honestly quite fun imagining him say these things. They designed Scar after him after all
Oh, did they? I thought Scar was designed after a Shakespeare villain.
He has zero nerves, all confidence.
That was a solidly funny monologue. Surprised he was upset with Bob about it.
If anything he fucked it up not Bob. The premise is hilarious.
I think it's that the idea is funny on its own and the props do all the comedy. It could have been any actor and all said actor would need to do is hold up playing it straight. He was probably hoping for something that would allow him to actually act and get laughs by playing against type. After all, Jeremy Irons has a great type to play off of!
Tremendous actor. Such intelligence and wit. And the voice, of course ;)
He doesn't SEEM pissed at Odenkirk....
I think he looks more attractive now than he does here. Men truly do get better looking with age
I made an anagram: Jeremy’s Iron
웃을 때 ㅈㄴ 사랑스럽다
Big fan of this guy!
Bob Odenkirk sent me here.
The most iconic voice in all of Disney history seriously He is the one and only true Scar without doubt!
He used that same stutter in Die Hard. Both times were not believable.
yeah they were both really forced
at least in die hard it made more sense as the guy was a psycho😊
I went to High School with a guy who looked exactly like Jeremy Irons. He used to drive me nuts. Nice bloke, but he always had a girlfriend.
In this case, you better not call saul
It was not as bad as I thought it would be after watching the Bob Odenkirk interview.
Jeremy Irons és un gran actor soy mucho fã 👏👏👏👏🥰🥰
Bob Odenkirk's story brought me here.
You can tell pulling comedy out of him is like pulling teeth.
Had to see this after hearing Bob Odenkirk’sr description on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Jeremy did win the Oscar, BtW.
„…and Fishbone is here“, and then some 30 seconds of the most glorious awkward silence.
Bob odenkirk was yelled at for writing this monologue
i need him in my beain
Humbert Humbert.
doctor Fleming
Thank you bob odenkirk
Holy Shit Fishbone!
One week later, the academy award goes too…..
Bob Odenkirk tells a story on talk shows about writing this monologue, which Jeremy Irons absolutely hated. They made him do it anyway. 😂
here after hearing Bob Odenkirk describing how much Irons hated this monologue they wrote for him
I’m in love with him. Sorry
Why are you sorry?
Don't apologize for your love! Be FREE!
Bob and Rob really screwed the pooch
Just raw doging the air
Szuper, nagyon jó.
Can we have him back? Maybe just one more time?
Baba Fooey brought me here!
Scar from The Lion King
Old SNL is BEST SNL
Not Bob Odenkirk’s finest hour.😝
These feel like Mr Show jokes
He was right. It sucked.
The Lion King, The Flash & The Beekeeper.
4 people didn't do as Simon says!
Seth Meyers brought me here!!!!!
Oh the good old days of giant floating suits when men knew what comfort meant
1:58 I didn't know he stuttered cool
This is the sketch Odenkirk and Conan O’Brien wrote for him and Irons flipped out on the bad writing to the writers. lol
No heat in the studio or is the coat an affectation?
*Rather embarrassing! How much did they PAY him? Bangkok-Johnny*
Actuh
Irons was right... that monologue was weak.
Damn I can’t believe he did this and they did all the props, I hate him and his stuttering
Tbf Jeremy Irons has a point... It was a pretty weak open.
Men's suits were SO much more attractive then. They are hideous now, and unflattering to all men, especially if they're over or underweight.
I know why your here.
😰
So shakespearian
ua-cam.com/video/TM2TclUVBiQ/v-deo.html Jeremy Irons yelled at Bob Odenkirk for how lame this monologue was
Not a brilliant monologue indeed… Jeremy has right! He seems to be annoyed… 😂 but he was sooooo damn hot ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bob Odenkirk wrote this opening monologue and said Jeremy Irons was not happy about it lmao. He talked about it on Stern- ua-cam.com/video/TM2TclUVBiQ/v-deo.html
Tragic and incredibly embarrising in later years one would think old bean!
petewoodroffemusic how dare you sir?
He really is the best actor ever period.
