    Hi Dr Ed,
I want to thank you for all of the videos that you post. I had put out a question to you yesterday, but continued looking until I found this one! Thanks!
This particular video answers one of my specific questions regarding a small pension that I started receiving when I turned 70. I didn’t even know that I had anything coming to me until the company that I worked for over 30 years ago gave me a call and let me know.
So happy that it will not affect my SS!

I have a small SERS retirement pension. My ex-husband has Social Security that I am entitled to when I retire. However, Social Security will take 2/3 of whatever I get from my ex-husband‘s retirement. I did work outside the school system here and there and I did pay in Social Security over the years but I don’t qualify for any of that Social Security back. How will I ever survive once I retire?

I had a small IRA from my work in education that I had to pay a windfall on about 10 years ago , it will be ending next year. Will it make a difference in the amount of Social Security I receive going forward?

I enjoy your videos with their real-life examples and solid answers. I wonder if some people think the 13% reduction you talk about is additional or coming in the future. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's been known for years (1983) and has already been baked into any SS benefit estimate you get. Sure I'd like more $$, but it is what it is and no point lamenting what it could have been and causing unneeded angst in folks.

I agree. However, politicians are talking about doing it again, so I think it's important to make people aware of all the repercussions.

If losing an Advantage plan because of moving to another state, can I be disqualified for supplemental insurance in the new state of residence because of pre-existing conditions?

Might depend about the state. MA seemed to allow you to switch without underwriting.

If I stop working Dec 2024 with work related benefits that will stop. When I start Medicare part B, I heard you say previously we must stop HSA 6 months prior to having part B (just heard that). What happens now if I haven’t stopped my HSA until Oct

I don't know if Dr Weir comes back to answer questions on past posts after the live vid ends. I'm not expert but I THINK you have to stop HSA 6 months prior to starting Medicare.. You may want to subscribe and get notified of next live vid and re-ask this question during that video.

The Social Security benefits and the pensions should be two separate entities. They shouldn't deduct anything you've earned in your pension because you're on Social Security. You paid equally in both of them.

@@bethh4271 I 100% understand as I've done the same. His vids like this fairly well all start at 5pm for me and even though I have notifications, I'm still late to most. He is the best for honest, accurate info...and I'm betting he has a past vid devoted to HSA. If you can't catch a live, put HSA in the search and you very well may find definite answer.

The cola came out. 3.2 % is nothing. So where do they get these numbers because the politicians are not present in any of this. We only here about it, but the amount of the cola is low.. for 2024.

Hello I have pension from working 35 years in school as custodian.
