I remember Jesse, JP, Adam Koebel, and inControl talking about this on the old Fandom episode they did for Force Awakens. If I remember correctly, the consensus is that Maul is cool, and his lightsaber fight is wonderfully choreographed, but he has almost no lines or screentime in the movie and, outside of the fight, is a boring one dimensional sub-antagonist.(Not counting Robo-legs Maul in this) The fight being at the very end tricks the viewer into forgetting about the rest of the glaring problems the movie had.

I... liked the prequels. As a teenager at the time, it made me realise politics and current affairs aren't just 'boring old-people stuff', but that I should keep myself informed and not take my right to vote for granted. Also, as someone who came from a LOTR fandom where we revere Tolkien as the God he is, I was pretty shocked to see all the hate towards Lucas.
Hell I like the Prequels...thanks in part to the Clone Wars cartoon series, which thanks to that filling in most of the gaps has made the movies more enjoyable....while the sequels only continue to get worse each week.
The overall plot of the prequels was pretty solid. Excellent mastermind-ing by Palps and the politics were legit. But they were just presented so badly. The dialogue was probably the real killer, but the special effects were a bit overdone. I don't know how an evil genius masterminding both sides of a war as part of a decades-long plan to destroy his jedi rivals and get himself elected as galactic emperor (and get people to like it!) was made boring... but somehow they made that boring.
You do get Lucas purists in the star wars fandom but unlike with the Tolkien fans the Lucas purists completely ignore the contributions made by others towards star wars (except the guy who did clone wars and rebels but they completely forget that a lot of what made the original trilogy great didn't come from Lucas or was because he was restricted by the technology at the time so had to work around those restrictions making a more grounded scene that works better than what he originally intended). Also unfortunately for the few that aren't a lot of the Lucas purists are the same group of people who are super toxic (like get annoyed about rey and that a woman had purple hair and somehow completely misunderstood TLJ because they either don't understand how stories work or went in wanting to hate it) and hate literally everything post Disney. They are also contradictory normally old expanded universe purists. As for the prequels, I love what Lucas was trying to say but he completely failed in the execution and really needed someone else working with him to pull him back and focus on the right things (not advertising his special effects company, which is what the films feel like sometimes) and also help him with names and dialogue and story structure (episode 2 should have episode 1, everything has to be reestablished in the second film and it means that everything important to the plot is rushed, we get a beginning and an end with none of the development).

John Tucker He is over 900 years old. I am sure that some of them is fun to watch, and others boring. But it aint gonna happen, Lucas wanted him to a mysterius charrecter, and is making sure that almost all non canon about him keeps in line of some guidelines.
I really hate people who hate george lucas. I mean, if it wasn't for him there wouldn't even be such thing as star wars, a movie that everybody adores, he might have ruined it with the prequels, but not with the originals. Episode 4 and 6 were amazing and it was mainly made by Lucas, I've seen documentaries of how they did it and george just did everything to make them perfect, and they were. Try to praise for what he has created and not hating him just for the prequels.
You do know that it was a collective effort. If there were no people controlling his actions back then, then things would not be the same way, like, the character's conceptual faces, etc. There was a time when he had a complete control of the series, when everyone was afraid of correcting him because "he's George Lucas", and that's the prequels.
Fernando Sosa he is responsible for the idea but not getting and keeping the ball rolling. If George had the same control he had on the prequels with the original Star Wars. That movie would have been a horrible mess and be another B grade sci-fi movie that will only be remembered by die hard film historians and sci-fi film enthusiasts. That movie was saved by the editors including Georges wife at the time. Empire was directed and written by different people and I believe George was just a producer and it's no surprise that it's considered the best in the franchise. Just because he's responsible for that spark doesn't put him on a pedistal. He is just a man. A man with good ideas and flops them when he doesn't have a collaborative team of talented people
George Lucas is a genius. The prequels were flawed because he isn't the best at every single thing, but storytelling and world building are what he's great at. All the flaws of the prequels could have been worked out with more collaborations like the OT. That being said, besides Midichlorians, some of the dialogue and stuff like that, the prequels were actually good. Genuinely star wars unlike the sequel trilogy.
I don't like Jar-Jar because I find him just as annoying all the other characters do. I get that he's supposed to be a comic relief character, but I don't find him funny. And if a comic relief character isn't funny, that defeats the entire point of them. Then all you're left with is an annoying character.

The prequels brought new technologies, planets, characters, stories. The era is simply amazing. The Disney sequels on the other hand didn’t bring nothing new, the same technologies as the OT, the same story and plot as the OT, the same Darth Vader but a substantial downgrade, the same planets with different names, the same rebels, the same death star which could be considered technical, the same story troopers, the same tie fighters, the same x wings (which are all the same technologies)... and on top of that we get politics such as identity politics shoved down our throats, Rey no backstory, no training, gets everything handed to her, no flaws. The main villain is a child in a mask, and the first order isn’t intimidating. Also we get no backstory to the first order and how they rose to power.

What fundamental blasphemy Is this even a question? It is absolutely undeniable how low Star Wars has sunk without George. The reason Rogue One and the Mandalorian work is because guys like Gareth Edwards, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are disciples of Lucas and make a conscious efforts to make Star Wars that they think George would want to see. They're the ones keeping George's Star Wars alive, despite Disney's best efforts to kill it with the sequel trilogy.

So many people forgive the prequels because its been the general consensus for so long... Absolutely the amount of apologists popping up feels like gaslighting, but it’s honestly just kids who grew up with those movies and had their parents mythologize the OGs so they identified with the prequels and any attack against them is a personal attack. The sequels aren't agenda driven, they're trying to make a disney princess (Rey) in their films and romanticize them with Kylo, like Pirates of the Carribbean did with Will and Elizabeth. I really hate people who hate george lucas. I mean, if it wasn't for him there wouldn't even be such thing as star wars, a movie that everybody adores, he might have ruined it with the prequels, but not with the originals. Episode 4 and 6 were amazing and it was mainly made by Lucas, I've seen documentaries of how they did it and george just did everything to make them perfect, and they were. Try to praise for what he has created and not hating him just for the prequels.
You do know that it was a collective effort. If there were no people controlling his actions back then, then things would not be the same way, like, the character's conceptual faces, etc. There was a time when he had a complete control of the series, when everyone was afraid of correcting him because "he's George Lucas", and that's the prequels.

Fernando Sosa he is responsible for the idea but not getting and keeping the ball rolling. If George had the same control he had on the prequels with the original Star Wars. That movie would have been a horrible mess and be another B grade sci-fi movie that will only be remembered by die hard film historians and sci-fi film enthusiasts. That movie was saved by the editors including Georges wife at the time. Empire was directed and written by different people and I believe George was just a producer and it's no surprise that it's considered the best in the franchise. Just because he's responsible for that spark doesn't put him on a pedistal. He is just a man. A man with good ideas and flops them when he doesn't have a collaborative team of talented people
George Lucas is a genius. The prequels were flawed because he isn't the best at every single thing, but storytelling and world building are what he's great at. All the flaws of the prequels could have been worked out with more collaborations like the OT. That being said, besides Midichlorians, some of the dialogue and stuff like that, the prequels were actually good. Genuinely star wars unlike the sequel trilogy.

I don't like Jar-Jar because I find him just as annoying all the other characters do. I get that he's supposed to be a comic relief character, but I don't find him funny. And if a comic relief character isn't funny, that defeats the entire point of them. Then all you're left with is an annoying character.

The prequels brought new technologies, planets, characters, stories. The era is simply amazing. The Disney sequels on the other hand didn’t bring nothing new, the same technologies as the OT, the same story and plot as the OT, the same Darth Vader but a substantial downgrade, the same planets with different names, the same rebels, the same death star which could be considered technical, the same story troopers, the same tie fighters, the same x wings (which are all the same technologies)... and on top of that we get politics such as identity politics shoved down our throats, Rey no backstory, no training, gets everything handed to her, no flaws. The main villain is a child in a mask, and the first order isn’t intimidating. Also we get no backstory to the first order and how they rose to power.

The cgi for the time was great (especially from episode 2 which is still alright today and from episode 3 which many still see as good nearly 15 years after release), the choreography was astounding with fast and fluid lightsaber battles (whoch actually felt like jedi _masters_ fighting), the acting was also on point (acting is not just dialogue but also showing emotion, choreography and very important: emotions)

It is absolutely undeniable how low Star Wars has sunk without George.
The reason Rogue One and the Mandalorian work is because guys like Gareth Edwards, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are disciples of Lucas and make a conscious efforts to make Star Wars that they think George would want to see.
They're the ones keeping George's Star Wars alive, despite Disney's best efforts to kill it with the sequel trilogy.

So many people forgive the prequels because its been the general consensus for so long... Its been memes and criticise to hell and now people pretend it was the last masterpiece before disney took over.

Absolutely the amount of apologists popping up feels like gaslighting, but it’s honestly just kids who grew up with those movies and had their parents mythologize the OGs so they identified with the prequels and any attack against them is a personal attack. But I’m starting to go too long and probably look like some prequel hater but honestly I love every movie flaws and all; even Rise of Sky and Phantom are both equally fun and entertaining.

@@Jason-El rebels quality is debatable at best, rouge one was only good at the end, mandolorian was great, and clone wars season seven was great, but Disney basically had gold handed to them with that. The they made the last Jedi and rise of skywalker so you know Disney still suck at Star Wars. Like they ruin character people loved and when fans complained they were called sexist and white supremacist and they invalidated Vader’s sacrifice and basically tilted everything in reys favor.
