Easily the coolest RC video I've ever seen. Well done for all involved. Trust me, that took some real skill and preparation to pull off. Carry on, gentlemen!
Thank you, years ago one of my great uncles was an infantryman in a glider although I always thought they were towed by an aircraft. Watching this and seeing that maybe he wasn't towed but literally lifted up underneath another plane gives me a whole new appreciation for how he and his comrades must have felt. Thank you so much for this, very interesting and informative.
Thank you very much. Please be aware that in History this was only experimetal, not operational. The DFS230 asault glider was tested in Mistel-configuration together with Klemm 35, Focke Wulf FW-56- Stösser and finally with Messerschmitt BF-109.
That is really impressive. Makes me wonder who is controlling it - the glider pilot or the airplane pilot - or it is a coordination between the pilots?
Hello and thank you so much for your kind comments on this project. Only the glider is controlling the flight until the separation. We stay close together and talk to each other, who does what and when. The separation is the ecxiting moment, therfore it should fly evenly and straight
Holy smokes - this was something different -- amazing build. My heart was in my mouth at take-off - phew, what a relief. Kudos to the pilots managing this combo, and separation went great... although by sound of things there was quite a lot of wind to fight with. Safe landings - more relief. This was something to the record books Horst - memorable :)
Indeed, but for the flight, there are simple rules. The glider uses its rudders and ailerons while the upper plane only use the throttle. After separation, each pilot flies its own model.
Oh boy! The courage it would take to build such fine models and then add 1000x risk factor by sticking them together and hoping that they'll separate and go their own way! Collosal things must dangle between the legs of these guys 😅

@@salihmehdi7594 maybe my english is too bad, or I didn't get you... The Klemm stands in two shells with its main wheels and the rear end of the fuselage lays in a forke made outof spring-whire. The Klemm is downforced to the glider only by a thin rope during start and flight. This rope is released and the planes separate. That's all.
There is a thin rope fixed in the Klemm. It is attached to a towing clutch in the glider. After clutching via Servo in the glider, the rope is pre-tensioned with a screw in the fuselage of the Klemm.

Yes and no. What you describe is correct in many cases. But there were much more projects with this basic idea. What you see here is one of the tested configuration with exactly these two manned aircraft. Should have been an alternative to usual towing of assault gliders.
dude i love seeing unique, underrepresented models being built and flown, its my favorite part of the hobby
Assault Glider, who doesn't want one of those? This is some kind of badassery, excellent work.
Congratulations to the builders and pilots on a remarkable r/c modeling achievement.
Thank you very much! Glad you like the video 🤗👍🏼
Stunning display of aeronautical control, with amazing scale replicas of the real things!
Thankyou for sharing with us.

@@ratajoThanks for explanation.
Brilliant! Superb models and equally superb flying by both pilots. Great demonstration of Luftwaffe ingenuity too. Very impressive.
Horst, so very impressive, and to think that these superb models are also 40 years old....WOW! Thanks for posting this great video!! Cheers, Dougal

Awesome display of craftsmanship, model engineering and skill!!

Fabulous! Superb engineering and flying.
Many thanks! 😎🤙🏼
Very unique. Never knew it was a configuration that existed.
I love seeing innovation like this in RC.
sehr schöne Modelle , interessantes Mistel Gespann

Good old Huckepack taken to the next level!
Well done! UK.

There's nothing not impressive about this. Super cool!

Absolutely brilliant! Well done to both.
Fascinating..👍🙂

I thought this looked kinda crazy and then I figured out the Klemm 35 was a gasser..... so cool!

Feels like it was taken 90 years ago when the Luftwaffe began service.
Sehr cool 👍👍👍
Super cool! 👍👍👍
Well, _that_ was cool.
Great flight! Did anyone else notice the TIK-TAC, center screen, passing from right to left, behind the glider at 6:34?
Appears to be a passenger plane in the far distance. Nothing unusual about that.
Lovely job looks the part well done. Steve U.K.
They should do a three plane tow of a gigant glider
amazing!
wow

Is the release wire stay with the glider or the smaller model? In other words where is the servo to release the glider?
There is a thin rope fixed in the Klemm. It is attached to a towing clutch in the glider. After clutching via Servo in the glider, the rope is pre-tensioned with a screw in the fuselage of the Klemm.
Sweet, I didn't think it was going to work lol
Most likely in reality, it would have been towed to the battle field, and the fighter released for air cover? Just a guess
no, it was planned to do this kind of towing instead of regular towing and the motor-aircraft would have turned back to homebase after release.
4:26 another plane
