Hello, would you please care to share where this 4sp box was bought? As there exists a taiwan copy, and a european made unit, i would like to be sure. If this was a european made SAMWEL unit, i feel somewhat responsible for the counter gear not being up to tolerance. The parts visually look europe made to me ( i recognize our work), and if this unit came assembled, i would like to know , as the guys in assembly need to to better if indeed the case.

Hi Simon, Thanks for getting in touch. The 4sp box was provided by our client - we've asked him where he got it from but as he got it from a previous restorer he doesn't know. If you can email me stuart@rie-store.com then I'll send you some photos which may help you identify whether its a Samwel unit or not.

probably said this before, but for an essentially 'utility' vehicle the setting up and shimming of the gearbox seems overly fiddly, say compared to a Triumph pre unit/unit box.
