    Right, let me make a statement: Your channel has the mos comprehensive and best explained mining Videos on youtube. This is by far the best you've made on this subject AND just to flex you let us know that you can scroll horizontally at the store!!! Also the Rock categories, I always thought they were random or cosmetic. M or Q it is!
    These informations will go directly into my chairmans's club notebook and it will be the first entry into it! I'll break out the Mole tomorrow morning, have a rum before noon and listen to my list of podcasts, now including Launch Sequence (space tomato owes you money or at very least a key ring)
    But first I'll need to go step by step to make the notes. I'm guessing the equipment for the mole would be analogue to the prospector, just more expensive.
    Awesome work, thank you!

    In order to not go in circles, you can reduce the angle of your scan by using the , and . keys to change the angle. By default, your ship scans for 10km in a 360 degree scanning angle. By hitting the . key, you can reduce it to 180 degrees or 90 degrees, whichever you prefer in order to avoid going in circles. My preference is 180 degrees :)

    Asteroid mining seems suited to a Prospector. I like it because it's safe but it can get a little boring with the lack of scenery. I prefer solo MOLE mining on Lyria, just looking for rock clusters. Using a Surge module and a Lancet I can break any size rock, even over 7000. With a little luck I end up with 30-60 SCU of quant per run, in about 20 minutes.

      How you find quantanium so fast? , i casually take 2-3 hours to find a +20% rock

    • @NathanWind99
      @NathanWind99 2 роки тому +1

      @@chokit0733 On Lyria, cruise around mountain ranges at 2000m altitude, at like 80% max velocity. You don't need to actively ping, just look for clusters of rocks that pop up at 5000m range. Clusters are always quant. Slam on the brakes, get within 500m to actively scan. If they don't scan at first, you can usually get them to register by firing lasers at them. If the shots go through, it's not scannable but eventually the shots will visually land on the rocks, then you can scan them. Most are like 2% quant but I can almost always find 30-40% rocks within 20 minutes or so. SAL-2 is the most popular area on Lyria to look for quant but I'm not convinced it's the most lucrative.

    Thanks for sharing. We are directed into doing tasks that will make us money in-game during the Alpha testing. This is why every patch, the "meta" changes, and people do (test) other things. A past example of this is when the focus was on ROC mining, and another example is when you could run three single boxes (or more) missions at a time. Once the devs are satisfied with how things work, they move on to another task, then we also move along.
    In the future, when Salvage comes out, we should see this Quantainium mining decrease to make everyone move along. "Nothing to see here!"

    Great video Farrister. Now I know how to find the asteroid belt, and essentially how to mine Quantainium. I've always been rather hesitant to go after it as I know how unstable it can be. Who knows, maybe I'll give it a try. I've always found mining relaxing and enjoy it a lot. I usually prefer to mine asteroids over mining on the surface of moons or planets. Less likely of running out of fuel and crashing. Thanks for the video, take care, fly safe and I'll see you in the verse.

    Farrister, what might make a fun video is maybe the Rings of Aaron's Halo and how it is divided into 8 bands. As for mining in the Halo, I have found Band 1 to be absolutely overrunning with Quantainium. Bands 4 and 6 are also excellent places. I still need to map out Band 8. Band 7 had lots of minable ore but not much Quan. Band 5 is a mixed bag. I've not fully mapped out Band 2 & 3 also.

This would allow slower spin up to max speed and also greater precision on shorter hops. • @Ponyfox
      @Ponyfox 2 роки тому +2

      Try a Sabre, in case you haven't. When comfortable with that, maybe even a Gladius. Or maybe you tried that one too? A Vanguard is notoriously slow to maneuver and HRT's still contain (very) fast ships in the mix. Started out in a Vanguard Sentinel and used it forever doing bounties. But now with the new rework in place, I've completely fallen for the Sabre. It is my go to right up to VHRT. Usually I have to return for service not because of damage, but because I run low on fuel as I keep chaining them together one after another. She can take a beating, as long as you don't treat her like a tank-y vanguard of course. Smaller, so harder to hit. Rarely do I need to bail for a second to recharge my shields. Good old Sabre.

    Hey Farrister, another great video, I just got back into playing SC again cause of this vid, took a long enough break. At 7:10 you mentioned we could rent a a Cutty Black, but I remember reading somewhere that you need to take all your cargo at once and can't do bit by bit, so like renting a Connie, do you know if that's been addressed or if it can actually be done with a cutty black filling in the cargo bit by bit?

    • @Farrister
      @Farrister  2 роки тому

      You need to decant your order into a ship all at once, but essentially for a Prospector you just need something larger than 32SCU, so a Cutlass Black would be fine, although you'd need to do 1 order at a time. Bigger cargo ships can haul multiple orders

My only issue is, I've made enough off monitor missions to rent a Prospector and then a Cutty for hauling the quant, but if I had a larger load in refinement would a cutty not require multiple trips to sell? Also, is just finding one good rock enough to fill my hold in a Prospector? Or does it require mining multiple rocks whilst the timer counts down? Thank you!

    • @Farrister
      @Farrister  2 роки тому +1

      Welcome to the 'Verse, glad it was helpful! If you have multiple refined loads, then yes, you could load them onto a ship larger than Cutlass, or you could do multiple Cutlass loads. The fact I have to wait almost a day to see any profits is a huge turn off, especially the state of the """"alpha"""".

      Well, you can always dump raw ore into the refinery too, but yes, not ideal

    Im done with this game. I went all in with mining, been mining every day for a week, 10 hours a day. Renting the Prospector ship, and i barely make a profit. 50% of all rocks i find cant be scanned. the rest of the rocks i CAN scan has less than 3% of what im looking for. And in rare cases i find a rock with 10% Taranite or Bexalite, the mass is over 5000 and i cant mine it. Was watching this guide and ive spent over one hours flying around here and nothing. not a single fucking rock worth mining. The game server crashed 2 times today, respawn. my character got stuck in a cave, respawn. I glitched through the floor twice, respawn. I got booped out of my ship twice in a row, respawn. This game is not Alpha, its not even playable. Day 2 of my journey i logged in, all my money was gone. (only had 10-15k) but that should not happen. I love the concept of this game, but the devs focus on expanding the verse and adding more ships, they should ONLY focus on optimizing and bug fixes. // A pissed of Sweede.

      Ugh, really sorry to read of your experience. Can I ask where you went mining?

      @@Farrister Aaron Halo for Quantanium. Then Aberdeen and Ita for Bexalite, Taranite, Laranite. Cant find nothing. I made 4 or 5 trips with my rented prospector and i brought back half a cargo with Taranite in total. Think i got around 20k and rent cost was 52k. So im done with mining. I might save to a fighter so i can focus on bounty instead.
